And for the love of God put a window on your hologram.  Being able to view firstbits to verify the balance of the BTC is absolutely essential for a coin of this price.

And I'd recommend Coinographic develop a method to make the holograms untamperable.  A 5 BTC prize will get the attention of lots of swindlers who will try to redeem the coin and keep the hologram intact.  It's already been demonstrated that it can be done.

Might I suggest laser-rimming the hologram in the same way as Casascius did with the 2013 1BTC silver coins? I believe it is the best method of preventing the hologram itself being tampered with. It includes essentially running a laser around the edge of the sticker to make tiny cuts into it around the edge.
I would also like to give a shout-out to my idea of having 3 (or two) separate hologram windows; as the combination of the two features would undoubtedly make the stickers on these coins the most secure yet on a physical coin and perhaps the new industry standard for high value coins. The separate windows could display the first-bit, the enclosed amount, and the serial number.

Not to whine about this or anything...but noticed weird two occurences of winning logo on Coinographic account on Aug 20th and 26th...hmmm...did they already know the winner back then? Ok, put it as a picture with links to thread makes sense...but repeat it again with story about Bitcoin poker....?

Mr. iawgoM if you remember I was not even in the first five. I think all of this is just a coincidence.
I agree; since he wasn't even in the original 5, it must be coincidence. There's not much to go on here.
congrats again Mr. BAU Smiley

I dont blame Coinographic for his decision. I proposed the agreement in full transparency with him and made it clear that it was OK for it to be made public.  I felt it was the best, and wouldn't be seen as overly controversial, instead taking away controversy by equally rewarding the top performers. I was mistaken, and I accept the disqualification stance.

Congrats to Mr. BAU!

10:30pm GMT is now passed. Looks like voting is done.

iawgoM with #10 is the winner, with  #15, #10 (myself), #16, and #4 coming in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th respectively (if i counted wrong, do let me know)

This was a crazy contest all through, and while I would have liked to win, I recognize #10 as the winner, not having any real evidence of him being dishonest or unsportsmanlike.

If any other coinmaker (or coinograhic himself) would like to use my design or my idea of 3 hologram windows, please let me know; I would love to see it come to life!

I look forward to this `5` themed coin coming out, and depending on the final price, will consider buying one as I will hopefully be able to do so by the time it goes for sale.

Thanks for the contest Coinographic, it was messy, but I thank you for the opportunity and am excited to win the secondary prize Smiley

I speak fluent finnish, and am canadian so I also speak some french.
I have some chinese friends who helped me with the Chinese translation. nothing wrong with this, again. if I truly wanted to 'farm', id have messages in 20+ languages. If you can read the text, it says very clearly that anyone is free to vote for whoever.
If you actually find me obviously breaking rules and being dishonest, then say what you will but the baseless accusations arent necessary.

This was not me.
Whoever made this account to try to make me look like a cheater is the real cheater.
I have messaged the Litecointalk Admin to get a trace of the IP or identity of the user. I will update this post with a screenshot once I hear back.

Its really sad to see this happen; all 3 of the leading coins now have had forum accounts offering to pay for votes, with #15 being first and then an account called ''Zagreb" (capital of Croatia, the country #6 lives in...BUT the account was seemingly traced to Switzerland, where #15 lives) offering to buy votes for #6. Really..?
I have very strong suspicions of who that might be. I am confident that Coinographic will judge the end results fairly and disqualify whoever is cheating.

Updates to come..

It's a shame it all went down like this, really.  I sincerely hope that the below is seen be Coinographic because it's probably the only reasonable piece of advice in the thread.
Coinographic, in the future, don't let the community vote.
Just choose the designs yourself.

Excellent analysis; thanks for keeping score. I have to agree; it would have simply been better for them to choose the design.
If I may say two things regarding my coin I would like to point out that I did submit an original hand-drawn version. I do not interpret this as a contest of  'graphic design' but of 'conceptualization'. Since my hand drawing was good at communicating the design, I see no problem with the fact that someone helped me with Photoshop, from the contest point of view. i did confirm with Coinographic that even a hand drawn design would be fine, so i must from that assume that 'working with us' shouldn't be problematic in that case.

Second, I regret that in this 2nd round of voting, my long description of the coin is lost. While I get that some others might be more visually appealing from quick glance, those who dont read the description will likely not realize the deep symbolism such as 3 7-star constellations representing 21 million bitcoins, the symbolism of the words with the image of universal currency, and the most innovate & secure hologram ever designed (3 separate windows and laser rimming).
At the end of the day, theres no way everyone can be happy with the contest whichever way it turns out. It is true that I am messaging those whom I have done business with before letting them know about my design; surely anyone else in my position would do the same.
1056  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Physical Bitcoin Design Finalists - Cast Your Vote Now! - Ends 10th September 14 on: September 02, 2014, 08:08:18 AM

- It is correct that after submitting an identical hand-drawn coin early in the contest which I made, I had someone (on r/jobs4bitcoin) put it into a digital format so that I can better communicate my vision. The design is 100% mine; I simply had someone with the correct skills digitize it because that is not something I am skilled in. I even asked some of the other designers if they were willing to help me out.

How would you do this if you can't design anything in photoshop?

1)   They agree to work with us after the voting is complete until the final coin design is produced, no matter the amount of time this takes.  This includes the front & Rear of the coin as well as the hologram and packaging

The important thing of-course is communicating with Coinographic about the vision and design; I asked him early on if a hand drawn coin was acceptable and it was; i just had it replicated via Photoshop so that it is easier for voters to understand the design. This is a concept / design contest, great Photoshop skills aren't mandatory. I am of-course willing to work with Coinographic to get the final design should my concept win Smiley

Iagow and elianite should have been disqualified! Elianite because he paid somebody to photoshop his coin and he told friends to come and vote for his design (which isn't really his because somebody else did the work).
And iagow because his design is stolen and he has the whole croatian mafia voting for him.

It is funny that these 2 scammers where in the top 5. Why do I have the feeling that coinographic is in on this.
This voting system is a joke and can not be taken seriously. This is not thw community speaking, this is the croatian mafia amd the paid votes from elianite.

Check the other thread from yeasterday, there you will find all the information including proof!

I dont believe that is grounds for disqualification or in any way against the spirit of this contest.

- I have messaged some people whom I have previously done business with regarding physical coins. I think that is appropriate, since those are the people whom would be most interested in this contest. I have been very open in saying that they can vote for whomever they desire, including mine if they find it to be the best.
- I have absolutely not offered to pay or reward anyone in any way for their vote.

As you may know, I have written a book about Casascius coins and have an untarnished reputation here which I take seriously. I stand by my actions which I believe to be fully ethical, and will answer the community to any challenges which are grounded on fact. I have nothing to hide here.

P.s. I really like your coin Chemist-for-hire; I admit I was surprised it was not in the original 5 finalists Smiley

One or some of the contestants are blasting out PM to members to vote on them.
Just FYI.

Let me guess: iawgoM

Wrong.

I have to appologize, this was presumptuous of me.

This was me. I sent dj6230 a friendly message linking to this thread, since I had bought a physical bitcoin from him some time ago. I felt this was appropriate and well within the ideals of fair play. I encourage everyone to vote for the coin they see as being the most worthy.

I present to you the most secure physical Bitcoin ever designed: The Double Universal.

It is Luxury. It is Power. It is Symbol.

The Double Universal has it all.

Description of symbolism:
The rim is normal, shiny gold, encircling the work of art. The outer side rim has a binary code spelling out “January 3rd, 2009”, the date of the Genesis Block. A matte gold base highlights the shiny raised Latin text, “Strength in Numbers”, in between which is a number: Five.  5 BTC. Four arrows on the coin appear as those of a compass leading the way for universal adoption, but also hold a greater significance. This arrow containing the Bitcoin amount is the highest, pointing to the astronomical upward trend of it and other digital currencies, figuratively all the way up to the North Star. Contrasted with it is the downward arrow, which has the text “2 ozt 999 Au”. Though having near equal value to its sky-high counterpart at the time of the coins inception, the arrow signifies the declining importance of gold in the future of wealth, pointing it back towards the ground from which it was mined. Physical value is the past, Digital value is the future.
In the Center of the coin is a beautiful scene; the incorruptible bitcoin is shown amidst the Earth, Moon, and stars. To the left, is an arrow, as if a rewind button with the year ‘2009’. A small triangle symbolized the initial idea of, the completion of, and the presenting of the Bitcoin Whitepaper by Satoshi Nakamoto while the year signifies the beginning of the Bitcoin Era as the first block was mined. Next, one can imagine pressing the opposing fast-forward button to visit the year 2140 when the last block will be mined. The great Bitcoin transition will be complete, with all 21 million Bitcoin remaining for eternity as signified by the infinity symbol following the year.
Now we zoom out to view the entire face, where three major constellations each bearing seven stars poke out as intrusions to the mirror-like gold surface. 3 constellations of 7 stars each add up to 21, with each star symbolizing 1 million Bitcoins. As the stars, the incorruptible code will outlive this planet. As such the meaning of the lower text (H) becomes apparent: Universal Currency.

The Star Constellations displayed:
-Great Bear (Big Dipper)
-Little Bear (Little Dipper)
-Cassiopeia

More Description
On the BACK of the coin, you will find the standard information of year; hand engraved serial number, company name and ‘5 BITCOIN’ denomination, all separated by circuits to symbolize computers and mining which power Bitcoin. The hologram is where things start to get special:
The Hologram itself is the most secure ever created. It contains the popular safety feature of having a private key ‘window’, but it goes much farther than that. There are two more windows, showing both the Denomination AND serial number so they can be compared to those written on the coin. This takes away the possibility of someone somehow obtaining another hologram and using it. The hologram also features LASER RIMMING which has been utilized by Casascius for some of the most premium coins. The Hologram features a swirl-like chain to symbolize the blockchain which holds everything together and protects private keys and balances within it. The hologram is mostly black with gold and rainbow sparkles shining through, contrasting perfectly with the gold. there are also two smaller swirls and they key logo, both demonstrating the Cryptolator brand.

Hologram colors: B is bright gold, and private key windows are gold-like. The 'empty space' is mostly black, with gold sparkles and purple and red/yellow undertones. The Laser rimming is golden and blends in with the metal.

There is also an EASTER EGG under the hologram: If one redeems the coin they may find under hologram two circles of currency symbols that is otherwise hidden. In the outer circles every major world currency; Dollar, Yen, Euro, Pound, Ruble is represented, and another circle with the signs of various alt-coins. A Bitcoin symbol reigns supreme in the middle. None compare with Bitcoin, and are buried underneath it's private key.

FRONT
Gold in text section is MATTE, with text being raised and POLISHED.
The face is POLISHED, with the B, Earth, and Moon in MATTE.
Compass arrows are POLISHED
BACK
POLISHED, except for raised MATTE letters and under the hologram for grip.

Presentation:
The coin will be presented in the standard Coinographic box, but with a twist! The front will indicate that the coin is to commemorate 5 years of bitcoin, and showing the 'Bitcoin Era' of 2009-2140, and onwards to Infinity.

There will be a certificate card which will have an identical hologram attached in the middle, so as to make it visible when the box is open (so one can admire both the art and the hologram). The first bits are BLANK on the hologram, so it cannot be used for fraud. The denomination and serial number however are visible in the windows of the 2nd hologram, as to confirm the certificate belongs to the coin and is original. There is also a gold thread placed inside the hologram so it wraps around the card. For extra luxury, this could be replaced by a real gold chain!
In the box, the coin arrives in a classy black slab that can be opened by the buyer. (alternatively, it can be in a standard coin capsule)

About the artist: I am the author of a 30 page ebook about Casascius coins, and am working on a 150+ page book detailing all physical cryptos made to-date. To arrive at this design, I looked at dozens of coins by various makers, drawing inspiration. I humbly present you this coin, which I hope the community will find to be most symbolic, touching, and representative of Bitcoin; demonstrating both the past, present, and future hopes of all Bitcoin supporters.
