1241  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Should I buy this gold bar - good deal? on: June 05, 2014, 04:18:41 AM
That's not gonna selling for $380. It's an auction. There are 13 bids and 22 hours to go. Wait to see the price tomorrow Wink

Honestly, I would stay away from ebay auctions and gold unless you want to pay a premium. Noticed quite a few times gold and silver selling higher then usually.. most of the times you would be able to get a better price at sites like apmex.com for the same coin or bar.

Thanks... would apmex.com be the site you recommend for almost pure gold/silver purchases?  Looking to hold some, a couple thousand dollars worth.. located in Canada...  Any recommends?

if your near toronto there's some good places to buy in person.
http://canadianbullionservices.com/   for example

I would vote for higher quality.  There's a lot of lesser quality coins out there, but the thing that appealed to me with your coin was the sculpted relief, varying finishes (polished vs frosted), size, weight, and rarity.  After I received my first coin, I liked it so much, I ordered another.

i think you should maintain the quality of your brand and not devalue it.

If the price of bitcoins stays high, people will be willing to pay more for the coin itself.

Great ! Ok, now I'm pretty sure I'll go with higher quality !

The only thing I need to decide is the material....

Thanks for your input ! Tongue

I think I would like to see these in copper, it would look sweet nice and shined up!

actually, ill second that. the antique varieties wouldn't bring out the shine nearly as well.
I would go with shiny nickel or shiny copper, both have their advantages
1243  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS Casascius Gold Bearer Bar - Unfunded on: June 04, 2014, 05:43:15 PM

How did you come to this conclusion?
The 2 factor bar was made in the same quantity as the regular. Original price was 1.6BTC / each and stepped up to 2BTC in the last weeks Mike sold them.

Oh it was? I assumed 2fa was much more limited, as ive only seen ts sold once anywhere outside the 3 i sold.

1245  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Blank 5 BTC 2012 Casascius Coins - Rare! on: June 04, 2014, 05:51:07 AM
Any chance you have the holograms that go on these?

i have 2 that are 'peeled', aka the number and all is visible and the sticker is there. I will only consider highish offers, as i was not planning to sell
1246  Economy / Goods / Re: WTS Casascius Gold Bearer Bar - Unfunded on: June 04, 2014, 05:49:15 AM
yes, its collectible because its made by casascius. Much more valuable are the empty bas with intact holograms, and even moreso the 2-factor bars. 0.3-.5 is a more or less fair price
1247  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: New Bitcoin gift card & wallet service released - BitcoinGiftCard.org on: June 04, 2014, 04:18:03 AM
Here is my review:
I was the first to order these cards, so I did not know exactly what to expect. In the ordering process, I encountered a VERY user-friendly interface through which I was able to choose my gift cards, denominations, and more; complete freedom. I paid using my Visa credit card through Paypal.
Shipping took a bit longer then it should have, but the cards arrived today in a normal envelope. The back of the cards gave clear instructions how to redeem them (my 15 year old sister who has no clue about bitcoin was able to follow them and redeem the BTC), and it was easy to send the bitcoins directly to an address of my choosing, instantly. There was also the option to store btc on the site, or use the card itself as a wallet. Bitcoins stored on the site can be sent out any time, BUT it can take up to 24h to be processed.

There are still some kinks and things you can smooth out, but this is a clearly legitimate service with great value and potential. The fee is very fair.
Highly recommended!

Probably quite a bit, since the die would be computer created instead of plaster hand sculpted... the material option I have is: ALUMINUM, NICODIUM, BRONZE, COPPER, NICKEL

The options I have for the most expensive one are: ANTIQUE BRONZE, SHINY BRASS, ANTIQUE NICKEL, SHINY NICKEL, ANTIQUE COPPER OR SHINY COPPER COIN

What material would you prefer ?

Definitely  not: aluminum

I (and i think most) want a heavy coin, a coin with mass. Not light like made by casascius. A bold, attention grabbing thing to put on display.
shiny copper is good, antique copper is better. antique nickel is also a good bet.
If you do shiny nickel, you must use the same mint as last time, since coins will be same color. I think it could go very well.

To be quite honest, I would consider the Shiny nickel and use the same mint the coins would then be the same except for different metal and compliment each other well.

I say antique broze OR antique copper OR shiny nickel

Hard question. You managed to sell your first batch just fine, and now that your over that 'hump', your a respected coin maker with a brand. Your coins were AMAZING quality; stunning. That said, I think a smallish batch of 500 coppers would sell. You make high quality coins; keep it that way.

On the other hand, $25 is alot for a copper coin, BUT perhaps not so much if it has a wallet included.

I assuming your making the coppers in the same design as this previous coin In that case, I would say go with the old mint, and have them both uniform.

From a business perspective however, go with the lower quality. While the previous coin was simply amazing, with a very cheap coin of 10-12 you could get ALOT of people buying them. For me, $25 requires some consideration but ill spend $12 without much of it. You could easily become the most popular maker of such coins with wallets; many buyers would come. This is very good long-term.

All in all, tough choice..

1256  Economy / Goods / [WTS] 2011 v1 "Double-Error" Casascius coin, CREATED in 2012!! Funded 2012-01-01 on: June 02, 2014, 05:04:25 AM
I am selling my Casascius '2011' Series 1 error coin.
2011 is in brackets because this coin was not actually funded in 2011 by Casascius, but in the early morning hours of Janruary 1, 2012!

The date of this coin is special in 3 different ways:
1. Its date of funding is in 2012, though it is a 2011 V1... I suppose we could call this a 'Double Error'
2. It was funded in the same batch as V2 coins, making it among the LAST of the famous 2011 errors!
3. It was of the 1st batch of any physical Bitcoin created in 2012

I believe that this coin is special not only for its famous error and being the first physical bitcoin, but due to it being a lasting demonstration of Mike Caldwell's dedication and tireless efforts in creating his coins. What were you doing on New Year's in 2012? Mike for one was working, funding this special coin with '2011' printed on it, even though the clock had ticked past that year. Who knows; maybe he lost track of time all together!

coin address: 1PMgBYYk http://casascius.uberbills.com/?address=1PMgBYYkXbpdoGmEvLsd7nu8xkXnoMuFxC

Photos below; its in truly excellent quality, kept in a coin flap.

Please, post your offers below, and I will look to sell. Im also trying to gauge interest in this 'double error'. send me your offers!

Hologram

And the front (is the pic good enough? could try to do better)
