381  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: July 24, 2014, 07:05:10 PM
I'm currently running 10x R-Boxes powered by a 750w psu through a Blackarrow software ATX to 12v adapter board.

Does anyone who's also using a similar setup know if that Blackarrow board can handle 12x R-Boxes, or should I stick at 10?

Any help would be appreciated.

I had 11x R-Box miners on a single BA breakout board...the board was still cool, so I'd say another one or two shouldn't be an issue.

I wouldnt go more than 11 to be honest. Depending on the grade of the chips etc, anything over 600w has a chance of damaging the Black Arrow board.

Good info to know, thanks bro

I just found out that for the last 5 days my Darkcoin mining has been showing shares locally but not poolside.
Any ideas??
I have the pool looking into it.  I have not made any changes.

Wish I knew! I have been so busy over here I have not been able to take the time to upgrade my MultiMiner to the latest release  Undecided

Slush pool is doing great considering the recent difficulty and hash power increases!

And now lots of luck hunters have gone, our find rate will increase - always happens...

Indeed. I tend to "set it and forget it" when it comes to my BTC miners and Slush pool.
So long as they are still mining and being reported on my dashboard, I am cool.

Every pool has their luck, whether good/bad/indifferent, lol.
Patience is a BIG part of mining, even when mining gold, diamonds and platinum...takes time to uncover those rich veins hidden by layers upon layers of rock!

How do these machines have any chance to ROI in Europe with the electricity prices and import taxes!?!?

Huh??

I pay 0.12 €/kwh and you ?

0,28 €/kwh in Denmark.....  Angry

0.10 including all the taxes in France, but a few days in winter are over 0.50€
Or you can pay 0.14 all year long, but it was less profitable for me than to turn everything off a few days.

I pay 0,04 €/kwh, Smiley but you have to live in Russia for that  Sad

0,04??? wow

My avg. kWh rates are 0.08 USD and could get down to 0.04 but I'd lose 2/3 of each day doing so. (Peak/mid-peak/off-peak hours have different rates/lengths of time and change winter/summer)

And so it begins.  New York regulators are now proposing things which would make it essentially illegal for anybody to use Bitcoin in that state without being registered. It is so over-reaching that it would even catch things like the Bitcoin tipbot on reddit, which would be an illegally operating entity if it allows you to tip a New York resident.

http://www.dfs.ny.gov/about/press2014/pr1407171-vc.pdf
I've read several articles about this proposal and most of them seem to give the same quote, that merchant and consumers using bitcoin strictly for the sale of Goods and Services are exempt. I view the fact that you collect a 2% fee for providing me the service of access to bitcoin mining software and a service of reasonable security protection from online attackers, makes you a simple merchant and 'us' the consumers of your service. Therefore "We" are not subject to the SDN verification as well as State Licensing. Though you may want to tweak the support page to make it clear 'You are only providing a Service and are not a Bank, Loan Agent, or Monetary Transfer Provider'.

A mining pool is not just buying hashpower and paying in units of a virtual currency, it is using that hashpower to create units of a virtual currency.
It can't sensibly be argued to be the same as a retailer accepting payments for goods.

Actually, we don't CREATE units of virtual currency...we FIND "BLOCKS" hidden in code...so essentially, the "mining pool" is a digital-treasure hunting club.

Thanks for posting the news on the pool page. I was unaware of this until I checked my BTCGuild dashboard today. I mine on Slush, which is located in Czech Republic and use BTCGuild as my #2 pool.

As far as those who migrate to Ghash.io...I have been mining Slush for quite some-time and I tried Ghash.io (and a few other pools) but I found Ghash.io less friendly towards small farms/mines as my payouts were less than what I should have expected. Sure the smaller pools may have short dry spells but on avg. I earn about ~5-10% more with Slush and the smaller pools than I would on Ghash. Of course I don't have >10 Th/s either.

389  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [GUIDE] Undervolt antminer s1 [1.19W/GH at the wall] on: July 23, 2014, 06:53:21 PM
So what would happen if I just underclock to 275 without doing the pencil mod.

you would hash at 140 gh and use 280 watts.

you need to understand how easy it really is to do.  2 -4 lite to medium pencil strokes on 8 resistors 4 on each side of the miner.

watts will drop from about 280 to about 170-200 depending on how perfect you got your resistors to drop.

Or watch my video guide

It's still processing as I just uploaded it. Hope this helps!

Just got my first 2 Antminer S3 up and running :-)
2 more coming tomorrow.

Got my 2 last Thursday, wishing I had ordered more now. Hashes less than originally expected but very well built, runs a lot cooler, and not nearly as loud.

OC those bad boys! People are reporting ~500 Gh/s and an increase of about 40 watts when overclocked
392  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ROCKMINER ASIC miner official thread on: July 22, 2014, 10:40:24 PM
Rockxie, would you guys @Rockminer consider selling RK to R3 upgrade kits? Huh (brackets, heatsinks, controller etc)

I would be down to purchase one if it would help with cooling and stability issues...

Any chance Rockminer would be open to a "Group Buy" of some R3 frame/housing upgrades for us RK-Box owners?
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.7 Available on: July 22, 2014, 09:55:31 PM
I've said this before....

If you REALLY want to help Dogecoin price/value....SPEND that Doge my shibes! Buy goods and services!
Nothing wrong with holding some but if you don't circulate the "money" it cannot and will not stay a viable source of currency.

Got my 4x 2board units today, unpacked and mining in about 15minutes flat. Super simple setup and currently hashing @ 1220gh and 1400w @wall.

No issues with delivery, took roughly 5 days.

Edit: Can we please get a different mirror for the rpi images? 20k/sec download in the USA kind of sucks.

Team is working on uploading the images to somewhere else to give a better experience of downloading. I will let you know when it's done.

Maybe I can host a copy on my Google drive (public docs section) to share with others  Cool

Hello folks,
I have some rockminer t-shirts to give away from the Chicago conference.
If you've posted on this thread and would like one, please PM me.  While supplies last.

Nice! PM'd, not sure if you have any mediums but I'd trade ya an R-Pi case or two (or something else 3d printed) for a tee  Cool
no need to trade me,  they are free from RockMiner.

Maybe so but I you'd havta pay shipping and minus some filament cost and printer time, all I'd havta pay outta pocket is some shipping as well. You put a t-shirt on my back and I will scratch yours Wink

Thanks for the swag Rockminer and thanks Canary for making it to the expo!

Do you folks know if there's any ARM board cheaper than the raspberry pi which can do the (allocating?*) to my miners?
I am happy to make a filesystem, do the cross-compiling and whatever.  But 50USD is kinda expensive for a single-board computer which only needs to run a very small footprint program.

*(what's the correct term to use?)

Tp link routers($25usd) can be flashed(dd openWrt) to run cgminer. One of my rigs run on a tp link MR3020 router. But with the pi you can get sd card images from other members/companies with stable firmware.

There is also a version of pi made in China that's $36usd on Amazon. It's the one with the black audio jack.

*The pi use software to configure your miner(chip speeds/voltage commands) along with pool info. This software is usually built on top of a stratum proxy program. So the pi is actually a local proxy server for your miners. It also allows you to monitor what your miners are actually doing since the pools numbers are just good estimates of your hash rate.

Hmmmm, me thinks I found my next video-guide project! First I should search for Google/YouTube for any current guides for a CGMiner/router hack
Thanks for posting this info...I ams urprised I never thought of using a DD-WRT router for such a purpose but I don't do code/programming (very novice coder/programmer)

I've always wondered about people who post these LONG ass kw lists....

Tell me...is this your trades to consider list (posted below) or just a list to get YOUR CL posting to show up with nearly every motorsports related CL search?
You'd honestly sell it faster if you were advertising to the right crowd yo...most folks with a Chevrolet, Ford or Volkswagen won't be able to afford the insurance on this sweet beast, let alone the monthly loan payments. Nice looking machine there. glws!
