901  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: June 03, 2014, 08:22:48 PM
Yes I would be at that point and that is the gamble we take when we choose a pool and it's backup.
And I would take the loss since I chose the pool I mine on and the backup.
I understand we get paid "faster" since more power just came online. I get it.. It's a good thing for sure.
Ghash finds blocks multiple times a day and if I wanted a paid every hour I would mine there.
Yet it doesn't seem like our rebuttals is getting thru to anyone.
Because when the pools go back up the power goes back to the other pools and we stay.
But those guys got their equal payout so they don't care while our score means crap and we get less.
Sure it's all about luck. I can play the hopping game here.
Oh look 10% done and already an hour into the block. Guess I'll go mine somewhere else for the next 8 hours
and come back for the last 2 and get paid like I was mining the whole time at slush.
Been there done that... It works quite well actually. Almost like clockwork really.
Right now 3 hrs into the block. I could point my miner to ghash for the next hour, get paid and come back
and collect my payout here as if I never left. Slush might find it in the next  hour but the odds says the pool won't.

Slush does not monitor this thread anymore. If you want your voice to be heard, I suggest opening a support ticket.

It is what it is and we can either live with it or move on at this point. Even if it IS more profitable to hop from pool to pool etc and collect the extra hashes per round but I have much better things to do than play the pool hopping game for a few extra satoshis!
902  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: June 03, 2014, 06:34:02 PM
So if/when Slush pool ever goes down and your backup pool is say Eligius...wouldn't YOU be the "pool hopper" at that point???

I understand the mechanism Slush has and I am okay with the pool's anti-hopping system...you guys need to remember, we all have a backup pool setup in our software, no sense complaining when a group of miners fail-over (backup) to Slush pool, just goes to show how reliable Slush pool is for those other miners to direct their hardware to our pool when theirs goes down. Sure I make less per round but on the other hand the extra hashrate should increase our blocks found and although the "hoppers" or rather fail-over miners earn about the same as the rest of the Slush pool, the anti-hopping system works.

I sure as hell cannot determine what pool is going to discover a block at any given point in time.
903  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: June 03, 2014, 04:31:25 PM
Why isn't the work we all perform also submitted for Namecoins as is done on other pools?

Seems like a waste.

IDK but I do know this....last merged mining pool I mined with, the payouts were crap. Who cares about some measly NMC. I can trade for NMC with the extra BTC I mine here! Cheesy

For powering these, We have had great internal testing luck with
http://minersource.net/products/atx-to-dc-power-adapter

Good to power 10-12 R Boxes, with a 5V out for powering Pis. Takes any standard ATX PSU, and has its own power switch.

Awesome news! I was just about to test my ATX breakout board with my R-Box today, thanks mate!

Looks like Eligius is down, and we are carrying some of their backups, now at 3568178.052 Ghash/s
yea and who else got shafted with a crap payout after mining there for 5 hrs.
I really think the scoring system needs to be relooked at. Don't care if the payouts are decent.
It's total BS when all of a sudden everyone jumps onto slush with 30 mins left on a block and everyones rewards gets cut
by a third.
The only thing anti hop about this pool is it actually hurts the miners who mine the entire block and not the actual
hoppers.

agreed
wrong

without the additional power it wouldn't take 30 mins ... think about it this way
instead of getting same reward for 10h you get half of it for 5h

Yes it sucks when other pools go offline and the miners have their backup pool set as Slush....it happens. With the added hashing power, Slush should solve blocks faster, making for more found blocks, in theory anyways. Times like these make me really appreciate the Slush pool...due to the smaller size of this pool, my hashrate is more effective and rewarding here than on the bigger pools.

Just edited my earlier post with the most recent figures as I have been waiting to catch the hashrate up when other pools are down.
908  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: June 02, 2014, 09:57:16 PM
hi guys, any help or advice would be great, over the last couple of days i know the pool has grown . but for most of the morning i have been hashing with 3 s1 antminers at 535 ghz and i was getting approc 554k-550k
and it just went down for the rest of the day to 490k - 495k per block, is this a thing to do with slush pools point systems....thanks  Cry

So I assume you have these overclocked to 200gh/s which is 600gh/s total. so you are seeing around 550gh/s which is 10% missing.
This is normal for a slush pool... I see it happen a lot to my miners. I have no clue where that 10% vanishes too. I stopped caring 6 months ago as my payouts are being paid as if the 10% is not missing. and my projected is always right when the 10% is missing.

So I must assume it just a calculation error on slush's part.

The stats reported on the pool (estimations only) are not as reliable as the stats reported from the mining software. Check your S1 log files for more detailed info.

Well just swapped out PSUs, but apparently still can't get it to connect to BTC Guild.  It appears that it is restarting every couple of minutes.  It was shutting down completely with my 630W PSU, so I swapped it out to an 850W Antec and it is still clearly resetting every minute or two.   Tried Slush's pool but it kept timing out on me... mining can be so very exhausting...

Was hoping to have gotten it earlier in the day, but I am tired and ready to relax and watch some Football.

Here is what the proxy miner is showing:

Here is the settings on the Cube Miner page:

Thanks for all of the help so far, and hopefully I can get it working tomorrow Smiley

I have those plus (+) signs in "Pool addresses" field and the "Miners user:pass" field on the purple page. I tried to take them away and when I refresh I am not able to and they are still there. Please Help me as I wanted to try slush's pool

ElectricSavant™

When you delete/remove the + signs from your pool address (or make any other changes), click the UPDATE/RESTART button to save the info.

You might try pool ports 8332 as well

Also, I would drop that mining_proxy.exe like a BAD habit and use MultiMiner as it has a built-in stratum proxy option and a mobile app!

What do you think about this guys, In the last 2 months with mining and rising BTC, I earned as much BTC to double my mining operation in fact double & a 1/4 more...

Now my question is would you spend all your BTC to do this? Do you think I would re-gain what I had in just over a month... I am contemplating whether or not I should do this.

Save up for next gen gear once you reach your set goal.
That's my plan and I have almost reached my hashrate goal on time!

What do you mean set goal?  And what do you mean hasrate goal on time?

Well, I set a goal to have 1 Th/s by June and once my new PSU arrives, I can power on my latest miner investment which will put me over the 1 Th/s mark, reaching my goal.

I started mining just a few months ago with only 2 Antminer U1's and now I have a small Ant farm, hehe (S1's)

Although I am talking in scrypt , I think your talking in Sha... But anyways how do you come to the conclusion to set your goal Hash? What makes you say its 1TH and not 10TH? How do you calculate your goal hash?

BTW ---I have been speaking to a guy who apparently written his own Scrypt switching software and is getting 0.004 BTC/Mhs ... something doesnt seem right here.

Yes I was referring to my SHA hashrate goals but also have "set" goals for my scrypt hashrate(which are getting more attn again)
I set my goal for a certain amount of "profit" (based on hashrate) per month and aim to raise that goal a certain percentage each difficulty change (if possible) in order to make more profit each period.

Thanks

916  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.6 HARDFORK MANDATORY UPDATE on: May 31, 2014, 05:40:57 PM
What is the best DOGE pool currently to use?

https://doge.rapidhash.net/ is great. Also, you may want to check out http://vpool.io/. It has a 1% fee, which is used to buy more ASICs who will secure Dogecoin's network. It his managed by one of the developpers.

DOGE is seriously fun, when you forget about the fun then it has less value. Every time the price went down before, it always went back up over 100/200 and it will again. Don't worry, be happy.  Smiley

917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DOGE] Dogecoin - very currency many coin - v1.6 HARDFORK MANDATORY UPDATE on: May 31, 2014, 05:38:36 PM
and really who mine doge now? exept multi pools?
becasue of block halving and its right on next halving coin will be dead
correct me if im wrong

I mine Doge...the multi-pools payout in BTC or LTC and I wanted to get paid in Dogecoin so I could spend the Doge.
I don't think the multi-pool mining is helping Dogecoin at all...they just mine and dump!
We all gotta pay for power and all but somethings gotta give soon

I think my internet connection is weak!

Ah!  So you mean proxy your outbound connections.  I use Slush's proxy for my Ants.

Code:
\python27\python mining_proxy.py -o stratum.mining.eligius.st -p 3334 -sp 3333 -gp 8330 -cu <your mining address> -rt -nm

Then point all your ants to that machine:3333.

Note this doesn't work with p2pool.  If you intend to use p2pool, I suggest running your own node, after you apply Kano's cgminer patch to all of your S1s.

M

Thanks I'll try it.

MultiMiner software has a built-in proxy PLUS has a mobile app for monitoring/controlling your miners while away.
Check it out yo...I still use M's Ant Monitor all the time but the MultiMiner software is priceless!

www.Multiminerapp.com

Keep up the awesome work mate! Soon as I get over these continuous hardware failures, I can donate a little for your efforts.
