Please understand, staking is actually a form of mining......and dependent on several things. Your balance, connection and the amount held by other wallets. Just as in in mining......rewards are not guaranteed. But you can't get anything unless you participate.
This is true of every POS coin out there.
Good luck everyone.

I've been away on vacation and dependable, usuable net connections have been scarce.
I hope people begin to realize that Spectrecoin is progressing smoothly with the guidance of the original Project Manager Mandica.
Our bi-weekly newsletters give insight to what has been done this past month.
https://news.spectreproject.io/

We appreciate the continuing support of people for xspec through these confusing times but, everyone will see things for what they are as time goes by.... Wink

......So the dude has been planning to fork for a while... are the WISP t-shirts and coffee mugs ready?

if you're thinking the "dude" was jbg....then you would be wrong.
Actually, several of the guys in the xspec community had been planning this when they were worried @jbg was gone and bryce didn't exist.
They were even already planning to hire another dev.
But since they now think a fork is going to happen they're all licking their chops.
Life in the crypto world I guess.... Grin

SpectreCoin will be going through changes as a result of the earlier announcement by Project Manager Mandica
This statement was released today .

IMPORTANT UPDATE
After having some extended discussions with @jbg, @beachguy and @RKh it has become clear
that @jbg does not support the upcoming XSPEC update and the changes it brings to the
network. @jbg has therefore stated that he will only support the “old” version of XSPEC and
collaborate with others and continue development on the “old XSPEC” which will be done under
the name of WISP. That means therefore that @jbg effectively leaves Spectrecoin (XSPEC) and he
is no longer the lead dev, manager or a spokesperson for Spectrecoin (XSPEC).
@jbg has stated that he will continue the work he has promised to the community (v 1.4) but this
will now be published under the name of WISP based on the “old XSPEC blockchain”. Please see
statement from @jbg when this is published. As the updates promised to the community by @jbg
will be pushed to a new GitHub open source repo, the official Spectrecoin (XSPEC) will be free to
work downstream from the new @jbg repo and implement the improvements coded by @jbg for
WISP as we will share the same code base, if this is deemed beneficial at the time of when the
code is released by @jbg. That means that supporters of the official XSPEC will get all the
improvements promised by @jbg although he no longer works for the project.
XSPEC will continue to develop with a vision of becoming a superior privacy coin and this split
will not detract from that mission. It is therefore possible that XSPEC and the @jbg version will
share code for a while but are likely to diverge as the code will be developed independently in the
future.

Therefore, there will be the official Spectrecoin (XSPEC) continuing as announced in a previous
statement with @mandica, @beachguy and @RKh as the core team and a new blockchain named
WISP where @jbg will the coder. @jbg will make an announcement around how this will be
implemented from his side.

Whilst we are in the process of hiring a full time professional developer for XSPEC, @mammix2
will step in as a developer and consultant and code the next version of the wallet as stated in a
previous announcement. This new version of XSPEC (likely to be known as v. 1.3.7 to bring it in
line with the latest Mac release) will bring the following two major changes to the network:

(1) 5% of the generated output in every block will be directed to a development fund.
(2) The PoS reward will increase to 5.25% per annum to compensate stakers who will not notice
a drop in the number of coins they receive.
(3) The donation slider will still be in effect and stakers will be able to contribute additional funds
to the project if they choose.

This will achieve a minimum of funding for development and contribute to a more professional
structure and work practices for the XSPEC core team. The accounts will be open and
transparent and the development work will be managed and checked and updates will be
provided. Once we are past the interim wallet update we will be able to finalise an updated
roadmap for XSPEC. There should not be any disruptions to the network. Simply download and
run the updated wallet when it is released.

The update will be in two stages:
(1) Upon new wallet release older wallets will be excluded from the network but enough time will
be given for everyone to update.
(2)At a predetermined block height the changes will activate with regards to the dev fund.

Make no mistake, Spectrecoin (XSPEC) is still XSPEC. The upcoming update is the official version
of Spectrecoin (XSPEC) and it is @jbg who has chosen to leave the project to start coding for the
new project known as WISP.

XSPEC will keep the official resources and forums for updates and information and the artwork
and other assets.

The following are the official links for Spectrecoin (XSPEC):

Web: https://spectreproject.io
Bitcointalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2103301.0
GitHub repo: https://github.com/spectrecoin/XSPEC (*)
Twitter: https://twitter.com/SpectreCash
Explorer: https://https://chainz.cryptoid.info/xspec/
Reddit: reddit.com/r/XSPEC
Discord (Only official XSPEC): https://discord.gg/ckkrb8m
Coinmarketcap: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/spectrecoin/

All the links will be updated to reflect the change and both Spectrecoin (XSPEC) and the logos
belong to The Spectreproject and the core team to manage and use.
I created the project and I own the web domains, the original Twitter account, the original GitHub
account and I created the original artwork for XSPEC and created the name for the project. Our
service providers acknowledge me as the project manager for XSPEC.
There also seem to be wide support in the community for a clear direction and steady funding of
the project and a more professional approach to development.

Therefore, XSPEC will assemble a core team or developers and other functions that will work full
time and be open and accountable.

Both the main exchanges, i.e. Livecoin and Cryptopia recognise this update as an official
update of the XSPEC network and they will both run the new version of the XSPEC wallet. I
have been in contact with both exchanges to confirm that they will update to the new
version.

That means that if you do not update to the new version of XSPEC you will NOT be able to
deposit or withdraw XSPEC from the exchanges after the changes have been implemented.

@jbg will continue to develop under the ticker WISP and as the network splits everyone will get an
equal share of XSPEC and the new WISP. So, if you hold 1 XSPEC before the network split youwill have 1 WISP as well after. So, if you own XSPEC you will also own WISP.

XSPEC will endeavour to work with WISP and explore the possibilities of listing WISP alongside
XSPEC if we can get the exchanges to work with us in the upcoming network split. This would
mean that your WISP balance would reflect your XSPEC balance. This remains to be confirmed.

The specific date for the fork / network split will be announced once it has been set. XSPEC will
work with WISP to ensure that there is no network disruption and that you will get your WISP
balance based on your XSPEC balance at the time of the split. This is in some ways similar to the
split that happened with Bitcoin / Bitcoin Cash.

We will also shortly seek to hire further team members for different functions. This will be
announced in the new official XSPEC Discord channel.

Before the "can of worms' was opened with a wallet that would let the owner chose to send none, all and any amount in between
of his stake rewards to the donation address....community donations to the devs was exactly how we did it.

It was thought this way would be smoother, more fair and take care of the devs for some time to come.
Too bad it's turned into some kind of imaginary negative for some folks.

I'm still interested how anyone could imagine a project like SpectreCoin.... that's been going since late 2016, with a large community like we have, could be anything close to a scam.
If it is....it isn't very well orchestrated.... Grin

Maybe the good people of BitCoin Talk would do better at sniffing out the real scams that bilk people out of  hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars. much larger....but harder targets I guess.

You simply stumbled across an automated website that pulls info of roadmaps. Sorry, v2.0 is delayed.......v1.4 possibly
by March 31 but....places like that "to the moon" are nOT the place to keep up with updates.

Keep checking official discord, telegram, reddit . twitter or here....we'll keep you up to date.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Spectrecoin[XSPEC] TOR+OBFS4, Ring Sig, Stealth! on: March 07, 2018, 11:38:06 AM
Posted in our discord community late yesterday by @jbg .....pretty much speaks for itself.

"I have a short update regarding project structure. Even before I needed to take some time off, I had been discussing with a number of longstanding community members about expanding the core team and formalising some kind of "governance" over the project. Given that me taking 10 days off caused such a large disruption, it's clear that these changes need to happen quickly so that the project can keep its momentum even if one member needs to take time off. We now have an idea of what we'd like this to look like, and I'd like to share this with you all. First, we're going to officially grow the core team to include several more people, including at least one more developer but also people with project management and marketing skills. @Mandica is also back in good health and will be participating actively in the core team again. Second, we are introducing bounties to encourage much wider participation in the development of the project. This will be managed via GitHub Issues - anybody will be able to "claim" an issue and upon their successful completion of it, the bounty will be paid to them. This will be funded from the staking donations. I'm working on identifying the areas where I think bounties can be best applied and will create issues soon, but I'd also like to encourage anybody who has ideas for fixes or improvements to propose bounties. The core team will select the bounties that will be funded from staking donations, but anybody can fund a bounty if we don't select it and they want it to be worked on. We hope that these changes will "decentralise" development more effectively and also increase our rate of progress. A specific update about v1.4 will follow in the next days."

"once the core team is in place I want to hand control of incoming donations over to a designated person who will manage the bounties and make results-based payments to me and Bryce as well as fund anything else that needs funding. This designated person will be chosen by the core team collectively, in a public and transparent way, and will be some longstanding, well-known community member. I want to make this change for several reasons, (1) I think philosophically a clean separation of the funding and the development is a good idea, (2) the constant accusations directed at me are taking a significant toll on my wellbeing and my ability to work effectively, and hopefully this will help, (3) the designated person should be able to more clearly weigh the various needs for funding (marketing, core developers, bounties, maybe exchange listing fees, etc) rather than having it managed by a developer with a more narrow view of the project."

"I've now received messages from 8 promising developers, so the odds of expanding the development team are looking good."

@Islapdonkey - I don't think I've ever heard @jbg whine in the 10 months I've worked closely with him....lol....you guys come up with some funny stories.

Great that you own some SpectreCoin[xspec].....don't sell it, you're going to be glad you hodl.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Spectrecoin[XSPEC] TOR+OBFS4, Ring Sig, Stealth! on: March 06, 2018, 11:06:22 AM
If any of you had worked with JBG as closely as Gandalf86 and I had and knew him like we do......you wouldn't even be saying some of the horrible things I've heard here.

I do understand that it's crypto though....and the vast majority here are either fairly new or may have been burned by some project in the past. So they are quick to judge.

Please, how about just keeping your "observations" and "comments" to yourselves and watch a solid project
get stronger with the best privacy tech in the business.

You newer people will learn to be not so quick to judge and others will learn that they were wrong.....
just flat out wrong.

The professional "fudders", which seem to proliferate here on BtCT....
will move on to something more entertaining for them.

There were around 500 projects when SpectreCoin was launched....over 1500 now.....and I'm sure
you can find another target for you venom.

Lots of good things coming
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XSPEC] relativizing recent SCAM allegations on: March 04, 2018, 10:03:54 PM
I and the rest of the xspec community know exactly what he was doing.....why not bother to read the newsletters in our BtCt oP?.....you're trying to hurt our project on purpose for some reason. I'd really like to know why.

Spectrecoin is a solid project with a good future. we have weathered haters like you that come and go....but that's okay since haters going to hate and your rep will grow as one.
So....what's your deal friend?
You have to have some ax to grind.

@cryptolous -  thank you for a rational breath of freshair in the middle of this huge fud cloud of bullsheet.
you won't be disappointed.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Spectrecoin[XSPEC] TOR+OBFS4, Ring Sig, Stealth! on: March 04, 2018, 09:34:19 PM
@koko - what a ridiculous statement.....the man has a life....the coin has been developing since last year.
If every project that released a little later was  scam there would be very few of them.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on the project to die.....just isn't going to happen.
The haters have reached a new level.LOL
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PROOF that XSPEC is a SCAM on: March 03, 2018, 06:59:10 PM
" Also they are trying to get some money from spectre.ai investers cause of name. "

This statement alone should make your whole motive suspect and cause a reasonable person to pause.

There is no "they".....many community comments were made  to that group about the similarity of the names when that exchange project was launched this fall....and @jbg , our project manager and dev, actually quieted the community saying its a different project and the publicity might actually be a positive.
This is a matter of record. Your statement is not.

So, you and the people that are trying to fud the price down for whatever purpose need to go find another
community to try to knock down.

17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]Spectrecoin[XSPEC] TOR+OBFS4, Ring Sig, Stealth! on: March 02, 2018, 08:24:53 PM
ok thx you ! have i change something in the config to stake 100% of my coins ? or is this on default ?
edit - my apologies - I was leaving work and read your question to quickly - all of your eligible coins wil stake by default. You coins age will determine how many stake at any given time.

_______________________________________________________________________________ ____________
as far as donations to the project from staking rewards....

The default is 5%....that is for every 100 stakes you receive five of them are donated.
A stake reward currently consists of 2.15~ xspec.
i personally have my wallet set for 50%.....so every other stake reward goes to support our devs and project.
I get one they get the next one.

You can adjust this in the wallet/client under options>staking donation
while there be sure your staking is enabled by the check mark in the box right above.

And Thank you for your support

Wow xspec is bleeding a lot.
Not really.....like back in late 2017 when it dipped briefly to 2000 sats...it was followed by a spike to 36000 sats.
Xspec is hovering at its latest new floor of 10000 sats as we wait on the next version 1.4...and the more important v2.0.

So enjoy the buying potential....2018 will be a great year for SpectreCoin
