For those wanting to run a node on windows from python. i.e. from latest updates. there is a simple way to set the correct version. edit /p2pool/__init__.py.

on the last line change

__version__ = _get_version()

to

__version__ = 'type the version and build number here'

e.g. I put the last known version then the git number

__version__ = '3.14 Build 8cffc88'

Node now up on latest code from github.

Node restarting due to security updates. Outage will be less than 5 minutes.
124  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer S1 support and OverClocking thread on: September 17, 2014, 11:44:55 PM
Hi everybody (my 1st post)

I have an Antminer S1 and I tried to find the right frequency settings for over 400MHz clocking. I have a seriously modded Antminer pushing at ~205GH/s with an HW error rate of 0.025%.

I know the 400 setting is

option 'freq_value'   '4f81'        #400M
option 'chip_freq'     '400'
option 'timeout'       '35'

but I am looking to overclock to eg. 410MHz --> 425MHz --> 450MHz

Could someone tell what the freq_values for these settings would be.

Much appriciated

#406
#option 'freq_value'    '6002' #406M
#option 'chip_freq'     '406.25'
#option 'timeout'       '35'

So far so good! 4 good blocks no orphan and no stale. (small I know) it's been tricky in AU to find good peers to reduce orphan blocks but this may be a good way to bring some of that latency.
126  Other / Archival / Re: How (and why) to use the Relay Network on: September 17, 2014, 01:02:08 AM
I've downloaded the exe client and am running it with "D:\Temp\relay\relaynetworkclient.exe public.au.relay.mattcorallo.com 127.0.0.1 8333" but I just get the following:

Closing bitcoind socket, failed to connect() (10049: Unknown error)
Closing relay socket, failed to connect() (10049: Unknown error)

What am I doing wrong?

10049 == WSAEADDRNOTAVAIL according to http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/ms740668(v=vs.85).aspx. Any chance you're still on XP or have IPv6 explicitly disabled somewhere, which I think I might have broken in a recent push.
It's server 2012 r2. I don't think ipv6 is disabled but I'll check.
It was disabled. Now its enabled but not configured and I still get the same error. I left it running overnight and it started blocking my bitcoind connection and took my node offline.

Disable the firewall.

nah it was a broken build. the firewall was off Smiley

ok guys, I want to compile p2pool for windows. I've tried a few times but always have issues with missing modules such as twisted and zope. doesn't seem to matter how I install them. anyone got a definitive guide for compiling a new p2pool build on windows with the latest versions of twisted and zope etc

Dell (Delta) fans are good. look for ones like this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141372199742?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

I'm thinking of switching to P2Pool but don't want to run my own node. I've looked at the node list and some like p2pool.org seem like scams. Can someone suggest a node in the southeast i"m in Charlotte NC? Would be running about 10-15TH depending on how I decide to split it. Thanks
Coincadence or mdudes pool node

Norgzpool AU pool now running relay. will add to Singapore node as well shortly.

Matt, do you need an Australian server? I have a 50mbit Fibre link that I could run a server behind, in the next month or two i'll have some Azure compute in AU also.
Hmm, for now I think I'm gonna avoid listing every public p2pool node or pools without at least a few hundred THash/s mining on them.

yeah fair enough, I looked at the list after and realised it was more pools rather than nodes. no probs.
131  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [3500 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: September 14, 2014, 08:27:45 AM
Just a note for those in Australia and on my node. I've now added Matt's relay client to both AU and SG pools and have finished with some tweaking that has caused some instability of late. It should be much more stable going forward.
If you are in Australia I believe my node is the best performing and seems to have the highest hash rate. If you are in Australia come check it out, you can get to it from my sig below.

132  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [P2Pool]Australia & Singapore Norgz Pool mines both BTC and LTC - 0% fee on: September 14, 2014, 08:01:15 AM
Hi all,

I couple of outages of late. Due to some testing and optimisation we had some issues but they are now resolved and the node should be stable and thanks to Matt Corallo's relay there should be much less orphans.

Norgzpool is the biggest p2pool node in Australia and is hosted on VMWare redundant infrastructure and a 50Mbit Fibre link. If you are in Australia and find it too difficult to run up and maintain your own node connect up with no fees and efficient network connections.

Added a list of pools to the second post, respond if you want added to the list.

Might've missed a windows flag, try again with the latest version?

Yup, working now. So I just run it along side p2pool and bitcoind right?

.... tell them all to start looking for career changes, we come to eat their lunch.  Wink

haha well actually we are looking at adding Bitcoin to our product to allow analysis of how it may perform over time and be able to track profit/loss. it can be treated as a cash method and it can be treated as a commodity or even as a forex.
As long as we can get a ticker of price we can start modelling it. My suggestion was if we don't do it now we will be asked for it soon.

Thanks guys, I've got a presentation together. will let you now how it goes. If anyone is interested I'll post a vanilla version up somewhere.

Sorry how do I download this frontend that coinadence uses? I went to the site and didn't see a link to its source. Sad

Thanks for the update info!!

Until next Thursday my focus is getting the new p2pool.org up and running, after that I will direct all my attention to the open source version of the Coin Cadence front-end. I hope to have a beta version up by October 1st.

In the mean time you may want to check out these popular front ends:

Node Status: https://github.com/johndoe75/p2pool-node-status
Example: http://minefast.coincadence.com:9332/static/node-status/

Extended:https://github.com/hardcpp/P2PoolExtendedFrontEnd
Example: http://minefast.coincadence.com:9332/static/extended/

Edit: For Bitcoin forrestv's version is what you want.

Don't forget my front end down below in my sig Wink
