Do you have any control over the protocol other than switching pools?
I might not have good knowledge on p2pool ( I admit that) but what I do know is that we are screaming like girls whenever someone reaches high hashrates and create threads like this one instead of trying to pledge for a PERMANENT solution.
However, it has recently come to my understanding that a permanent solution is not in the plans of the core-dev team for various (and some of them valid) reasons.
Making changes to the protocol at this point will be difficult.
However Gavin himself said he has a "solutoin" should it be needed.

If decentralized mining is added to the protocol itself, problem solved, no need for switching pools. I don't know how that can be done, but if it is, WE ARE OFF TO THE MOON!!!!!!!!I guess you could find a way to make the Bitcoin network only accept hashes from p2pool nodes or that it must meet some other requirement that ensures any hashing power is distributed by a minimum amount. My point is we have a choice as miners to start that already. p2pool varies between 500th/s to 1ph/s and there is talk form some large miners to point a few more ph/s at it. if that's the case then more blocks will be found on p2pool providing more regular payments (less variance) which makes people feel better due to more regular payments. The other awesome thing is that btc is paid directly to your wallet the moment a block is found. no middle man, all payments are listed publically so there is no chance to fudge or cheat it. |

That depends on p2pool owners/moderators.
They can easily manipulate users hash rate just like any other pool.
lol  you need to read a little about p2pool I have heard quite a bit about it. It still doesn't change the fact that the software behind it is controlled by an entity or group. Much like BTC. And I will repeat myself. We can go on forever switching pools or we can solve this once and for all and make BTC mainstream. Switching pools is a temporary solution.The code is open source and if its been modified then peers wont connect to it or allow it to connect, much like the bitcoin core itself. Please explain how you feel p2pool can be modified to trick miners in any way. |

Switching pools will not solve the problem.
The problem has been there from the start and has yet to be solved.....
How is that? and why would they when a user can just jump to another and verify that and keep all shares worked on. to my knowledge, when the pool is reporting the correct version and has peers, it cannot be easily modified to bring any benefit to the pool owner other than the pool fee or merged mining going on the in the background (merged mining does not disadvantage the miner in any way whatsoever byt he way) |

That's what we actually need. We need to grab more miners. Seems like many are shy or lazy to post. I started on p2pool with only 30gh/s and I got some good payouts. variation can be a killer but in the end you get as much or more on p2pool. I have three nodes set up, one in Sydney and a BTC and LTC node/s in Singapore. If we use p2pool as the preferred method of pooled mining then it can never be a 51% pool. (i.e. even if p2pool were 100% it would be distributed and no node could hold the majority). What is needed is for miners to understand that and for some devs to dig deep and see how they can enhance p2pool to be a little more efficient with larger miners. |

that would be safe yes. I've yet to measure it for myself to confirm but from what ive seen allowing 30amps each should be well within safety margins. |

can i use 12volt power from dc transformer of 10a not of smps
plz help me out detail about power supply requirement is it necessary smps or can u adapter of 12 volt dc
you want something with around 30amps per ant miner. the Dell psu I was taling about has around 64amps on the dc rail so could do two ants. the wattage almost isn't even worth paying attention to. Just make sure you see 12v 30amps or higher. |

The Dell 2950 psu with one resister mod is a great one that would run two at stock and is around 20 bucks

Eg if i want to create a php script to query p2pool about my miner's hashrate where do I get this from?

No contact in over a week and no payouts of last cloud contract winners. payments of previous winners seems to have stopped also. Suggest extreme caution.

In light of the odd errors some folks are having with the new alert logic, this version was published before SSH support was added. v2.0 - Added more errorhandling and logging, especially around the new alert logic. - Added email support. This is untested (in the interest of time), but working code that came M's Pool Monitor. Download link: MAntMonitor20.zipPLEASE NOTE: Assuming no additional odd errors come up, next version should have SSH and reboot functionality. After that, unless there is some really feature that folks are looking for that I overlooked, I need to move on to my next project for some time. How many of you try to find nodes close to you and add them to your nodes when you run your node with --p2pool-node?
I've got my own nodes doing that, I have a couple nearby that I have added also. how advantageous is it exactly to do so do you think? does it make a huge difference? |

At the risk of repeating myself, I suggested this over a year ago.... I totally agree that the payments that the dev are getting should be directed at the miners instead - there is far more development being put into p2pool by it's users than the non-dev - which is zero & has been for many months. I suggest everyone start using p2pool with the syntax "--give-author 0" in the command line. It's a temporary fix but will at least ensure that the non-dev stops getting paid for doing nothing until a more permanent solution is found. We need to get p2pool moving forward again - too much time has been wasted already. Peace This is my point. If you are donating to the dev and are not happy about the lack of development then its your own silly fault. Set donation to 0. I agree we need to try and fix the issue with larger miners but I've rented some rigs and they've been quite good. |
