If you cache or run ram drives and have good low latency links then you can run them no probs
322  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer support and OverClocking thread on: June 16, 2014, 07:05:27 AM
How much does your ant fluctuate in it's hash rate?

Looking at the web interface or using Mdudes antmonitor, how much does your ant s1 fluctuate in hashing speed reported?

My s1 running at 400mhz with ~0.327% error rate and ~2% reject hashes on average 203gh/s but it fluctuates between 235gh/s and as low as 187gh/s.

It's running of a dell 750w server psu and has two fans. fan speed is reported as 1740 and temp is 43.

What does your ant do?
323  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: p2pool on free AWS tier? on: June 16, 2014, 03:47:17 AM
No sense re-use p2pool because too bleak earnings

not really on topic and not really a accurate nor qualified statement.

Has anyone noticed improved hash rate by updating cgminer on the Antminer S1?  It looks like the latest firmware from Bitmain is running cgminer 3.12.  I just got mine recently so that's the version it shipped with and it's been running without issue right around 180GH/s each (I didn't overclock... my 750W power supply probably couldn't handle any extra load since I'm running 2 S1's off of it.)

I read your instructions and it seems pretty straight forward to update since I'm very familiar with Linux and ssh.  I'd just like to know what practical benefits I would get from updating.  I'm kind of leaning towards "if it ain't broke don't fix it" unless it would help me out in some way.
As I understand it, the update was meant to fix efficiency issues while using the s1 on p2pool. I'm not sure it makes any difference on other pools. My reject rate is below 5% now with the update and a local p2pool node.
325  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: M's Ant (S1/S2) Monitor v1.9 - now with alerts! on: June 15, 2014, 12:23:03 PM
Nice work mate, thanks so much for putting in the effort on this. I can't wait for my other ants to arrive so I can use this more.

p.s. could you add hardware error rate to the alerts. also just a cosmetic thing, the hash rate is assumed to be gh/s? but it doesn't state it anywhere

Anyone else seeing more orphans of late?
327  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [460 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: June 15, 2014, 06:38:40 AM

I've written a p2pool merged coin payout tool which tries to help with paying out merged coins, but I'll admit it's of limited value. That's mainly because of a few things out of my control:

https://github.com/hunterbunter/p2pool-merged-payout-tool

this is great, i'll be integrating it into my nodes as soon as I have some time.

If no payment is received by Monday I'll be removing their signature from my account.

the signature is not part of the giveaway now so you can remove it anyway.

I have to admit it's not looking good but I'm hopeful that they will come good.
329  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S1 Setup on: June 13, 2014, 03:39:47 PM
I'm thinking some novel reuse of spare or old boards clocked down to be more efficient could make it worthwhile.
330  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Pool Competitors: Want to Stop GHash.IO from getting to 50%? on: June 13, 2014, 03:37:05 PM
All you can do is help users understand that aside from variance, it doesn't matter what pool you mine on as far as profit goes and help them understand how important it is to use distributed pools
331  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [460 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: June 13, 2014, 03:35:08 PM
I don't disagree. Sorry if I'm coming across a bit narcy. I guess its a pet hate carried across from user behavior on other forums.

What do we need?

The block history updated and stats working. I'm happy to continue trying to get my instance working and will update if I make progress.

What else does p2pool need to do that it can't do now?
332  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: BFGMiner 4.2.0: modular ASIC+FPGA, GBT+Strtm, RPC, Mac/Lnx/W64, RockMiner R-BOX on: June 13, 2014, 03:28:58 PM
Has anyone got bfgminer working with an ant s1? I use bfg for everything but have no choice with the s1. I couldn't comment on which is better but it would be nice to have the option.
333  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [460 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: June 13, 2014, 11:58:21 AM
I'm sorry but complaining like that just makes you sound like a bitching spoiled brat. maybe you are only 12 and are a spoiled brat, I don't know but honestly grow a pair and contribute yourself or shut the f up.

Lots of sticks & stones there - but no answers or facts - because you don't know. Everything you said is based on assumption.

I invite forrestv to please post here on his own thread with an update on what is happening with regards the development of p2pool & p2pool.info so as to stop everyone having to guess what is going on & put an end to all the childish name calling being done by certain individuals. It's about time you spoke up.

Agreed. I too would like to hear something from the dev here - watching & waiting in anticipation..... Wink

@Norgan: Not everyone who uses p2pool is a coder or programmer - give it a rest please.

I invite anyone to assist rather than complain https://github.com/norgan/p2pool.info-norgan

I'm doing what I can but I can't get the block stats updated. Windpath has some cool stuff on his pager that shows some or most of the missing stats.
334  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [460 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: June 13, 2014, 10:34:31 AM
P2Pool.info gives over Weeks no Data. Thats a piece of shit Sad

Yup. It's pure shit - the dev here doesn't care.

If you were the dev (doing it essentially or free) would these posts make you feel like doing more work for unappreciative people who would rather bitch about what they are not getting that they feel entitled to and do not contribute anything back? Are you donating to p2pool? have you contributed any code? anything?
335  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CGMINER ASIC miner monitoring RPC linux/win/osx/mips/arm/r-pi 4.3.5 on: June 13, 2014, 09:47:31 AM
are we able to update the cgminer on the s1 or is it best to leave with the older build?

https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer-binaries/tree/master/AntS1

yeah thanks I know about that one. but I just wondered if the main fork that says it supports s1 could be used to keep it more up to date. (I just like to have the latest lol)
I'll not update the S1 until I've sorted out the S2 issues - since I've no idea if those issues will affect the S1 also - and the last S1 release is pretty stable.

S1 patch works great with p2pool.  So I don't think the issues affect the S1.

M

yeah there's nothing wrong with the current s1 build. I am just one of those who love to know I am running the very latest code. haha

Thx for reply

I want to overclock my s1's I assume people are using putty to do this can someone give me a link for download I used some sight and there was three puttys which do i use or is there a better program to use?

Many thanks

Sorry I am a bit of a noob

No payment received yesterday, first payment anyway Grin
what happen? they said that they activated my contract yesterday and i'll received payment in 24 hours

some issue with the Dev apparently not starting the contracts. I've emailed them a couple of times. coming on 7am in the uk so hopefully we'll know more soon.

339  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: p2pool on free AWS tier? on: June 13, 2014, 04:55:03 AM
Has anyone tried setting up p2pool on Amazons AWS free tier? I have been trying but cant get it to work right. I think the problem is that it doesnt have enough RAM but I cant find any specifics as to how much is required. Any thoughts?

yeah I have this also but not even going to try with such a small machine. Remember those machines are shared and have limits on files and memory outside of the raw mb limit.
340  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S1 Setup on: June 13, 2014, 04:16:14 AM
btw, is there a way to run the miner without the control board?
or can we change the controlboard?
something's wrong with my controlboard, it just wont start hashing

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=344970.msg7271224#msg7271224

i have to wait bitmain to reply to my case, and have to wait him send me a good controlboard
IF...they send me one...

I'm going to say no from a cable stand point. The mining boards use a very specific cable which no other controller will use.

if you look at the logs the boards are a USB interface. I reckon if you could get a pinout of that cable then any USB interface should do and with cgminer and I think bfgminer supporting s1's they should be able to control those blades directly from any device that can run opwnwrt, Linux or windows.
