great to see a few of those donations coming through. I just got another today.

how hard would it be to enable poolers cpuminer? I know cpu isn't used much but I do have some high end xeon cpu's that give me decent hashing rates and would love to be able to start and monitor them via multiminer. I've copied it to the miners directory but I don't think it recognised it.

while we are on requests lol

can I ask that an entry can be edited. so when you add in an ant you can edit it's properties such as refresh time?

Right now the refresh time is the same across all of them.  Are you suggesting you'd like to refresh some more often than others?

M
At the moment I only have one, soon to b three and I would love to see the refresh pretty quick on all of them (now that they are using API) and don't see why I would want to set any different refresh except maybe if one was off site. I thought the refresh was per device, the feature request however is more to be able to modify an entry. Like changing the IP address rather than remove and re add.

hahaha actually this aligns with Christian behaviour more than it does anything else Tongue
367  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [460 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: June 10, 2014, 04:40:17 AM

so username would be address/0+230
cool I will try that
I am actually averaging 963ghs with my S2 on p2pool @ 110% efficiency over 3 days and I was averaging 1003ghs on ghash.io

yuip, that's for an s1, your s2 would have a different figure. 963 isn't too bad, when you have 1th/s 40gh/s isn't much but it's 40gh/s you would otherwise have generating coin.
368  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [460 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: June 10, 2014, 03:29:07 AM

Thanks for the link. I have not put my S1s on my p2pool yet because with my S2 on it they get high diff on the s1's. Now that I hear S2 is not currently efficient on p2pool I may swap and put my S1's on it with the new cgminer and put my S2 on reg pool.

I assume you void warranty when you upgrade cgminer this way Smiley

Is it possible to restore to default after this update by using the reset button on S1? or would I have to remove the updated cgminer manually?

you can revert back easily as you only rename the old one. you simply rename it back to go back to default. I don't think changing cgminer could void hardware warranty but you'll need to ask Bitmain about that.
If you have your s1's and the s2 on your node then use the diff setting as specified a couple of pages back.

essentially you add a /0+diff to the end of your miner address. for an s1 at around 200gh/s it's /0+230

Quote
If your running S1's set <share> to 0 ("0" defaults to lowest p2pool diff, currently 1677854.73)

And <pseudo_share> to 220.4 (optimized for 190GH/s)

<pseudo_share> is calculated as your hash rate in KH/s times 0.00000116

i.e. 190,000,000 * 0.00000116 = 220.4

So, right before the latest block found and usual virgin generated BTC payout, there was another much smaller payout that wasn't generated, but it did go to p2pool associated wallet addresses.

Was that a general donation to P2Pool miners, or was that mdude77's merged mining donations being sent out to everyone?

Wasn't me.

M

Oh well... may be a donation then?  Good news regardless...

Wait, None of you guys got this little tip in your P2Pool associated addresses?

I'm not in p2pool.  I'm not wasting 10% of my hashpower pointing my S2s at it.

M

P2pool not worth it with S2?

Kano is working on a driver that may help this. It's always worth it but you need to be ok with initially loosing 10% due to efficiency issues with p2pool. Hopefully Kano can get the new cgminer driver out for the s2 soon Smiley
370  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [460 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: June 10, 2014, 02:18:03 AM

actually p2pool.info is open source and I have a copy running on Azure in an effort to help. only thing is I don't know how to get it up to date. It shows current users and hash rate as well as expected time to next block but the luck and time between older blocks is out due to those stats missing.

https://github.com/ervwalter/p2pool.info is the github

p2poolinfo.azurewebsites.net is the site I ran up.

As little coding as I know I have managed to help out where I can by running up this extra instance and doing some work on the node front end.

My mistake then... Sorry about that.

What we need are more developers taking a look at the codebase and figuring out what's up with the data.
And if Forrestv can find the time, maybe he can chime in as well.

Of course this really applies to both p2pool.info and p2pool core. It's long past time to spread the development love beyond a single point of failure.

No problems, I get that my history isn't as high or as long as some but one thing I do is my research. when I start something I look pretty hard to find out how it all goes together and try, where I can, to help if I have the skills to do so.
That is why I find it a little offensive for someone to try to pull rank on me. It's not about that, it's about doing what you can and if you can't help then donate or help get more resources in. Complaining doesn't really achieve much, right... Wink

Windpath has some good stats that he posted in recent pages in this thread but I wish I could get the blocks up to date on the instance I ran up so that people using p2pool could have more confidence and transparency.

PatMan, my time or rank on this board should not have any bearing on my ability to work with open source projects and know how to work with projects such as this and with the devs who graciously give their time to do these projects.
I've been involved for many years on various boards, forums and projects, not that I have to justify myself to you.

I am simply calling it as I see it. yes it would be nice to see more development and I love new builds as much as the next but what goal does complaining about it achieve? He may have been taking donations but it's probably far less than the commercial rate he should be working for such a project and I think these days it's few and far between to have a node with donation set.

You choose p2pool to support decentralized pool hashing or you go take more regular payouts elsewhere. Let's actually try to find a solution to problems rather than just pointing them out. That's the whole point of an open source project.

What do we need to do to attract devs to contributing to the core p2pool project? obviously the original dev has either no time, no interest and/or no motivation to contribute further so how do we get more on board to help?

Like yourself I am no coder either and would contribute if I could, however, since I can't I have no place to complain about that lack of development. put up or shut up really, pretty good mantra in life and especially open source projects. Wink

Just to bring this tangent back to earth.... And to be fair....

The original questions surrounded the fixing and updating of the p2pook.info status site.

This is not a p2pool node and the code for this Azure hosted site (please other long time p2poolers, please correct me if I'm wrong), was closed source and not available on Github.

P2pool.info was originally a 3rd party service that was well maintained and updated for awhile and many used it as a great reference (including some of the prominent pool comparing statisticians here on the forums). It was basically the only place that people could see the overall long term block statistics, user statistics, and most important for a lot of us, the Luck Graph for the whole p2pool network.

Then, earlier this year, forrestv took over running the formerly third party site because the original owner/developer didn't have the time to devote to it.  He did the correct thing and announced in this thread that he needed to move on and asked for someone to take over. Forrestv graciously stepped up when no one stepped up and the original developer gave him the site and all associated account/code stuff.

Jump ahead a few months and now p2pool.info is down for more than a month and forrestv replied to my query saying he would take a look when he had a chance (a few weeks ago).

No one else can really contribute to p2pool.info at the moment, unlike p2pool in general, due to it not being open. So we can only poke forrestv and see if he can take the time to get it back up and running.

That's why people are up in arms.   So your argument about other developers joining in to help and the open source argument doesn't really apply in this case.

very nice mdude77, 1.8 works perfectly and now that it uses API I can run the smooth bootstrap interface Smiley thanks again, let me know your btc address so I can send you a small donation to say thanks.

Thanks!  I have it on the bottom of the app:

Look, all p2pool code is available on githib, including the stat page. The dev does this for free essentially and you are most welcome to contribute via github. If you complain about lack of updates, then I'm sorry but you just sound like an ungrateful brat.
Why would the dev respond to such behavior?

Either put your money where your mouth is and donate or contribute code yourself. Don't come crying here about lack of dev updates.
You can choose to use another commercial pool if you are not happy.
377  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: MinerTechnologies.com - 3 TH/S and 200MH/S ASM1 for sell / Cloud contracts. on: June 09, 2014, 12:36:16 PM
Looks like it runs pretty hot. I thought the single fan and lack of ventilation was a sure sign of cooling problems. What the error rate like? Have you considered opening the front of the case more and maybe additional fans?
378  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer support and OverClocking thread on: June 08, 2014, 07:45:28 AM
Here is my experience with overclocking:
in asic-freq i use this:
        option 'freq_value'    '6002'  #406M
        option 'chip_freq'     '406.25'
        option 'timeout'       '35'

added second fan from russian military device, it sounds loud but gives high air flow.

are you over volting this ant? how do you find the heat from the vregs? are you running additional heatsinks?

I have an s1 running 400mhz with 0.1% error rate, 40C and fan at 1080. was toying with the idea of overclocking more but don't want to blow it since it hasn't roi'd yet and is brand new.

Notifications will be sent by SMS text message to your mobile phone. All My Wallet accounts get 5 free SMS messages per day, more can optionally be purchased in the [Account Details] section.

https://blockchain.info/wallet/payment-notifications

It would probably be advisable to use email notification rather then SMS notification. Generally SMS are displayed on your phone's screen for anyone to see while emails are not.

You probably wouldn't want anyone near your phone that you just received money from someone, would you?
I'm not too fussed about that. Either way its about having the choice. Each person is different so configure to your liking.
I really just wanted to know when a block was solved and I got a mining payment.

the rats are leaving the ship lol pool is down around 300th/s now. I guess we have some impatient miners.

I just added 3th/s using betarigs.com. not bad for testing or just boosting your hashing for a short period of time.
