501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [NEW] Bitmain Announces Antminer A3 on: January 26, 2018, 04:12:10 PM
Can I run 2 A3's on a 10-30R 30A 125/250V outlet ?. We use this for dryers, but thought of using this to mine as this is the only 220v that I can find in my home ? However I understand this is old setup, will it work fine with continuous load. Thanks.

I'm running 2 A3 and a L3+ on a 30A 240V circuit. Consumption is around 13A for all 3 devices. I could still do another 2 A3 and another L3+.

I am selling Antminer A3 , if anyone interest let me know, its brand new unit. Thanks.

What are you asking?
503  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone else having issues with their Antminer A3? on: January 26, 2018, 02:31:06 PM
Managed to get one unit stable at 61/62c on hashboards at 500mhz with 90% fan speed. The other unit is stable at 61/62C on hashboards at 550mhz with 90% fan speed. Others are saying you can push them up to 80C, but that will obviously reduce the lifespan of the device. (700Gh/s on one, 760Gh/s on the other)

504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [NEW] Bitmain Announces Antminer A3 on: January 26, 2018, 02:07:03 PM
Is it possible to decrease core voltage on any other bitmain products?

Edit:

I manually set fan speed to 100% and the temps are hovering at around 60c now with 525mhz.

505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [NEW] Bitmain Announces Antminer A3 on: January 26, 2018, 01:13:22 PM

I think the problem here is the voltage the chips are running at. Even at 525mhz, woke up this morning to find one miner operating at 80C. It doesn't seem to make a difference on heat of what the freq is.

506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [NEW] Bitmain Announces Antminer A3 on: January 26, 2018, 02:36:47 AM
Just received the miner. It is freaking loud at my apartment. I am pretty sure someone is going to complain. I tried setting the fan speed to 70% but chip temperature is going beyond 90 C. What is the ideal fan speed and temperature guys? PCB is around 70 and chip around 100.. Is that too much?

PCB can never go to 80 or it will break...

Try to keep it at 60-70 for best results.

I recommend opening your window and pointing the outtake fan towards it. Also, You can only lower the fan if you are going to lower the frequency as well otherwise it will overheat.

I recommend getting earplugs to sleep because it will be hard but would be best for right now. Either that or call a friend and ask them to run it in a spare room for the next 1 week while you buy fan shrouds, cooler, and insulated flexible duct to make a box to silent it a little.

Window is open and people walking outside can hear it very well. It is like a vacuum cleaner running lol

Right now, the fans are at 5800 RPM (auto mode), PCB is 65-70, chip temp is 90-92. Getting 830 GHS

I tried setting fan speed to 70%. That significantly reduced the noise but chip temp were at 100 within few mins. I switched back the fan speed to auto. If I let it say at 70%, chip temp would hit 110 I guess. lol.

Now, what is the max chip temp that is "ok" for device to at least last 6-7 month?

If I want to lower the noise, I guess I have to underclock. Is "frequency" the settings to underclock? Can you tell me what range I should try changing and play with so I can lower the noise (and also hopefully keep the temperature ideal)?

Sorry about too many questions. This is my first ASIC. Have been running GPU rigs always...

I underclocked mine to 550 and they're still running at 75C with 30F air on the input side.

Are you US based? How do you wire up the Sonoff Pow on US 220v?  I couldn't find any 220 wiring instructions...

Yeah, I'm US based and I run it on both 240v and 208v systems no problem - in either case, there's still only 3 wires (assuming you're using C13 or C19 plugs, which you probably are).  The Sonoff has the labels L (line), N (neutral) and E (earth) if I remember correctly - so it should be the same for your plug wiring, the only difference is that they call earth -> ground here typically.  Then just pay attention to their wiring diagram:

https://www.itead.cc/wiki/images/c/c7/Sonoff_Pow_Wiring.jpg

But as you see, they're tolerant 90v to 240v, so they work great.

The difference between 240v and 120v is that 240v is 2 hots and a ground. 120 volt is a hot a neutral and a ground. You need a 2 pole breaker. The voltage between both poles is 240v.

RIP!!
lol yeah its down to 200 a day or less , this was expected by most of us though.

I predict this will be a $50 a day miner , still a 1.5 month ROI which is solid
its been what 5 days since launch? most folks dont even have thier A3s yet
hash rate will tripple by next week

I didn't get my order in until 1 hour after it started (after they had already sold out once and reopened). I just received mine today (1hr ago). I've got to be pretty close to the end. I think we'll probably level out around $100-$175/day for the next 30-60 days. Keep in mind, block time is going to decrease in a couple days. That $100-$175/day will shoot back up to $300-$525/day.

actully you were near the begining becuase they sold units on the 17th and 18th , my buddy orderd two units on the seccond day via ups, his units dont arrive till tomorrow.  My brother and I get ours today.

how does the block time affect earnings nomaly algos just adjust difficulty or block reward to compensate dude

More blocks in a shorter time = more Sia rewards in a shorter time. The diff adjustment code was broken and they just fixed it on block 139000. Devs said it won't fully kick in for 3 days

Here's the print out from the PDU:

Bank1 (15A circuit) has a L3+ and 24 port dlink switch plugged into it. Unfortunately this model doesn't give me per outlet view only total current used on that circuit. My input voltage does seem to fluctuate between 240 and as high as 248. I think I'm just going to throw my kill-a-watt away and upgrade my multi to a fluke.

I believe 3 phase 220 is the most efficient form of power- I believe its best for mining.

Umm no...tell your electrician you want 1 phase 220v. 3 phase is completely different and not compatable with 220v psu.

There is no 220v in people's homes. The electrician will probably look at him like he has 4 heads.

It's 240v split-phase. 2 hots + 1 ground from a 2 pole breaker (and grounding bar). Each hot is 120V 180 degrees out of phase. When one hot is +120v the other hot is -120, the difference is 240v.

You A3 owners are a bunch of A holes talkin trash to the Sia Devs.  And yet you mine their coins you greedy bastards

I demand a hard fork instead.  Polarized mining community we have here.

Yes, you are right. I demand a hard fork too. On decred because the obelisk miner is going to 51% attack the network! The SIA dev fork to destroy their competition the A3! Now they want to destroy other coins! Watch out!

513  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Anyone else having issues with their Antminer A3? on: January 25, 2018, 06:23:36 AM
I received my A3 this afternoon and having been having some problems. When I first set it up, everything was working flawlessly. Hashing at 833GHs on Siamining, no HW errors, everything smooth. About 2 hours later I checked again and saw my hashrate dropped in half with a bunch of X's on one of the hashboards. Since then I've only been able to reach 500-600 GHs, and am getting HW errors on different boards whenever I refresh. Anyone else having issues? I would normally try reflashing the firmware but it's not available on Bitmain's support page.

Ya, sia coin developers were testing a soft fork to render the A3 useless. The total hashrate for the whole network dropped by almost half around 1:30PM EST. Hashrate dropped for all A3 on every pool simultaneously.

This coins difficulty is going up higher than the ETH difficulty even

Those who haven't received their ASIC yet must be really feeling it every 30 mins that the difficulty adjusts higher and higher.

It adjusts 0.40% every block. So it will take a while to adjust up to a fair difficulty.

Fun fact: Out of the 15,000+ A3's that Bitmain sold last week, only ~1,700 are currently mining.

any proof link to 15k A3 sold by Bitmain?

a lot of assumptions here on sold amount, but not a single has a trustable source...

Trustable sources aren't required. They can just say whatever they want. That's how this game works. Watch.

OMG OBELISK IS GOING TO DESTROY DECRED! THEY ARE ATTACKING ALL THEIR COMPETITION. FIRST THEY FORKED SIACOIN TO DESTROY THE BITMAIN A3 NOW THEY WANT TO DESTROY DECRED WITH THEIR DCR1 MINER!!!!!! CAREFUL EVERYONE THEY ARE GOING TO 51% ATTACK DECRED! WE SHOULD SOFT FORK DECRED TO PREVENT THE MALICIOUS EVIL OBELISK MINERS FROM HAVING CENTRALIZED DECRED CONTROL! THEY USED ALL THEIR BTC FROM PREORDER TO SLOWLY BUY TOKEN FOR VOTING! THEY NOW CONTROL THE DECRED NETWORK!

515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Antminer A3 earning $500 a day mining SIAcoin . .WHAT?! Results & Stats on: January 25, 2018, 06:12:50 AM

Bitmain has centralized farms/pools for bitcoin, litecoin, dash, and now Sia.  Enough is enough already. Open your faking eyes

Sia's decision to break this monopoly is a good thing and shame on you wannabe decentralized miners for not supporting the Devs for fighting against Bitmain dominance.

Sia has to Fork and control the Sia coin to fend off aggressive Bitmain.  If it takes some coin centralization to do this then so be it.

If you don't support Sia Dev's don't mine their coin!

Ya, sorry. I guess next time I'll pre-order at $2000/btc so I can sit back and watch btc go up 10x and lose out on it. I mean, sure, giving someone your money to do development with and then sit on your hands for 10 months waiting is great. Who the fuck would want their miner in 10 days? That's just fucking crazy. Is there anyone here who would like to hold my money for 10 months? Any takers?

SIA's response to this shows their true colors. They're no better than bitmain. Just look at the doublethink they spew all over reddit. They constantly post bullshit saying 2 different things at the same time sometimes even in the same damn sentence. I will never support their project again, and I will take my enterprise customers back to S3 and GCS. They're raging out and mad they lost their race to market.

Hey, at least their network is 'secured' now. Because apparently asic is the only way to 'secure' it. I told them they were full of shit when they wanted to make asics back in July. Hey, I'm just senseless. NOW EVERYONE GO PRE-ORDER SOME MORE SHIT!

I like how they self-imposed arbitrary rules on bitmain like they're lords of the universe. "Bitmain didnt say how many they sold", "Bitmain didnt say they were making it", "Bitmain didnt bla bla bla". Their devs are on reddit crying worse than my 5 year old after getting smacked in the face with a ball today. It's like they've never been in business  before. Ever.

Support me on the decred redit. Let's push the decred community to soft fork to defend itself against the obelisk dcr1 miner. The SIA development team have proven themselves untrustworthy. Who knows what they will do with all that decred asic hardware?! They will probably 51% attack the network! I heard that they sold 1 million miners!

https://www.reddit.com/r/decred/comments/7st4fw/obelisk_51_attack_is_coming/

1 million miners! yeah that doesn't sound credible.

Hey, a guy said it. It must be true. Just like how siacoin community believes that bitmain produced 100,000 A3's. Some guy said it, must be true. Let's work together to defend decred from obelisk!

Just because some guy said it doesn't make it true, you need hard data before you can make such an accusation.  Also isn't obelisk working with the Decred dev team? why would they attack their own livelihood?

Apparently that's not needed at all. Just look at SIA devs developing softfork, testing it out, and taking miners offline in the process.

I don't know if they're working with them or not. What I do know is that they've made mud slinging, complete fabrications, and protecting their own profits acceptable. So, that's what I'm going to do. I will mud sling, fabricate, and protect my profits just as they are doing to me. If that means fabricating bullshit about their other product to put them in the same position they're putting me in, so be it.

Same coin, same pool, same hashhate?
This is weird, maybe some issue at your kill-a-watt, try to measure with another one.

By the way, my kill-a-watt only work at 127v, you should confirm if your can work ate 240v.

Yes to all. I was only using the kill-a-watt on 120v. I setup a new circuit at 240v for my miners. The enterprise grade PDU is now doing the the measuring, not the kill-a-watt. I'm more likely to trust the enterprise grade PDU than I am the $15 kill-a-watt. But, I couldn't believe the difference was that much.
