701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 560 4GB Ethereum on: June 09, 2017, 02:32:41 PM
i did some test with POWERCOLOR RED DRAGON RX560 4G by stock it managed to produce averagely 12MH/s. Topped at 13.1MH/s, with the draw of 43watts.

not really bad isn't it?

What happens when you crank the mem clock up to 2ghz+ and update the bios timings?
702  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building my first mining rig. on: June 09, 2017, 02:25:29 PM
You're not going to be able to build a mining rig right now. AMD GPUs are sold out worldwide. In the past 2 weeks I've called maybe 60 shops looking for cards in 5 different countries. I found 2 RX570s.

Cards are supposed to be back in stock in 2-4 weeks. However, with mining as profitable as it is now they will get sold out instantly. Many of the shops I called had queues for people pre-paying for video cards and lining up to get them.

I got a newegg notification that they had RX 570s in stock. I went to check it out, sure enough they had them in stock with a limit of 1 per customer. It'd take 2 weeks for me to get the card if I ordered from the US. I went to talk to someone to debate if I should buy it or not. I decided to buy it. I went back to newegg clicked 'add to cart' and the cards were already sold out.

703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: RX 580 Bios mod for Linux on: June 09, 2017, 02:16:44 PM
Hello,

I've succeeded to built stable 10 GPU rig on MSI RX 580 cards using Ubuntu 16.04(4.4.x kernel) and 17.10 drivers. (Asus Z270P + 2 splitters, disabled sound and serial in BIOS and enabled 4g)
But the problem is in power consumption(~200W per card on solo mining on modded bios) and hashrate(25MH only). Afaik there is no possiblity to increase mem frequency and downvolt cards in Linux and the only way is to flash the bios with fixed GPU/mem frequency and voltage.  Does anybody have such expirience? It it too risky? I'm ready to donate some coins for useful suggestion or help in this question

Best regards,
Serge

I have windows installed on a SSD. I build the rig, boot windows, update all the vbios, shut down, plug in the ubuntu 16.04 drive, test stability / hashrate... rinse.. repeat..

It's annoying not being able to flash in linux.. But it only really adds some extra time.

If you want help send me a PM; I can help you on skype. My RX 580's are doing 27.25/600 ETH/SC at 120W -- I was only able to use the 1750 strap, the 1500 strap is unstable on my RX580s. My RX570s on the other hand are doing 30.5/300 ETH/SC with the 1500 strap at around 120W as well.

704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does GPU mix and match cause the system to crash? on: June 09, 2017, 10:00:14 AM

Flashed MB bios to latest, no dice
Flashed card bios back to stock, no dice
Flashed card bios back to 1500 timings, gpu underclock, mem overclock, no dice

dunno, guess i'll mine on 1 and wait for my risers to get here tomorrow then try to run them along side the other node that has my RX580s. If it still doesn't work then, guess I'll have to split the cards up.

705  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Building Cheap Miners : My "Secret" on: June 09, 2017, 08:31:26 AM

My secret is, I pay a little more and buy DL580 G7s for $500 -- $125/mo monero cpu mining and up to 12 GPUs without a breakout board. It also comes with 4x 1200W PSUs. Just make sure to buy some ear plugs so you don't go deaf.

706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: So confused.. Asus RX 480 8Gb on: June 09, 2017, 08:16:58 AM
Are you using Claymore's Dual miner?  What is your intensity set at for Sia?  I had to drop my -dcri to 12 to get back to good Eth hashrates.  On my Gigabyte Aorus RX 580, I'm at 29MH/s for Eth and 350MH/s for Sia.

Is that with 1500 timings? I can only manage to get 27/600 eth/sc from my gigabyte RX580. They'll only run with the 1750 timings, crashes with the 1500. Dropping SC intensity does not take it any higher.
707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does GPU mix and match cause the system to crash? on: June 09, 2017, 04:36:08 AM

I flashed the firmware from the RX570 nitro to the RX570 pulse (my pulse now thinks it's a nitro). It mined a bit longer -- went from 15-30 seconds to 2-3 minutes (submitting multiple shares before crashing).

I then tried running multiple miner instances (1 instance for each card). Same, 2-3 minutes then crash.

708  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: So confused.. Asus RX 480 8Gb on: June 09, 2017, 04:15:33 AM
I would but now even more weird, the 2nd video card won't change from 300mhz memory clock. like it's stuck. It was working fine and actually started doing 26mh/s just now then the pc crashed, since it's been back up, nothing but stuck at 300. Tried reinstalling the drivers but no dice. Gonna try reflashing it again to see if that fixes it.

That happens when memory overclock fails. You need to manually modify the bios because every card is different. Maybe one card will be fine at 2150mhz mem freq and another will crash at anything over 2000mhz.

709  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Rig with very different GPUs (970, 1070 and Fury 9) on: June 09, 2017, 03:09:42 AM
I have a system i'm building now with 2x RX570s, one is a sapphire pulse the other a sapphire nitro, both 4gb. I can mine on either for hours no problem, if I put them both together the system crashes within 15 seconds of starting to mine. Maybe it's a problem with my setup, but I'm using the same setup for another build without any issues. Dunno, you could try it.

710  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Does GPU mix and match cause the system to crash? on: June 09, 2017, 03:04:59 AM

I have a system I just built with 1x RX 570 pulse 4GB and 1x RX 570 nitro 4gb. The system runs fine with just the pulse or nitro. If both are together it crashes (screen shows lines / hard crash). I've been playing with memclock and gpuclock settings for a few hours now thinking that was the problem. Until I realized it wasn't.

Why are they crashing? Is it the mining software that's the problem, drivers, or what? Is there a fix? I don't really want to build another system just for 1 gpu.

I'm running ubuntu 16.04 with AMDGPU-PRO-17.10

maybe

first off  are you sure the cards are stock bios?

try smOS instead.  it is linux based  so if it works it is a driver issue on your linux setup

no, they aren't stock bios. I modified them to 1500, gpu underclock and mem overclock myself. (30.5Mh/s eth, 375Mh/s sc on the nitro, 27Mh/s eth, 375Mh/s sc on the pulse)

I can run either card fine by itself for hours. When they are together it crashes instantly (literally, 15-30 seconds after dag creation completes it dies).

I'm using the same setup for my gigabyte rx580s and it works fine. But, due to GPU shortages I just bought what was available instead of looking for matching cards.
711  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: So confused.. Asus RX 480 8Gb on: June 09, 2017, 02:59:16 AM
The only thing I've found that actually gives some noticeable increase in hashrate is to adjust the memory timings in the vbios.

I have the same problem as you with some RX580s. Unfortunately I can only use the 1750 timing there so they cap out at 27Mh/s with 2150 mem clock. But it makes no difference even at 2000 mem clock the hashrate is the same.

Grab polaris and modify the original vbios yourself, no reason to download random roms from the net.

713  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Are the sellers on aliexpress of pci-e extenders all scams? on: June 08, 2017, 03:32:06 PM
My order of 10x finally shipped. Well, at least, they printed the shipping label. Neither of my orders were given to the shipping company yet after 8 days and 6 days.

The items only take 24 hours to get to my house when using dhl, fedex, etc. I'm located in asia. I bought some other items on June 6. I had AMAZING service on those orders. I received all my items today, June 8. It took them 2 days to receive the order, ship it, and for it to be delivered. But, these extenders, wow, I'd never order from these companies again. The one is just straight up lying to me saying they gave the package to the shipping company. The status of the shipment does not say it was picked up. Also, I called and they said they haven't received the item yet. Why would they just lie to me like that?

I'm wondering if maybe the ver006c tishric are just not in stock? Then they don't want to say they don't have them for fear of losing the order. I don't know. I'm highly annoyed as I have a stack of video cards here not making money because i have no risers!

714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Are the sellers on aliexpress of pci-e extenders all scams? on: June 08, 2017, 11:02:25 AM
I ordered 10x tishric ver006c from 'ShenZhen TISHRIC Factory Store' on May 31st. 8 days in, no shipment, no replies after saying they were going to ship them. I cancelled the order today.

I ordered 6x tishric ver006c from 'Micro computer products' on June 2nd. 6 days in, they entered a fake tracking number, then updated the tracking number 24 hours after, and after 2 days of having issued a real tracking number still have not given the package to the shipping company.

Are all the sellers of pci-e extenders aliexpress scams or what? I ordered some other non-mining related items on June 6 and I already have them. Has anyone successfully ordered pci-extenders from aliexpress?

715  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's Dual Ethereum AMD+NVIDIA GPU Miner v9.4 (Windows/Linux) on: June 05, 2017, 03:44:34 PM
Google says the file contains a virus! Looks like someone integrated claymore into some trojan software.
Anyway, I can't download the zip file..

Use MEGA link in OP. Some time ago I even got a message from a man who caught a virus that just starts my miner with "hacker's" wallet address and even does not disable the log file, so this man checked the log, googled a bit and found me on this forum. Then he registered here and told me via PM that he is angry and probably I'm the most stupid virus writer on this planet since I wrote my name in the log file and I can be so easily reached.
Well, I tried to explain the situation of course Smiley

Already done, Just wanted to make sure you were aware of the issue. Thanks for your continued work.

717  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why are rich countries rich and poor countries poor? on: June 01, 2017, 12:11:52 AM

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resource_curse

If you can walk out your front door any time of the year and grab fruit from a tree, why would you concern yourself about storing food? Long term planning is something most low iq, resource rich, low gdp per capita countries lack. Long term planning is the basis for any rich country. If you look at the IQ map posted, most high IQ countries fall within temperate zones where long term planning is required to survive winter. These countries also tend to have the highest GDP per capita aside from a few outliers. Reminds me of Cebu, Philippines where they purchased a bunch of extended length buses for use in mass transit. The buses got here and then they realized.... Oops! The buses are too long! They can't make the turns when driving through the city streets!

Regarding corruption, it's been my experience that when there is a corrupt leader the population itself is also corrupt. These corrupt countries also tend to be in areas with no long term planning and low average IQ rankings. What the corrupt leader fails to understand when they're selling out their country is that they can make more money via corruption with long term planning and building their country up than they can by raping it. Take zimbabwae as an example, printing money to the point that they've stolen all wealth of the nation. Mugabe has been in power for 30 years, devalued the currency so that it's worthless, and systematically raped the country. If instead, he had built up his country he would have been able to steal what their current annual gdp is and no one would even notice! Their current GDP is only 14 billion annually. If he had built up his country to the scale of south africa, he could steal 14 billion annually and still have 298 billion to build up the country! His shortsightedness not only robbed him but everyone in the country.

718  Economy / Gambling / Re: Betcoin rigged? on: May 30, 2017, 03:42:25 PM
Their RNG is broken. I've got identical hands on 2 different tables at the same time (same suits, same cards, identical...) -- MULTIPLE times. That's with less than 1000 hands played there. And for you guys who gni gni gni about probability.. There is a probability that the universe will flash out of existence or the sun will explode.. But here we are...

Also can't count the number of times there are 3 of a kind on the flop. Again, less than 1000 hands.

I certainly won't be playing there again after today. Just thought I'd try it out.

btw, sorry to resurrect a dead thread but it's #1 on google for "betcoin poker rigged"

720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / What package is amdconfig in on Ubuntu 16.04? on: May 24, 2017, 02:20:11 PM

I just setup a few gpu miners today trying to get back into the swing of things.

I have the units mining, but am unable to tweak them as I can't find the aticonfig/amdconfig utility anywhere. I installed the latest amdgpu-pro driver (17.10) on Ubuntu 16.04 x86_64. It's mining just fine, but the utility necessary to modify clock rates, etc is missing. Any ideas?
