1522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Factom Will Sell Up To 100% Of Its Bitcoin Reserves on: April 17, 2015, 06:42:55 AM
Quote

Factom, a Bitcoin 2.0 Non-Profit Organization, is going to sell 85-100% of its bitcoin reserved raised in its crowdsale.

Factom is a project that aims to build on top of the bitcoin blockchain to provide a ‘permanent, time-stamped record of your data in the blockchain’. This means that a user can store a permanent record of a document on the blockchain by using Factom, which will charge you a small fee. This can be used for many purposes, such as reducing the costs and complexities of conducting audits, managing records, complying with government regulations, and storing a copy of a written contract. Their crowdsale consists of selling Factoids (the Factom currency), which will be converted into ‘entry credits’ that allow users to use their service.

There also have been other similar Bitcoin 2.0 projects, which all aim to build a new service on top of the bitcoin blockchain. Other examples include storj.io, which aims to provide a decentralized cloud storage, and Ethereum, a service that aims to allow smart contracts, which can be used to build currencies, financial derivatives, voting systems, decentralized organizations, data feeds, title registries and thousands of other applications.

Both of these examples started by launching a CrowdSale, however, Ethereum’s CrowdSale came under heavy criticism, because at first, it had only planned to sell a maximum of 5000 BTC that they raised. However, they sold approximately 30,000 of its BTC, which caused a fierce debate, discussing if future crowdsales from Bitcoin 2.0 companies should be trusted. Months later after Ethereum, Factom seems to be doing the same thing.

So by investing in these Bitcoin 2.0 ideas, we are whale dumping the price of bitcoin down!

That kind of sucks! Would it not be in their interest to have a higher bitcoin price and better network strength, or do they not care now that they have their money?!
They are doing nothing good to bitcoin, just try to take advantage of existing bitcoin technology, collect as much bitcion as possioble, and dump them all to collect fiat money.
1523  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How ow to identify a potential bad buyer on: April 16, 2015, 03:23:44 PM
How can one screen the buyers? By checking their earlier trade reputation or by verifying their identity (ID proof etc.)? The most reliable method to sell bitcoins is IN PERSON transaction.
In different place we apply different criteria to screen the buyers. If you are doing business at bitcointalk.org, we normally check their posting history and trust record to estimate their reputation! If not good, we use escrow to do business with them!
Most transaction is done remotely! So in person transaction is not realistic in most of the cases!
1524  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Pilot killed and three passengers injured as plane crashes on German motorway. on: April 16, 2015, 06:31:03 AM
I'm not a big fan in flying in small sized aircraft since it seems that historically, many more accidents occur. Likely, because these pilots have a lot less experience than the normal pilots we tend to think of.
It is not always about the unexperienced pilots. There are always some kind of unexpected accidents arising, such as the whether, mechanical issues, or others etc. But the airplane is still our main way for travelling.
1525  Other / Politics & Society / Re: So this is what Society has become.. on: April 16, 2015, 05:54:09 AM
Every society has its own widely accepted morality and principle. The teachers and elder members of family will always teach the young generation how to behave and speak. The dance school blatantly violated the princples and no one would accept their behavior in the society. The school's reputation will be ruined.

Kids in our days.....

They hack the police department, steal all their files, and only ask $300 as ransom to give it back......

Plain stupid and a waste of talent.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

This sort of malware typically scans computers and networks for documents, generates a random encryption key per file, uses those to encrypt the data, and then encrypts the keys using a public-private key pair. "No personal data was mined - it looks like they didn't take any information," Brackett said.
They didn't steal any files and only encrypt all the file on the original servers using random generated key.

Why do you call it fiat crisis? It makes me think your website is totally against fiat money. I think some neutral name should be chose to attract bilateral opinion openly. Besides that, you website is not complete yet, some of functions are still under building.
1529  Economy / Economics / Re: How to save money. on: April 14, 2015, 08:28:15 AM
Every one should learn to save partial income for the future. But it doesn't means we are against spending. I support to buy the requisite not the luxurious things. I will give an example to elaborate my idea. If I need a car for the transportation, but my pocket only has $20k available for the purchase. A Volkswagen car costing $10k is suitable for all my requirement. But I like the Porsche costing me $30k, which means I have to borrow $10k. So do you see my points now?
1530  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is not a bubble on: April 14, 2015, 07:57:41 AM
For me, the biggest incentive is understanding that governments around the world are getting financed at negative rates, still have deficits and big debts. Add on top of that, their compromise with future pensions that are not included in debt calculations.

Central banks have the biggest balance sheets ever, which it means that in order to increase interest rates they will have to sell more bonds than ever, putting additional pressure on the stability of public finance.

If you can grasp all that, Bitcoin comes as the natural solution.
When economy and society stabilize, business activities and industrial production is increasing, the masses will ignore the underlying problem created by the centralized govs. Do you still remember the economic turmoil in 2013, and the performance of bitcoin?  But I think when the next economic crisis is approaching, ppl will realize the importance of the bitcoin. The adoption rate will be accelerated a lot.
1531  Economy / Economics / Re: Can a coin that is primarily a store-of-value succeed? on: April 14, 2015, 07:32:03 AM
I think we will see something before/after the next halving (25 --> 12.5 bitcoin). Maybe from 200 dollars the price will jump to 300 bucks, but as you said the real interesting thing may happen after ~2032 (when the block reward will be less than 1 bitcoin).
The things we should keep in mind that when time goes by, the adoption rate of bitcoin will increase, and the number of transaction per day will increase as well. So does the transaction fees.  If the number of transaction can reach to the theoretical maximum of 10tx/s, then every block can collect 9 BTC (we assume every transaction includes the minimum fee 0.0001 BTC) to reward the miners. And the supply of it is diminishing, more merchants and individual are requiring it and the price will definitely shoot up.  Until the bitcoin ecosystem reaches to the balance.
1532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: State of Bitcoin Q1 2015 (by CoinDesk) on: April 13, 2015, 02:56:47 PM
bitcoin was meant to be an alternative to the greedy bankers fiat, now just becoming a new breed of greedy banker bitcoin  Angry
I don't think greedy bankers are interested at bitcoin! But big whales are still piling up their holding. Some small investors or miners are probably dumping it recklessly.
1533  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NxT to fall down to $5 million soon? on: April 11, 2015, 12:53:22 AM
OP, why do you have problem with NXT? Are you losing from the investment? Most of ppl know their team is active, dedicated, ambitious. They have specific roadmap, of which some have implemented, such as freemarket, multigateway and money system etc. some of them are still in the developed process, not as op stated, is abandoned.
1534  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Best Cryptocurrency? on: April 11, 2015, 12:36:21 AM
What is currently, the best cryptocurrency around?
I mean from a technological point of view.
No such best cryptocurrency is existing. There are many better, feather rich coins coming out! But they are just specially improving some features for some purpose, like Darkcoin, Monero, NEM, MAIDSAFE etc, comparing with bitcoin! They can't be perfect for including all of the features technically! Guys, just be realistic and choose the useful one.

1537  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's Be Honest. We Are Waiting for $100/BTC to buy on: March 25, 2015, 04:02:10 AM
If everyone is waiting for $100/BTC to buy, some of us will front-run the crash and hence BTC will only touch $125 at best.

On the other hand, I'd be more than happy to be wrong about this, because I'm waiting for $100/BTC too  Grin
When the price comes to $100/BTC, I think some ppl are panic and will be afraid the price will go down further. They will say they are waiting for $50/BTC.
It seems there are already some ppl who are waiting for the price.
