1281  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the amount that every Bitcoiner should own ? on: September 21, 2015, 12:27:36 AM

I disagree. 0.1m USD can give you a decent lifestyle in a first worldish country.

Most certainly. For a year or three. Then what?

It's a nice deposit on a mortgage or some epic travel. It's not setting you up for life but makes things a bit more comfortable.

Well if it comes to 100K USD I think you are right that it could be used for something temporarily used, and not mean much... unless you cash out and invest into another business idea or endeavor...

But this dream about it becoming 100K sounds really ridiculous to me and honestly if that were to happen in the future, it's going to happen not in some sort of spurt but in a long dragged out process.

This is because people who invested into btc when it hit the 700-900 are pretty pissy right now because they're investment flunked hard.  Some of them cashed out when it started to tank, but then some of those investors held on, hoping that it was a temporary decrease.  So if btc hit a hard increase in price at any point in the near future, people will wait till btc hits the price point of breaking even for them and then cash out (probable scenario I think.)

But, as we all know, that's how any market works when btc is treated as a commodity rather than a currency.
1282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks' own Blockchain? on: September 20, 2015, 11:33:07 PM
They want to use the blockchain so they seem "innovative" to the young folks, but in reality they don't care about bitcoin, ethereum, blockchain etc.

Idk, maybe they would like to use the blockchain to ease transactions to other countries without it costing so much? Or let the customers have the ability to wire money to whoever anywhere at any time?

I know it's a pain in the ass for me when I can't move my money around on the weekends.
1283  Economy / Economics / Re: Banks Suck on: September 20, 2015, 11:30:01 PM
I have a feeling that the first few companies who accept bills to be paid (i.e. electric, water, rent, etc) in btc, they will have a huge flock of btc users (which are a pretty good amount of people) to flock to them.  It's not like those companies can't continue to accept fiat, so why not? This will be incredible, because people then can finally be removed from the fiat system forever and never have to worry about dealing with banks again... hmmm... Smiley
1284  Economy / Economics / Re: Do You Think Bitcoin Will Replace Dollar Soon? on: September 20, 2015, 10:44:21 PM
I still believe Bitcoin can replace it like some science fiction series and movies but those seems to be 100 years or more later. For near future (5 - 10 years) it will stay just as it is right now.

Indeed I think unfortunately the fiat scam is so well designed that it can last for a century and we'll be dead before we see the dollar empire fall. Not sure about Euro tho, we'll see.
In the meantime anyway, all those so called gurus like sephan molyneux let alone alex jones will keep making money off people expecting an incoming economic doom. We'll see Bitcoin going to 1 million a coin before we see the dollar fall.

I agree, do you really think the people who are in charge of the fed will go down easily without a fight?  The people who pretty much control government(s), media cooperations, and the like? No, we won't see this happen any time soon.  There has been decades upon decades of the use of this currency and it won't be going anywhere since the fed pretty much controls everything.  Even though the private banks are made up of a small finite set of people... they are a very powerful small finite set of people... people that are indirectly in control of armies.
1285  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many friends did you recommend bitcoin to? Did they accept it? on: September 20, 2015, 10:33:58 PM
I remember back about a year ago, I tried to convince my family and friends that this was the way to go... provided them details about why, theoretically, this would be a good investment.  Needless to say, they all scoffed and laughed at me endlessly and said I'm pretty much given into a "hype" and this would never become anything more than a fad...

With my family though, like my mom, dad, uncle (broker for JP Morgan), brother, etc. they all bashed me and said that I'm given into a "devilish" idea. They are very christian and think that if I were to invest here and bitcoin actually became a global currency everyone would accept, that I would be giving into the "devil" of some sort... because of the whole rapture scripture in the bible.

So in short, no... my friends and family did not accept my proposal into bitcoin Sad
1286  Economy / Auctions / Re: [Auction] Silver Wallet - You pick! #5 on: September 20, 2015, 10:13:13 PM
Looks good!  Grin

I'll start it out at .15 BTC
1287  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the amount that every Bitcoiner should own ? on: September 20, 2015, 10:06:05 PM
It's really hard to say how much someone should own, because the possibilities are endless for bitcoin (whether good or bad). I say just invest little by little over a period of time and in no time you should have atleast .5BTC or 1BTC. As of right now, BTC is hovering over that $230 mark, which makes it a good time to invest... but at the same time, if you can just keep buying little by little with a small amount of money you can comfortably fork over, then I say you are good.
1288  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hey all on: September 20, 2015, 09:15:13 PM
Thanks for the wiki link.
So below my first post is a banner for "magical dice".
Looks to be a gambling game where I can earn more bitcoin. Is this legal? Also can I trust this site since it's on bitcointalk?

Yes, it's legal in some sense... but I wouldn't invest your first bitcoins for gambling.  Hold on to them for now and keep steadily buying more bitcoin when you can afford them.  The price for bitcoin right now is very low and is a good time to invest, in my opinion... A lot of controversy is hanging over bitcoin with block sizes and the like, but a lot of good in the block chain market is happening right now like the interest banks are starting to have with it's uses/functionality.

The advertisements bitcoin put out are of sites that won't scam your coins, but probably not be a good investment route.  Gambling always comes with a very high risk.
1289  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Realistically does bitcoin have any competition ? on: September 20, 2015, 08:16:24 PM
Monero should rise in time to become the yang to Bitcoin's yin.

Monero. It's had its day. Daily volume $10,878.

Monero lacks marketing, almost none knows what monero even is. Most alt coins just need a huge marketing budget in order to compete with bitcoin.

Monero is only a little over a year old... people were essentially saying this about bitcoin back in the day, so to say that monero is not going to become very popular in the future due to the newer features that it presents doesn't bring up a very valid point imo.
1290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Realistically does bitcoin have any competition ? on: September 20, 2015, 06:49:44 PM
I understand there are 600 other coins and that banks might be involved in trying to put in place there own mechanisms based on the blockchain but now that bitcoin has become as big as it has is there even a 10% chance that anything could replace bitcoin in the next few years.

not really. the second biggest crypto is Litecoin. you can see it as a backup for bitcoin. (blocksize...?)

people say that Bitcoin is like Gold and Litecoin is like Silver.

But since Litecoin is pretty much like a replica of bitcoin and doesn't have any features that really make it stand out from bitcoin in general... doesn't that make it have the same potential flaws of block size when it gets higher and higher in price and when more people start to use it?

I've been really looking into merging my bitcoins with another coin that I like that has the best chances of success due to offering something a lot different from btc; and as of right now, I just really like monero... but idk, people can speculate all they want about which coin is going to "make it", but in reality btc can fall in an instant tomorrow and then everyone will lose.

Investing a lot of money in cryptos have always been sort of a gamble, but I like gambling.. so it fits right up my ally Smiley
1291  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: HonestDoubler.com - 100% IN 100 HOURS - 15% REF, MANY LEGIT PAYOUTS!! on: September 20, 2015, 06:38:19 PM
I will take my 4% send it to    1HGiG52a4p9C5F3TSm6SCEMnAPBomhG494  !thank you for being honest!! Cool

Hahaha... he isn't going to be honest any more, this is when the real side of HD comes out.  He probably won't pay out at all, there still hasn't been any claim yet that he's actually decided to go through with this.
1292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I've been scammed 5.5BTC. What will you do when your Bitcoin get scammed? on: September 20, 2015, 05:40:39 PM
if i get scammed again ill just reflect on what just happen and
be more careful next time also earn my way up there again

Yeah, Prevention is better than Cure.. No doubt it is too embarrassing and disappointing when we get scammed by someone and loose all our hard earn coins, but we need to be careful in the future that this mistake is not repeated and keep our bitcoins safe in cold storage and hold it for future rather than investing in any ponzi scheme, as we know that scammers are more intelligent than normal individuals.

Haha, yeah I should've known a lot better... but that "honestdoubler" site was paying out and lasted for 28 days before it just crashed... of course I invested .3 btc on day 25 :/ ... ah oh well, not too much of heart break for me such as the 5.5 btc OP lost, and there are some people on that honestdoubler site that actually put 5 btc on there... Now I pitty that fool...

Good thing I have a lot more btc and doesn't really hurt me that much though Smiley

We decided to halt all payouts, until the issue is resolved.

Please stay patient.

That's really bad news. I hope that's true and you don't plan to run away with the Bitcoins of people.
If there is a bug it should be fixed soon your reputation is already not as well as before

I think that the fact that he is continually updating us with what is going on makes his reputation that much better... He is HONEST. Sure the system was shown to have flaws, but they will work on it and hopefully it will be resolved by the next 5 hours or so..
1295  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: HonestDoubler.com - 100% IN 100 HOURS - 15% REF, MANY LEGIT PAYOUTS!! on: September 20, 2015, 01:57:57 AM
We all know whats coming up next  Grin

HD isn't going anywhere with the coins... I have full faith that everything will work itself out.  The main issue here is that the more time this issue hasn't resolved itself it will continue to deter the majority of the investors in the site.  Hopefully by tonight/tomorrow morning the issue will be resolved and everything will continue on as normal.
1296  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin dead? on: September 20, 2015, 01:39:00 AM
Bitcoin will never die. I believe in the future bitcoin and cryptocurrencies will still have a great prominence into the economy.

It may not die but also will not grow in very big range also. It will be mostly used as a alternative currency to buy online items always.

I don't know... fiat can't last forever because of the fact that printing money out of thin air isn't feasible.  I know we've been doing this for years in every country, but more and more people are waking up to this grim fact.  Bitcoin more than likely will have a head to head match with gold when people will realize we need to get back onto the gold standard... this realization might not be adopted by the masses for years and years, but it will certainly happen within 20 years or so.

It's going to be between physical minerals and crypto "minerals" in the long run I beleive...
1297  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks' own Blockchain? on: September 20, 2015, 01:34:35 AM
Its absolutely certain that banks will create their own coins and their own blockchains. people will force them to do it.

All these 'blockchain' projects exist to make the transfer and use of fiat faster and slicker. That's it.

When has a bank in modern history ever created its own currency? Never. That's the job of central banks and governments. If there is to be a coin of sorts it'll be a token representing fiat value.

These blockchains are likely to be like an intranet. They'll be a closed system with no relation to anything available to the public.

Ahh, very good point... but at the same time the banks run into the flaw of "convenient" on hand currency transactions.  They still need to request money from the fed from time to time to get physical money to distribute out to the people... all this is, is a more reliable and secure form of wiring money from bank to bank...
1298  Economy / Economics / Re: Is bitcoin dead? on: September 20, 2015, 12:54:02 AM
there is an awful lot of FUD out there. Bitcoin will not go to die until a better technology comes out or a fatal vulnerability is discovered.

There is already a better technology out, yet it still hasnt died. It has a charm by being the first crypto. People wont abandon it so easily, it's like your firstborn child. Would you abandon it for another child?

what is this better technology? don't tell me ethereum or maidsafe, they are akin to a rehash of an old attempt to a decentralized internet, called freenet

I dont think those coins are really promising.

Monero has a great innovation in terms of anonymity.

Bytecoin has better security and faster and more efficient network than bitcoin in all terms.

NXT, BURST, NEM, HZ, COUNTERPARTY has a whole economy, stock market, marketplace & more integrated in a decentralized fashion.

all altcoin, monero also, only include a small feature that differentiate them from bitcoin, they are still clone and nothing more

every features they have can be integrated easily in bitcoin, i don't see innovation as it was with bitcoin

LOL wow really?

You do realize that the Monero code base is completely different than that of Bitcoin? Using ring signatures, stealth addresses producing untraceability and unlinkability.

Can't do that with Bitcoin as far as I am aware. Bitcoin has a public blockchain as well that you can trace.

And NO...those features can't be integrated EASILY into bitcoin.

The Bitcoin core developers can't even agree on a SINGLE line of code to change (i.e. the block size) and you think they can add cryptonote into the bitcoin source that would allow it to operate like Monero?

Wow seriously appears you a delusional. No offense.

Absolutely, while I love bitcoin, there is something that monero provides that bitcoin can't... and that is the view key and private key features.  This is going to be more appreciated as time goes on, but as for now people who are heavily into bitcoin are going to be very stubborn about another coin offering a new and better technology.  That isn't to say that both of those coins can't co-exist.  I believe that WAY down the road bitcoin will become like another fiat in a sense because of the centralization of it and the possibility for block size changes and inflation of bitcoins by allowing more out in circulation... Monero solves all the problems (I believe) that bitcoin has right now, and I believe another coin down the road will solve the potential problems that monero will have...

But only time will tell, it will be interesting to see how all of this plays out.

1300  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Are there any US exchanges that sell Bitcoin to FinCEN registered users? on: September 19, 2015, 10:56:15 PM
Ask Bitpay if they have any coins to sell? Most of their coins are sold to pre arranged buyers anyway and there must be a pretty reliable supply at competitive prices. If they won't sell coins to a business then there's something a bit weird going on.

Or you could just send them an email with a link to steal the CEO email account and steal 3000 BTC from them... Wink

Last month, Coinbase decided to close my trading activity with them after being with them from the beginning.  This was due to me labeling some of my transfers as going to a bitcoin wallet that holds my Skyhook vending machine funds.  I'm pretty sure there's some fine print somewhere and I take responsibility for missing it, but as far as I can tell, there is no exchange in the US that is allowing MSBs to use their service.

Any ideas?  I limit transaction amounts so as not to deal with too much paperwork, but do monitor the machine.

Maybe try localbitcoins.com if you are in a big city? Other than that I'm not quite sure... Xapo could be an option, but they charge a pretty high transaction fee if I'm not mistaken..
