1201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is the btc transaction time? on: September 27, 2015, 10:41:03 PM
has anyone ever even sent a tx with a 1btc fee?  Shocked Shocked thats hard to imagine
People have sent transactions with much larger fees than that. I'm sure there's a way to find them, just google it.

So what's the general consensus of what should be the average miners fee?  Usually I set mine at around $.01-$.10 worth, just depends on the amount of bitcoins I'm sending and really would like it to confirm fast.  So what amount does everyone else here use? I'm just curious.

1204  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Free apps.. on: September 26, 2015, 10:40:33 AM
I do not have a company or business, I'm just a student, and I want to earn some cash quickly..

that's the problem, people are still looking at bitcoin as a quick rich scheme, it isn't this anymore, it's a mean of payment

but if you want to earn directly in bitcoin, there is only signature campaign that may help

I don't know, prices for bitcoin are steadily staying around that $230-$225 mark, but prices are regardless still volatile... and not a very stable form of payment just yet with the block halving issue around the corner.  Once the drama is removed and the price of bitcoin hits a very stable price, then I would have to agree with you 100%
1205  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Free apps.. on: September 26, 2015, 10:38:29 AM
What are the best free applications for earning bitcoins easily and safely ?

There is a cool app called Spark Profit that allows you to trade BTC and other currencies, commodities, stock indexes, etc. for weekly cash/bitcoin prizes.  It is free to play on browser or phone.  It's not a lot of profit but it is decent.  It's not that time consuming if you just put in a good trade and let it sit.

The best part about this app is that once you sign up, they give you 70,000 points to start with and allow you to post whether a commodity, price index, etc. will go up or down.... Once the week starts you can place a bet wherever and say if you choose that it will drastically go up, you can set it and literally never check it again until friday or whenever the market closes.  It's an easy way to make some bitcoin if you have a knack of knowing what's going to happen in the markets.
1206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin does not work. on: September 26, 2015, 10:30:50 AM
Bitcoin does not work because people do not trust to buy things with bitcoin. I have a site running now for 5 months selling precious metals, made plenty of sales with credit card, bank transfer, no problems but not a single bitcoin purchase!

What is the point in bitcoin again?

No point. It's just an intellectual exercise and an initial experiment of what's coming in a decade or two.  If you don't get it, feel free to leave.  Bye.

That's not a very good way to promote bitcoin in general and help get mass adoption going.  If businesses are taking the full leap into bitcoin to start trying to implement them in sales and potentially pay employees in bitcoin, there are going to be tons of questions like this one by businesses.  Just to say, "This is what it is, if you don't like it, bye felicia" isn't going to work... we will need to calmly explain everything.

Now going back to OP's concerns, did you feel like you advertise it as much as you needed to on this forum?  Advertising is key, especially on here... there are multiple ways to do this, but I would suggest getting creative.  Think of a way to promote your business to bitcoiners in a very "outside of the box" type of mind set... people on here tend to love that kind of thinking.
1207  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest hope regarding Bitcoin? on: September 26, 2015, 10:25:33 AM
It's basically all about going mainstream , I don't think price is going anywhere if we don't go mainstream . Halving block reward won't do anything alone if there is no demand on the supply .
Hopefully we will get a stable price (or at least a price changes that poor people could manage and afford)

We can't go mainstream as long as we don't get rid of drama. Every few weeks we have some other hack, scam, or something third. In the last few months we had a block size increase discussion, and the discussion is not a problem by itself, but the way the discussion took presented that there is a lot of dirty laundry hidden in the Bitcoin community.

I wish that Bitcoin gets rid of drama. I am sure we will be much better off by just doing this.

That's a very good point, businesses wouldn't want to transact in a currency that has economical distress concerns and political issues... Example A: Greece.

Once everyone in the core community knows what the hell is going on in terms of block size and other issues, we can all just move forward and progress as a community.

1208  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Eventually the FUNGIBILITY issue of bitcoin will make headlines ... on: September 26, 2015, 10:21:56 AM
Now that is something new that I haven't thought of. Unless you are in the business of sabotaging bitcoin's reputation that could be seen as potential new area to focus on, in order to erode people's trust that they have on bitcoin.

Now let's review back on the potential loophole. Fungibilty... If you consider the issue on tainted coins you received without yourself knowing the history behind it, 'Yes' there's no denial that will be a problem. But however, on the flipside, it will not become an issue as long as coins get properly mixed and you are dealing only with reputable person. But chances it can still happen to you being victimized is still there.

Bitcoin can never be a perfect system, fiat neither but hey, those who are into the exploits business will use that to their full advantage.

I still don't see the argument being a valid one, when one says, "hey if my coins won't be accepted any where, let's just mix them with a bunch of other coins so they won't be SO bad."  It's like putting gold into a cement mixer, where shit is dumped on top... over the course of time what's going to come out is shit covered gold, which no one will want to accept before you wash it off.

It would help if you were a big time miner and minted your own fresh coins, where you develop some kind of way to mix your own coins with your brand new ones... other than that particular instance, I don't see mixers or stuff of the like being very helpful.
1209  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is your biggest hope regarding Bitcoin? on: September 26, 2015, 10:10:14 AM
Well I hope it will be at the same level on par with fiat. Officially recognized and accepted everywhere without that kind of prejudice and negative perception on the coins. Looking forward to have it widely adopted and somehow has become mainstream. Perhaps the biggest challenge is seeing bitcoin being used for retail over-the-counter spending.

I honestly think though for this to happen and before people will want to spend bitcoins over the counter for goods and services, people will need to be paid in bitcoins at their everyday job (and not just over exchange sites and forums like here for instance).  It'll be a serious case of "what's first: the chicken or the egg" type of scenario, but it'll be cool if all that were to happen. I think it will seriously help businesses in the long run track all the spending and resources they use, not to mention how much it will help government keep track of taxing.  Though, the big question remains if government will allow fiat to flop.
1210  Economy / Economics / Re: How too get rich on: September 26, 2015, 04:14:19 AM
I can agree with this Lol there are so many rich people of just simple luck damn

People are not becoming rich just by luck but at the same time one has to put in hard work then only they can become successful.

Agreed, it is not all about luck.. regardless you do need some in order to be presented with an awesome opportunity, or be lucky when proposing an idea to investors that they will see the opportunity and help you create your idea.

It is one thing to be lucky, but it is another to actually take action on the luck that has presented it's self.  Hard work pays dividends too, but it's a combination of all those factors that makes any successful businessman successful in the first place.  Look at Trump for instance (OHHHH GOD, here we go)... he wasn't born into wealth, but he was definitely a hard worker who ran into some luck with investing and building his franchise.  Now you can't go a day without someone saying something about him; about whatever thing he said to offend women/immigrants/etc.
1211  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin price will be deflated!!! by block halving!!!!! on: September 26, 2015, 04:02:26 AM
I don't think he was trying to say that it is inevitable for bitcoin's price to be deflated because of the halving... He's just saying that bitcoins price won't necessarily sky rocket like some people think that it will due to a shortage of supply... all in all though that was a pretty good article, thanks for sharing.
Yes supply will never be short as bitcoins will always be mined and the bitcoins will always increase in number.
To increase their prices we should use them in our daily lives and not just hodl them, by hodling bitcoins we will never se their prices sky rocketed.

I see your point, but there are actually other sides of the argument that makes sense too.  Take for example, if some wealthy person took all the money out from their banks (lets say 1 million $) and stored it into a safe for safe keeping, this wouldn't necessarily mean that the dollar would lose it's value because someone with a lot of money hoarded away their money.

It's a very complicated issue, with multiple theories of what could or couldn't be right; but in actuality there is no set scheme in economics that if "A" happens, this is going to cause "B" to happen... this regards to bitcoin and bitcoin prices as well... It will definitely be interesting though to see how this all plays out in the long run though.
1212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you like best about bitcoin? on: September 26, 2015, 03:58:06 AM
For me, it is about Decentralization, nobody can control BTC. and we can make transactions worldwide almost instantly

That's what some of the arguments are about right now on the forum though, is that some businesses have the potential to control the prices of bitcoin, due to the fact that most of the mining and minting of new fresh bitcoins are done by mining corporations that are specifically there for the reason to mine bitcoins and bitcoins alone.

Now to say that this won't make people necessarily "want" to buy bitcoins or create any type of higher demand for it, but for mining businesses to take up that much hashing power and to essentially take out the "small" miner out of the equation, there poses the question if bitcoin is actually decentralized now and days.
1213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Built-in bitcoin ticker (sort of) in OSX 10.10 Yosemite on: September 26, 2015, 03:54:02 AM
Honestly, there is an easier way to keep track of btc prices rather than doing this (also a potential way of making some btc in the process as well).  I'm not sure if it's well known on this forum or not, but the app "spark profit" allows you to keep track of a handful of currencies, currency exchange rates, and commodities (including bitcoin).  How it works is a handful of big time investors put in money for a weekly pot (right now around $3,200) and people earn and invest "points" to gain more points, which will then enable them to potentially win for that week.  You can "cash out" once you hit $30.00 worth winnings, and you can choose the ability to get paid in bitcoin.

To get back to the bitcoin ticker thing, they have a live ticker on there that keeps track of the current btcusd rates, as well as all the other commodities/currencies they offer.

1216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In your own words: What is the purpose of Bitcoin? on: September 26, 2015, 03:04:36 AM
This currency will change the transaction trend on the future. With bitcoin, all transaction will more faster and efficient rather than using other currency. We can carry money without carrying physical money just like credit card but ofcourse bitcoin is better because it has lowest fee

But if the banks start using blockchain technology and start implementing it to be able to easily transfer fiat money on a global scale with low fees just like how bitcoin is doing right now... wouldn't bitcoin just die in your own opinion?  To me this is the biggest potential killer for bitcoin right now, because fiat has obviously been here a lot longer than bitcoin has, and if it just takes the technology that makes bitcoin so popular for payment systems... then fiat will forever remain the dominant force for payment.
1217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Eventually the FUNGIBILITY issue of bitcoin will make headlines ... on: September 26, 2015, 02:58:58 AM
All US money is numbered, so unless you have a large block of $100 sequential bills it is hard to trace. Fiat is traceable to a point, so is Bitcoin. I really have no idea why fungibility is so concerning. Bitcoin has mixers, convenience stores, grocery stores are fiat mixers, along with that nice restaurant you enjoy.

I don see this being an issue, but maybe my tinfoil hat isn't on tight enough?

Ufo

So if I stole bitcoin and sent it to a mixer and someone else got the coin and tried to spend it and let's say that merchant flagged that address because it was linked to a hack/scam/theft...how did mixing the coins fix anything other than allowing the thief to get away with the crime?

You're right, this flagging addresses and blacklisting transactions from addresses won't help, it will ultimately start getting abused, think about it. You sell coins to someone, a cash trade so no identities were involved and after that you go to a forum and start yelling my coins were hacked/stolen and ask Miners and others to flag that address. Now the person who bought those coins is fu**ed, he paid for them and didn't do anything wrong and he's the one who is now called a thief and can't spend his coins? I really hope no more sites start doing this and even bitpay should stop doing this, if they're really doing this i.e.

Yep, it's really going to hurt the currency in general if bitpay is still around for much longer, and/or other companies will start doing this too.  This will eventually lead to everyone currently trading/selling/loaning/mixing bitcoins to be stuck with some fraction of a tainted coin where everyone can't be able to do business at all, unless you are a big time miner who mints fresh coins himself and keeps them to himself.
1218  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Litecoin v. Bitcoin on: September 26, 2015, 02:53:54 AM
Litecoin is too risky. Bitcoin is the gold and if bitcoin fail, the silver litecoin will fail after bitcoin. If you have litecoin get some bitcoin too. Or get some bitcoin and no litecoin. Get it?

both of them are very risky investments, because bitcoin has swings in price too and is not yet stable. but i agree that if bitcoin were to fail for any reason then all other altcoins would fail miserably too. because nobody is going to look for a substitute for a failed technology. but this failing is not possible at least for the near future.

I don't necessarily agree with you prediction that if bitcoin fails (which I highly doubt will happen any time soon), that other altcoins won't be able to make it because every coin "copies" bitcoin infrastructure.  There are a probably 3 or so good candidates that show a good new infrastructure that doesn't just copy bitcoins exact technology.  And personally, I believe that these coins (or coins that will be developed in the near future) can/will hold around the same purchasing power as bitcoin... they will just offer different people different capabilities in how they want their cryptos to function.
1219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: do you play loteries ,did you won something on: September 26, 2015, 02:33:25 AM
I used to gambling at loteries i may say i didnt risked a lot money usually i spended 2 euros up to 5 euros weekly, meaning 20 euros montly, but well i had won some prizes but in the end i may say for personal i lost much more money then earned at this.Soo why people keep buying?Word is facing financial problems but people keep buying these.. did you figured that already? There is some lotery of bitcoin online, where we can buy a ticket and be able to get the prizes ,i mean one trusted not a scam.

since i have never been lucky in my life so far, i don't like playing anything that has a very rare chance of winning like lotteries.
i have tried them though, not with bitcoin but with fiat, and i have never had any luck in any of those.

You need good balance to buy most of the tickets to have a great winning chance but if you are just depends on pure luck I dont think everyone here will make it anyway. The more balance you have the higher winning chance that you will get

Mostly people waste his/her money on lotteries becase they are aware that they are going to lose.
I'm wonder if I can win lottery just once, it will change my life forever  Cheesy

But it's always interesting to see the people who DO actually end up winning the big jackpot on a scratch off or powerball type of lottery ticket.  Where I live it's always funny to see the new person who won, which would either be some hillbilly redneck, a homeless man, or some kid who just turned 18 and decided "what the hell, I'll try it out"...

If you guys have a website that lists the winners of lottery ticket in your area, I would highly recommend checking it out for just a second.  To me it's hilarious, and at the same time, it always seems to go to the best person with the most dire situation of why they need the money.  Funny how random things work out for some people.
1220  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Dice game strategy? on: September 26, 2015, 02:29:40 AM
The only winning strategy is to be the bank and invest in a dice site, although that still runs the risk of the site getting 'hacked' and stealing all your bitcoins.

The only strategy decision you make with dice sites is how quickly you lose all your bitcoins.  Burn through your stash fast or bleed it slow.  Your choice.

Owning a gambling site must be very profitable indeed, nice thought.  Grin

Probably the best strategy anyone's mentioned yet! Owning one is the winner!

If I remember correctly, wasn't there a site that has just been recently released that allows the gambler to be the "house" and the house be the "gambler"?  Or did I just dream that? If not I would think that this would be a very interesting dice game site idea for the next dev to create.
