741  Economy / Gambling / Re: Any advice to start gambling? on: November 27, 2015, 08:03:01 PM
Gambling and investing don't go together. Gambling should be strictly entertainment.

If you have extra coins and don't care if you lose them then poker or sports bets are a good choice in my opinion.

Depends what you know how to play though. If you suck at poker other players will take all your money eventually.

You also have to take into consideration that Poker and Sports games, to me, are the most entertaining forms of bitcoin gambling and is why I tend to stick with them the most.  But before you bet on a poker game, please make sure you have that much free time to begin with, because some games can go on forever before there is ever a direct winner... not so much with sports gambling

Value bet for today:
Cleveland @ Charlotte
Over 204.5pts @ 1.80

Honeslty, I don't think Charlotte stands any chance against King James.. even though Charlotte is my team, I know when there is no chance and to stay away from a sure loss.
743  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin without Altcoin ? on: November 27, 2015, 07:51:23 PM
Altcoins may help in promoting for cryptocurrencies
But I think these altcoins did not affect the price of bitcoin as their price depends on bitcoin price and when some one release a new altcoin all people ask him for an exchange site in which they can exchange tha altcoin with bitcoin

Exactly, if someone feels the need to purchase another altcoin, then they are in a way forced to buy bitcoin because it's hard to trade fiat for other altcoins... all of the business is done in bitcoins.

Plus there are still ways in which one or two altcoins are beneficial to the bitcoin world.  Coins that are using ring signatures such as monero makes it easy to mix your coins yourself and to get back bitcoins just like you would using a 3rd party mixer.
744  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Eliminate the need to hold dollars, legalize the use of BTC to pay taxes!!! on: November 27, 2015, 07:44:52 PM
If bitcoin can be used to pay taxes, its value will soar dramatically. This will help the usage and adoption of bitcoin.

Yeah this would never happen to a point where the price of bitcoin will "soar"... The government would have no need to hold bitcoin, because they can't pay other contractors to build roads, schools, and that sort of thing.  So they would need to sell them to get fiat, thus increasing the amount of bitcoins that are sold and therefore decreasing the value drastically.

Until there will be a time where bitcoin where to be accepted at every business, then we should worry about paying the government with taxes via bitcoin; because they could actually use it, and not just a way for them to automatically "cash out".

746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency - 0.8.8.6 on: November 17, 2015, 04:29:31 AM

The new binaries will really help with adoption. Some merchants would prefer not to use releases still in beta testing.

I haven't really heard any more news about the release of the new binaries coming out... Mind you, I haven't had time to frequent this board very much due to work getting insanely rediculous.  It's still projected to be Summer 2016 correct?

No, I expect well before that. There are already some beta binaries and there are tests going on this week to try to finalize a release candidate.

Wow, that's extremely exciting! So, one could say that the release may end up hitting the shelves possibly by the end of 2015 in that case?
747  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 17, 2015, 04:25:43 AM
It is a major release because it includes the completed development goals, including databases and 32bit / ARM support. It also includes the blocktime fork from 1 min to 2 min and the tail emission at 0.3 XMR (1 min blocks) 0.6 XMR (two min blocks). It will also be the first official release in over 11 months.

This is a question more for Smooth, but are there any specific new developments tested by the development of Aeon that are going into the 0.9 release coming up soon?

I think there is an issue with the built in windows unzipper utility for files over 4 GB or so. I had an issue with downloading/unzipping a bootstrap for huntercoin, and it was due to trying to use windows unzipper. If the file is bigger than 4 GB, try using 7zip or something else to extract.
Are you using 0.9 beta build? There is no blockchain for it to download. You should sync from scratch (~3.5 hours for me).

Hmm...
I think its in RAM the problem. Its on 100% of usage when wants to read/loading blockchain(reaching in some time) and then when starts to update I get that error for "height", file is 4.2GB.
My RAM size is 3x2GB.
No, I've 886.

Thanks!

If you are on 0.8.8.6 you probably have insufficient RAM, the current binaries are quite old and slow. Basically everyone is waiting for the new binaries, which only use around 100 MB of RAM after syncing. Which OS are you on? And are you able to compile yourself?

749  Economy / Services / Re: [BIT-X.com] Earn Bitcoins by Posting | Signature Campaign on: November 12, 2015, 10:01:08 PM
Hey I'm confused, is there still spots available for the campaign?  I tried to enter my UID at http://bitsig.website/beta/ and it says there are no slots available as of right now.  Also, I have put my user ID on bit-x on my "other contact" info, but not sure if I did it correctly with how the "3" is on there.

Please let me know if there are any other spots left, as I would like to join.
Thanks.

Hey Marco, checking in again to see if there will be any openings for hero members like me anytime soon you think? I sent you a PM and never got a reply back. I know you must be pretty busy, just checking in to see what it's looking like as of right now.

754  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 03, 2015, 07:53:06 PM
LMFAO Right back over $400.

This is wack as hell.

Perhaps good to sell now above 400?

Haha, I literally lol'd a bit when reading that... that has got to be the steepest free fall I've seen during the rise, and just like that *POOF* back up to $400... I mean really, WTF is going on?
755  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 03, 2015, 07:41:40 PM
The bears are coming out to play now! I think it will probably hit $380 and then continue on it's way to $450 by the end of the night probably.
756  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC reach $500 during november? on: November 03, 2015, 06:05:06 PM
This is too much for me to handle. I don't even want to make a prediction if we can get to 500 USD in November  Cheesy

I agree, this is too much for me to handle... I just went to sleep for a little bit and now it's fucking $408!? What the hell? All of this is giving me massive amounts of anxiety and making me wonder if I need to take out a loan to pay for more bitcoins lol...
757  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: November 03, 2015, 02:41:55 PM
Hey Tamari, go long (;

I really am worried for Tamari... does any one know if he has jumped off a cliff yet or something of the sort? I really hope not, but with all the financial loss he's acquired, I wouldn't doubt it at all.

You really think that any serious trader would have more than an irrelevant fraction of his portfolio in a penny stock like BTC?
Pretty sure he's doing fine.
You, OTOH...

lol, "bitcoin" "penny stock"... keep trying to tell yourself that, and justifying what the bears have lost already... I'm not really trying to rub it in any ones face, I truly feel bad for them. And I'm pretty positive Tarmi isn't some multi billion dollar CEO that can afford to lose 100's of thousands of dollars at whim.
758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there a difference between buying shares in the stock exchange and gambling? on: November 03, 2015, 02:37:44 PM
IMO, investing in cryptos right now is like playing stocks... it's just got more volatility to it and will give you the potential huge ROI if you pick a right moment to buy some.  I prefer not to think of it like that, because I see stuff like bitcoin to be actually useful as a currency rather than stock... but with the price increases as of right now, it's looking to resemble that.
759  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will BTC reach $400 during november? on: November 03, 2015, 02:25:19 PM
C'mon.  Let's ask a more interesting question:

Will BTC reach $1000 during November?
Interesting? Sure. Realistic? Not at all, however optimistic you may be. Taking a more rational approach at things, possibilities can only go for so long

See.  You guys are all newbs.  You really don't understand what's possible with bitcoin.  Check out November 2013.  Do you really think anyone thought it was possible to hit $1000 then when it was $200?

But as it is, we've gone up over $100 in a week.  And every day we're going up faster than the day before.

It's going to lead to prices going up ridiculously high and a lot of people are going to get hurt again when it comes crashing down, just like last time... people have forgotten that there are still block size issues to resolve, everything hasn't been fixed under the hood yet, and I'm sure at some point in time people are going to question why they are paying $1000 for a bitcoin when it's faulty... it's like buying a car that has no engine in hopes someone the next day will pay 100% more than you did the previous day... this is not going to end up well, again.
