Um, what's the reason why you're insisting on full rollout before the halving? Nothing like that accompanied the previous halving? Is it a technical reason?

And who told you you have a vote? You don't. It doesn't work like that.

If you are meaning why I think that miners will have a more difficult time with this halving than the previous halving; then I just meant that typically (I would think) that a good bit of big time miners that pay a lot of electricity costs and whatever to keep that "business" running full speed is going to have a tougher time keeping up with the costs... hence we get back to the centralized mining debate, and whether you believe that to be a big deal or not in terms of people losing out on a lot of money, there will be that initial period of time where the hashing rate will be pretty low, considering people are going to be exchanging bitcoins all over the place with the speculation running rampant.  ... So if we got a lot more bitcoins flying around and initially have less hashing power due to some miners (who brought a lot more hashing power than your typical 2012 miners did at the time) inevitably having to leave; then we will have potential a (maybe short) vulnerable point in time where the network security and effectiveness is going to be hurt...

Now whether people care about it and continue to pump money into it in the mean time is one thing.. but you can't tell me that there are just as many tx's going around as there was in 2012. More demand in bitcoin means more demand in hashing power.

... but again, it's all speculative. I don't claim to know that this will happen, it's just how I view things.

Edit: I know I don't have a vote, and no one told me that... I just think that since it's a P2P cash system that relies on people getting involved and hosting nodes, and etc. should mean that I should have a say in something. I know that would be ridiculously hard to set up and everything... but having the most powerful and influential people in this little economy we got set up controlling how everything works in the community is something I didn't sign up for, if I wanted that I would have just stuck with fiat.

It sure is. Anybody reading this, take my word, get in Ethereum.. Or you'll regret it forever.

Oh, got some smart contracting stuff you need to do soon? C'mon, the whole idea of Ethereum is a pie in the sky, nonsensical attempt of a crypto driven business model that doesn't make a lick of sense to anyone... but because it is different from the standard Bitcoin and cryptonote models, anyone can pretend that it is "the next big thing".

The average joe wants digitalized cash, not a digitalized contracts.
283  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Confirmations are getting faster ? on: June 14, 2016, 11:06:08 PM
It's just incredibly frustrating when the core team is still struggling to figure this out before the halving time comes.

What struggle? There are multiple stages to the scaling roadmap, and they only passed stage 1 pretty recently. The self-styled "competing" "ideas" have had much, much longer to convince the community of the credibility of their plans, and they got nowhere close to their target (which was much more modest, aka dangerously lower, than Core's activation threshold). The only struggle has been that of the corporate-media pumped Bitcoin Judases.

And the probability of this "roadmap" being completed before halving is probably somewhere close to zero.  Idk, the whole Bitcoin political system has really irritated me to say the least... big time miners and devs are the only people who have a real say in what goes on. I mean is that right? I don't think so... but my vote doesn't matter. Just makes the community less involved IMO.
284  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Confirmations are getting faster ? on: June 14, 2016, 10:15:13 PM

Yes, and what I'm saying is: If you help them increase their fees, they piss off the users they replaced in the block. It's a zero sum game and the maxblocksize should have been lifted before it was hit, like satoshi advised. This situation is a failure of Core's foresight and leadership.

Again, totally agree

Yeah, I know that... but what I'm saying that gives an easy advantage in the bidding schematic of confirming your transaction.  You have thousands of users using a mobile app that doesn't allow them to change the tx fee and they unknowingly put them selves at a major disadvantage.  Might end up getting a lot of pissed off people who aren't familiar of how this works might as well happen if this is the case.

Although some wallets dont use the dynamic fees so these users might have very hard time sending Bitcoins at such times when mempool is filled up with decent fee paying transactions, it is not first time, and everytime the answer is the same - you need to use wallet using dynamic fees and select priority for transaction corresponding how quickly you want your transaction to be confirmed and the wallet choose corresponding fee.

It mostly takes one terrible experience when transaction dont confirm but you need it the most to upgrade to better wallet using dynamic fees.

It's just incredibly frustrating when the core team is still struggling to figure this out before the halving time comes.  It'll be interesting to see how the network holds, but I can see that with people trying to move bitcoins in and out of so many exchanges and wallets (tends to be the case with an incremental price increase) and the second halving ever in history of Bitcoin coming together.

This year is already showing off like it should. The price got a tremendous boost
And then there is the block size and Mr. Craigh Wright, I don't think 2017 can beat that.

Yeah, but also the Chineese markets could also be manipulating the markets and creating a bubble just like willy did over at MtGox... I just try to keep things in perspective and get very concerned when people start wafting in their own stench of success in bitcoin trading and creating big time profits for themselves.  If you believe in the currency and believe in the technology behind it, by all means keep a good chunk of it (I am)... but if you are just doing it for mere speculation and getting a couple dollars here and there, then I don't envy your day job.
286  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am pretty confident we are the new wealthy elite, gentlemen. on: June 14, 2016, 10:04:56 PM
how many btc do i need to have in order to be a part of this elite club

I think that at the time of Op, there were quite a few people who owned 10k BTC and more because it would only cost a grand or less to accomplish such holdings.

Sure, over time the amount of coins is going to change and feeling wealthy is kind of relative, but probably, a person needs to minimally attempt to acquire 10 BTC at this price point.. and, yeah, if you can acquire 100 or more BTC at this point, you will likely be in decent shape in the future.

I don't really recommend investing balls to the walls, but if you are newbie getting into bitcoin now, then maybe you could front load a bit and then buy on dips and sell very small amounts on rises while keeping in mind that your goal is to attempt to accumulate as many coins as you can within your own budget.  By the way, I also don't believe in leveraging or borrowing in order to achieve such goals, but it could work out well in certain scenarios, even though it remains a fairly risky proposition (to leverage your BTC investment).

So, maybe newbies could target 10BTC to 100BTC, and just attempt to be reasonable in your acquisition and accumulation process.

Of course, perspectives and approaches are going to vary, so each of us has to find his/her own comfort level in this regard.

Yeah, I mean I wouldn't just go about this all willy nilly and say that it is a guaranteed type of thing to end up being a wealthy person from such a big time investment (I don't care what people on here say, but $1K+ investments are big money)... I know people hit it big and technically they have a lot of money holding in btc, but to say that someone should at least invest $7K to feel good about their holdings is pretty ludicrous... I guess I've just grown up poor and know what it's like not having much to throw around.

But yeah I agree, different perspectives and approaches to certain things for everyone.

I wonder if all of the mobile wallets are updating there tx fees before, after, or during the day of the halving? I feel like they would need to atleast give users some kind of formal heads up or just be ready to update when the time comes, but it's inevitably close now... It just seems that a lot of btc users like to stick to their phone wallets more than anything (ease of access I guess).

The Bitcoin network can only handle ~3.7 transactions per second, period. If everyone trying to use Bitcoin doubled their fees, it wouldn't help. They'd all still be bidding against each other for inclusion in a 1MB block.

If you are a BTC lover, would you one day like to get your paycheck 100% in BTC?

Personally I won't. Because many facilities in my area doesn't support BTC payment. Smiley I do not mind receiving, say, 20% of my pay in BTC denomination.

I think it's pretty obvious for you to figure out that it would be optimal for you to earn your income based on what you can pay your bills with.. Plus with you saying would you "one day" like to be paid in bitcoin means that you are giving us hope for a world where you can pay everything in bitcoin, and not just accept the status quo of today financial system.

290  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BitQuick.co: How's it doing now and days? on: June 09, 2016, 02:00:01 AM
Well when I've used localbitcoins, there seemed to be a multisig escrow where the buyer and seller have to verify the transaction was completed and then the 3rd party releases the bitcoins... so there seems to be somewhat of a middle man.  I looked at BitQuick earlier today and it seemed that they had lower markup rates than localbitcoins, but didn't know if it was still considered "scammy" and didn't want to take a chance in losing out.

I've also had uncomfortable situations at the bank where I've gotten question as to who I'm sending it too because I usually don't have an account at that particular bank... I just wish I had a bitcoin atm around where I live... would make life so much easier lol.

I've done several transaction with Bitquick. You're initial wariness is common, and often warranted when it comes to any crypto transactions. I was the same way, so my first transactions were small, under US$100. That said, over those several transactions my experience was always straightforward with no hint of anything untoward. And nobody at the few banks/CUs I used ever asked me who/why I was depositing. If they asked I was just going to say I was buying digital goods for my kid's online gaming. But nobody asked. And I think if I told them, they wouldn't care. These types of transactions have become more common I think. Wouldn't worry too much ...

So basically you go up to the teller and just ask for a deposit slip and fill everything out according to the account name/number and that sort of thing?  And I understand what you are saying about the bitcoin atm's, I'm sure there are some sort of regulation on exchanging bitcoins in such a public environment... I guess it looks like the best route is to try out BitQuick for a small amount of money like you were saying and see if everything goes well... if not, I can always go back and try localbitcoins again and try out the cash deposit there.

"20XX Year of Bitcoin."

Can't we just agree that every year is the year of Bitcoin?

Yeah you are right, let's just consider every year is the year of bitcoin.
Because there is always a good happening for bitcoin every year.

Bitcoin never has a dull year.

Actually I would even consider saying that it would be "the year of the Bitcoin" if it's price stabilizes and doesn't have crazy dips and spikes, which is considered to a lot of people being "dull"... but in order to be treated as a noteworthy "storage of wealth" there need to be a grace period where there isn't a whole lot of movement or a slow uptrend of maybe like $10-$20 over the course of the year to be considered "stabilized".  Then I think a lot more people that are considered to be outsiders will start to see bitcoin as something to invest in over the long haul, like with gold, and appreciate over time.

Then, and only then, you will start to see roswell capital commercials on TV (in the US) that promotes gold AND bitcoin purchasing to "prepare for retirement".
293  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin is Becoming a Global Currency on: June 07, 2016, 11:48:48 PM
Slowly but it is really becoming a global currency. More and more people use it and cause of that more and more sites and gadgets that accept it appear. I was reading that soon appear an ATC that accept bitcoins, somewhere in America. And I'm sure other countries will repeat it in few time.

I mean, I can see a world where we wouldn't use just bitcoin, but in terms of where/who it can reach in that you can send it to any one relatively quick I can see what you are saying.  Plus, it's the closest thing to paying someone "under the table" for miscellaneous jobs online without taxes and that sort of thing, so I guess that's a plus.  I couldn't even imagine having to file for taxes right now with all the random stuff I have bought and that sort of thing with bitcoin.
294  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency? on: June 07, 2016, 11:21:50 PM
Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

Yes, although if Bitcoin was going to be obsoleted (yes, a real word Grin) there would be a greater chance of radical changes being implemented in the bitcoin protocol.  So it might continue but in a changed form.

If they were to be way too radical, though, that would cause a lot of people to feel uneasy about keeping all of there funds in bitcoin... this is when you will see the scenario that there will be two or three coins at the very top in terms of pricing, but people seem to not realize that the price of something doesn't always mean that it is the best.  I mean a lot of the time the arguments forbitcoin is that it is simply higher in price, and their argument has nothing to do with the technical aspects of bitcoin.. which is really silly in my mind.
295  Economy / Exchanges / BitQuick.co: How's it doing now and days? on: June 07, 2016, 11:16:26 PM
I was trying to see if there were any recent threads about BitQuick since one of the premier Bitcoin ATM companies (I forgot who exactly) took over the site, because they were hacked awhile back...

Has anyone tried out the site recently?  If so how was it? I've only used localbitcoins in the past and was wondering about this site since it looks like they might have lower prices than what people on localbitcoins are selling for.
296  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2016-06-06] BitQuick acquired by bitcoin ATM company, relaunches exchange on: June 07, 2016, 08:22:56 PM
Have any of you guys tried out bitquick yet?  Just curious if it has any features that make it better than localbitcoins's cash deposits?
297  Economy / Speculation / Re: What will happen after the halving? on: June 07, 2016, 01:19:03 AM
What I can roughly assume is ,the service fees might increase a little bit.The prices of bitcoins will definitely sky rocket but that's other thing, however the network would be congested and hence there wouldn't be a lot of miners to solve all the transactions, the one's with the higher fees and high priorities with small tx size could be solved first.Maybe there would be a standardized way to calculate the transaction fees per bytes. You would never know actually.I'm hoping the bitcoin devs have something create in their minds.

Exactly, I hate how people automatically assume that it is going to skyrocket because of the thought that scarcity = price rises.  This might be the case at first since people have been assuming that for so long, but there will be a point in time where people will question whether they should be paying that much for a coin that has such a congested network that doesn't provide them any functionality other than being highly priced and is used for heavy speculation.
298  Economy / Auctions / Re: ❎ ~AUCTION #1 LEALANA PHYSICAL SILVER MONERO (XMR) - 3-coin sets ~ ⭕️ on: June 07, 2016, 01:08:22 AM
some have asked about unfunded versions of these coins and this is my response:

On the topic of unfunded coins, after much thought I've decided to require all buyers of the 3-coin silver monero sets to fund them with their face value: 25, 50, and 100 monero.

There will be no unfunded Lealana physical silver monero coins.

Beautiful coins by the way smoothie.

Does that apply for all of the sets or just these first 10? Also, will you continue to auction these off after the initial 10,  or just sell them first come first serve?

300  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Roger Ver and blocksize on: June 03, 2016, 09:55:54 PM
the only thing i know is that Ver and guys like him get rich some million dollars more with this recent bitcoin pump Tongue

most of us hoarders dont actually bother checking the price that regular anymore. im pretty sure Ver doesnt check it more then once a day or week... definitely not more then once a day.

knowing Vers hoard is based on 2011-2013 prices he knows he is in profit no matter what small price drama happens, 10% swings are meaningless.. so are 1% swings
we would all go insane if we were to be checking it regularly to see one minute its $550,000 hoard, next minute its $548,000 next minute its $552,000

so overall. the price drama is meaningless on the short term

Also, it makes since that is the case because of the fact that he held out on his stash for so long.  If he were to have jizzed his pants at the fact that it went up to $10 a while ago and sold everything, he wouldn't have the fortune he has acquired today... I guess lesson to be learned is that if you believe in something you gotta stick to your guns.
