Dude, I've been so damn busy lately, I just don't have the time to research it.  Its seriously because my girlfriend is cold and i told her i can just fire up a few GPU's in the bedroom at night, but I figure if I'm going to support the Darkcoin network, I outta do it right.  Thanks for the info though!

Well shit, if that's your main reason, you should be mining scrypt!  Might I suggest (since it's kinda for your girlfriend and all)   Dobbscoin! The ONLY Crypto-Currency accepted on the Pleasure Saucers of the X-ists!  I just gotta say, nothing says SLACK like warming yourself with the cheery glow of a GPU or two.  "Bob" Approves!

Im reaching around 30kh/s with haswell i7-4790 with 7 treads

Whaaaaaat?  And I thought you Intel boys were fast!  $330 bucks for that?  Should get your money back.

Sorry, but you know that oh ok, 'certain' Intel users treat AMD users like 2'nd class citizens.  Couldn't resist.

Grin Grin
hum, I always thought that AMD were 2nd class processor, no sure what I am thinking about AMD users though  Grin

Oh we're definitely a bit sleazy, but that's a good thing... right?

I'll always like the AMD cpus and gpus , but they havent any real architecture CPU development since several years...
Yeas I admit that overclocking is significant, but for 1Hz haswell is doing more work than any AMD CPU.

Yeah, but I got more of them!  They're just different chips.  AMD out-performs Intel in some things, not in others.  Just now found out that the trick of running 7 individual threads bound to individual cores doesn't work with my 8350.  At 5 threads they all slow down a wee bit, and at 7 threads there's no real difference.  The most important thing though is that price difference.  Consider, I got chip and board for $400!  You can't even get a motherboard over $300 for AMD, top stuff for Intel is $500+.  There are a hell of a lot of people out there who probably wouldn't even have a system if it weren't for AMD's el-cheapo combos.  Essentially though, they're just different.

*sigh*  Oh ok, confession time... Overclocked to 5Ghz.  Spexx miner, 7 threads, Win-7 64 bit.

Lately I've been playing around with some extreme ram clocks and timings (2133's taken to 2650 anyone?) and I'm pretty sure there's some sweet spots.  I've noticed better hashing with looser timings for instance.  So if you find it's sitting there and twiddling, maybe give it some slack.

It does all fit in this, but I'd like to do a desktop build, laid out all flat like this.   I just had to see all those rads stacked together though, just because.

Keep hammering at this!  It's not flash and doesn't reek of hookers and liquor but it's real and real important.  Any knowledgeable and sane person is revolted by the massive waste of computing power that is the Bitcoin network.  I can't imagine what that kind of power could do if harnessed properly.  (Actually, lots of Lattice QCD comes to mind)  Our hashing should have value, not just juggling numbers for the hell of it.

Refresh my memory... this type of pool just spits out coins via those addresses and into the open wallet, right?

Edit:  Yep, starting to roll in!

One thing, when I run the wallet it tells me I can't use --server option without name/pass being set, however name and password are set.  Set server=0 to get rid of that.  Same when run with --server option though.

I've been searching for these cards specs on Darkcoin but its been so long since i've mined Darkcoin (it was a hot summer) but now my desktop is back in action ready to mine.  Can someone help me out?

I'm using my SGMiner from May: sgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.simpledrk.com:3353 -u Address -p x -w 128 -I 13 -k darkcoin

Is there a better more targeted approach?  Is there a more effecient miner out now?

Oh man have you missed a LOT!!!  (Um, google-fu mon, google-fu)

I can solo mine with the Wolf0 neoscrypt.cl with cgminer-3.7.7.bNeoscrypt.  I cannot with any sgminer.  I get the same error message.

What error message are you getting?  I solo-mine a lot of things with a lot of sgminer variants.

Concerning worries about overheating your CPU, there are 2 handy things you can do;

-install this program and run it: http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ .You can set overheat protection at a temp you like.

-replace your standard CPU cooler with a better one. I bought the Tatsumi SCTTM-1000B (approx € 24,-) and this lowered my CPU temp running 8 cores at 100% from 70C to 50C

Amd FX-8350 + Thermalright HR-02 Macho Black with 100% load - 54 C
and HD7970 + HD 7850 with 100% load - 62 C

Ooof!  BIG!  But then I had a V-8 once, bigger.  Those things get so totally unwieldy, just too much bulk!  Believe me, get one of these and you'll never look back.  Look at all that room!

http://www.overclock.net/t/1298561/various-thermaltake-water-2-0-extreme-all-in-one-liquid-cooling-system-reviews

Quite affordable too, if you consider the following... Those have to be stock clocks you're quoting there, but I get the same temperatures at 5Ghz.  You're basically buying another 20% machine!

My bad girl.  Nothing gets over 65C.

Great for modding vid cards too, that's my 7950 on top.

Been tightening up and overclocking the ram lately.  RipjawsX 2133's, CL11.

2133's at 2650?  AIEE!   Um no, it wasn't exactly stable.

You'll never regret going to water-cooling.

It was all rented out earlier!  Suchpool saw an increase of 25 new miners mining Magi m7m with either their existing users or new comers!  This is a good sign for the future as more users are either supporting magi on regular wallet, tor wallet, Mobile App (coinmarketapp) or once the mobile wallet comes out, and stay active on pools... the pool support is important for the community as it helps miners expand their reward possibilities!  I've called magi will exceed 100k views in the first 30 days... now I think its going towards direction of community growth.

https://www.miningrigrentals.com/rigs/12215/

there is a 760.00Kh/s for rent low price...

almost all rigs are rented!

Available Rigs:    3 (800.00Khash/s)
Rented Rigs:    12 (1.12Mhash/s)
Average (last 10):    0.07829000
Last:    0.089

heh he just get it down to 650khs and put the price up a little

I find the idea of renting a rig designed to mine one single coin pretty funny and ridiculous.  As has been noted, with how people have priced their rigs, you'd be basically doubling what they'd crank out on their own.  Just for kicks tonight I set up my Bad Girl for rental quoting 30Kh/s for 0.04/mh/d.  She cranks out 37+  though so the person who rented it paid me a quarter, and earned a dime.  Oy!  I'll readjust those numbers though to be at par.  Why not?  I mean, renting sha/scrypt/x11 rigs involves strategy, but this has as much strategy as flipping a coin, one with two heads.

Great interest in this though!  I gotta say that I just HATE false axioms, like "CPU mining isn't profitable!  Period!"  Um no, GPU/ASCI mining isn't sustainable, because the profit margin lies in being out in front of the pack in a headlong rush over an inevitable cliff.  Amazing, all these so-called heavy math jocks can't seem to do simple extrapolation.
1211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: need help config sgminer for mining profitcoin on: November 16, 2014, 09:42:28 AM
It is not worth mining with your equipment. You will get more with free promotion. Link: http://www.gawminers.com/pages/zencloud-account#zencloudsignupform

But that's not what you asked.  *sigh*  True though.  Here's the hardware comparison chart which does contain some settings for your card if you want to see for yourself.

https://litecoin.info/Mining_Hardware_Comparison

As you can see, 20Kh/s doesn't even rate.  You'll take a full month to mine what I do with my 7950 in a day, and that's a fairly mainstream card for this.

Interesting lifestyle you and Nathan Passey had in Thailand John. You are obviously an individual with very high ethical and moral standards.

That?  Nasty?  Are you kidding?  You should see my scene.  You should also get out a bit more.

Good grief!
They were talking about rectal tears, ladyboys and STD infections.
What kind of freaking scene are you involved in?  Shocked

Three words... Tiajuana Basket Job.

I vote for Coin Magi [XMG] Developer Joelao95 for understanding what distributed computing is all about.

This scene has accepted false axioms that will destroy it if left unchallenged.  Extrapolating the course of Bitcoin leads to the inevitable conclusion... a black-hole of computation, essentially worthless.  It's inevitable.

(edited in)  Prove me wrong.  Arguments to be made using ZFC set theory.

Very strong choice of words. I have to agree with you though. He's onto something that is shaping this path for the better mass adoption of the industry

Well if 1+1=2 be strong words, so be it!  Smiley  Math is so... definite.  I find it quite disconcerting that everyone seems to be ignoring the obvious.  For Turing's sake mon, this headline is from last year!

Forbes: Global Bitcoin Computing Power Now 256 Times Faster Than Top 500 Supercomputers, Combined!

In the past year that hash-rate has increased almost 100 times!!!  And then you get this...

Coming soon – Bitcoin Mining Supercomputers from Bitcoin Brothers.

Any guesses as to how long this can go on?

MiningRigRentals is getting hash power eaten!! People are enjoying the new m7m algo.
Watch when other clones develop ontop of magi's innovation. I see a trend about to happen.

It looks to me as if renting these cpu's cost ten times the daily profit.
Why would I rent it for such an expensive price?
Or am I miscalculating?

how did you calculate?

32 kh/s -> around 8 xmg a day = 0,0004 btc.
costs mining rental a day (32 khs * 0.09 mhash/day): 0,003 btc  = 800 %.

I was kinda floored by the rates too.  Also wondering what those renters were thinking!  Margings are thin there on all the algos, gotta really be set up right, and ready to jump around, have your backups etc etc.

I'd like to post a rig or two myself, but there seems to be absolutely nothing online about how to set up, what's needed etc etc.  Info anyone?

Oh, and one reason I'd like to list, put a bit of realistic honesty into those numbers.

Edit:  And here once again we've got an example of the minimalist style of this scene... one bit of text, roll-over, not highlighted, pointed to, big shiny button, etc etc.  C'mon people, when it comes to information (and most other things) "Too Much is Always Better than Not Enough!"  We're supposed to be computer geeks obsessed with protocols and triple-checks.  I've got on more than a few nerves over the years (!!!) but it took me thirty of them before I finally accidentally formatted the wrong hard-drive.  (3 days sleepless, identical drives, bugger).

So, someone go and rent out my Bad Girl and take her for a drive.  Set way more honest price in the hopes that others will follow, then we'll recalc.

Thought that mined per day was a little low.  I get 16+ per day on around 35 kh/s.  I've set mine to 0.04 for now.  Slight profit but that 30 Kh/s is more like 35+.  Sooooo... anyone catch that pump today?  Joy!

It is so nice, so refreshing, to see that the top miner in the pool has hashrate only five times mine.  Time to move my machine to a nice cold place, I would like that 5.3 Ghz now please.

Thank-you!
1218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU Mining on: November 13, 2014, 07:14:41 PM
It is not profitable for me to mine. But the heating helps a bit.

Same.

I earned approximately $4 yesterday mining with 2x290x and 4x280x with neoscrypt on westhash. Not nearly enough to pay the power costs. I have a 40mh/s scrypt asic as well that pulls about 1000w that is just barely profitable, but it keeps my upstairs warm.

I had three 6950's blowing on my shins all last winter.  Mmmm.... 6950's!
