How about the Seidon 120 XL?  Would it be enough to keep an AMD HD 7970 cool?  How do you deal with the RAM and VRMs temperatures?

It's actually the 120 that I have.  That was just the first good picture that turned up.  As for how well it works, not much difference between the 7950 and 7970...

Ok, wish I had more on tap but... 7950 @ 1200/1600 Heaven 4.0 run, Max temp = 43C, VRM's at 48.

Firestrike run @ 1240/1740.  Assume everything is under 60C.
7950 after a 3Dmark-11 run.  1200/1600.

Same results with a 6950.

You're right in guessing that the real problem is the VRM block.  Basically, heatsinks and rig some fans, that's it.  You'll never have to worry about your shader melting down though.

My "Bad Girl"  She's stable at 5.25 Ghz (just don't mention her sister).

Totally lucked out there in getting two Thermaltake 2.0's for $22 each, because they had the wrong firmware on them (oh boo hoo!)

$200 chip, $150 motherboard.  Suck it Intel!  Cheesy

I'm getting 330Kh/s on my 290x
What does your config look like? I do not see even close to that.

With AMD HD 7xxx and later GPUs, running the latest Omega drivers, you have to use an option called --cl-opt-disable.  For some reason these latest AMD GPUs with GCN architecture work better when you disable OpenCL optimizations.  On the other hand, this option doesn't have a positive effect on older AMD GPUs and nVidia.

Example for my 290x:

cgminer --kryptohash --cl-opt-disable -o http://127.0.0.1:38912 -u {RPC_username} -p {RPC_password} --shaders 2816 --shaders-mul 8

Very important: Don't forget to delete the kshake320v2%YourGPUname%.bin file inside the cgminer directory after you add/remove the --cl-opt-disable parameter.  It is the only way to force cgminer to recompile the OpenCL kernel and include/remove the cl-optimization flag.

Urrr?  I'm only getting 280 Kh/s out of my R9-290 and I've got it cranked up to 1175!  Same too simple to fail config, obviously with shaders at 2560.  But... duh... let's go through those cl libs.

Yeah, runs kinda hot eh!  Shader is a cozy 45C but I've still got this 10-15C discrepancy between that and the VRM1 block.

Edit:  Ah bugger.  Right, throttling due to power.  I was cranking it for a low power algo earlier and had upped the voltages.  Interesting cards, the 290's, I'm used to pushing it 'till it moves, but with these you've gotta finesse.

Boo-Yah!  326 Kh/s @ 1125/1250.  Shader 45C & VRM's still needing a heat-sink (59C).  Now for the 7950....

Check it... notice something about the mount here?  Cooler Master Seidon series...

They are exactly matched to ATI card heat-sink mount holes.  It's the easiest mod around, and I'm sure there are a lot of used units out there.  I can't get my 7950 over 70 C, over-volted and shoving hard!

Just tried the new miner.  Nice!  Speed with AVX version on stock FX-8350 = 75 Kh/s on 6 cores.  Unfortunately my water-cooler mount had a problem so back to stock cooling right now (ewww!) but I should be getting close to 100 Kh/s once my girl is back in shape.

There's a new miner ?

Scroll up just a weeee bit.  Can't miss it.

The offical mining pool will be up in three or four days,It will be fixed up!just wait for some days!We need your hash rate!

Not going anywhere, just curious.

So it looks like this is a GPU coin, period.  When your dealing with orders of magnitude it doesn't much matter if you're running an old P4 or the latest Power8 monster.  I got 40Kh/s on my FX-8350 and a combined 40Mh/s on my 7950/R9-290.  Thousand to one.

To the poor sods with crappy hash rates.... BIG difference in speed depending on which driver version you've compiled your BIN files on (this for ATI cards of course).  I get the best hash rates using the 13.12 drivers.  Crypto-mining blog has just published a convenient guide for recompiling kernels without redoing any drivers right here..

Oh,It's drivers BUG,We just use CPU for test,We didn't mine any coins now,so....we don't know what caused it... Wink

Not sure which bug you're talking about.  There are a few algos that Pruvot's miner program does very well, but in most cases the GPU implementation blows it away.

Here's something I'd like to know.... How does one set the difficulty when solo-mining?   I've looked long and hard before asking, can't find anything anywhere on this...

Edit:  Should we be changing that "--vote 0"?

Now here's something curious.... This is my hash speed connected to Suprnova.  Merrily merrily...

But this is what I get when I point the miner at the wallet.  Same settings.

Not a problem or anything, but I do find it strange.  What are the FULL params for solo though?  Is there a difficulty modifier?

I seem to be more than 10% of the network... Hoorah!   I've attained relevance!  (Mom would be so proud)

Okay!  Pool at coin-miners seems to be up and running so I'm switching over.  We should have these split fairly even an a few hold-outs solo-mining.  Oh, I'm assuming port 9845 for that?

Edit:  Or not....

thank U sir , now im understand , ya im new in cryptocurrency  Grin , im always mining from rent and just send my coin to exchange , just download some wallet Altcoin if the coin not have exchange  , and im not found trojan or another warning from my scanner , and this GPUminer i found warning , i hope this false alarm  . thanks for explain

It is.  Mining right now at 11Mh/s on my 7950 with the crappy cooler and 21Mh/s on the R9-290 with GOOD cooling (that I built myself).  Note that what AMD drivers you have installed make a HUGE difference with this algo.  Whatever I was running when I made the BIN files that give me those speeds only gave me half that when I tried it with the current 14.9 drivers.

My batch file:

cgminer.exe --heavy --vote 0 -o stratum+tcp://te.suprnova.cc:3678 -u Atomicat.1 -p x -I 1,4 -w 128 -g 2

1131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [BARAK] Occupy Banks Coins (Israel) on: February 20, 2015, 10:18:13 PM
I really don't understand why you don't concentrate on doing ONE thing, and doing it well, and working hard to make it a success.  Castles in the air mean nothing, you need to build a foundation beneath.  All you're doing now is throwing out ideas without substance.  You can't expect anyone to take you seriously unless you're willing to do a little more than draw pictures of Barak Cohen (is he your husband???) and copy the Coca-Cola logo.  Grin

The main thing that I try to do is to show  the way for a multi-curernccy system to evolve form a national currency monopoly that is near a catastrophic failure.

But you don't show, you just toss out vague concepts and buzz-words.  I'm also pretty sure that most people here have a pretty clear idea as to how this happened.

If I was an established decorated economist I would make a presentation and go around many respected institutes to make my words heard. Im sure the you and many others will consider that as one serious project . And I could be payed handsomely for doing that. But having no such certificates I have no stage or ordinance attention to my presentation.

If you were an established decorated economist you would have gone through years of rigorous training and had to do a ton of work to prove that you have a broad and superior understanding of economics, one worth listening to.  You would also have had to make many presentations where your ideas were outlined and clearly understood by your audience.  You have done none of this.

A presentation as a goal is as important as  to create one coin for people tot invest their money in it. For the presentation I had to create more then one coin formalized its monetary model and create a working model, I have done this fully with my Coca-Cola Coin and Disney Coin. with both I created the coins and the products to buy using the coin according to the monetary model it present.

Have you?  All we've seen is some wrinkled up Coca-Cola image that looks like it was printed on a papadum.  As to the model and concept, I don't think anyone could figure out what it was.

The Apple Coin and Ebay  Coins are at the stage in which the model has been formulated but I have not spent the time to create or even figure out the way to  create a real art product to execute the model.

Why not?   It's been half a year, more!  I learned Autocad Lisp and wrote a custom industrial app in less time.  I learned 6811 machine language in less time.  In six months I will have been out in the field 5-6 days a week, for 4-8 hours, at 4:00 am till noon, and will have taken a hundred thousand pictures.  It's called work.  You can't create by just "conceptualizing" which is why "concept" art will never be real, because it's never executed and turned into reality.

Just plain lazy.

Frankly, this sounds like much better offer:

Better idea... Anyone sending me back to Iceland will get 50% ownership of all the work I do there during my trip.  Guaranteed results from an already established award-winning photographer.  Beautiful pieces that you can hang in any home and give to your grandmother without embarrassment.  It's 50% yours!  Partner up with me and we both win.

I agree that one is a better offer... Let's see where both artists go Grin

Well thanks to you both!  As to where I'm going, first to London, because I've got enough air-miles to get there and there are ridiculously cheap flights from there to Iceland.  I'll be using Couchsurfer.com which is full of fellow photographers with connections.  My goal is to do a detailed study of one subject, this waterfall, and do an entire book about it including an interview with the family who have this natural wonder in their back-yard.  How it fits in with their life, what it means to them, etc, etc.  Most people seem to have this hit-and-run attitude towards their subjects, always rushing off to the next one.  I prefer to soak in it, listen, feel, smell, turn the mind off and go Ommmmm.  You have to switch everything off to really hear.  I only had half an hour with this subject due to circumstances beyond my control.  Unfinished business, I won't rest until I'm back there and have done what needed to be done.

P.S.  Wanna see a REAL photographer?  This guy here, now that's a photographer, that's what it takes.

I know eh!  Need more material!  I'm almost finished my paper on narcissistic personality disorder, just need some key quotes for the summation.  Something about the reincarnation of Picasso would be perfect.

1136  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Constant High GPU Temps Bad? on: January 19, 2015, 11:26:17 AM

You could try adding additional fans to your system to lower the load on the GPU funs, then they could run at slower speeds. You should just make sure your VRM temperatures are in check too - some GPUs have sensors for the VRMs and their temperatures will show up in GPU-z. I'd try and keep VRM temps below 80C.

You could also try downvolting your card - that way it would take less power, and the fans could run slower too.

How about Watercooling my GPU?

Watercooling can still go to dangerous temperatures. Keep this in mind.

Oh really?  You've got proper answers here but I do wanna show off this... If you're into it, and you can get a couple of el-cheapo cpu water-cooling units, closed loop ones, you can get some very effective cooling happening, which translates to some ripping overclocking.  Here's my setup.  The hardest thing to cool was the VRM's which were running 20 deg hotter than the core, note the fan array and heat-sink.

So how does it run?  I can't even get CLOSE to 55 deg on the 7950!  CRANKED!

I picked up an R9-290 a couple of weeks ago for just over $200 Can.  Buddy must have thought he was getting rid of a lemon because it was IDLING at 80C.  After slapping a block on I now have a 290 that'll do 1150/1500 and stay under 60C.  Sweet!

1137  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: GPU miners, welcome on: January 09, 2015, 05:36:50 AM
Only way?  Buy used, buy cheap, but you still gotta live by the numbers.  I got a great deal on an R9-290 recently, $220 Canadian.  Ran at 80C when IDLING.  Slapped a $50 water-cooling loop on it so it can run full-tilt now.  Even then, I'll be lucky to get 50c to a buck a day with it.  It's definitely a hobby thing by now, a why not if you got it.

I have massive hash power in a warehouse and datacenter. I want to know if you guys have any recommendations for cooling. Would air condition be the best option or some premium cooling fans? Let me know what you guys use. Thanks.

(I am going to start offering hash power soon  Wink )

Getting down to -28C here these days.  How about shipping me a few racks?  Cheap electricity, 6c a Kw/h!  Wink

Good lord.  Ho-Leee-Crap!  Really?  REALLY!!!

Seems I'm the only person who reads books anymore.

"But the most absurd and preposterous of all, and which shewed, more completely than any other, the utter madness of the people, was one started by an unknown adventurer, entitled “A company for carrying on an undertaking of great advantage, but nobody to know what it is.” Were not the fact stated by scores of credible witnesses, it would be impossible to believe that any person could have been duped by such a project."

Wow.  So you really thought you'd just toss it out there and well, ask people to give you a pile of money.  Well why not, better than a lot I've seen around here.  And who knows, people, particularly GREEDY people, are just so shit stupid it hurts.

The man of genius who essayed this bold and successful inroad upon public credulity, merely stated in his prospectus that the required capital was half a million, in five thousand shares of 100l. each, deposit 2l. per share. Each subscriber, paying his deposit, would be entitled to 100l. per annum per share. How this immense profit was to be obtained, he did not condescend to inform them at that time, but promised that in a month full particulars should be duly announced, and a call made for the remaining 98l. of the subscription. Next morning, at nine o’clock, this great man opened an office in Cornhill. Crowds of people beset his door, and when he shut up at three o’clock, he found that no less than one thousand shares had been subscribed for, and the deposits paid. He was thus, in five hours, the winner of 2000l. He was philosopher enough to be contented with his venture, and set off the same evening for the Continent. He was never heard of again."

Really people.  Start reading some REAL fucking books.  Start with this one.
