262  Economy / Scam Accusations / Bitmain and Issues With 2 Batches of S5 orders totaling almost $3000 on: April 19, 2015, 10:42:24 PM

Like i said i would do....i received a resolution to my issues as of 4/27/15. I wont delete my thread but i agreed to edit it and add that i got a resolution to what was said below.

Okie dokie.....where to start where to start.....i guess let me add a disclaimer to this thread so it makes a bit more sense:

I am in no way saying Bitmains products dont work.....because they do.....this thread is for the lies and dodging they have been doing to me and many other customers for a very long time which not only wastes our time but has cost us quite a bit of money im sure....i know it has cost me money and time that is worth more money so enough is enough its time to post it here for everyone to see even bitmain.

now that i got that outta the way lets move on to the issues im having. like many when the s5 was first announced i waited and waited for them to be released but when they were i was asleep so i missed the first batch. luckily though they released batched 2 and i was able to pick up 3 of them. the total here was $1239 bucks as seen in the pic below of my order receipt. I paid on time and was happy with the specs posted by them and awaited their arrival.

when they came everything seemed fine but when i tried testing the features they listed on their advert all over the place i wasnt able to get the results they said would happen. by features i mean:

1. Quiet mining (they sounded like a jet taking off non stop! theres nothing quiet about them!

2. can run using 9v power to lower power consumption all the way down to .2w per gh/s

i figured it had to be enabled via a firmware update or something and i had time before they werent worth mining with anyway so i waited to see what kind of tested was done by other users. well after not seeing anything for months i decided to email bitmain to see exactly what psu was used to run these at 9v so i could eliminate any hardware issues because i paid for these s5's because they were supposed to go down to .2w per gh/s which would increase their usability when the diff goes up and they cost too much to run. what i got back from bitmain was kinda suprising:

Me = GREEN
BMT = RED

"Hey

Is there gonna be a firmware update that lets the antminer s5's support the voltage inputs u said they are supposed to handle?? Because right now they cant run at 9v or 10v without wigging out on us. The 9v supply is more then enough amperage as well and same goes for the 10v supply but they either throw up errors or run then stop randomly with x's leading me to believe its a firmware issue and nothing has been posted about any updates to the firmware so im getting a bit worried now lol. Also do u have ne ideas on reease dates for new miners?? They dont have to be exact dates...generalized ones like for example "april 15-25th" or something like that work just fine. I just wanna know so i gather up some more btc to bulk order when the batch get released. I was going to order the s5 but i saw they sold out so now i wait for the next model which i can only assume is the s6.
"

"Hi,
for S5, Input voltage should not be less than 12.00V, since it is based on serial power solution and there is no DC/DC inside the miner. Higher input voltage will cause higher mining efficiency.
And it cannot work well with 9V or 10V.

Best Regards

BITMAIN
"

so right there i saw 2 issues. one of which was confirmed by someone that actually knows what hes doing it seems and he said at higher voltage the opposite happens....so why support would say add more voltage is a bit weird but the main thing is that the states the s5's dont run on 9v power....but like you saw above thats how it was advertised. it wasnt advertised as maybe it works or that it wasnt tested....the ad clearly shows that past batch 3 (i think it was there in batch 4 as well....the ss is from the batch 3 advert because its all i had available before the revissions) that if you want to run it more efficiently then use 9v power but when using 9v the controller wont even boot up and if it does boot the boards arent detected....no psus will work and i have tried multiple so the feature that drew me and others in to buy miners was a bold faced untested lie! when i continued on with asking what they meant about 9v not working this is what i got:

"sHi,
Sorry for the inconvenience.
After double checking, we confirm the S5 cannot work well with 9V, so we crossed out this description.
"

"Ya but what happens now to the people that paid when that feature was available??

Sent from my iPhone
"

"Hi,
We have correct it immediate after we get the info, it has been a long time now.
Once the miner can work well with 12V, no need to worry about it.
Thanks.
"

"Hi,
We published the miner with 12V,1155Gh/s hash rate guaranteed.
We only mentioned you may use 9V, but we didn't promise the hash rate under 9V. As you can imagine as well, even if you can connect the 9V to the miner, the hash rate cannot be 1155gh/s as well since you didn't provide enough power:)
"

after checking further i noticed no announcement or compensation being given to buyers from 4 batches prior to this silent "change" were given. its sickening that a company like bitmain chose to do this to buyers and i have been trying to get compensation since this issue was mentioned but they have stopped replying to my emails about it all together and the support here tells me to email bitmain itself which obviously doesnt help since they r ignoring me alltogether.

If this werent enough i had anout batch come in that was ordered because the specs were revised and didnt mind the miners themselves except the noise the main issue is the company and their huge ass lying schemes to steal customers money and silent revissions well my second batch was nothing like the first!

i paid $1700 for 5 "Brand new" s5's and what came were 5 dirty and used miners. the first 3 that came were clean and fresh which when comparing the 2 im left assuming a few things and im pretty sure they r correct:

1. the miners  sent when first released are basically brand new....not much use on them at all which explains why the first 3 i ordered had zero dust as far as i could tell.

2. batches after the first couple of batches are used and abused miners that are nothing like the first batches...they have been running on shelves for months up to that point so they r caked with dirt and dust.

3. by the end of their run they start sending miners that are dirty used and have had repairs done to them which these miners have had repairs done. solder paste does not leave residue un the form of globs of flux. solder paste if lobbed onto the board will leave blobs of solder which none are to be found....there is so little flux in solvder paste that ot leaves little to none behind. my boards have globs of crusty flux on resistors in specific places and the boards that do also have the letter R written on them with a black magic marker...not by me but by them! they also have other wirting on the boards that is also caked over with dust so these are NOT new!!!!!

Bitmain sells NEWWWWWW miners but sends used and overclocked miners?? the miners i got had warped side panels. when taking my heat gun over them a foot above i noticed something.....when trying to flatten them out and they get hit with warm air the first thing they do is curl a little bit. after a little bit longer then flatten out to how they should sit. this was interesting to me because thats also proof they have been run and run hard! the miners i got the first time were straight but this batch of 5 were warped and bubbled like they were subject to more heat they they should be subject to.

i also noticed on some components there is thermal paste. these components are on the oposite side of the heatsink side so no thermal paste should be there. the paste isnt on just any components either its in the rows of black components (not the asics) that line up with screw holes that arent used when they come to the consumers end which leads me to believe there was another heatsink attached to the oposite side of the board but for what?? well when coupled with the above info im left thinking these were run overclocked for quite some time and died....they they got repaired amd resold as "new" but werent even cleaned first. i ran my finger from top to bottom and it was pitch black! it was so grimey i cant even describe it right! when i emailed them they replied with:

"Hi,
What's the order id? May you provide some graphic as reference?
all miners are new, because the factory is under construction so it will be lots of dust when doing aging test for several hours。
sorry for the inconvenience.
And please confirm whether the miners are working well now.
"

i replied saying that this amount of dust isnt from a few hours of running. no place in the world gets this much dust from only a few hours! its rediculous.....but then it gets even better:

"Hi,
Very sorry for the inconvenience.
May you turn on the miner can confirm whether it can work well? Provide us the screenshot of Miner status as reference.
S5 hasn't been sold for long time and there is no used ones. due to factory is still under construction, there is a lot of dust.
Sorry for the troubles.
"

so basically if the miners work y r u complaining?? well im pissed because i had to clean this shit off these "brand new" miners and they i get dick slapped in the face by an excuse that has been used for years now.......they have been saying this factory is under construction since the s1 days.....and even then if this is from a few hours of them running y is not every asian in that place dead?? the buildup in their lungs from a single days work should kill them if this was true but hey none are dead so what does that tell ya?? they also have the nerve to imply working miners r worth the same used and new?? so will u buy my used g35x and pay me the $50 grand it cost brand new?? i highly doubt i can get away with that one and i bet the first thing they would say is "but its used" and once i say "but turn it on and make sure it drives" they will just walk away so y do they think its ne different with every other product sold anywhere?? no one should pay new prices for used equipment and no one should get sold something based on untested lies and then get ignored when they want compensation for their fuckup.

resolutions i will accept:

1. full/partial refund for miners bought based on ur lies so basically 8 s5's

2. new miners for free (not 8 new miners im not greedy and unreasonable) to offset the shit u dropped on me 2 times in a row!

3. everyone with an s5 order before batch 4 gets a patial refund for your lies.....every batch of s5's gets a partial refund for the non quiet feature that is clearly also a lie!

265  Economy / Collectibles / Wtb silver coins (quarters, dimes, nickels, half dollars,etc....us and non us) on: April 11, 2015, 06:38:22 PM
Like the title says im interested in buying silver coins. Im not buying them for their collectability so i wont pay over their silver value for them so that usually leaves up to 1964 coins except nickels where they only had silver ones during a few year period but im offering $1.00 UNDER spot price because with pawn shops and dealers they tend to not even come close to spot price especially in maryland from what i have seen so i think $1.00 per oz under spot isnt asking alot at all so if for example:

1oz means 1 troy oz

The silver coins u have equal 1oz

And 1oz is $15

Then take $1.00 from that $15....$15-$14 per 1oz

Im paying via paypal only not through btc unless you send me coins first. Paypal covers us both ways and i have sold things on here and purchased multiple things on here before so if u send first i will pay btc if u want payment first then im down with paypal all the way....besides my accounts are business accounts so i have built them up transaction wise since before i was actually 18 so no problems there.

Ne way since its hard to find the treads i make on this forum when using my iphone post here but to get faster replies please also pm me so i get the email to reply back to you.

Also sorry for the long thread....that is all Smiley.

Sales terms and Legal inquiry, please send request and questions to info@bitmaintech.com

We the techs can't answer that for you.

I had a question that i havent seen others ask....

I ordered 3x s5's from u guys from batch 2 because batch 1 sold out while i was asleep but when i ordered we were promised quiet and cool miners and that they can handle a voltage down to 9v to provide .2w per gh/s. When i got my miners it was clear they werent "quiet" at all or even close to it. I sent emails asking wtf happened here and got no replies. I sent u a message on here and got 0 reply as well. A couple of weeks ago i emailed bitmain asking what psu did they use to get 9v. They replied telling me 9v isnt supported only 12v is and for a second i thought i was losing my damn mind because i read their advertising information for the s5 sooooo many times and i know i didnt miss the s5 being able to go down to 9v part....i mean who can make that stuff up?? I sure as hell cant. So i checked the product page and it wasnt there ne more....luckily its listed in the announcement thread but it is now crossed out i guess to say its not a valid claim ne more. So if that wasnt bad enough the reps told me u guys removed it as soon as u found out it wasnt true so "dont worry about it".....what the fuck do u mean dont worry about it?? U made a claim that u guys didnt test got over $400 per miner from me plus shipping....then u removed the feature that made me want to buy the fuckers to begin with and then dick slap me in the face by tellin me "dont worry about it"Huh? Why wasnt i or ne one else that purchased miners before this change was made given some kind of compensation for your false advertising?? Why do u still claim to sell a cool and quiet miner that is neither cool nor quiet?? In fact it runs almost 20 degrees hotter then your s3+'s in the same room. Sure it hashes faster but it seems like u guys went el cheepo on the design and didnt make the whole unit enclosed like the s3....if u enclosed it im sure it would improve cooling allowing for lower rpm fans to be used but the noise isnt even the worst part....the worst part is how people like me invested thousands and even way more then me on your products only to get shafted secretly....please explain to me how this is appropriate??

u cant answer y the miner is so damn loud when it was sold as being quiet?? i emailed bitmain and they r telling me this stuff wasnt listed as being fact.....they r saying they never promised anything in their description but if that were true y didnt they say (untested and might not work) or something similar next to the item on the list....instead they stated it can do this and can do that when really it cant do anything they claim it can....this is some shit dude!
267  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Cointerra Hardware Support **Unofficial on: April 08, 2015, 04:16:20 PM
lol sooooo who is the dude saying its a good idea to hook these to a car battery?? i told a guy before its not a good idea to hook them to a car battery to blow the fets that are failing so the board can boot back up again....i dont feel like going through page after page to find my older posts in this thread but to recap my later comments.....dont reverse the inputs (keep ground to ground and pos to pos dont put pos to neg and neg to pos) and if you want to blow the fets of board that look like they are dead even after verifying the pumps work and the thermal paste is good then use a server psu with 2 wires hooked to it that wont shut off like the cointerra psus do and pulse the psu on for a second or 2 then off for a second or 2 then on again and off again until the fet fully blows leaving a clear indication of which one is bad and needs to be replaced and or lets the board at the very least power on again and more often then not hash again but it will be slightly slower because the fet powering the die will be blown so for each 2 fets top and 2 on the bottom goes to 1 die so if 1 of the fets blows in the group 1 die will be down until its replaced. u want to pulse the power not just turn it on and let it burn because they get white hot in a second or so and will burn through the multiple layers of the board pretty fast. i had people send me their broken boards to do this and or replace the failed fets if they didnt have the tools to do it since i do so if u have dead looking boards with no lights and no char patches give this a shot and see how it works for you and if you have boards with gree lights but only partially hashing i can replace the fets on the board for u just pm me if interested but to get most boards back up and running this is what u do....not hooking a 12v car battery to the boards....i wonder if it was the same dude that sent me his boards to be fixed and that i told him a car batter wasnt a good idea lol.
268  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain tech support and warranty on: April 08, 2015, 02:18:47 PM
Nom nom nom.....still waiting bitmaintech support.....u have viewed my messages and replies so ur clearly ignoring my questions and concerns when im in need of "support". Where the heck r u located that allows u to not do what ur gettin paid to do?? In amerrrrca i cant do that without getting into trouble lol soooooo u must not be here right?? Ne who imma keep posting and messaging and emailing until i get some sort of resolution or even a reply.
269  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain tech support and warranty on: April 07, 2015, 06:31:01 PM
numnutz2009 I appolgize it appears i had a different number in my head then listed.   I have never underclocked it near the .2 level.  Yes I read it.  I just made a assumption, it appears my assumption of  BM1384 chips was wrong.

Anyways happy mining to you.

np just wanted to make sure u replied since i have noticed people read a few posts and when they hit one disputing something another poster said or asking if its true they dont continue reading they just take that as being fact and spread wrong info so hopefully others will question y what i mentioned wasnt provided but promised and since its not provided y wasnt some sort of compensation given to those that purchased the miner (in my case at 100+ more then the current price because it was batch #2 directly from bitmain) based on false untested claims that were later found to be lies and were silently changed. it was so silent that up until the 29th of march i had no effin clue about the change. i read that maybe a firmware update will allow better functionality for under volting them down to 9v because as they sit they dont unde rvolt at all reallyand any changes below 12v make the miner act all sketch causing mining issues or the controller wont detect the boards at all so i emailed them asking what the exact model 9v 10a psu was used so i can try it out myself with the same hardware they used to test it but sure enough i soon found out that they didnt actually test their bold ass claims. sure i wont run at 9v right now because .5w per gh/s is fine for many people but when the diff gets higher or electricity costs go up then undervolting was supposed to be there to allow us to run them at a much higher efficiency rating so they can be in service longer then they would be if they couldnt be under volted but all in all i know i cant be the only person that saw those numbers and was thinking exactly what i stated above....no one likes buying new hardware....especially when their current hardware never hit a roi point so even at a slightly higher cost we were suppose to be able to basically hit or get much closer to the roi point if the diff started going up by leaps and bounds like it has in the past now we are stuck with once .5w per gh/s isnt worth it anymore we have to sell these and start all over again with new miners....i wonder y they havent replied to this thread yet.....probably the same reason this threads op didnt reply to my pm when i got my s5 and had problems seeing the "quietness" of the miners.....sad.

Who promised you quiet and the .2X per GHs.  Was it from a third party and not Bitmain?

I just find it hard to believe they would promise .2X per GHs out of a S5.

lol really?? did u even read my whole post?? if u had read it u would know but let me copy and paste the info for you provided BY BITMAIN NOT BY A THIRD PARTY:

"Notes
1.   Power consumption figures vary with your PSU’s efficiency, the ambient operating temperature and the accuracy of the power meter.
2.   PSU: A power supply unit is not included, and you will need to provide an ATX PSU. There are 4 PCI-e connectors for +12V DC input and all four are required. Do not connect more than one PSU to the same hashing board.
3.   When better power efficiency is needed in the future due to higher network difficulties, you may want to buy some special PSUs 9V DC with more than 10A output, which will allow you to have a 0.2J/GH mining efficiency, but at lower hashing speed. "

if you look at the thread announcing the s5 u will see they crossed it out but its still there and was there for more then half the batches they sold already. hell bitmain still says this miner is cool and quiet so did u just reply because u saw this thread at the top of the list?? next time dont try makin me sound like idk what i paid for.....if u cross reffed my claims u would have seen exactly what im talking about.

first email reply from bitmain (mar 30th):

"Hi,
for S5, Input voltage should not be less than 12.00V, since it is based on serial power solution and there is no DC/DC inside the miner. Higher input voltage will cause higher mining efficiency.
And it cannot work well with 9V or 10V."

second email reply from bitmain (mar 30th):

"sHi,
Sorry for the inconvenience.
After double checking, we confirm the S5 cannot work well with 9V, so we crossed out this description."

third email reply from bitmain (mar 31st and once i replied they went dead silent refusing the resolve this situation):

"Hi,
We have correct it immediate after we get the info, it has been a long time now.
Once the miner can work well with 12V, no need to worry about it.
Thanks."

they didnt fix it immediately and they didnt say it "might" work with lower voltages but we arent sure.....they made a claim based on zero testing it seems which they should provide compensation for. not only to me but to every other person that ordered up until they made the change which wasnt "right after" like the rep said. releasing products using false and untested claims isnt legal and is morally wrong!

272  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: 18TH Package Price Check on: March 30, 2015, 06:37:32 PM
the seller is makin out big time if u pay that much lol. the retail price for the machines is:

sp20's = $2000 + free shipping when they were sold
s5's = $1360 + shipping but dont expect that to be more then a couple hundred bucks tops
2x neptunes = as low as $550 plus some for shipping but lets round it up to $700 each just in case so $1400

now with all that included the total is about $4740 in retail value and in current average sale value give or take a few hundred either way but do u really think server psu's and pci-e cabled are worth $3760?? i make my own pci-e cabled for a couple of bucks a pop max using 16awg wire so i know thats not the major chunk of cash but you can even buy them pre made if you rather not make your own. i know the server psu's themselves arent worth that much extra either....you can buy full retail psus brand new factory sealed that require no modding to be done for the same price lol. the dps-1200fb psus cost $25 bucks and you can pickup the resistor needed to power them on in bulk for under $5 so if this isnt ur purchase tell ur friend to rethink making it otherwise i suggest u not spend ur money on this so called package deal....its just someone selling old stock before new stock comes out and the old stock prices drop and they become somewhat useless after a bit.....good luck

Buy 3 and I'll ship (within the US) for free.  Grin

what is the power consumption of each one?? i guess send me the consumption of one with a working fan so i have correct numbers. i coulda sworn i saw something about it being .5w per gh or somewhat lower then that but when i looked on their site the numbers were much higher at .7-.8w per gh which is weird because they claim its a top contender for efficient mining which is deff a lie and has been long before they actually started shipping them so do urs have numbers around the first set or around the second set??

If you underclock them they get 0.5w/GH but then they only get about 450gh/s each. They also don't get hot like that. This is how I'm running them now, but I need to make room for faster equipment.

how many r u lookin to sell and if i buy them all can we work something out on the price?? cause at $250 each i wont break even at .13 per kw/h for 453 days if the diff stays right where it is now and if the hardware lasts that long. i m in the us though if that helps at all.

I still havent seen one person with one of these peoples miners and if that wasnt bad enough they sell hashfast boards with power specs that are not able to be achieved?? They dont reply to multiple emails (at least none of the ones i have sent) and promote hardware with incorrect specs so y is ne one giving them money at all?? They said their yoli boards get 650gh/s using 550w each which i havent found to be tue at all lol. I changed the voltage and freq in over a hundred different combos on 10 different boards and never got lower then .93w per gig and that wasnt ne where near 650gh/s....if their miners r usin hashfast boards they cant get those numbers they posted a while back.

Not tryin to be a dick just tryin to inform u of ur machines price. I had a bunch of these i sold locally on clist that came in on pallets and that was about 6 months ago and i charged $650 each and those were with very minor to no wear on the machine at all. On ebay the completed prices range from 510- just under $600 so if you are truely interested in selling ur price will probably have to go down a bit. U can verify my numbers if u want and i actually encourage it just because its one thing for me to tell u it but its another to see what others were able to sell their ls for. Just be sire to look at the sold machines not the ones people asked $1500 for but no one was interested in paying that much for.

Ik u said u paid $1300 a year ago and less then half seems odd but its not a mac that holds its value and also u must have paid $1300 retail cause thats wayyyyy overprices for a laptop with a 270 video card. I have an old asus core 2 duo machine with a 270 video card lol and thats only worth about $150 in its current condition and deff not considered a gaming laptop.

U might be better off selling locally to maximize your earnings otherwise u wont get anywhere near $850 for it.

here is the ASICMINER empty office:

they moved out from Feb 12nd.

Lol idk about u but if i were there i woulda taken those chairs. We have 3 of those in the it office and when i looked up prices after seeing one in a sharper image window at the mall i found out those darn things cost an upwards of $1500 each if u get the lumbar inserts for ur back and add adjustable arm rests lol but they just left them behind i guess. Maybe they were cheap knockoffs?? Lol even fake ones are hundreds of bucks in the us depending on the quality but if they r real go take em before they get trashed or gifted to someone else lol.
