I mined ~9000SPR so far and last 3 days I wanted to buy as much as I could while price was 30k but I got all my BTC stuck at god forsaken Bitstamp  Cry
Damn you Bitstamp!!!

Hey, arnt you the guy i spoke with about mining SPR, and then you went on to mine the coin i told you about? HA!

Nice stash btw!

Tnx, I was allready mining it when we spoke Grin

Are you getting anywhere near the 0.09 Per day you expected? More?

with current price around 0.125 BTC/say

Nice 1! Good to see a miner in profit!

Guys i don't mean to ruin your party but wouldn't NOT setting a limit for SPR to have a masternodes be a detriment to the network?

I mean with DRK coin masternodes are easy, you have 1000 coins and you have a masternode, combined with everyone you have a total of say 1500-2000 masternodes on the whole network. With SPR's solution you may have waaaaay less masternodes say if you require 2500+ SPR to be on the masternode list. So what i'm saying is wouldn't there more likely be less masternodes therefore less decentralisation?

I guess there could be a hard limit on minimum and maximum number of masternodes to avoid this?

Please advise if i am way off.

If we start at 1SPR min and 100,000SPR max over time MN owners would increase there masternode balance to be more competitive. So say 100,000 people put up 100,000 masternodes, with 1 SPR per masternode. If 50% of those owners put another 1SPR in their MN balance the network would kick the MN's only holding 1SPR, reducing decentralization to only 50,000 MN. That's not really a bad thing as 50,000 MN remain. Also this coin is quite hard (will become) even harder to accumulate. It has extremely good distribution, lowering the chance of centralization.
Large holders will now see huge ROI and will slowly dump over time, again reducing centralization.

I doubt one person would try to dominate a system which is reliant on decentralization. Althogh how many MN count as  decentralized is subjective.

For me as a software developer / artist, I would love the ability of someone sending me money anonymously, and me sending him information back (e.g. serial number, download link, whatever) to his wallet.
Without him having to give me ANY ADDITIONAL information whatsoever.

Mr.Spread just explained a few posts earlier that this can't work like that, you need to broadcast atleast SOMETHING additional, your address will not suffice.
It can work by broadcasting this additional information but this will require some additional actions from those who will want to receive messages, what you want is simpler though, by signing transaction you make your public key known, this should be enough to encrypt a message. But some people may send you money not from the wallet but from an exchange which will probably just ignore such messages.

If you could pull that off i would be personally overwhelmed. Digital cash must have an equally anonymous (optional) way to send a msg.

It's naive to think we can use ecash over the internet now and stay anon. If you want to buy a laptop with "Spreadsend"or"Darksend" you have to input your personal details over the internet, which then tells the world your address, name, payment method.

We shouldn't underestimate the importance of an encrypted msg attached to a transaction.

If this is to be done, after "Spreadsend" is implemented would be perfect!

Someone can now buy around 32000 SPR with 14BTC and only take the price to 0.0005.

There's that liquidity the big boys where after.
1210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 07, 2015, 05:49:08 PM
Was there ever any tentative scheduling for masternode release from Mr. Spread?  I'm pretty sure the implementation is no walk in the park, but trying to get the word out with all the nefarious activities surrounding cryptos in general is becoming more difficult.

Mr Spread said

I have optimized synchronization code, next version will sync much faster.

DarkCoin code is pretty complicated, sometimes for no reason (if you are interested I can point you to examples). I want to make simpler and cleaner implementation which is easier to understand and easier to done right. I will prioritize instant transactions over anonymity since they are simpler to implement and I think they are useful for more people than DarkSend.
After new year I will have hell of a lot of free time, so I hope in the second half of January we will have some code for public testing, maybe sooner.

Instantx needs masternodes to work, so id give it a month or so before we see masternodes (being conservative).
1211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 07, 2015, 01:37:20 PM
Do we know when is the SPR masternode implementation and what will be the ROI? I want to invest more but obviously first I need to know what the ROI will be.
Currently the darkcoin masternodes get paid ~0.7 drk each day. But that's with 1100 masternodes. Anyway with the cheapest vps from www.bitcoincloud.eu which is ~0.03 btc you can make ~0.03 btc profit each month. According to my calculations. Feel free to correct me.

With spreadcoin i'm sure we'll be making much more in the first few months.

Darkcoin is has around 1650 masternodes!

The reward is 0.60DRK per day.

I'm a masternode operator, and i have never been ddos'ed.
As far as I'm aware its one for one, so one MN = one instance.

1000SPR = $5 instance cost (VULTR).

500 SPR masternodes at 50% block reward = 5000 SPR distributed among MN owners per day.
5000 % 500 = 10SPR per MN per day.
Say the price of SPR is x2 @ 0.00075, thats 0.0075/$2 a day per masternode.

http://spreadcoin.net/explorer/Sfxc14Aj5FHA7cwLqxZyMxdus5CgVxr9Mw
This guy got another 200+ blocks in the past 1,000 or so.
He's not mining to the address but rather consolidates to the address every 24 or so hours.
He's also increased his blocks at a ridiculous rate. Just 6% of total a couple days ago. 20%+ today.

This might be what happens when rentable mining rigs and pools are out of the picture... One guy with a GPU farm can easily take over.

That's a problem with small valued coins, not with solo mining.

As the coin gains value (as it has) the hashrate will grow (as it has), this guy will be smallfish in two months.
1213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 06, 2015, 04:49:48 PM
I'll put a 300 SPR bounty on a miners hash chart.

Here is 2 miners chart: http://104.36.83.126/spreadcoin/
  • network hashrate
  • top miners pie chart (>1000 mined coins)

Great Graphics!  Cool

The hashrate is running along a nice long term line!

Ahh.. the good ole "diff 17" days.. Tongue

@ Mr.Spread
How do you plan to handle the intensity and other single/multi gpu configs and settings ?

I have some tips if you're willing to include a Win7 mining tweaks/ guide. eg. How to's on, disabling media player/ internet browser hardware acceleration, driver updates, ect.

The best way to achive a high level of decentralization would be to win over the single gpu/cpu users/newbies by making their involvement as seamless and as hassle free as possible. If successful, the swarm will leave the privkey whales with little to no WUs to feed on.

Poor whale...  Wink

Hm, so the ultimate goal would be to have GPU mining directly from within the wallet, right?
No external tools and conf file tweaking...
Maybe have the wallet automatically detect if GPU is compatible and let the user simply click a button.

Use CPU (x) --- Threads 1/2/3/4

Use GPU (x) --- Threads x/y/z etc

START MINING

That would rid the need for comprehensive mining guides.

The wallet automatically recognizes your cpu, why not gpu?

@georgem:

Masternodes are what give Darkcoin it's utility, and therefore value. I'm all for keeping things simple, but you need a certain amount of infrastructure to get anything useful done.

About messaging in wallet - Masternodes would make this pretty simple, but it's pretty simple anyway. I wrote a little encrypted p2p chat bolt-on for my Darkcoin Simple Wallet that used one of my Masternodes as a key store (address book basically) - it was pretty straightforward. I never took it too far though because extremely simple was all it had to be, send a short txt message to a given address. I didn't and don't want a full blown IRC/jabber/skype/etc. client bloating up my wallet and bringing untold vulnerabilities to my ecash.

There are dozens of coins with in-wallet messaging and a hundred ways of doing it, Mr Spread could probably have it integrated in a day or two... but I hope he will keep Masternodes the priority. They really are an excellent technical and economic innovation, the n-of-m structure avoids centralisation of any service provision and makes them extremely attack resilient.

Anyway, very glad to have you here chucking ideas about!  Smiley

edit: How about we drop the 'coin' bit, just Spread?

Yes, i remember some scam P&D coin with a message system that could facilitate jpgs lol.

Not interested, i just want a simple few lines (enough for my address) that i can add to a transaction, that's it.

But SPR needs masternodes to be able to even contemplate anon transactions.

So masternodes 1st Mr, please  Grin.

Found 2 more blocks today, so I've got 4 in 72 hours of mining. 1 per 18 hours. 950 kh/s avg hash speed here.

Trying hard to find a rig-renting website which does solo mining but it doesn't seem to exist so perhaps I should just buy more SPR instead.
JL

I found a guy to mine spr, i think he had about 80mh? But once i told him about spr he just went on to mine it on his own lol.

The cost was higher than normal x11 too.
1217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 06, 2015, 01:52:24 AM
Forget masternodes... (doesn't requiremenet of 1000 DRK etc lead to just another form of centralization?)

What if EVERY SINGLE spreadcoin wallet would act as message node? For free?

IMHO, spreadcoin shouldn't even try to go for anonymous mixing methods and stuff... don't copy darkcoin.
Just do one thing only: spreading the sprevolution.
Let's concentrate on keeping the coin very solo-mineable and let's introduce an encrypted pseudoanonymous messaging service (pseudoanonymous as in: you don't know WHAT the message is, but you could probably find out to what address it was sent).

This is spreadcoin, it should not walk in the shadow of darkcoin.  Smiley

Critical app + sound business acumen + good marketing + gung ho community = billion dollar coin.

Someone has to.  Why not Spreadcoin?

I agree, masternode implementation is number one priority.

I hope MrSpread comes out with a write up on where SPR is going before he drops it.
1218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][SPR] SpreadCoin | True Decentralization (No Pools) on: January 06, 2015, 01:44:32 AM
That's a bit silly since you'd be downloading lots of mb's of messages but not storing them.

But that's the point.
The blockchain needs storing.
The messages don't!
(the "message blocks" (containing the messages each pointing to the transactions contained in the blockchain blocks of every minute) could be stored in the data folder temporarily, and deleted after a while)

Humm, i dunno.

Couldn't masternodes or instantx provide this service?

I know the anonymization is done prier to you sending the coins, but couldn't you have a set file on your end that has your home address say, and when you anonymize coins you can select coins to have that file attached?

This would allow you to mix coins with your home address ready, you can then select those coins with the address attached for when you want to buy something.

Would this compromise anon tho...

Since there are so many from the DRK community here, just curious what % SPR represents your total crypto holdings and what % remains with DRK?

For me it's about 10% in SPR and XCP and then 80% in DRK still.
I'm trying to get an idea on how much short-term upside to expect here from DRK folks converting over here little by little as they discover SPR.

JL

I'm currently speculating heavily that SPR WILL implement Darksend/Masternodes.

I'm at 50/50 SPR/DRK.

I wouldn't expect other darkcoiners to be so inclined as to drop 50% of their crypto holdings on SPR just yet.

But you gotta get in early, take the risks to have success.
