401  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 21 Bitcoin Computer or Cloud Mining Website ? on: September 22, 2015, 01:02:50 AM
I'd definitely choose the 21 comp over paying for hashrate.
The 21 computer could let you run a full node for your website instead of having to pay for a digitalocean server.
It can also mine a tiny bit of bitcoins. And then when your all done with it you could sell it as a novelty or even collector item.
Way more options with the 21 bitcoin computer than hashrate.
402  Other / Off-topic / Re: How hard is to be the anonymous owner of a website? on: September 21, 2015, 03:51:33 AM
Found here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=103369.0.

bitcoin.org was originally owned by Satoshi. He registered it through https://www.anonymousspeech.com

The website theymos mentioned provide anonymous domain registration and hosting. Another plus is that it also provide anonymous email.
An anonymous hosting service that allows you to register under a pseudonym and without providing a postal address Huh

Only thing needed for perfection would be payment in BTC.

Also a hidden service would be an option, but would only accessible using Tor

I dont know if they have a Tor-based website but I do know that they accept Bitcoin. If you look at the right sidebar, there is an update which titled "Bitcoin Payments".

From here, https://www.anonymousspeech.com/anonymous_payment.aspx#bitcoin.

Quote
AnonymousSpeech.com recommends Bitcoin payments. If you do not have Bitcoins yet you can purchase them here. We also offer an additional 5% discount for all payments done in Bitcoin.

Once you are using Bitcoin we guarantee you will love it! Fast, secure, and no fees at all. We know that it takes time for this mindshift for each and one of our customers, but once you have done it you do not want to switch back, ever!!!
very interesting... so having a website with them using TOR to access the site and using BTC would be sufficient ?

Rates for an anonymous site are pretty expensive.
40 EUR for a dot com domain
30 EUR for shared-linux server per month!  No DDOS protectoin and only 1 SQL database.
Yikes!
403  Economy / Goods / Re: Anyone Know of a Place to Buy Hoverboards With BTC? on: September 21, 2015, 01:35:24 AM

Well, they do exist, I saw tony hawk riding one.  But that was just to build up hype, the governor's there is still a prototype I believe

Yea, the hendo, I've seen that one too. But as I mentioned in my initial reply they require special magnetic flooring tracks in order to work. They don't work anywhere except where the laid the special magnetic flooring.

Watch how they made the Lexus hoverboard and how it works:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvYUq6Ox0Hc
404  Economy / Goods / Re: Anyone Know of a Place to Buy Hoverboards With BTC? on: September 21, 2015, 01:14:54 AM
Hoverboards rely on set tracks currently and require a lot of liquid nitrogen to operate.
There was a cool video about the hoverboard made by Lexus for a car commercial, which I can't find right now...

Also interesting is the technology behind it quantum levitation https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=110&v=Ws6AAhTw7RA

Thanks for the really insightful post, but you completely missed the topic I asked in OP.

Try again please

Ok let me rephrase it for you.
Don't buy a hoverboard because they don't exist! Anyone claiming to have a real hoverboard that works is a scammer.

406  Economy / Investor-based games / Re: BitDubble.com - DOUBLE Your Bitcoins Easy Within 72 Hours **[PAYING!]** on: September 21, 2015, 12:49:24 AM
Have any of these investor based games ever turned out to be anything but a scam?
Not sure I understand the point of this sub-forum as it should be renamed from "investor based games" to "obvious scams".
407  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: September 20, 2015, 11:18:58 PM
does this look like a HEAD AND SHOULDERS pattern to anyone here?

No, way too much noise. This doesn't follow enough of the rules in TA to be a true head and shoulders.
408  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much do you think 1 Bitcoin will be worth in 2020? on: September 20, 2015, 10:31:30 PM
Good question!  The way it is now:  Grandma finds an object she really likes online but needs bitcoin to purchase it.  She downloads the bitcoin core wallet, waits several days for it to synchronize with the network, but in the middle of the synchronizing process, Microsoft decides it's time to restart the computer and install updates.  After the update, Grandma tries to open her bitcoin core wallet, which takes several minutes loading indexes and such, only to find that the windows install restart mandates that she has to resync her wallet from scratch, which takes a couple more days.  The wallet syncs and now she has to figure out where to get bitcoin.  She does some research to figure out the most honest site to pick up her coin.  She runs across articles on Mt. Gox, the silk road, and bitcointalk forum topics suggesting that everything's a scam, but she  finally decides to take a chance; though she's leery about linking her bank account, she decides to go thru circle or coinbase, which takes few more days to authorize. Her accounts link and she's finally able to purchases some bitcoin which she then sends to her wallet....Meanwhile, rumors of an imminent hard fork spook the market and her bitcoin loses a third of it's value.  She now doesn't have enough bitcoin to purchase her item so she returns to circle to purchase more bitcoin....etc.  Grandma. or any other technophobe, isn't going to go thru that.

So, by more accessible, I mean something a non-technical, non-mining, non-trading, type of individual can acquire with speed and efficiency.  There are a few alts out there, right now, that are already attempting to address some of those issues.  Some of the projects based on the Sunny King line of reasoning are beginning to take shape and could be candidates....some of the technology surrounding Ethereum...and supported platforms such as Dwolla...the list goes on....My point being, Bitcoin is perfect for traders, big mining institutions, the techno-savvy, and the elite group of market manipulators....but grandma can't stand it.  Bitcoin's issues with its image, its efficiency, and its non-consensual governance could retard it's potential progress....that's all I'm saying.  So, if another cryptographic technology with a friendlier image could move the blockchain in a more efficient manner...it will own the market by 2020 and bitcoin's value will reflect that dynamic.

The way it will be:  Grandma finds an object she really likes online but needs bitcoin to purchase it. JP Morgan, BofA, WellsFargo and paypal have all integrated bitcoin into their services to make send and receiving bitcoin easy. She clicks the bitcoin option and checks out. Viola!
409  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's the amount that every Bitcoiner should own ? on: September 20, 2015, 10:01:22 PM
21 BTC... and be one in a million. You can continue on from there, but for most of us, being one in a million in regards to BTC is a fantastic benchmark.

Depending on the individual income, i would say starting with 1BTC.
And then increase it until 10 BTC, then until 21 BTC as centauribit said.
The higher the amount that we hold the higher the risk is.

21 is too much for many people. Only hold as much as you can afford to lose. I don't think many people have $4,800 just lying around as extra money.

I still think that 1 is the magic number. It's very affordable right now to many people around the globe and when bitcoin takes off in 2, 5, 10 years one bitcoin could be worth a fortune.
410  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: What if i made a rotator with bot options..... on: September 20, 2015, 09:56:55 PM
What sort of "bot options" are you talking about?
A rotator that has built-in macros to solve captchas? I don't think it would work.
Also faucets survive on ads, and you only receive referral payments as long as the faucet is still alive. Creating a rotator that undermines the profit making of a faucet would not be in your best interest if you want to continue receiving referral payouts.
411  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hey all on: September 20, 2015, 09:39:30 PM
Can't they just trace where the bitcoin go from the scammer and catch them when they withdraw back to their bank through coinbase?
Thanks for the tips guys, I will just leave my bitcoin safely with coinbase.

Yea you can try to follow where the outputs go, but it would be difficult. A lot of scammers will start splitting it up among multiple addresses to make it difficult to trace. Also they use "mixers" which can clean coins (it's essentially money laundering for bitcoins). Or people will use the stolen coins to invest in altcoins and then trade them back in later for clean bitcoins. Scammers will also sell on the street or through other services, not everyone uses Coinbase.
412  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi is back ? on: September 20, 2015, 09:34:26 PM
No. Why does everyone keep assuming that so many things have to do with satoshi? How about you do some research before actually making yet another useless thread on this forum?
This took me about ~1 minute to find.

Some people knew about Bitcoin in 2009. You can close the thread since I've answered your question, unless you want people to spam it with useless replies.

I hope to be like this and freak everyone out in 20 years when I move my cold storage coins.  Cheesy Cheesy

How many people from today will still be bitcoiners in 20 years? I'd say very few.
413  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you holding your bitcoin for a price increase? on: September 20, 2015, 09:30:06 PM
The price increase is practically guaranteed, just a matter of when. I'm holding my bitcoin for the long haul. I want to be a part of the new financial world that will be created around bitcoin.
414  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: hey all on: September 20, 2015, 09:24:37 PM
Welcome to bitcointalk!
There is a lot to learn here so you have come to the right place.
As for the gambling stuff, be wary of putting your money anywhere that is not in your control. There are a lot of scammers out there and you never know when someone might close their site and run off with all the coins. So if you do decide to play those games, only play with very small amounts that you wouldn't mind losing.
415  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Do you still really use faucet? on: September 20, 2015, 04:48:23 AM
Faucets are good for the owners and the users. There are some scam owners that make the claim buttons impossible, and too many ads. Some even have high risk ads that can cause malware. I'm running two faucets now.

Yes you re right, even some faucets ask you to resolve more than captcha and "i'm not robot" and so on, and then you can't find the "claim" button. They re scammers.

By the way can you give me the address of your faucets PM if not allowed in public ?

Since this thread is in the micro earnings section and you requested it, I don't see why it would not be allowed.

Coinables, i have to say your faucet i enjoy every time i use it. Smiley

Thanks Gifted! That's very nice of you to say. I try to create usable friendly sites and making them unique and different from all the others.
417  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks' own Blockchain? on: September 20, 2015, 01:36:14 AM
Banks talking about blockchains are always the same thing. They want to create private blockchains which is another way of saying they want to create shared databases.

One coin will be worth a few thousand dollars in 2020. If bitcoin succeeds it could be worth a million dollars, but I don't expect that by 2020.
420  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you holding your bitcoin for a price increase? on: September 20, 2015, 01:30:23 AM
Holding forever. Bitcoin is not going anywhere. It's a going to be a revolution in the financial world. We haven't seen a country currency crisis since bitcoin existed and it will be interested to see what happens with bitcoin on the next currency crisis.
