281  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price climbing fast again on: March 04, 2017, 11:43:30 PM
It sems to me that we currently wait for the ETF @ 11/3 (13/3) and till that date people will keep on buying (I do that).
A few days before you may see the price go back down again, because people (me too) will start selling off in small batches.

I think the 11th is the final day to take a decision on your gamble. Do you want to sell or do you want to hold? you must be quick and decide.

But don't forget that insider trading is possible, so we may see big pockets taking decisions before we do, which means we are fucked if we are on the wrong side.
282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ok, effected by block size for first time, time to fix on: March 04, 2017, 07:15:12 PM
So as a legit customer, for the first time I was effected by the BSU (blocksize issue) I paid the fee, and it still did not go through the fee was

This sh*t has to be fixed up and soon. Also I feel segwit seems to not go far enough as to size.

Why are we using a block size that is years out of date given the demand and tech?

I jsut don't get how the miners cannot see this will delay/hamper BTC growth.

Apparently people don't care since the price keeps going up, which means bitcoin is valued as digital gold over digital currency.

If you want bitcoin to scale, blame the miners to not activate segwit.

Only segwit and LN can give you the fast, instant, cheap performance you want. Onchain scaling will never deliver that, it will remain a better gold without LN and segwit, so before complaining about "BSU" again, think.
283  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 04, 2017, 05:27:46 PM
My bet is ETF does not go thru. But most folk imho expect that. Thus again imho
It will drop $900 to $1000 at most and climb back up within a month.

Will have 5k to buy more about that time maybe.

If etf goes thru will still
Need to buy fast before on hell of a rise imho

So it's all 😊 Good!

What makes you think that? Im not sure what to do. I don't want to sell, only to wake up at the ETF having passed and feeling suicidal as the price goes into deep into the unknown space, and meanwhile all im holding is useless fiat trash.

I can't know what to do, because there is no way to know what will happen.

Odds are useless, anyone that saw Brexit happen and Trump becoming the president of the United States should know this already.
284  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 04, 2017, 04:36:18 PM
Did this cause the crash?
http://www.heybtc.com/u-s-federal-reserve-official-warns-the-risks-of-bitcoin/

China says this 10 times a day so its not going to matter obviously. Just very interesting.

Oh fucking christ. So that was it? Just another old grey haired rich cunt in the bankster sector warning us how bitcoin is very scary when it is solidly growing? Fucking bastards. Just another PBOC American edition. Those guys need to be shoot in the head, always ruining every uptrend.

Lets hope panic selling morons don't buy for this one again, we were so close to hit $1300+ god damnit.
285  Economy / Speculation / Re: POLL: Net worth tolerance for Bitcoin? on: March 04, 2017, 04:22:35 PM
Im about 60% bitcoin right now, and I will keep increasing my bitcoin exposure in my portfolio as I convert more USD into BTC.
The remaining 40% of my portfolio is money in the bank, a small % of random alts I mined worth like 60 bucks at best, that's about it.
I hold no stocks no oil and no gold, im done with that shit.
286  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is Paul Krugman pissed when someone mentions Bitcoin ? on: March 04, 2017, 03:10:41 PM
He is part of the fiat bankster inner circle, of course that bitcoin is going to make him uncomfortable, bitcoin destroys everything that these fucking criminals represent, bitcoin is the nightmare that makes all the control freaks lose sleep at night.

Paul Krugman is an idiot that will get destroyed by the bitcoin supremacy.
287  Economy / Economics / Re: bitcoin ETF announcement March 11 what do you expect? on: March 04, 2017, 12:30:08 AM
A lot of threads that are coming out and curious with the ETF approval. But a few more days to go and well see what will be the result. But there's just one thing that I want to happen, whatever would be the result of it. It's price should keep remain on the $1,200 mark. And many are saying that if it will be approved, the price will increase.

It will probably question is how much. I think it depends on underlying implications. ETF is kind of derivative if I understood correctly. I  wish there is an future/option trading for btc. Well there is but that exchange topped the gain at 80%

Some people are scared about the ETF being a double edged sword because it may pose risk to start fractional banking, and then we would see the same problem we see with fiat..

But as far as I know, COIN shares will be correlated with blockchain transactions so there is no way for "new coins" to be created out of thin air.
288  Economy / Speculation / Looks like we are going to test $1,300+ on: March 03, 2017, 11:32:56 PM
Bitstamp tested $1298 some hours ago. Interestingly for some reason, it's higher than the Bitfinex peak at $1294 (bitfinex always has the higher price for some reason)

In any case, looks like we will test the barrier again, we'll see what happens.
289  Economy / Economics / Re: Snapchat IPO being offered to the publlic right now! You think it will be succes on: March 03, 2017, 11:09:13 PM
Snapchat stock opened at $17.

Its at $27 now.

I think most of its investment is coming from media groups looking to centralize and consolidate.

If not for that, I doubt snapchat's stock would be worth anything.

Very strange. We will see how it plays out. Facebook did good too, but Twitter is doing bad... why? I dont know. I think twitter is bigger than facebook nowadays. Stocks seem so fucking random, specially when it comes to social media related stocks.

I think snapchat will be like your average pump and dump altcoin..
290  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin at $1050.. China "inspection" has to be coming. on: March 03, 2017, 07:18:39 PM
forget about China inspection now, price broke the $1100 resistance.
China and their public bank and what it says has started to get less and less importance, they are out of the game and even if they weren't the FUD of an "inspection" can not last forever, you can only use the same approach for FUD a couple of limited times not forever!
and right now we are on the rise and nobody talks about the inspection. and inspection is in progress

The price is already $1298. I think the influences by the Chinese are getting less and less as time goes on.

Right now the demand is purely coming from western exchanges. I am quite satisfied with how the PBOC broke down the leading role of Chinese exchanges. It was all hot air that right now clearly has vanished. Remember how much FUD was coming from China, which time on time again caused the market to go South heavily? It feels good seeing that China is losing its significance in Bitcoin trading. They don't contribute, but just take and destroy. Reckless gamblers are they.

OTC trading for the chinese dollar is at all time highs, localbitcoin is getting used to replace the frozen exchanges, but indeed, we no longer depend on chinese traders which is good news, they got the mining monopoly, we can't let them any monopoly on anything else.
291  Economy / Speculation / Re: Pessimist's Exponent on: March 03, 2017, 06:10:08 PM
Hopefully, the craziness of 2013/2014 is behind us.

Last 2 years is a long enough and quiet enough period that we could start looking for patterns.

Bitcoin will grow exponentially, the marketcap is still tiny compared to any serious big company, so we are going to experience massive price increases, but the volatility of the 2013 is over, but that does not mean a pump to $5,000 with a correction of $3,000 isn't possible, but as you can see in terms of % is not as brutal of a correction as $1163 to $100.
292  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitfinex: Short > Long positions (Will end violently) on: March 03, 2017, 04:49:16 PM
Current Price BFX $1281.   Shocked

Update: At $1040, we had more Shorts > Longs positions at BFX.  We exploded.  Again, to kick off March we are now at that same ratio of more Shorts > Longs.

Shorts will buy up any dip just to escape, considering that 99% of them are under water with huge anxiety at this time.

Shorts lost their pants, I tried to warn everyone, most didn't listen, they thought bitcoin wouldn't be $1,000+ for a long time, and we are going to see shorts being cancelled as bitcoin marches towards $1,300+

I think we are going to see a lot of people at the verge of suicide. Shorters are often gambling addicts, they can potentially end up in debt. Why can't they just buy and hold?
293  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price on 13 March 2017 on: March 03, 2017, 04:25:28 PM
I voted for option 1300-1400$ simply because we are now very close to 1300$ and currently there is no reason that this slow growth will not continue in the next ten days.It seems that ETF can play an important role in determining prices after March 13. taking into account whether they will be accepted or not.

However, it is possible that even a negative outcome will not too much shake the market, but bitcoin always reacts on the majority of the good or bad news and is a very large probability that there will be a correction in price.

It's clear that there is a lot of hype vested in the ETF, so we are yet to see what the consequences are in case there is not an ETF approval.

I think the higher we go, the better, because in case the ETF is no approved, we can fall back into a higher price. It is key that we stay above $1000.

But man... if the ETF passes and you sell, you will wake up depressed to see the price into Jupiter.

I confess I have no idea what to do.
294  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold Price Parity Watch on: March 03, 2017, 12:11:08 AM
Time for a update bump ... now within ~$25 of grabbing the golden ring  Grin (we have have even kissed it sometime this morning when BTC spiked and XAU dumped)

Crossing the gold price is a major psychological barrier.

Interesting times...

Indeed, and now that we have finally crossed it, an interesting statistic to keep track off would be the amount of days that we stay above the gold price.

We used to talk a couple days ago how an interesting statistic was to keep track of days above 1000, now we should count this too, until it becomes the next normal.
295  Economy / Economics / Re: Soo, I'm planning on buying €1000 in bitcoins. Yes or no? on: March 02, 2017, 10:49:37 PM
For me, this is kind of a huge investment, but should I actually do it?

What are the risks of doing this?

I hope you actually took the plunge and did the investment, you would be up for more than double the money. So here you have it, that was an easy way to double your money. Often people ask "how do I double my bitcoins?" this was yet another demonstration of buy bitcoin and hold until it doubles. I just hope you don't sell yet, big things to come into the future.
296  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is this a REAL Bitcoin bubble? on: March 02, 2017, 06:45:15 PM
Compare the angle that goes from $85 to the $1163 peak then the angle that goes from $152 to the current ATH peak. You can do it yourself in bitcoinwisdom.com thanks to the nice lines it has. Now you will see that the current rise is very reasoanble and we are not still yet in bubble territory.

Bitcoin marketcap is still tiny, if real big pockets jump in we would see $10,000 in no time, then you can consider that a bubble.
297  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin has defeated gold on: March 02, 2017, 05:15:56 PM
Still less than a kilogram of gold.

Just another arbitrary number...

Not arbitrary at all. The oz is the universal measure of gold, and bitcoin has officially surpassed it. This is huge, all economic newspapers and websites will report on this.
Peter Schiff is up for  harsh awakening today.
298  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin has defeated gold on: March 02, 2017, 04:31:29 PM
Bitcoin: $1260/BTC
Gold: $1241/xau
Well, I can not believe that the Bitcoin prices has crossed over gold sooner than I expect. I thought the process would be finished in April. Wow, Bitcoin is truly worth and everyone who has sold their Bitcoin has made a huge mistake. Nothing can stop Bitcoin right now.

We have to either consolidate the price at $1250, or keep growing and the correct above $1250. Both scenarios are good since im just going to hold, there's no point in trying to gamble. I know a lot of people that have lost their positions at around $1100 because "it's crashing anytime now, this cannot be sustained". I told them they were idiots but they were really scared, bitcoin noobs.
299  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: BU's "honest miner" security model on: March 01, 2017, 06:02:30 PM
Well, the 21M coins or the "1001 other things" is not the issue of discussion here.

This idea that the BU security model is substantially different
from Bitcoin seems specious.  In BU, nodes can validate blocks
just as they can in Bitcoin, and simply ignore blocksize as one
less constraint for validity.  I don't see how this requires
more of a 'strong trust in miners.'

I guess it because it increase the resources needed to operate à node, bigger blocks = more bandwith, more disk space, more processing, which will tend to raise the cost of having full nodes,  and many things can increase very fast with the growing number of bigger tx,and lead toward centralisation to miners who are paid for it.

Increased resources to operate a node is one of the well known trade offs that come with bigger blocks in general; that doesn't mean BU operates under a different security model.

The direct result of increased resources in order to operate a full node is a tradeoff that we can't afford, since it attacks directly into the decentralization of the network. How in hell is that a good idea?

Im all for a 1MB increase along with segwit, but segwit should go first, then we can start adding more MB VERY conservatively and after studying what the impact would be.
300  Economy / Speculation / Re: best strategy right now : buy & hold + buy more VS buy & sell on: March 01, 2017, 04:16:26 PM
JBED: Just Buy Every Dip. It never falls to work. That is what I have been doing for years now, and bitcoin always ends up delivering bigger gains, it's really easy to make money with bitcoin, just buy and never sell, in 10 years you will be a boss.
