1061  Economy / Economics / Re: Litecoin revolutuionises - Bitcoin doesn't on: July 21, 2015, 05:53:43 PM
A revolution starting with bitcoin will be finished by litecoin

The revolutin is about who is in control in society, who has the money. Those ones who as humans excell in humanitarian skill like reading wriring long articlec and giving big speaches. Or thosse who can think and count and create systems and measure their working efficiency.

The main story beind bitcoin was that everybody could mine it wiht a simple computer that everybody had. But it turns out the algorithm it uses for the can very well be hardware accelerated and so on super computers got built by super wealthy people. Naturaly of the already rich people’s money, making them even richer… The technologists at the end who had low end computers did not gain much at the end.

Litecoin has a different algorithm for securing the transactions. It can not be optimised so well for super comuting and hence will leave the transactions' costs within the widely spread technical community. Making some possible disturbances in power  - up until to political levels.

Lately it is obviously no question who should lead a country: who work so much or talk so much!!! The ant or the grig...

This is delusional. If Litecoin took #1 spot and mining power shifted from BTC to LTC, soon the monopoly would be the same as it is in BTC.
Accumulation of wealth is unavoidable unless you artificially intervene on the development.
Basically, Bitcoin is #1 and things will never change, because it's good enough. Sorry to burst your alt-bubble.
1062  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Telegram now has an A.I. BOT called Julia who is your personal Bitcoin assistant. on: July 21, 2015, 05:50:00 PM
at some point these features will catch on like wildfire....it would be great if whats app could build such a feature.

...probably they will do that at some point  Cheesy

Indeed, whatsapp is huge, once it gets inside whatsapp, BTC will go viral as hell. What they should do actually is going decentralized, so they can avoid being spied on all over the place. Whatsapp right now is one of the less secure messaging options you can have. If it ran under the blockchain the problem would be solved.
1063  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Internet connection and bitcoin on: July 21, 2015, 05:48:25 PM
There are ways to use the blockchain through ancient SMS technology now. In the future big whale will launch their own internet satellites, basically floating bitcoin nodes in the space that travel around the world. After that, everyone will have access to the blockchain as long as you have something as cheap as an ancient nokia.
1064  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Brainwallet on: July 21, 2015, 05:46:13 PM
Everything I read suggests I use a random word generator...

Why is randomly picking words from a dictionary un advised?

The point of a BRAIN wallet is that you could, under any circumstances recover the wallet as long as the passphrase to generate the seed is inside your brain. This means that, if your pass it too complex its useless because you will forget it, if its too predictable its useless because you will lose it against a brute force attack of some sort. Randomly generated words are a good intermediate.
1065  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin, the Religion?! on: July 21, 2015, 05:41:18 PM
Religion : A bullshit fantasy story created to control the masses while keeping them from being afraid to die.

Bitcoin: A bullshit fantasy story created to control the masses while keeping them from being afraid to die.

No, it doesn't translate.

Both take faith into the future being positive, of course that our faith is based on objective optimistic indicators while religion is based only and only on non-reasonable beliefs.

PM when spots are open, I used to get good ratings in DaDice. Expect lots of people coming from DaDice, it was the best.
Are you considering upgrading rates to DaDice levels? (0.0013 instead of 0.0011.) Doing so you would have all the good posters on there.
1071  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When 21 million coins have been mined. on: July 12, 2015, 03:00:07 PM
The timeline that all coins are mined until 2150 or something can't be taken seriously in my opinion. We got moore's law, we got the human error related to forks and other elements like "cryptocurrency natural selection". However, if things continue like this, and intelligent decisions are made by the code authorities then bitcoin should rise and rise.

In any matter, bitcoin will go down in history as the kickstart of a paradigm shift. Few days ago I read that quote, dont remember where I got it from but it went like this: "In the old age we had unlimited money, but limited media. In the new age we got limited money and unlimited media. The right way around."

I think it's perfectly feasible. If new technologies that are better come, Bitcoin will assimilate them. Also, take into account that best doesn't mean winner. We've had ipv6 for years now, and ipv4 still resists and it seems we aren't changing anytime soon. It's all about good enough + network effect and Bitcoin is good enough and is king of network effect with the most powerful network on this planet. We'll easily see 100K in 10 to 20 years.
1072  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Best BTC wallet? on: July 12, 2015, 02:51:38 PM
Im still reping the good ol Core for security reasons, I was always scared to move them anywhere else. May start migrating to Bitcoin XT if the Core devs don't wake up and increase the blocksize already.
1073  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Over 200.000 transactions per day in the history of Bitcoin on: July 10, 2015, 04:18:47 PM
There should be a way to ignore dust transaction when it looks like an obvious spam attack, at least as a temporal fix before they implement a real fix like the LTC one, LN, blocksize increase... right now BTC is suffering by paralysis analysis.
1074  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Distribute bitcoin to every Greek citizen on: July 10, 2015, 04:16:49 PM
Why would anyone waste their money on Greeks anymore?

Bitcoin needs Greece, more than Greece needs Bitcoin.

Do you think that Greece will be an exception, and no other country is going to default on its debt? I don't think so. Several countries are going to follow the precedent set by Greece. And that is why Greece is important for us. If we can prove that Bitcoin can be used to help the Greeks, then imagine the acceptability we will get by the time of the second crisis.

No in the current state. The network is struggling with an ongoing attack, bring the Greek population in and we'll have some serious problems.
We need to fix the scalability problem before thinking about any of this, then we'll be ready.
Remember that BTC can only cope with 7 tx per second which is ridiculous to deal with a real economy.
1075  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BBC suggest bitcoin as "lesser of two evils" on: July 10, 2015, 04:14:40 PM
The BBC have a short 1 minute video and in it they discuss Greeks turning to bitcoin. I thought it was worth a share.

Check out the hoodlum figure they use to depict the bitcoin holder.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-33469259

I like all those good news stacking up, too bad the timming is really bad tho, with the ongoing attack if we have tons of people coming the network would struggle even more to keep processing transactions. We need a fix quick.
1076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Its time to jump ship w/ this BULLSHIT GOING ON!!! FUCK YOU CHINESE POOLS! on: July 10, 2015, 04:11:12 PM

WTF IS GOING ON?!?!?
There are 26k transactions in queue ... over 70MB mempool and the 3 largest pools are ignoring them entirely.
I hope all these get orphaned.
FUCK YOU CHINESE POOLS, fucking go rot in hell, thanks for ruining BTC along w/ ur spammy attacks.

This is great news, and shows Bitcoin's vulnerabilities.
Do you want Bitcoin to be a success? Then make it immune to such attacks, instead of being a crybaby. People with agendas exist in the real world, an attack would happen sooner or later. Do you think everyone would be nice with Bitcoin? lol. We have to make Bitcoin ready with a nice diamond armor to be able to resist any hits, we can't hope on the good will of human beings out there, that is just delusional. Its better than this happens now and not later when BTC is huge.
1077  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How bitcoin dev's are helping to kill bitcoin on: July 10, 2015, 04:08:21 PM
in other hand...you are still considering Bitcoin Core as Desktop application? Maybe something changed recently, but I still remember, that after each reboot was my 4 years old laptop ~30 minutes almost unusable, because core start syncing blocks from previous day and I didn't have SSD back in the time:)
Well you called out the reason there-- not having an SSD.  I run bitcoin core on a battery life optimized ultra light laptop and never notice it running.  That its a fine desktop application doesn't mean that it's super awesome on a 4 year old non-ssd enabled laptop. The much larger blocks these days do require more work to catch up on, but the software is also quite a bit faster.

Do you need to have an SSD that can store the entire blockchain to benefit, or you can have the software in SSD and the blockchain in a HDD and benefit?

I say this because SSD is way too expensive, and the blockchain is too big, in no time it will be way too big to store the entire blockchain in regular HDD; let alone the expensive SSDs..
1078  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: This could be bigger than the Greece bailout on: July 10, 2015, 04:04:10 PM
Voat has been down most of the time since the mass exodus. But yeah, losing 174 million unique visitors is rather huge.

I don't think all of them will move..

also, it seems now reddit is backpedaling and is looking into decentralizing it and running reddit under the bitcoin blockchain.

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/reddit-revolt-site-could-be-rebuilt-bitcoin-tech-blockchain-end-censorship-blackouts-1509710

In any scenario, it doesn't matter because Bitcoin always benefits.
1079  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Is Making Progress on: July 10, 2015, 03:51:54 PM
Due to the recent upward surge in the price of BTC Bitcoin has come under severe attack. The attacks are costing the attackers money but they're failing to shut down the network.

I'd like to report that in spite of the attacks transactions (with a reasonable miner fee) have been going through with no problems.

Those attacks will make bitcoin stronger only if we start taking action and adding fixes in the software, for starters, the one proposed by cobble which got rejected back in the day (thats why he basically created LTC).
Once we get this set and done, we can start raising the blocksize limit.
1080  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin goes to 1200-1300 within a month. on: July 09, 2015, 05:12:25 PM
well OP does have a point, the last 1200 was reached in few weeks, in a very short time, but it was triggered by a realistic thing that raised the influx of newcomers to a crazy level, and it was called Doge, it was basically the killer app that we are waiting now

greece is not comparable, is not something that would interest the entire world, and you need something like this to boost the price to 1200, or settle for a gradual increase...

This is the reason why you should never sell, or sell only what for specific purposes (you need to buy something or whatever) but your main stack should remain quiet. The price surges in BTC are unpredictable. We are at 270 now and tomorrow we could wake up at near 1K again, the market is still too small and it only takes a couple whales feeling like buying + a ton of people following them in a panic buy movement to drive the price to the sky.
