3081  Economy / Gambling / Re: Any more Skill-based services like this? on: December 02, 2015, 10:54:42 PM
I am really into gambling because it's fun to test your luck, but I have been playing that Battlecoin game, which is a game where you bet money and other players bet too and make a pot, then you play a match of Bomberman and winner takes it all. Are there are any other games like this that aren't 100% luck? Also what do you think of 100% luck games (pure gamble) vs skill based games? I just like some variety sometimes from dicing and casino type games.
Yeah, I've play the bomberman game where you will earn few satoshis when you kill player, iirc. It's so much fun, to be honest.
If you ask me, I'd choose to play skill-based games rather than luck games. Because I don't have luck in gambling...

I have been trying this Bomberman game lately, caution: It's highly addictive, and you think you may be losing less money than in a pure gambling site because it's skill based, but you actually end up losing more. There are really skilled people already that have played hundred of matches (you can check how many matches a person has played by clicking on the drawing/cartoon avatar think. If they are really good I would avoid playing against them until you are skilled yourself.
3082  Economy / Economics / Re: Passive Income on: December 02, 2015, 10:51:59 PM
my passive income is from signature campaign, through which i earn by posting it. with that income i play sports betting and earn some more i just keep the 50% of the income in my vault and when ever i feel bitcoin is low price i buy it and keep it for higher price sale. apart from that i work for real job that income is for my family that i dont distrub,

Posting in a signature campaign is not passive income. Passive means you aren't doing anything, yet you have money comming in. Signature campaigns require that you post pretty much daily and a high amount of posts if you want anything that resembles a income (which I find a waste of time if you have to post anything more than 10 posts a day). Example of passive income: Having ads in a website that generates new traffic endlessly and you always get some ad revenue monthly even if you don't even update it.
3083  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Someone called me who has 300 Casascius series 1 bitcoins to sell on: December 02, 2015, 10:48:48 PM
I guess from www.buyphysicalbitcoins.com I make them. But he never tried to scam me

But did he even have your phone to begin with?
This is why I never mix real life credentials to anything Bitcoin related. Always have it separated, create new addresses and so on. Even if im also pretty poor, I just don't want people to know I have a couple of Bitcoins because even if we know they will go high, we can't really yet fathom how high. If you mention you have some now, they may know years later you have millions in some USB at home.
3084  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hong Kong Conference!! on: December 02, 2015, 10:46:36 PM
I have just ran into an article:

http://www.coindesk.com/expectations-high-ahead-of-blocksize-debate-at-scaling-bitcoin-hong-kong/

Will anything be solved after this weekend? Is by any chance possible that we would come up with consensus after the weekend?

Share your thoughts guys!

I don't think any consensus will be meet, you just need to look at Reddit whenever someone starts talking about BIP101 or whatever. Needless to say, I hope BIP101 stays where it is now, which is as something marginal, just like XT. The guys pushing for something that will eventually centralized Bitcoin to datacenter levels are insane in my book.
3085  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A flaw in bitcoin, if it became widely adopted 21m bitcoins, 7b people on planet on: December 02, 2015, 10:44:39 PM
2,099,999,997,690,000... an insane number. Sorry if I seemed stupid it was a curious question and I do find that currently I need a minimum spend before one can send coins with the current wallet client... Id bet widespread adoption would change the whole dynamic of transaction fees and the like? Especially if people were not owning whole bitcoins, the transaction fee would become more noticeable and would need to be adjusted? Sorry if I seem dumb on this front its been a curious thing for me its a psychological thing about having 1 complete bitcoin, or is that just the way the wallet reads it out as in 1.xxxxxxxxxx so its kinda deceiving... Everyone only having 0.xxxxxxxxx would seem odd

Now you've explained that to be, so the actual form of the currency is measured in the smallest units, not the 'BTC' measurement which kinda was psychologically deceiving! Should have done the math and checked how many satoshis there could be : )

Jacob

It's indeed psychological, that's all. Other than that is a no-argument. People will use BTC for it's features, not because they can call what they are holding Bitcoins or satoshis. Most people use the dollar, even tho they will never see a million dollars on their bank accounts, this is the same, even if most people will never see 1 full BTC, they will still use it, because the features are exactly the same.
3086  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: paypal or bitcoin? on: December 02, 2015, 10:41:07 PM
Paypal, IMO, is terrible when regarding the charges that cost the customer if they agree to pay the fee to the business, or the other way around when the business accepts that it will lose some of that money when accepting over Paypal.

It's not only about the convenience of the transaction times or the charges that bitcoin or paypal issues upon any given transaction... Bitcoin is a revolutionary currency where there is only a fixed amount of coins that will never exceed 21 Million.  This is obviously a lot different from fiat, and because Paypal just transfers fiat digitally, makes it a lot different from Paypal.

Bitcoin cannot be properly compared to PayPal until we have a system like the Lightning Network up and running. Until then, Bitcoin will still be seen as a extremely robust form of money that replaces gold and not something you would use on the daily basis to buy good and services. I value my Bitcoin way too much for this so I tend to hold it, in the future I will use it more once its more common.
3087  Economy / Speculation / Re: $1200 before December 1 on: November 30, 2015, 07:21:55 PM
Price is still under 400$. Maybe December 2016 we can see 1200$ again. I'm waiting for that day.

By December 2016 a lot of new things will have happened and changed the game. We should have seen the first iterations of sidechains by then, and amazing features like the confidential transactions will be coming too, I have no doubts in my mind that we will be at 4 figures by December 2016 and with a solid price above the last ATH.
3088  Economy / Gambling / Re: Battlecoin.org - Multiplayer bomberman clone on: November 30, 2015, 07:17:27 PM
It's been a while since I played, loving the new sounds and music, it really adds to the atmosphere and now it feels more like playing an arcade game in a cabinet or at least in my old super Nintendo. It's really cool that in 2015 now we can play games of childhood again and bet internet currency with people from different countries. I would have never guessed this in a million years back then.

They have sounds now? thats awesome, will be trying some games later.  Looking forward to that pool game added :p

I just tried too and indeed they added sounds, the sounds where disabled by default by some strange reason tho... i had to click on the icon, its at the upper right, when you click you hear a sound of a bomb. The music was on by default but not the sound effects. Also the music stops playing after the first game I play, it's probably a bug.
3089  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling. Is It Wrong? on: November 30, 2015, 07:14:49 PM
Gambling is generally seen as something wrong by society because it's usually associated with people that has certain problems like ludopathy, which is unfortunate because people like me that enjoy the occasional gamble are affected by this stigma. Of course, I don't care what society says about it and do my thing, but the general notion is definitely very real.
3090  Other / Politics & Society / Re: is ISIS really using Bitcoin? on: November 30, 2015, 07:12:25 PM
The fact the mainstream media keeps talking about this nonsense prove how little they know about Bitcoin. It is way easier to get their illicit activities funded with cash rather than Bitcoin. First of all I doubt they know how to properly do the whole thing, which means proper knowledge of mixing, outputs and inputs, tor... it's really annoying, they get things easily done with their illegal oil and drugs business.
When have the mainstream media had an idea of what they're talking about  Cheesy

The thing with IS is that they probably think Bitcoin is some great evil because it comes from the west and uses the evil thing called the internet. There is so little evidence that IS can and is using Bitcoin that it is useless to speculate about it. They make enough money from oil and gold sales on the black market, so there's no reason for them to have to change.

What's even funnier is the fact that IF they are using Bitcoin (and if they are it's like 0.00000001% of their source of income) they are most likely using Tor and Tor was developed by US Army/intelligence department, so should the US Army/intelligence be blamed to be the inventors of what allows for Bitcoin to be more anonymous? Cheesy
3091  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If BTC makes it 10 years I think it would officially have "made it".. on: November 30, 2015, 06:57:18 PM
it's not about time only, it's about adoption, as i see it, if 1B people or 100M-1B people around the world begin to use bitcoin, we can say that bitcoin made it already, and it was a success otherwise not so much

i would say that it is remained a niche market

It only takes a small amount of people's wealth to be put into Bitcoin to start raising an alternative economy that will not be part of the actual GDP as seen by goverments, we can grow an entire alternative world of money. It takes a small % of every person using it to make the price go high as the sky, if you do the simple math you will see it. When it's all said and done it all comes down to supply and demand and supply will keep getting shorter as demand grows.
3092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how to translate bitcoin in russian cyrilic language? on: November 30, 2015, 06:32:36 PM
What are you talking about? Translating the actual world Bitcoin? If so, it would basically be still Bitcoin.. because there isn't a literally translation, thast why if you go to the subforums in for other languages, no one is translating Bitcoin and they just say literally Bitcoin, trying to translate it doesn't make sense.
3093  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if ... S. Nakamoto lost all priv. key and can't use "him" btc? on: November 30, 2015, 06:30:55 PM
This would be good because a single person wouldn't be anymore in possession of an huge amount of BTCs, which as far as im concerned he had around 1 million coins which is huge. Of course, this could also backfire and what you thought t was good it was bad, because an huge fiat wallet could become the biggest whale, and if I want to have a whale in Bitcoin then it's satoshi, which im sure he would be on our favor.

3095  Economy / Economics / Re: Anyone here part of "1 million club"? on: November 18, 2015, 03:34:21 PM
I have never mined a single Satoshi; it was too late to do it without considerable effort; not interested; good luck to all miners.  I do have a miner USB card but it runs hot and is hard to keep going.  I would rather solo mine and get nothing than pool.

I was given a physical Bitcoin as a gift; cost my son around $16 (worth over $300 at the moment); best gift I ever got; got me interested.

I purchased my Bitcoins through various exchanges; I am not revealing the total amount; sorry.

I invested in the SecondMarket Bitcoin Investment Trust (BIT) and it should soon achieve liquidity as GBTC via a standard retirement account at a standard brokerage firm.

Even today someone could come to Bitcoin for the first time and just buy 21 Bitcoins; *only* about $7k.

The fact that you already have to pay $7K to be part of this club already tells us something important: The initial investment is high enough so that it's extremely prohibitive to pretty much everyone who isn't already pretty wealthy. And even those at the upper class with good wealth, would be reticent to invest that much into BTC because they don't understand it and see it as very risky.

CEO Patrick Byrne has accumulated stash to 'survive three-month freeze'

The boss of online marketplace Overstock.com has revealed he has stashed away $10million in gold and silver in the Utah wilderness as part of a back-up plan to survive any collapse of the U.S. financial system.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3322446/Overstock-com-reveals-prepper-plan-Online-retailer-buried-10m-gold-silver-secret-Utah-hideaway-hoarded-food-case-world-financial-struck-disaster.html

So he digged a few holes in the desert of Utah to hide his precious metals there and is now shouting that out into the public?
If true that's not very smart. I already can see treasure hunters out there scanning the ground with their metal detectors. Cheesy

Yep this makes 0 sense. It's like getting all of your money in Bitcoin because you sense an imminent collapse and want to get your money out of the banks which will surely make your money disappear, and after you do this you say it all over the internet. Whats the point??
3097  Economy / Economics / Re: Do i need at least 1 BTC to invest in BTC Jam? on: November 18, 2015, 03:08:50 PM
One of the biggest points of Bitcoin is that you can make smaller transactions and do stuff with them, including loaning. "Microloans". If 1 BTC was the minimum it would make no sense. I have considered myself trying BTCJam but I always end up thinking that I am better off just holding than gambling with some guy in god knows where paying me back or running with the money.

http://www.bitcoinfuturesguide.com/bitcoin-blog/us-fincen-director-bitcoin-does-not-pose-higher-risk-of-terror-financing

Well I just saw this.

I don't think they will do anything about it, at least for now... Also before they get worried with Bitcoin they should ban cash. There were billions of dollars stolen for terrorism found in some bunker in

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/12/world/investigation-into-missing-iraqi-cash-ended-in-lebanon-bunker.html?_r=0

Bitcoin is not even 5 billion at current price.
3099  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you store your bitcoins ? on: November 18, 2015, 02:50:00 PM
Any suggestions on where a person who has already purchased bitcoins through Coinbase / circle should store them? I'm open to any suggestions from members. Thanks

I hold my Bitcoins in few places: Coinbase (but not much - just something like a reserve). My MultiBit desktop wallet (For use on a daily basis). Third place is just my wallet file that i have in 4 places - hard disk, two emails, pendrive and DVD Smiley

I feel safe Smiley

I think you should not store any relevant amount in any place that isn't a Local wallet. I would trust a Bitcoin Core running a full node in a secured computer as a good way to do long term storage while still being able to easily send and receive coins. Paper wallets are even more secure, but it's annoying if you want to create new coins addresses all the time and manage payments.
3100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's Fate In 2140 on: November 18, 2015, 02:42:51 PM
I think in 2140 there is no more bitcoin.

I believe other crypto currency or other technology can replace bitcoin in the future.

But it still adopt from the bitcoin, as bitcoin is the 'mother' of the current crypto currency.

Not necessarily. Bitcoin is programmable money, therefore, it can adapt. It can also keep getting its security improved, as it is today, it can already deal with quantum computer attacks. Satoshi knew that if he did a supply that would keep releasing coins until 2140, he had to make something that wold last this long. Bitcoin can last for all those years.
