3181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What's stopping people from using bitcoin? on: October 16, 2015, 06:15:14 PM
The 1 MB blocksize limit limits how many poeple can use Bitcoin.

Wrong. Real usage has never pushed the 1MB blocksize. If there was real demand that was pushing the 1MB blocksize, things would be different. The only times 1MB blocksize has been somewhat pushed is by temporal and non real-use spam attacks.
3182  Other / Off-topic / Re: The bitcoin in daily life on: October 16, 2015, 06:14:01 PM
I don't plan on using it for anything mundane that could be bought with fiat. Just like a lot of other people out there, I felt like im using something too valuable for it. In the future when you can get paid in BTC and there is BTC everywhere and the price is higher, then I will use it. Right now is like spending 10.000 on groceries.
3183  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US Presidential Democrat Candidates...any one to care about? on: October 15, 2015, 01:29:44 AM
If no one is pro-Bitcoin then no one is worth mentioning. In my book, if a politician is not aware on Bitcoin and doesn't understand the importance of it in the next decades, he isn't just ready to deal with an entire country economy wise. If you aren't at the forefront of technological and economic development you are wasting my time. They are just corporate puppets in my opinion.
3184  Economy / Speculation / Re: yay btc goes ~$250 ! on: October 15, 2015, 01:27:40 AM
275 or 300 at this point.. we can do it. I always check the /r/Bitcoin reddit for good news, there's always good bullish stuff happening lately daily. Then I check /r/Buttcoin to re-state my assumptions: You'll look as stupid as those idiots if you don't hold for the next 5 years.
3185  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gemini's launch is a failure, so is bitcoin on: October 15, 2015, 01:16:39 AM
Bitcoin is already a success. VC money keeps comming in, usage keeps increase, price has been stable and we are seeing a healthy uptrend. Your life is a failure if you aren't yet involved in Bitcoin and don't own at least one. This is a fact that we might as well deal with it. Stop trying to fight destiny man, just hop on the winning train.
3186  Economy / Speculation / Re: Next target: 260-270 on: October 15, 2015, 12:42:56 AM
The prospects are looking really good to hit 300 before this year ends. All news are good (except that idiot from Bitreserve which just caved his own grave by claiming Bitcoin will be worth nothing in 5 years). We are making progress, slowly but steady. So just wait and hold and watch the haters cry and kill themselves over regret. Good times ahead.
3187  Economy / Economics / Re: Anyone using Coin? on: October 15, 2015, 12:36:57 AM
I don't because I don't even use credit cards, let alone debit cards, and haven't got any gift cards. Im scared of credit cards, it's too addictive to start purchasing stuff that way. I have 0 debt and I want to stay like that forever. The design looks great tho, very slick.
3188  Economy / Economics / Re: Loans in BTC on: October 15, 2015, 12:33:17 AM
Long-term loans in BTC are possible? Because of defation.

Sure it's possible!

The greatest risk to BTC lending isn't currency risk, it's repayment risk. It's easy for someone to "take the money and run" since there are no reversals of transactions and no credit bureau to ostracize the defaulting borrower in the eyes of all future lenders.

Deflation is an interesting consequence though. But it only hurts the borrower, and that penalty is something I'm OK with. Borrowing shouldn't really benefit the borrower as much as it benefits the lender.

I am still waiting for a service that is serious enough that it makes me consider doing some serious loans beyond some microloans here and there, but i just can't trust BTCJam, not even if the borrower is credit with A+ levels, I need more. Apparently tons of A+ people defaulted and just nothing happens, you just lose the money thats all.
3189  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will the Banking Industry kill Bitcoin and keep the Blockchain? on: October 14, 2015, 11:57:17 PM
Every financial institution and every Bank seem to have their eyes set on the bitcoin and bitcoin these days... But being Bitcoin as a currency the main competitor to banks and the traditional financial system, won't it be possible to see Banks trying to stifle bitcoin while investing in the Blockchain?

Remember the early Internet? Where every company wanted to make their own localized version of it?

Remember how that ended?

Same with Bitcoin, Bitcoin is much better when it's global and all inclusive. Banks that make their own block chain will eventually be almost forced to just join the global block chain, because there is little to gain from having your own bubble.

That is the correct analogy, the real question is how long will it take for all those "intranet blockchains" to die. I wonder if it will be a matter of a couple of years or we will stuck with that shit for decades before we can see Bitcoin shine and go to 1 million dollars per coin where it should be once all businesses run under the protocol.
3190  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you believe we need more ways of advertising Bitcoin currency? on: October 14, 2015, 11:18:49 PM
Advertisement is a double edged sword, it can backfire if you overdo it and push a produtct too much down the throat of potential consumers, thats why it's better to keep it subtle and reasonable and just focus on the actual product, this means, making Bitcoin as good as possible, and when fiat starts collapsing we will not need any advertisement at all.
3191  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Mark Karpeles in jail now? on: October 14, 2015, 11:10:34 PM
I think the Japanese will not fuck around and will keep him in jail, he has made a lot of people lose tons of money, sometimes near to a lifetime of savings, I think he deserves several years in prison to think about it. I don't think we have to hope for USA to jump in, the Japanese should deal with it correctly, from what i've heard they don't play around.
3192  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a way to earn at least $1 in BTC per hour? on: October 14, 2015, 10:51:31 PM
There are endless ways to make $1 in BTC per hour, but all of them involve a certain risk, the only thing that involves 0 risks is faucets and signature campaigns, but it involves dedicating a lot more time than anything risk involved, so choose your poison.
3193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you holding your bitcoin for a price increase? on: October 07, 2015, 05:20:47 PM
So are you holding your bitcoins for future events such as halving or you more like to spend your bitcoins when you get it? I personally like to spend it for digital goods usually...

I'm not holding my Bitcoin for a price increase, because simply i use Bitcoin as the other currencies, as it's in fact money, so i sell and buy, i spend it usually

The problem is, there aren't much bitcoin-accepting businesses available in the market right now, so I doubt that you can used bitcoins that much in transactions. Because of this, bitcoin tend to be used as an investment vehicle rather than a currency as it was intended to be.

I don't think so. Who want to hold bitcoins will not use those even it will be the possibility to use. So, even in the case of the existing of to many merchants which accepts bitcoins, even if all the merchants in existence will accept bitcoin, this kind of people will not use those which have.

I'm one of them. I will not use never my bitcoins. Only if I will be sure 100% that there can have other bitcoins from those. Only in that case I will use those. In any other. I wait and will wait for the big increase of price of it.

I think people will use Bitcoin like this as long as they don't get paid directly in Bitcoin. Beside the fact it can increase tons in the next years, its the fact that you don't get paid in Bitcoin that makes it seem even as a more valuable asset than normal currency, sort of like gold. It feels like you are paying with gold because of this.
3194  Economy / Exchanges / Re: What is the Gemini price? on: October 07, 2015, 05:19:01 PM
It's probably going to be lower at first, followed by a pump, and then a correction that generally goes at around the average seen in preev.com, so if you are looking for some special discount price I don't think it's worth it. Also Gemini is going to be heavily monitored so I presume they will ask for endless credentials to trade.

3197  Economy / Speculation / Re: The most true, but also the cruel price prediction on: September 28, 2015, 03:57:59 PM
Lack of tunnel vision bias. The 1k ATH will look like a tiny drop in the sea in the next decade or two. This is a hint in how Bitcoinwisdom will look like in the future:

We are in the "stable low price where everyone ignores the elephant in the room for years" phase.
Pick up the easy fruits now or cry later.

You see that bump around 1990, that will be 2013 in 2030 Wink.

Indeed. I remember back in the day how all those big ass companies crashed and people said it was over. Well it turns out 20 years later anyone still holding those shares would be multi millionaires by now, but guess what, only a very small % of people go to the end with their investments, that's why naturally you end up with few people being rich. All or nothing with Bitcoin is the only way to go.
3198  Economy / Economics / Re: Varoufakis wanted to use bitcoin (or something similar) in Greece ? on: September 28, 2015, 03:55:50 PM
It will be better that Varoufakis goes forever from the political scene of Greece. This kind of politician only can hurt its people. Even he have to many followers there in these times this doesn't mean that him think for the best of them ond the Greece. As for its idea to use bitcoin as a money for Greece I'm sure that is a bluff. He make only bluffs with the hope to fatigue the adversary (whoever he can be) and then do that he want. This is even the story of bitcoin (or something similar) as the future money of Greece.

I agree, Varoufakis main goal is to satisfy his narcissistic needs.

Varoufakis is a keynesian socialist (or even communist). That means he will never support a free currency like Bitcoin that cannot be centrally controlled. Bitcoin is the exact opposite of socialism and fractional reserve.

Apart from that it is highly irrelevant if Bitcoin is approved by the political class, because Bitcoin is superior money. That alone makes it attractive and will lead to its success.

ya.ya.yo!

I think he may like the idea of a "controlled Bitcoin". So if Bitcoin is a success and so are sidechains, Greece could get their own chain and put their own rules on their own coin based on their own goverment, and at the end of the day still benefit Bitcoin because it ultimately runs under the bitcoin blockchain as a sidechain through blockstream.
3199  Economy / Economics / Re: Are recessions good for the economy? on: September 28, 2015, 03:46:27 PM
The recession is a necessary evil for the re-distribution of wealth. The system is pretty harsh, but without there would be no future prosperity.

Well, I don't know where that redistribution of wealth is at, me and everyone I know is still as poor as we were ages ago. It seems is not happening around here. Did anyone see any wealth redistributing into their pockets?
The only actual hope here is Bitcoin. The system is rigged and wealth will always get "redistributed" into the same people.
3200  Economy / Economics / Re: Greece to Receive 1,000 Bitcoin ATMs as Trust in Banks ‘Long Gone’ on: September 28, 2015, 03:28:34 PM
This is old news. Greece ain't doing anything revolutionary any time soon. The population and let alone politicians are too dumb to understand cryptocurrencies, and not only this, Bitcoin itself isn't ready to be used as an official coin for a country, not until we get blockstream working.
