Calling scrypt-jane scrypt-chacha would be like calling scrypt scrypt-salsa.

I was thinking: Keccak is very mineable for nvidia users. Skein and Qubit seem to occupy the same mining niche. Maybe we replace one of those with keccak.
2983  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinn Price forecasts, bear tread on: March 30, 2014, 05:45:35 PM
Sounds pretty much dead on to me.

The best exchange? So when are we getting our faircoins back?
2985  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Nxt-e scam platform, will rob the users' coins on: March 30, 2014, 05:26:42 PM
Nxt-e stole my faircoins too it appears. There was a blockchain problem with faircoin, but Poloniex got it sorted out almost immediately.

QQCoin uses Scrypt-Jane.

Also RieCoin uses a unique algorithm I believe.

Really, the average Joe has absolutely no reason whatsoever to use bitcoin. As long as you're not purchasing something illegal or trying to transact across international borders, using a credit card or paypal will be better 99% of the time for so many reasons.
2988  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [MYR] Myriad - Multi Algo - SHA or Scrypt or Qubit or Skein or Groestl on: March 30, 2014, 07:24:38 AM
So what are all the other algos in existence right now?

SHA-3, Scrypt Jane, Adaptive-N, X11?

We need to be responsible and monitor all these algorithms on a single collective page on the website. We can monitor the rise and fall in popularity of each algorithm over time easily then. We should update each algorithm as new coins adopt these other algos and monitor the state of all the miners in the world to make better decisions in the future. We gather data now to prepare for the future.

If I could code I would do this, but I can't.

Also the RieCoin and PrimeCoin algorithms.

Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Wake me up when we reach "Despair".
2990  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 29, 2014, 01:20:06 AM
I believe the ban is real as well. I'll believe some of China's most reputable news sources over the permabulls on this forum that have been telling everyone to buy for the last three months.
2991  Economy / Speculation / Re: URGENT, Bitcoin is on the verge of collapse !!! on: March 28, 2014, 08:55:15 PM
Thanks for this thread Igorr. It provides a perspective we don't often see here. I'm a bit confused as to how the decreasing mining profitability will drive down price though.
2992  Economy / Speculation / Re: Smart to sell at a loss in anticipation? on: March 28, 2014, 08:16:41 PM
well the only reason I suggested this is that it is almost sure that the price will drop to $400 or lower and I wouldn't do it if I was on the fence about the price. I can't buy more really if it drops due to having to pay rent and other expenses

Assuming you bought with money you can afford to lose, I would hold. This should be a long term investment. Unless you are day trading it. Then you might want to sell and buy back. But the moment you sell, you realize a true loss, so you have to be ok with that.

That's why if you believe in bitcoin long term, are not a day trader, then you should just hold. The market will always go up and down.

This. The market will almost certainly continue going down in the short-medium term, but eventually it will go back up.
2993  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 28, 2014, 06:47:07 PM
What would cause JorgeStolfi to buy?  Has he ever mentioned what the "tipping point" for him would be?  I am curious.
I already said that. I won't buy it for speculation, investment (whose "sale" I consider a scam), or even to help "the cause" (which at this point seems to have been totally derailed by "libertarians" and greedy financiers).

I may buy some cryptocoin someday to pay for something, if I find that it will be easier/cheaper/safer/faster/etc than the usual means (cash, check, bank remittance, cerdit card , debit card, ...).  Which does not look very likely right now.   Sad

If he changes his mind and buys some he should update [ his signature ]. Wink

Of course.

Bitcoin is inherently libertarian.
2994  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 28, 2014, 03:54:54 PM
i think there is a about 65% chance to see 540-560 in the next ~8-10 hours

There's a better chance we'll see $460.
2995  Economy / Speculation / Re: Got tired of Bitcoin on: March 28, 2014, 02:31:59 PM
What people need to realize, is even though the price has been falling, the ecosystem and infrastructure have been getting bigger. We have been building a base for the rocket this whole time, while giving us better and better chances to get on and strap in.  The price falls, but the community gets bigger.  DONT BE AN IDIOT, BUY SOME AND ENJOY THE RIDE.

Even if the protocol gets hacked tomorrow, can you really regret trying to be part of something you believed in? THIS IS THE SHIT YOU TELL YOUR GRAND KIDS ABOUT WIN OR LOSE!!!

This is a chance to be part of something bigger than we are. Something that can change society and the future forever.  How can you simply be bored?!

2996  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bloodbath and beyond on: March 28, 2014, 02:17:35 PM
The bloodbath is just beginning.
That said, I still believe in bitcoin long term. It's just that now is not the time to buy in again.
2997  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 27, 2014, 05:34:12 PM
did any major news roll out today?   I woke up this morning to lower prices on all exchanges..I haven't been following the news too much lately, as I don't plan on selling anyway

New rumours of Chinese BTC bans.
2998  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do not expect value-based investors in China to hold a bottom on: March 27, 2014, 05:30:53 PM
No one here respects your opinion because you are always picking fights and acting like a complete asshat.

LOL!

You wouldn't be so mad, if things were going your way and your little paradigm was intact......but they aren't, and it isn't and this will continue to be the case over the coming time period.

If I can help just one person here from being such a self-deluding retard, then I am doing the work that the good lord intended for me to do.

I bid you good day.

You might be better received with a little more tact.

This should be the hottest coin out right now. What do you think is holding it back?
3000  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 27, 2014, 04:20:11 PM
