2501  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 08, 2017, 03:49:39 AM
I'm a pretty long-term BTC enthusiast. However, I have become rather nervous about BTC's future the last several months. Even moreso now than at any point since 2013 or so.

If UASF doesn't pass, I really don't see how BTC can possibly move forward, and stop ETH from eating it's lunch. And as of now, it looks like UASF is very unlikely to make it.

FFS man, keep up with the news!

tldr, relax. we're fine.

Thanks. I can sleep soundly.

Has there been a noticeable uptick in Newbie/Junior member posts with positive XMR sentiment in the past 24 hours around the forum and thread or is it just me? Get out the tinfoil hats:

The cynical (and simultaneously optimistic) side of me identifies how a well organized market manipulation group potentially operates.

Accumulation phase - Last few weeks:
Fluffly "fake news" (probably coincidence, don't think he would have anything to do with this)
Polo freeze
Paid accounts to shill Dash, Byte, ZEC etc.
Pump anon competitors

Price Appreciation - NOW:
Short anon competitors currently orbiting moon
Fluffly "apology" (again, probably coincidence)
Polo thaw
Paid accounts to shill XMR / expose technical flaws in anon competitors

Am I missing anything? Hell of a trade..

I don't really subscribe to this being true, but interesting speculation to me!

It very well could all be part of an organized effort. A few things are pretty clear to me:
  • There are large whales/whale groups who manipulate the markets to their advantage.
  • They have a lot of financial resources at their disposal. Likely tens of millions of USD.
  • Running an organized operation with PR teams, paid shills, etc. is just part of doing business.
  • There are millions (billions?) of dollars to be made on cryptocurrency manipulation. So the incentive is there.
2504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 07, 2017, 02:14:57 AM
Last time XMR broke 0.025 there was more than 100k XMR on lending market, now there is less than 30k XMR available for shorting, holy cow   Shocked

There must be a whale pumping.
Risto? Is that you?
2505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 07, 2017, 01:41:37 AM
So, why the sudden pump now? A reaction to the announcement that the Polo wallets would be back up?
2506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: EWBF's CUDA Zcash miner on: June 06, 2017, 07:36:39 PM
I know Eth miners often dual mine. Is it possible to do it on Zec without a dual mining program? Like running EWBF for zec + ccminer for decred?
2507  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 06, 2017, 01:21:06 PM
Hi to all!

what do you think about monero price in near future? It seems like Monero is among the only coins that werent pumped recently, so is that a good sign to invest in it right now? Or it is too big to show us a good rise?
Thanks!

Monero is undervalued. A fair market cap would be over $1 billion - more than Dash, but maybe less than Litecoin for now. A speculative bubble, as we've seen with so many other coins could take Monero to $2 Billion+. And those are all very conservative estimates.
2508  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 06, 2017, 03:41:08 AM
There are at least 20,000 XMR on margin right now at Polo. Well, maybe.
2509  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 06, 2017, 03:30:27 AM
Well isn't this fun?

I've got the ballgame in one window and my usual Bitcoin tabs in another. Between innings I take the game out of fullscreen and check the Bitcoin prices.

Unfortunately the Jays just lost their lead and there was just a correction at Stamp. No sweat. We'll come back.  Cool

edit: just broke $3800CAD (Bitcoinaverage global price).

Bitcoin will be back, but I don't know about them Jays.
2510  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 06, 2017, 03:29:11 AM
Rockets and trains will return after 5K+ is my prediction. Bubble just starting.

I don't think it's time to start mentioning the "B" word yet. Maybe when we get to $5K+ territory, like you said.
2511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 05, 2017, 06:13:35 PM
I'm hoping to see a nice little price spike when deposits/withdrawals are re-enabled.

Good to know...

I've avoided Eth like the plague because of their BS like this. Of course, I've also avoided making a shitload of $$$ on Eth...

"Buy the rumor, sell the news" is the venerable market truism.  I hope to catch some falling knives tomorrow evening.

And I did, substantially increasing my monero stocks - although it took more than a single evening to reach my buy point, and I quickly recycled those gains into fresh powder, for the coming lows.  I have some hope to catch the last few knives of the season again tonight...

Well I am all in again, so I could not care less what the price does until the next ATH. Prices in the 016s seem unlikely to come again, ever.  I could not leave anything unmopped on the floor, so long as I could wring out another drop.

Sometimes you are in sync with the market and sometimes you aren't.  Lately I have been fortunate in this regard.  I found the inability to withdraw xmr from poloniex to be a great opportunity, while it lasted. It still persists but I think the resulting lows are already in.  Scenarios are roughly 10x overweighted to the upside from here.  Enough x's so that I gave up counting, at least.

When the window finally opens, these are the next coins going into long-term cold storage.  Ka-freakkin-ching.

Obviously they are rescanning the chain with new software.  Given the number of xns which are directly relevant to their accounts, and the amount of cross-checking and validation they have to do, I would be surprised if they finished by Monday.

I'm more or less in the same boat. I rage dumped everything after Fluffygate at .0179. I basically went all in again over the last few days during the brief dips into the .016s.
2514  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: June 02, 2017, 03:37:08 AM
What's up with the low volume today?
2515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: May 31, 2017, 03:33:11 AM
BTC likely to test recent lows @ $1900ish. I expect XMR to dip in sync.

The point of the prank is to demonstrate how unwise it is to trust (no matter how popular or charismatic) any personality in crypto, where Code is Law, or expect professionalism from non-professionals.

Teaching those crucial lessons, which are dear to the ethos of Monero/Bitcoin/FOSS yet widely subsumed by exuberant hype, is not mere "frivolity."

Fluffy is not a C-level executive of the Monero Corp.  Adjust your expectations accordingly (IE expect trolling and fun, not pumping and gravitas).

Fluffy is our Chief Entertainment Officer.  Are you not entertained?   Grin

You've done a lot recently to undermine your own credibility, as you're clearly just being a Fluffy sycophant.

It's rather telling you disputed exactly zero of the facts in my post, choosing instead to merely attack me for relating and analyzing them.

Perhaps you are just still salty because I utterly demolished your attempt at rebranding BBR to the (atrocious and universally reviled) "Rune" label?  Grin

Do you likewise consider GMAX a "Fluffy sycophant" with undermined credibility for posting this?  https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/6dcter/are_yall_on_drugs_help_me_understand_this/

Fluffypony has at every turn that I've seen behaved with integrity and intelligence. His thoughtful manner has been an essential component in the bringing in the support (or at least tolerance!) from intelligent people elsewhere resulting in advancing Monero through things like RingCT and protecting Monero through things like the discovery of the recently disclosed key image small subgroup handling flaw.

I will not be cowed by your attempt to heap retaliatory opprobrium on me for explaining and defending the wisdom and necessity of Fluffy's constructive epic prank.

Everyone can see that my posts contain actual analysis, whereas your own simply asserts your bias and calls me names for disagreeing with your opinion.

My credibility is nearly beyond reproach and I've been here longer than you, so why in the world would I GAF about your plebeian basic bitch opinion?

Your own words, eat them:

#REKT  Wink Kiss Wink

You've done no analysis. You've merely been enthusiastically parroting what Fluffy's said, with some extra cheerleading mixed in, as would be expected from a sycophant.

I'm impressed you spent so long digging up completely random, three year old posts and using them out of context. I'll feed one of yours back to you: "Yes, and everyone should be forced to take spelling, speech, and debate lessons before exercising their 1st Amendment rights is allowed." I couldn't agree more! Maybe then we wouldn't have to read the rambling, semi-incoherent nonsense that you spam all over these boards.

I've been raging all over the place for a while now too, and I've started calming down. I didn't buy into the pump. In fact, when I dumped everything I had been holding for nearly three years, I exited at the beginning of the dump, so I actually made out pretty well. I'm now assessing whether or not I will open up a long position again, and to what extent.

No matter what, my position will be smaller than it was previously. I've lost some faith and trust in Fluffy, much of the Monero community, and the project as a whole. Also, Monero's squeeky clean image has now been permanently tarnished by a pump n' dump scam orchestrated by the lead dev. I agree that almost certainly wasn't his intent, but that's the scarlet letter Monero will forever wear. That will have some predictable and unpredictable, lasting, negative effects.

I disagree with you on this one. Such frivolity communicates a complete lack of professionalism and absolute disrespect for everyone concerned, fluffy himself included.

The point of the prank is to demonstrate how unwise it is to trust (no matter how popular or charismatic) any personality in crypto, where Code is Law, or expect professionalism from non-professionals.

Looks like Fluffy has crashed the entire cryptocurrency market Bitcoin included.

Pony Power.

Not sure if this is the first time, but now I'm thinking Fluffy is Monero's Jesus... Cool

I think,  scammer has shorted xmr  with the insider info about the fake news and now those scammer cashing out btc profit which crashed btc price a bit.

so there is nothing new guys you can hate scammer, you can ignore the project but there is nothing you can do to stop the scam.

The scammer may have been Fluffy himself. For someone who hates speculation so much, he sure spends a lot of time on Poloniex: http://www.polonibox.com/?username=fluffypony

Hello gentlemen. How closely will this coin track Monero features. For instance, will ring CT be coming to Aeon?
