2401  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Poker Room on: April 10, 2011, 08:33:34 PM
the point of these tweets - to give immediate update if someone joined room. so it do not make sense to post "summary" once per day.

I understand your frustration and once there will be enough users all the time, so random visitors will not stare at empty tables - i will remove these tweets completely.

Remove these tweet = stop polluting my twitter stream?

Look at Sweden, one of the highest personal tax rates in the developed world, yet one of the best healthcare, education systems in the world. Ranked top 4 countries in equality.

Maybe they got the implementation right...

Just because they're the best doesn't mean their implementation is particularly efficient. I admit the American health care system is inefficient. I give you that.

But schooling in general? It's fricking inefficient. Go use khanacademy or something.
2405  Other / Off-topic / Re: Ideologies in terms of evolution on: April 10, 2011, 07:27:33 AM
I view this as problem with implementation, if i know that such an ideology can never be implemented than there's no point trying to transpose it into "evolution logic".

creighto mentioned the Nolan chart, which is a great tool in making comparisons imo.

I don't distinguish much between theory or implementation.

If the theory works, than the implementation works. If it doesn't, new theory.

Defending capitalism bores me.

That's fractional reserve banking.

Socialism,Communism -> manipulated fitness space with: fitness penalties for high performers(disproportional taxes) and fitness benefits for disadvantaged(social benefits).

More like they breed evil tyrants and sheepie population.
2409  Economy / Economics / Re: Thought experiment: Resetting spendings each month; what would happen? on: April 10, 2011, 02:23:17 AM

I have the impression this would pretty much extinguish poverty, and the prices of things would quickly reach an optmal value. But without actually doing away with having rich people; the rich would be those that develop means of offering things lots of people want in a big enough quantity so that lots of people can afford to pay for that thing (product, service etc).

I'm not quite sure how things would work when dealing with foreign tourists and busyness people outside the country etc though.

The cause of poverty is not that some have more than others, but the fact that there isn't enough  goods and services to go around.

I'm going to try to get Noisebridge (http://noisebridge.net) onboard.
Success!
https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Bitcoin

Send my coins to the address in my signature.

You just registered an account there and make a page for bitcoin. Doesn't mean anything.

Plus, it would be bad if they see us as spammers.

I saw that I was not generous about memory slots, so I decided to upped the items.

Memory slots are great if you save great designs. Great against players who only utilize only human memory to remember designs.

Hardly what I would call a small market. Apparently there are still plenty of folks paying for their porn.

Youtube like site are killing the porn download model. Now everyone moves on to live cam to monetize.

MtGox isn't in the USA. It's in Japan.
2414  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Another Noob perspective - drawbacks and potential growth opportunities on: April 09, 2011, 05:53:13 PM

Didn't realize coinpal was so high.
One of my banks does free transfers so it's not as bad for me.
If you're doing a good size trade then the $15 isn't that bad, but if it's just for 100 or 200 it's pretty rough.

Taking off for the day, good luck.

If people didn't try to defraud bitcoin exchange services, it wouldn't be so hard to convert dollars into bitcoin.
2415  Economy / Marketplace / Re: The Bitcoin Weekly accepts Ads via Operation Fabulous. on: April 09, 2011, 02:02:24 PM
Folks, if you're looking to advertise...it's REALLY CHEAP.

I mean 0.02 USD, 0.03 BTC a day.

The traffic is low, but I am sure it's worth more than 0.03 BTC.
2416  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Crowdfunding 1200 BTC (215 BTC pledged) for Automata RTS Game on: April 09, 2011, 01:45:56 PM

2417  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Crowdfunding 1200 BTC (215 BTC pledged) for Automata RTS Game on: April 09, 2011, 06:26:03 AM
Actually Kiba, I suspect you could use the stock exchange to raise funds for this, set up an organisation and sell shares(ownership) in it to raise the capital to develop the game, then the company can generate income by running a server for the game, charge a monthly fee or something with bitcoin. May dividend payments to shareholders of profit.

I am not selling ownership. I am selling a product, along with exclusive access and virtual goodies.

For Eris' sake, it's public domain! When I am finished with the hardcore month long coding marathon, you guys can set up your own servers independently of mine and charge for how much bitcoin you think you can get.

Even when I am finished with pounding intensely the game out, it will still need lot and lot of polishing. Hopefully, I'll earn some additional money that will support me. If not, next game project!
2418  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitcoin Poker Room on: April 09, 2011, 06:23:43 AM
removed hash tags =)

My search feed naturally detect any bitcoin related thing. It's still polluting the twitter stream. Perhaps you should limit it to a day summary or something.
2419  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Crowdfunding 1200 BTC (200 BTC pledged) for Automata RTS Game on: April 09, 2011, 06:02:32 AM
I realized that I need alpha tester to provide me quality data about the game. I also saw an opportunity to reorder the reward level to make it fit and how much.
I'll raise mine to 10 BTC then. Now stop using the foot in door trick.

Thank you for increasing your pledge!

Dear the GIMP team,

The community using Bitcoin (an open-source P2P cryptocurrency) appreciate your great open-source image editing software and the effort of volunteer programmers to making it better.

Several members of our community have offered to donate to your foundation, with x bitcoins pledged so far.  If you'd like to receive pledged and future donations, the GIMP team would need to create and publish a Bitcoin address using a local client, or use an online service such as mybitcoin.com. If you are interested but are having problems setting things up, please don't hesitate to ask us for help.

Warmest regards,

Bitcoin community.

I think this is a good letter. The fund is 618 BTC and that should be a good amount of money.

I am sending it to fundraising@gnome.org

If it goes well, than I don't have to think about this damn fund anymore.

P.S.

Also, I linked Bitcoin for them to click on.
