41  Economy / Games and rounds / [COVID-19] Folding@Crypto.Games ~ 0.4 BTC rewards, 0.04 BTC donated [Closed] on: March 31, 2020, 12:35:47 PM

It currently looks like most of us will be stuck inside or at home for another month, or at the very least until after the Easter Holidays.

We at Crypto.Games have decided to start a Folding@home team, and we'd like to run a little competition with it. Firstly, let me explain what Folding@home is:

F@H has been in the news a lot recently and seen huge increases in contributions, so if you already know what it is or are even folding yourself already, that's great.
If not, let me quickly describe what it is about: Folding@home uses your hardware while it is idle to perform scientific computations. Hardware in this regard includes CPUs and GPUs (eg an altcoin mining rig or your gaming PC, but also regular office PCs and workstations).
Among the top priorities for those projects right now is also one addressing covid-19. A more detailed explanation can be found here.
But to put it in dangerously brief terms: If you run folding@home right now, you help fight covid-19.

If you want to join our team and contribute, here's how you set everything up:
First off, download the Folding@home client, you can find all links to do so here (make sure you select the right OS).
Once you start folding for the first time, choose to set up your alias, and select a nickname (best one that is similar to your CryptoGames or Bitcointalk nickname, as you will use it to identify yourself).
Then select "247983" as your team number. This is very important, as only this way we can track your process. Make sure you enter the correct number here.
After that, tweak the settings for intensity and when to fold depending on your personal preferences, if you're not sure, try a few settings and see how they impact your browsing/regular use of the PC.

Now that we've covered the basics, let us explain the current event:
Starting right now and (until the end of April OR) until we run out of rewards, we'll be running a team competition for most Credits completed within our Folding@home team.
We will provide a total of 0.50 BTC as a prize pool for this event, all prizes will be dealt via the tipping feature on Crypto.Games, so if you do not have an account yet, sign up for one.
If we do make it to the top 100 on the monthly leaderboard for folding@home, we will double that 0.5BTC to 1.0BTC. (Unfortunately, that seems out of reach right now.)

Briefly explained, this is how it'll work:

  • 3 Groups: 1) Red Squad, 2) Green Squad, and 3) Blue Squad.
You'll be assigned to one of the three squads at random after posting both your Crypto-Games username and F@H username in this thread. If you have an altcoin preference, please tell us when you sign up, else BTC is the default.
Please use the following format: ("CG: #name# ; FH: #name# ; Coin: #ABC#")
If you want to donate your rewards (eg to DirectRelief), let us know and you will be assigned to the Rainbow Squad.
  • For every 100k credits you complete while folding, you will get 0.0001 BTC or an altcoin equivalent. The maximum reward for one user is at 0.01 BTC, which can be reached with 10 Million credits.
Continuing after that will however still contribute to your group's total.
  • In addition to the individual rewards, you and your squad will compete against the other groups for the most combined Credits. For this, we will sum the credits of all members of a squad.
The first placed squad gets 0.06 BTC, the second gets 0.03 BTC, and the last gets 0.01 BTC. Rewards are distributed evenly for each and every member of the group, assuming they did complete 5 or more Work Units.
Those that can't get many credits because they don't have the hardware to compete; don't worry. We're reserving 0.05 BTC for these cases and you'll be rewarded with lottery tickets at our own discretion.

All rewards will be sent after the event ends. We will provide an overview with currently earned rewards in regular intervals, check the first reply to see updated statistics and current team members.
Also please note that it is possible that the event ends earlier if we run out of rewards for credits!

This competition is ran on both Bitcointalk and the Crypto.Games Discord server. We will do our best to sync data between both places.
Please only sign up once, as there is just one competition running, signing up in both places only increases our work when keeping track of everyone.

Also, and this is very important, please don't try to cheat. We're trying to support an important cause here and we hope everyone can appreciate that and doesn't look to abuse the current situation.
We do reserve the right to disqualify users if we believe they act maliciously and are trying to abuse the competition.

We have adjusted faucet levels a bit: added a second "Wagered" column, so users can gain more levels by wagering. Check "Your account > rewards > faucet level" for more information.
~
I have a question regarding my rank.
Rank calculations have not yet been altered to reflect the new faucet leveling system.
They will be with the next update to the site and your rank will continue to reflect your highest level.
As long as that has not been done, your current rank might be a mismatch with your faucet levels, if the levels changed due to the altered requirements.

I was unable to get the calculations to line up with the payouts I was actually getting, even when trying to factor in the house edge, so I'm pry missing something. That being said, here are the payouts I've collected from playing. Each number is the consecutive payouts for each correct square clicked.

1 Mine: 1.031, 1.076, 1.125, 1.179, 1.238, 1.303, 1.375, 1.456, 1.547, 1.65, 1.768, 1.904, 2.063, 2.25, 2.475, 2.75, 3.094, 3.536, 4.125, 4.95, 6.118, 8.25, 24.75
3 Mines: 1.125, 1.286, 1.479, 1.712. 1.997, 2.35, 2.79, 3.349, 4.066, 5.004, 6.255, 7.962, 10.35, 13.8, 18.975, 27.107, 40.661, 65.057, 113.85, 227.7, 569.25, 2277
6 Mines: 1.303, 1.737, 2.35, 3.231, 4.523, 6.462, 9.445, 14.167, 21.894, 35.031, 58.385, 102.173, 189.75, 379.5, 834.9, (Last 4 guessed) 2087.5, 6263, 25052, 175365
24 Mines: 24.75
Let's take some exemplary looks at the calculations:

24 mines and one field is the same as 1 mine and 24 fields due to the symmetrical aspect of the payout structure (if you flip uncovered fields and number of mines, you always land at the same payout).
I've also color coded all other cases of this that are included in your list (3-1 + 1-3 as well as 1-6 + 6-1, and 3-6 + 6-3).

Since the first case is trivial, let us calculate the second one (1 mine, 24 uncovered fields).
(25/24)*(24/23)*...*(2/1) = 25, factor in the 1% house edge (same as *0.99) and you get 24.75

Now 6 mines and the last payout you could confirm (834.9), at 15 uncovered fields.
(25/19)*(24/18)*...*(11/5) = 843.33, factor in the 1% house edge -> 834.9

Calculations seem to fit the payouts you confirmed. Although I think you skipped one in your lineup for 1 mine, as that only lists 23 numbers.

If we want to save some time doing the calculations, we can always flip to the case with less steps involved.
Eg let's confirm the 2.75 number for one mine and 16 uncovered fields, flipping it to 16 mines and 1 uncovered field.
(25/9) = 2.77 (* 0.99) => 2.75

The basic logic of the calculations is quite simple.
You start at (# unknown fields / # non-mine fields) and you reduce both numbers by one with each non-mine field you uncover.
In other words, you always start at (25 / 25-#mines).
Continue that for as many steps as you want to calculate, or until you hit a base case (your number of non-mine fields hits one).
Then, and only then, apply the factor of 0.99 for the house edge (as it is a house edge per game, not per step) and you got your final payout.

And also the colors in the menu is not that good, with red/brown (yes, I am slightly colorblind) on dark grey.
There are several additional color schemes for people that prefer different optics or have issues with the default one.
You can find them in the settings, or use the hotkeys for light/dark mode (sun and moon).

It's an advance notice of changes taking place in 30 days. Before those 30 days have passed, nothing changes, thus I would disagree with you calling it abruptly.
As you mention a deadline, it is given with those 30 days. Which I also think is more than enough time for an advance notification.

Am I the only one that thinks there should be a way to share bets using a link? As far as I'm aware, the bet details are now only shown in the modal and there is no way to share it except taking the screenshots. Would be nice if they opened in a new tab/link so we could share them easily.
https://www.crypto-games.net/bet/dice/4356318025
The syntax is quite easy to understand, /bet/game/#id
You can also just use mouse 3 on the link to a betslip to open it in a new tab (or if you have a browser that previews the destination of a link, you can see it when hovering over the betid).
There's no distinct link called "share", but imo it's easy enough to extract the link and share your bet this way.

Minimum bet for maximum jackpot win 0.005
Odds one in ten million (10000000*0.005=50000 BTC wagered) , expected loss (50000*0.008=400)
Playing for small part of jackpot will give you better ev.
You mentioned 5000% = 50*8 = 400
Your statement implied that's true for the jackpot in all cases. It is not. Your statement only applies to those players playing for a full jackpot hit.
The majority of players however do not do that, they play at sizes lower than that and qualify only for a percent of the jackpot balance.
The jackpot becomes +EV at the point one way to win it becomes +EV, not at the point all ways to win it become +EV.
That number is 8, not 400.
54  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ Crypto-Games.net ⭐ 5 Years Old! ⭐ Faucet ⭐ Wagering contest ⭐ Investments ⭐ on: November 12, 2019, 02:00:39 PM
Odds are extremely low 1 in a 10 million excluding winning chance odds It should be over 400BTC to be EV+
That number seemed way out there, so I checked. Let's take a few seconds to go over the calculation together, instead of just throwing around made-up thresholds:

The house edge on dice is 0.8%.
If we assume you wager at a x2 payout (most common, probably, easy for an estimation), that would mean you have to wager 0.00000100 per bet to qualify for a dice jackpot.
If it takes you on average 10 million tries to win a jackpot (the expected value), then you would wager 0.00000100*10000000 = 10 BTC in that process.
Of course betting at this size will only award you 1% of the jackpot share. That 1% would have to match your expected losses while wagering 10 BTC to bring you to +EV.

So how much are you expected to lose when wagering 10 BTC? Well, easy enough 10*0.008 = 0.08 BTC.
So if you are playing in an area that gives you 1% jackpot hits, you would need to recoup 0.08 BTC from the Jackpot for it to become +EV.
Since the 1% is easy to calculate, we can quickly see from which jackpot balance up this is the case, 0.08*100 = 8 BTC.
The threshold for 1% jackpot hits to become +EV is not 400, it is way less than that, 8 (or roughly 2 times the current balance, raising as we speak, since the jackpot is progressive).

Now you might claim that the difference of roughly 5000% does not matter, because the situation is the same, the balance for the jackpot to become +EV is higher than the current jackpot balance.
But I'd say it makes a big difference, not just for people playing right now that can shave a big portion off their house edge with the jackpots (and even more if they participate and place in the wagering contests), but also for the future.
I can see the jackpot growing to 8 BTC or higher, that seems like a reasonable number, I however cannot see the jackpot growing to 400 BTC anytime soon, if ever (which is probably why you threw around such a stupidly high number).
55  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ Crypto-Games.net ⭐ 5 Years Old! ⭐ 4 Billionth Dice bet celebration!⭐ on: October 29, 2019, 10:34:14 PM
Pointing out a risk isn't the same as deciding to leave.  Besides pulling my investments wouldn't amount to much gain for anyone else, there are a lot of coins in the bankrolls.
If players leaving is a "risk", then investors leaving is a benefit.
56  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ Crypto-Games.net ⭐ 5 Years Old! ⭐ 4 Billionth Dice bet celebration!⭐ on: October 27, 2019, 11:33:02 AM
I think the risk in a long outage like this is people will just go elsewhere.   Bankroll investing is already risky on a day to day basis, coupled with lower play volume might not be good for those of us that have funds there.
I wouldn't consider that a risk to your investment. The wagering volume fluctuates all the time, people leave for various reasons and new players join in.
Further, I do believe that most people understand the nature of things well enough to not hold this against a site.
DDoS attacks are something that, sadly, every site likely struggles with at some point. They cannot be fully prevented, they can be mitigated and worked against, CDNs like CloudFlare help and give tools for that,
but depending on the type of the DDoS and its size, that can take time. We've seen that in this case and we've seen it in the past with other gambling sites struggling under similar conditions.

If you choose to leave however, go ahead and do so.
It's gonna benefit all remaining investors by increasing their share of the profits made.
57  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ Crypto-Games.net ⭐ 5 Years Old! ⭐ 4 Billionth Dice bet celebration!⭐ on: October 26, 2019, 11:10:03 PM
If this is attack then can you give update about investments and funds are safe because now I am feeling some bad about my investment ?
A DDoS attack does not put your funds at any additional risk, nor are the majority of bankroll funds stored in wallets that are connected to the live servers currently under DDoS.
58  Economy / Gambling / Re: ⭐ Crypto-Games.net ⭐ 5 Years Old! ⭐ 4 Billionth Dice bet celebration!⭐ on: October 26, 2019, 03:12:21 PM
The maintenance has kept some considerable time. I think that we are reaching 4-5 hours. Any information when the website will be up again?
It's not a maintenance, maintenances are scheduled and announced beforehand.
This is an ongoing attack that's being mitigated and worked against.
Due to the nature of these kinds of attacks, a timeline on it cannot be given.

I was able to exchange TRX for BTC in your casino.
Now I cannot see that option... Have you disabling it? If yes, is it temporary or permanent and will never be reverted back?

EDIT: Sorry, it was my bad... I was trying to find the option in the Exchange tab, but I have to make the procedure from the deposit tab.
The exchange only covers those currencies listed on CG. It is provided by CG itself with the limits and rates being set by CG. It only works with funds you have already deposited and that are confirmed.
The CoinSwitch integration only works prior to depositing, thus is grouped in the deposit window. It's a third party feature with limits and rates being subject to said third party.

To make the difference between both clear, and since they work at different steps of the process, they are grouped in two different areas of the site.
