1862  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Announcement] Block Erupter USB Ready to Hash Everywhere in the World on: June 13, 2013, 02:18:50 PM
Is it me or do these things become insanely hot? :-) (over what's pleasant to pull & put into an other USB port)
I think I'm going to put an additional bigger heatsink on these...

It's not about size, it's about surface.

This little HS doesn't look like much, but it increases the surface by x9!

ASIC 6x6=36mm2

HS 8x8=64mm2x5(one for each blade)=320mm2

320/36=8,8 plus borders on blades and base = ~ x9

Why friedcat made the new heatsink without surface in mind is completely beyond me, specially since the original was!

Is that a custom heatsink? I don't think I've ever seen such a small one!
1863  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] 0.081 - Avalon Chips - Escrow by John K. (Europe / RO) + PCB on: June 11, 2013, 07:27:19 AM
I've deleted my earlier post. Again, my apologies for editing.

I bid 0.12 for 64 chips.
1864  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] 0.081 - Avalon Chips - Escrow by John K. (Europe / RO) + PCB on: June 11, 2013, 07:24:15 AM
Put me down for 64 at 0.12 please, if you have them left Smiley
cheers

Edit: added bid changed amount

An auction isn't going to work if people can edit their posts.

I know, I was unclear how an auction worked on a forum. Edit: Deleted my post.
1865  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: I preordered a BFL Jalapeņo early February. Worth keeping, or sell on ebay? on: June 10, 2013, 12:30:22 PM
get a refund mate, or speculate, up to you. imo Don't bother with eBay- actually sold part of my pre-orders on eBay, couldn't with a clean conscience honestly let these guys who had given me their cash keep waiting, so I refunded them. Don't think it's worth the hassle.
1866  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Now available: Lancelot (Heavy Duty 400 Mega hashes, 2 x FPGA Mining Board) on: June 10, 2013, 10:09:48 AM
Am I right in thinking it would be relatively straight forward to repurpose one of these FPGAs to mine say Terracoin or any alt which is pretty much a cut and paste job?

I do not expect that you read the whole 43 pages of this thread.....but can you honestly read at least the last page before you ask ?

Wasn't that covering just scrypt? As far as I'm aware TRC isn't based on scrypt?

When I said cut and paste I meant alts based on Bitcoin, not the scrypt alts... If I wanted to mine those I'd just chuck together a GPU rig.

You just enter different pool details, that is it. If it is SHA-256, the FPGAs dont give a shit what you are mining. Neither do ASICs.

Thanks, that makes sense.

1873  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs Ships For Real This Time? Also to sell ASICs direct in bulk? on: June 06, 2013, 04:47:27 PM
maybe they were bleeding too much from the refunds? good luck to those that have orders.
1874  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] 0.081 - Avalon Chips - Escrow by John K. (Europe / RO) + PCB on: June 06, 2013, 08:46:28 AM
Very interested. Need to do a little more research, but John K escrow seals the deal really. I'll order some either tonight or the weekend.

Bit worried about not hitting the order target though :-/
1875  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Tentative] ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (UK) on: June 01, 2013, 01:41:36 PM
I'd be interested in 1 or 2 devices. Are you still planning to go ahead - there seems to be no other responses.

Hi stinky, there is another thread where Augusto is offering at a much better price. I've filled in the form and I am waiting on a reply from him about payment:

Sounds good, I'll be filling out an order form.

I was attempting a small buy too, but you're price is much better- plus very little hassle for me Smiley I'd be interested in one.
1878  Bitcoin / Group buys / [Tentative] ASICMiner Block Erupter USB group buy (UK) on: May 28, 2013, 12:24:28 PM
Ordered one of these from MineForeman and after some thought I'd see about facilitating a group buy to the UK if their is demand enough for it.

I obviously don't have much kudos, but I've been lurking quite a while.

If we go ahead we can use an escrow, I'm sure we can find a trustworthy member that people would be comfortable with, unless people wish to place their trust in me. I'm happy to reveal my identity within reason if we don't use an escrow to assuage anyone's fears.

I'd be using Royal Mail Special Delivery so everyone would get their ASICs as soon as possible. Granted this isn't the cheapest delivery, but it is the most reliable and fully insured.

I'm obviously not looking to make a killing here, but I would like consideration for my time and I'd like to be able to get a few of these for myself as part of compensation for me posting on each individual order.

Right now this post is just to see if there is enough interest to raise to the limit of 50. I'm happy to facilitate an order of any quantity, truth is I have no idea how strong the demand is for these little gadgets here in the UK. Please leave a reply or PM me if you are interested, stating the amount you would like and if we reach a good number we can quickly proceed. I'm really interested in supporting the community so hopefully this will be a way to gain some standing and trust here.

They'd be priced at 2.5 BTC and posted next-day insured. My incentive is that for my time I'll get a few for myself.

If your looking to unload some TRC I will happily take them off your hands! And thanks Smiley
