1122  Economy / Economics / Re: Is 1 bitcoin a decent and good investment? on: September 01, 2014, 03:22:55 PM
bitcoin is speculative. I'm not sure I'd call it a 'decent' or 'good' investment.

It's pure speculation, I think a lot of money can be made in the next generation of serious alts.
1123  Economy / Speculation / Re: We leave 500. Target 200. Trade recommendation. on: September 01, 2014, 03:14:54 PM
Sentiment is low, the market is sluggish. Need to see if around 475/440 holds. I think we may see $440 in the next week.

1128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin changing my ideology from socialism to libertarianism! What about you? on: August 30, 2014, 09:26:42 PM
Beli... Please take a while to examine the reasons that people are starving... It is often down to states interference, ignorance or brainwashing
Nope, actually it's the profit motive causing us to waste 5/9ths of all the food we produce. Here, I'll do the work for you.

I will watch this video another time.

But you sound like a socialist/communist. This ideology is deeply flawed and is simply dangerous. I will comment on the video when I have time. But if it is simply showing how much food is wasted and if we all just gave more of our property away to people (lowering my standard of living and destroying incentives for everyone) it will get short thrift.

I despise needless poverty. But I am willing to live in an imperfect world and not resort to fantasies of central planned utopias.
1129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, 50% POS Active on: August 30, 2014, 08:42:10 PM
What does a new investor see when he is interested in DMD?

He sees a lately not very active community.

He sees a prize which went down by 30% within the last week.

And he sees a multipool which depends on only one exchange and is not able to payout because this exchange has ongoing issues.

Would YOU invest in such a coin?

P.S. Don't get me wrong: I'm invested in this coin and interested that it succeeds.

As I understand there are things in the works. But I'm not aware of what major things that we have coming up.

I'll be looking to make some silver hard/cold wallets in the future for DMD
1130  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Burger King Dares Obama To Stop It From Fleeing to Canada on: August 30, 2014, 06:05:08 AM
I believe that BK is owned by a brazillian company. So they have nothing to be patriotic about anyway!
1131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin changing my ideology from socialism to libertarianism! What about you? on: August 29, 2014, 09:14:37 PM
So what would you do if we refuse to give up our property to you?
You don't own the property, and neither do I. You have the illusion of ownership because you have control over it. You have control over it because some men with guns will kill for you if you show them a paper. Control enforced through systematic violence, that's the reality of capitalism. The only reality.

Everything else is in your head. You still don't get it, your cup is too full. The point is compassion. This isn't rocket surgery.

Until there are no more starving people on this continent, every strip mall should be bulldozed and every parking lot torn up so food can be grown. This should be done whether the capitalist "owners" like it or not, because, you know, people are fucking starving.

Fuck your property. People are dying so some rich assholes can get a little richer. Your system is disgusting. There may come a time when a mob of hungry people must face off against some capitalist and his hired thugs... well we know which side of that fight you'll be on, and we know which side I'll be on.

Beli... Please take a while to examine the reasons that people are starving... It is often down to states interference, ignorance or brainwashing. You cannot undo all the evils alone with pure compassion. The evil capitalism that you despise has done more to alleviate poverty and pain than any revolutionary ideal based upon wealth distribution in all human history, this all without truly free markets too I might add.

It is possible to be a bleeding heart libertarian. Force and control never result in desires outcomes.

A new Swedish study shows that violent crime and drug abuse is not caused by poverty, but rather by genetics. There is a correlation but no causality between poverty and violent crime/drug abuse.
If these familys are the fat useless people that procreate, then some genetic manipulation might take care of the problem.

Genetics surely plays a role just as different races have slightly different physiological attributes, but raise a kid in Nigeria (or shit UK state schools for that matter) and he'll be in a more violent environment. Let's look at what predominantly causes violence and also epigenetic changes (child abuse).

I really do not understand this bias towards using science to remove responsibility from individuals. By this studies results I guess all those no go areas of London just happen to be impoverished and ignorant?

The fat and useless are only that way because they are enabled by the state stealing other people's resources.

People can play with their genes if they want to voluntarily, but that sounds too close to eugenics for my taste.

Eugenics made up a large part of stupidity of world war two.  Its fairly clear to me that the potential of human beings far outweighs their physical limitations and so crime or success is not largely from dna.  Mostly we are all related not limited by where we're born but limited or enabled by our early circumstances as we grow

Quote
Part of the reason populations are growing is because there is less war, famine and crime.
Technology is a large part.   Pre industrial revolution most of society was spent just raising enough food to thrive and now we've gone way past in most countries.   I think we have the same amount of crime but less need for violence to succeed in that task maybe.   Look at how many are trying to earn just by swindling online, even crime has developed into something more sophisicated

Great points. As to swindling online, did you know an entire cult has grown up around online fraud /crime.. I think it was in Nigeria, surprise. I think it was a vice documentary about it.

Couldn't comment whether there is less or more crime. I would bet on it being about the same, maybe a little more?
1133  Economy / Goods / Re: ♨★★★ E-Pipe for Vaping, E-cig ★★★ ♨ Price drop! on: August 27, 2014, 06:56:41 PM
Just got mine today. Wow! The packaging is pretty snazzy!
Can't wait to mod this pipe and have some fun!

Let me know how you get on :-)
1134  Economy / Goods / Re: ♨★★★ E-Pipe for Vaping, E-cig ★★★ ♨ Price drop! on: August 27, 2014, 06:56:13 PM
Would it be good for vaporizing weed also, or is it suitable only for these e-cigarette cartriges?

The vaping chamber is for eliquids, it does not vapourize anything else, though I suppose it would work with a cannabis based eliquid too.
1135  Economy / Economics / Re: If you are anti-Bitcoin or permabear, why are you here? on: August 27, 2014, 04:11:51 PM
I'm anti what I think bitcoin will (has) become- centralised and controlled.

But I think the concept has value. I don't actually see any major drivers to push us to ATH either, though technical analysis seems to favour an increase over the medium-long term at least.
1136  Economy / Economics / Re: Technological unemployment is (almost) here on: August 27, 2014, 03:47:23 PM
The advancements of technology will sooner or later question the monetary system.

Eventually maybe, but until then I think the monetary system will more likely embrace cryptos as a whole.
1137  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin as a socially fair currency on: August 27, 2014, 01:37:09 PM
Socially fair is a broad term and as misleading as any usage of it in media.

The only socially fair currency is a populist pipe dream, because the 'wealth' accumulated from bitcoin is entirely a reflection of market forces. Since in free markets there are winners and losers (gains and losses), in your reflections the losers are ones who didn't know or didn't invest neither risking or truly losing anything.
1138  Economy / Economics / Re: Technological unemployment is (almost) here on: August 27, 2014, 11:07:11 AM
In a fully automated society, everyone is in the parasite class category. Demand and need will be drastically different than what we see today.

That implies everyone is of a parasite mentality. Some people keep working even after they retire, or after they become millionaires and have no reason to keep working to earn a living.

To keep working, you need to have a job that meet the need of the population at that time. If everything is being done by robot, there will be no need that can't be done by robot and no job around for human.

Impossible. Humans will always find something to do, even if it doesn't pay them anything more than recognition for something they did.

For small group of people, yes. What about the rest of the population?

Our current population count is well above 7B, there is no sign of it slowing down.

Wrong (unimaginative pessimism) and wrong (ignorance) ... http://www.slate.com/articles/technology/future_tense/2013/01/world_population_may_actually_start_declining_not_exploding.html

Yep, many things point towards population decline or at the very least stabilisation, especially as nations become more developed. And if you're lucky enough to live in the West you have the cost of living putting dampers on family starting among other factors.

Guess what goes up must come down due to space and resource limitation.

War, disaster, famine and crime will do its work naturally.

It's more down to education (contraception plus both parents working) and economic suppression. Part of the reason populations are growing is because there is less war, famine and crime.
1139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update Now to 0.9.5 wallet on: August 27, 2014, 10:02:27 AM
I think creating a strong link between [Ag] and UNO is a smart move.  [Ag] has a much more 'populist' appeal and history.  Then the 'industrial use' argument. Plus less risk in mailing/postal theft. I think we could realistically fix an exchange rate of 1uno=1/15th oz. in short order.  From there keep building up a network of 'holder/dealers' and progressively increase the amount of [Ag] backing Un.  If we get to parity 1:1, excellent.  And I think this will bring BIG attention and high volume market liquidity.  BUT ... I think we can go further than just a market capital equaling about 200k oz [Ag].  Long term 'Unobtanium' is to be created by a strange alchemy of many precious metals, goods, services, and spices.  This way the market capital can grow on up backed by physicals all the way, baby steps first.  Personally I will try to hold at least 100oz physical before this winter.

Interesting idea, I really don't know how asset backing can work short of using physical wallets.

I agree that buying some silver is a good idea. I believe it could go as low as $12 in a super extreme bottom (I'll be loading the boat for sure). After that I think people will be shocked at how far it could go.
