1041  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: October 13, 2014, 10:34:24 AM
No no! B T S -- a bit more detail:

as a devolutionist, an anti-parliamentarist, I have never ever ever bothered with what we would call 'reformist' politics. So, for me, the GFC is me with my nose pushed up against the glass, misanthropically wishing ill on all those who've treated me like a tin-foil-hat fool all these years. If you have a practical background in 'ordinary' commercial theory and bullion, I really am eager to learn.

It's my assumption that silver and gold will be a better bet as Things Start Getting Really Ugly.

m

Seems we are cut from the same cloth. I gave up on traditional politics before I even knew what a Libertarian was. My analysis is largely based on very basic TA- looking at resistance support, oversold, overbought ect, and I temper most of my opinion by looking at sentiment and following market commentators that I have grown to trust such as:

https://www.youtube.com/user/daytradeshow

I think silver and gold are certainly good bets, but on a technical standpoint mainly. From around $22 downwards I've been of the opinion that silver is undervalued. I would not call my experience practical as I am a games developer by trade, just dabble in the markets and making these coins/bars too, I've only really started learning over the past 2 years, with the financial crisis a latent trigger and focal point for learning about the mess we are in.

I'm more of the opinion that things will just grind down and continue to get worse before something radical happens in terms of where everything is going. I really hope that the world can wash the slate clean rather than insisting on the safety of an overpowered state.

Big T S, I segued from studying peak oil in early 2007 to the GFC. Started writing occasional articles in 2012. My background in libertarian politics goes back to '82. This system had 'failure' written all over it even then . . . if you had the moxy to track down the info.

And first hand? I was a conflict journalist -- unpaid -- for 23 months during the insurrection in Jakarta in '98 and '99, and saw a great deal of truly ugly shit from right close up.

m

I bow to your superior experience then IMZ. I certainly agree with the assumption that the system is screwed. Why so long unpaid in Jakarta? I'd be interested to read some of your articles, would you mind PMing me the info? I don't want to go off topic for too long on this thread.

Big T S, my background in the GFC

Not sure what you mean, if you mean that you have experience in the financial crisis? I'm not pretending to be an expert, I just have some opinions based on my own basic TA.

Another teaser pic for you guys Smiley Should have the first ready by the end of the week!

1045  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: October 13, 2014, 08:28:42 AM
Tee hee hee . . . I feel like a minnow, watching and learning. Gonna put my whole stock of Btc -- 0.09 -- into Uno on Cryptsy.

And have a look at this guys: http://focustaiwan.tw/news/awps/201410130006.aspx

One: should affect silver prices soon.

Two: should affect crypto prices a bit later.

Personal Opinion: we're goin' over the falls in a barrel.

Question: I am holding off on Hedges because I (naively) expect Uno to lift a little for our birthday -- or have we 'levelled out' at this point? (in which case we can launch Hedges any time!)

m

Global indices have been in toppy territory for the past month or two- don't be surprised by a melt up before hand though. Sentiment is somewhat bubbly as well. It wouldn't surprise me to see silver sell off too if we see a correction this year. But that would be (in my opinion) a true bottom for the PMs and silver seems an excellent long term buy right now regardless of the couple bucks of downside potentially.

Updated OP with realistic price for pickup. We can work something out if you want me to drive it over to you too.
1047  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Swiss Vote on Gold Standard (20% backing) on: October 11, 2014, 03:19:12 PM
Check your sources. The popular vote on November 30th isn't about reinstating some kind of a gold standard at all. It's about bringing back to Switzerland some gold which is stored in foreign countries, and mandating the Swiss National Bank to keep 20% of its assets in gold (7.6% now). Comparing with the US or most countries doesn't work, as Switzerland has very little debt. Switzerland doesn't print money like the US, even if some Swiss wish it would, because the biggest problem there is how to stop the Swiss franc from getting more valuable, which hurts exports. I'm old enough to remember the days when one US dollar was buying 3 Swiss francs, check what it's worth now.

The Swiss I know are against the gold initiative because gold investments are much less lucrative than the stock market.
You know, I'm so cynical now, I see a government trying to mandate banks keep gold in reserve (or a gold-backed currency) as crony capitalism looking to pump the gold market for politicians' & "business leaders'" gain. I guess any possible action looks like crony capitalism if you think long enough.

As far as I understand it, it is being largely driven by a single politician, but I can't recall the details.

I don't think that banks need governments to pump the PM price - the ETFs have done a marvellous job of that since they were created.

But yes, always suspicious of any government initiative! :-)

Hey Guys! Finally got the UNO bars through this week, pricing will be available soon, check out this video of the first run (sorry about the quality, high res photos will follow):

http://youtu.be/akiRvYU7I-c

I'll be ordering more, but right now there are only 5 pure silver strikes and around 20 plated ones.
These will be highly collectible by UNO fans! Save one for me!

Don't let KJU get them all!

When I found this picture, I thought the bars were extra large. Then I realized, KJU is just extra small.

Haha I'm surprised that he can hold them with his ankles right now ;-)
1051  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Swiss Vote on Gold Standard (20% backing) on: October 09, 2014, 08:12:01 PM
I'm not Swiss but I would vote YES!! since your government cannot rape you by printing more money.
Printing money is a temporary fix that will come back to haunt you.

The only problem I see with Switzerland is that they are weakening their bank secrecy position which could hurt their money inflow.

Of course many of us would vote in favour (if we would vote at all) , if only to limit rapacious government spending. But common sense has the whole propaganda machine pitted against it. Which is why I'm interested in some anecdotes from some Swiss individuals.
I'm not certain that their bank secrecy will hold up in any case with the global push to hunt down taxable capital.

Thanks :-) it's hard fitting the forum around living out of bags while I wait to move to Holland, but hopefully I can bring these to the community before then!

Hope that it doesn't pump too much. I think that UNO needs a bit of a breather, i.e. the 40% incline...

i did what i could to help that cause over the past 36-48 hours...once i noticed the vertical momentum waning i began to clear lots of small buy orders and covered my shorts with buy orders around 00705.  someone else was dropping the big orders though, I didn't have the stones to short more than 20kg or so of precious unobtanium.  buy support was pretty strong at .007, and even stronger now within the last hour or so

What exchange are you shorting on? I was unaware that you could short alts anywhere.

i should apologize, i'm sort of just borrowing that stock trading term... maybe there's a better term for what I was doing?  I was selling my own UNO and just buying back lower

Ah that's what I thought , just wanted to be sure :-)

1055  Other / Politics & Society / Swiss Vote on Gold repatriation on: October 09, 2014, 06:52:32 PM
Any Swiss folks on here?

I'm very interested in the public sentiment regarding this vote in Switzerland. So please chime in on this.

As I understand it, Switzerland has an admirable society in comparison to much of the west and I find the concept of a gold standard in these times fascinating, if somewhat unlikely.

Am I too cynical or is there a real public push towards sounder currency repatriation in Switzerland?
1056  Economy / Collectibles / Re: ◯ Silver and copper coins- Goxxed For The Last Time a (commiserative) coin ◯ on: October 09, 2014, 02:44:54 PM
how many pure silver coins are left? And when will the bars be available?  Smiley

There are 17 Goxxed coins left (including 4 discounted smudged coins). I'm also open to negotiating a bulk discount for these before I get another small run numbering 45+.

The bars are technically available now, but I need to get stickers and holograms ready for the UNO community for them, but if you are interested in them for investment purposes, I can arrange a discount for the bars to be sold as they are, I'll be getting a run of about 20 bars ready soon, there are only a handful readily available right now, there is a video preview here:

Anyone buying right now???

I'll be dipping in my toe sub 260$

Lol, sure eating my words right now!

Are you like most people here? Chasing it up towards 340?? Not a good move btw

No, not like most people here (at least so I imagine). I just expected us to remain below $300 slightly longer, but the bounce was to expected from 275 or at least not to be surprised by it- though I was expecting (hoping for?) more panic. I sold off my small trading position when it became apparent that we could be in a bear market, between $450-550ish and only bought a little again @ 300.

I'd have to see the price sit comfortably above $340 before I would be that bullish. Ideally I'd like to see $300 tested again. For now my powder is still dry. I don't chase price swings, I'd rather decide on an entry point I'm comfortable with ahead of time and then execute a buy based on that, though that's easier said than done in practice, this is one of the reasons why I think silver is a great buy and there are lessons to be taken from both markets (heavily bubble based in the past) to be applied to any entry or exit points in the future.

Still have some of these awesome pure silver coins available! PM me for a great price.

Just finishing up another project, so if you like your silver in bar format (around 50 grams) stay tuned!
