881  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Current wallet 0.9.5 on: December 18, 2014, 11:47:53 AM
I'm very aware that the world economy is getting shakey myself I am especially concerned about the state of the UK, my home country, where I am now in Amsterdam seems okay, but I honestly don't know enough about the country to comment much.

The bitcoin bubble was helpful to me, but I should have sold more. I intend to make more by trading this volatility. In my personal life I am attempting to save as much as I can and make sensible 'preps'- we could be heading into a great depression like scenario where no asset class is safe. Even though I'm in a relatively well paying job here in the netherlands- half my pay goes on rent alone. I have stopped buying excessive presents for philosophical reasons (consumerism is total bullshit and not what Christmas is meant to be about), but honestly wouldn't want to spend the money anyway.

I think all the average Joes are really feeling it and the worse thing is central banks want more inflation!! Great the things I need are going to be pumped up by idiot suits in positions of luxury and power.

Alright you Unophiles!

Time to try and spread a little Christmas cheer by helping some families far more worse off than us.

As such I have created a charity auction of some of my silver and one rare one-off gold plated bars.

Please help me get some money to people that have had an unfairly rough deal.

Here

Thanks guys Smiley

Also, please spread this link if you can Smiley

884  Economy / Auctions / Charity Auction - Unobtanium silver and gold plated bars/cold wallets on: December 18, 2014, 11:33:59 AM
In an attempt to make some seriously hard-up families or family's year a little more endurable I am auctioning 3 of my test strikes from my Unobtanium Silver Wallet bars. Proof will be posted as to where the money went.

My ultimate aim is to raise a little money to at least make one family's Christmas a little easier and more enjoyable. Having grown up in a very poor area I know how much difference just a little can make. Let's make an effort to help those afflicted by disease or worse provide a memorable and less stressful time for their children.

  • One of them is a one-of-a-kind gold plated strike. (numbered 06)

One is a nickel plated strike (numbered 21)

One is a silver plated strike (numbered 22)

Beware that these are test strikes and as such have a little wear.

Winners will be provided some generic security stickers and labels along with a single 00 numbered Uno security hologram.

Let's spread some light and help some people out!

To clarify, I will convert the final payments into dollars or whatever myself and send PayPal or Giftcards to the families.

Minimum bids start at 0.1BTC bids in 0.01 increments.

Please state the bar/s you are bidding on in posts too.

Auction will end on the 23rd of December 12am GMT. (Maybe a bit earlier depending on the families needs).

Postage will be covered by me.

More photos to follow.

Thanks for looking and I hope that you take part Smiley

While UNO may be stable in the face of btc decline. I can't help but feel the weakness will correlate until this bear market subsides.

...

Hate to say this, but do you think somebody is selling UNO to buy cheap bitcoin?  I mean, UNO has been stable relative to bitcoin.  Maybe they figure they can drive down UNO, buy cheap bitcoin, and then return later for the UNO they drove down?  Or, am I talking crazy?

Z

I think it's probably more easily summed up as people selling into this bear market to buy lower.

I will be running a charity auction for a number of bars, including a completely unique gold plated test strike of this bar.

The aim of the charity auction is to help a family/s in need for Christmas. although I don't believe in excessive gift giving at this time of year, I would like it if we could help some people that have had an unfairly rough year.

keep your eyes peeled on this thread for a link to the auction :-)
888  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2015 is the year of BITCOIN ! on: December 16, 2014, 11:25:58 AM
Didn't Russia ban the use of bitcoin? Anyway, if you think the average citizen in Russia will understand how to use btc any time soon, you're sorely mistaken.

Who cares about fractional reserves?! Did you guys forget about this?

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/mar/18/truth-money-iou-bank-of-england-austerity

This is considered incredible material in a newspaper? I know it's the Guardian, but this just further confirms my opinion of the public- if a reporter can only half understand the mechanism of money as debt, how will the general public fare? Only took them a century to catch on.

Just consider what might happen if mortgage holders realised the money the bank lent them is not, really, the life savings of some thrifty pensioner, but something the bank just whisked into existence through its possession of a magic wand which we, the public, handed over to it.

Answer- absolutely nothing. Those that cared to investigate the nature of the system would have done so already. As long as they have their TV, frozen food and booze or whatever. I would love to be wrong though, let the whole rotten thing disintegrate.

893  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who exactly is buying right now? on: December 13, 2014, 08:43:50 PM
I have no idea where the price will go, but I haven't seen any confirmation that we are out of this bear market.

For now I am skimming from trades, but not adding any to my core position.

"hodlers are always safe"

Traders are always safe, they sell expensive btc and buy cheaper btc

Very true, this is why we should see a slight bounce when the Chinese are getting ready to close up approx. 5hrs

The boom will happen once the Chinese really start getting interested.

And what will be the catalyst for that?
899  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: smalltimers' coinanalytic-service for investors-protection, also tutoring noobs on: December 09, 2014, 09:47:00 PM
Like the idea of this service, perhaps some trade logs, profit and loss track record would help Interest?

If you want help with laying out your thread/basic graphics, let me know. Perhaps even an signature campaign with your services? The payment could be some access to your newsletter ect... Just thinking out loud Smiley

Why are people so polarized about this? Small timer brings up some valid points.

We are clearly in a bear market, unless a bottom can be found around here or $330. BTC certainly has flaws, but progress will hopefully be made one way or another.

It is possible to be positive about crypto but critical of its many shortcomings.

I speak as a disillusioned idealist, it's important to think about why you believe certain things and learn from the past and work with facts and educated guesses.

Personally I see stagnation in the bitcoin price with a downward bias for many months more. But I don't necessarily think higher prices are good for adoption either, what is 'good' is entirely subjective. Would another bubble pump help Bitcoin? I doubt it.

Smalltimer, I'd be interested to hear your opinions on alt coins that you like?
