Sounds interesting - this can change the way bitcoins are funded! Good luck with your site Smiley
7562  Economy / Auctions / Re: Advertise on this forum - Round 55 on: October 14, 2012, 10:54:31 PM
I'd like one slot at 2.5 BTC.
7563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The future of Bitcoin is illegal on: October 14, 2012, 10:48:25 PM
Absolutely. Remember when Pirate's Ponzi crashed?

Bitcoin will gain with illegal activity. I wouldn't be surprised of there's human trafficking in exchange for btc.
7564  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: 5850M OpenCL Mining - How? on: October 14, 2012, 10:44:39 PM
doesn't show up at all in the opencl devices list.

I've updated the Calayst to the latest version and installed a bunch of AMD development tools which is supposed to feature OpenGL support for my graphics card? Doesn't work either..

if anyone else has got a 5850M working on alienware please let me know how.
7565  Economy / Gambling / Re: Ponzi Scheme Please on: October 14, 2012, 10:40:23 PM
No no no.

1. You must make vague promises of gaining your returns based on some financial speculation but you can't go into detail.
2. You must promise something like 3000% APR
3. You must be a pirate, a viking, a horse or a pony.
7566  Economy / Gambling / Re: Yet another martingale bot for SatoshiDice (Java app) on: October 14, 2012, 10:37:51 PM
In addition, you will probably lose everything if you went on.

But thanks for making the bot - gambling it NOT A WAY TO GET BITCOINS, it's for entertainment.

I like instant results..
7568  Bitcoin / Project Development / Bitcoin Crowdfounding. on: October 14, 2012, 10:11:09 PM
You've got an idea for the next bitcoin-based service/website/product, whenever it's a new ASIC miner or a credit card to bitcoin exchange or even a shop that sells images of nyan cats. You'll need some funding to develop, work and produce the site. And you don't want to get in jail for financial fraud over offering fake "bonds" and "securities".

A site similar to Kickstarter and Indiegogo but only accepts bitcoins would be perfect for your venture. Get bitcoins, backers get rewards. Win win.

Example:

Back 10 BTC to get a GPU miner, shipped to your address or hosted in our datacenter!

Back 20 BTC to get two GPU miners, shipped to your address or hosted in our datacenter!

Back 40 BTC to get four GPU miners, shipped to your address or hosted in our datacenter!

1. You are not offering dividends.
2. You are not offering shares (ownership).
3. You are accepting funds for crowdsourcing and in return you give people products that they can choose not to redeem.
7569  Economy / Securities / Re: GLBSE Payment Claims (Announce your payment here) on: October 14, 2012, 10:05:03 PM
Got this email:

Your GLBSE account has been partially processed. 90% of your funds have been returned to you with this payment. Once we recieve (yes, GLBSE doesn't even know how to spell receive) the remaining funds from our treasurer and secretary the final payment will be made and you will be informed. We will also inform you when we process your assets, allowing you to continue your relationship with your issuer.

Also @Namworld, what will happen to my share of BTC-MINING?
7570  Economy / Securities / Re: Why do you chose a fake sec. in fake Co? What about crowd funding? on: October 14, 2012, 10:04:01 PM
Why are you people so happy buying fake and illegal securities in non existing (fake) entities?
Why even issue this illegal stuff and call yourself a corporation, while you know, you are not representing any legally existing Co.
If your company is registered, and you offer shares to general public - you are breaking the laws in most of the countries that have internet access.

Obviously this opens the ugly door of SEC/FSA/OSC/... etc, who will start cracking down on this sooner or later and make everyone's life really miserable.

Why not get over the egotrip and start calling it what it is: crowd funding with BTC/LTC/PPC etc.

Because when something is offered as a dividend-paying investment it falls under securities legislation and not crowdfunding legislation.

You're offering an investment. It's a security, regardless of what you call it.
Attempts to hide unlicensed securities behind crowdfunding legislation (eg, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=102010.0) wouldn't stand up for even a minute in court.

Can you elaborate?

If someone gets some kind of income or return on their capital input then that is not crowdfunding (for now).  The JOBS Act that contains the crowdfunding provision does not kick in until Jan 1, 2012, and I believe the SEC will find a way to postpone the implementation or put up some arbitrary rules to slow its implementation until they have enough time to assess what way to better implement this law.

If you give some kind of capital input to a upstart business and they give you ownership percentage that has the potential for capital gains or they give you dividends or other kinds of income, then that is not allowed under SEC regulations under some specific rules.  You can't publicly solicit funds, you have to have a certain kind of investor, that they know the risks, such as have experience investing in risky investments, and that the total number of investors is not more than a certain amount.  This is because they may potentially soliciting the public for funds. (you could make an argument that the bitcoin community is not the public at large)  If the upstart business gave the person a frying pan then that would not be under SEC rules.

I have invested in Cooperations (not corporations) before which was completely outside SEC jurisdiction and still legal.  It is regulated by the state level as the cooperation does not allow ownership rights to citizens outside of the state where it is found.  I think they publicly raised over $200,000 and have been around for over 2 years.

Don't pay dividends then, or anything close to dividends. Offer rewards.. like a cat or something.

7572  Bitcoin / Project Development / Promoting bitcoin - "Pay Less with Bitcoin" on: October 14, 2012, 11:42:09 AM
I was thinking maybe there could be a project where we encourage web stores to take Bitcoin as payment and offer a discount (like 3%, about paypal's fees) for those who purchase with bitcoin. In addition, the official 'Pay Less with bitcoin' site will showcase stores and give out free advertising, and could develop easy to use and integrate plugins and APIs to make accepting bitcoins be something that takes around a hour to set up and get working.
7573  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should we be trying harder to stop the BTC black market? on: October 14, 2012, 11:24:45 AM
I disagree. BTC is just a currency, it's like a Toyota is just a car. Toyota isn't held responsible when some crook robs a bank with their car, and bitcoins are just a currency.
7574  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SourceForge mirror hacked. Bitcoin could be next target. on: October 14, 2012, 11:23:34 AM
Bitcoin probably will be the next target but people should catch on.
7575  Economy / Marketplace / :: 1 Free Bitcoin - absolutely free, no $ required. Just use my affiliate link on: October 14, 2012, 11:20:26 AM
What's Clixsense?
Clixsense is a site that pays you money for viewing advertisements, completing offers and surveys as well as tasks. It's similar to a lot of Bitcoin services, but this is about USD cash. However, there is a referral / affiliate system which can be quite beneficial.

So here's the deal.
If you put in about 15 minutes a day, you can make a bit of money - I've made $9.40 in five days. That's nearly a bitcoin. But I will also share my affiliate earnings with you and pay you in bitcoins.

I will take the Paypal money you earn on Clixsense and convert them to bitcoins AND give you a bonus of my affiliate income.

Current rate is (MtgoxUSD - 3%) from clixsense = 1 bitcoin. This is good for you - you'll get more bitcoins compared to the market price. Keep in mind that this offer is only good once, and I will only give you a maximum of one bitcoin.

Signing up
Click on the second (to the right) link in my signature to sign up, and reply or PM me with your username once you have reached (MtgoxUSD - 3%) and would like to covert it to 1 Bitcoin. If you're happy with taking Paypal as the $, I will give you a bonus of 0.02 BTC.
7576  Other / Meta / Re: Censorship on Bitcointalk on: October 14, 2012, 11:07:38 AM
This has occurred in the past with Bitcoin Foundation: Gavin unfairly maintains its post in Bitcoin Discussion, with a sticky dedicated to it, while competing foundations are promptly and correctly moved out.

This is not entirely true.

Actually the only true part is that the threads started within 24hours of Gavin's announcement I moved to Service Discussion, fully expecting to move his announcement to Service announcements as well. But I wanted to hear his agreement first, which I didn't get so I asked theymos who told me this:

Gavin's thread definitely belongs in Bitcoin Discussion because this is an innovative new type of "service" and the announcement is significant to the Bitcoin ecosystem as a whole. I might have left discussion about the Foundation in Bitcoin Discussion too, but moving it to Service Discussion is fine, especially since Bitcoin Discussion was getting filled with Foundation-related topics.

As you can see, there was no censorship and ever since I got this instruction from theymos I left any thread that raised an important concern about Bitcoin Foundation in the Bitcoin Discussion. You can ask Atlas about that. And as far as I know no threads other than a poll were made sticky about Bitcoin Foundation.

Also any competing foundation threads were left in Bitcoin Discussion, even an announcement of an announcement of a competing idea that turned out to be nothing really was left there.

I suggest if you are going to raise issues, at least be honest and list complaints based on facts, not on fiction.

Best Regards,
hazek
Really? The moderators are now twisting words and the reality to their benefit?

You admit that it is "not entirely true.". However, what you have described achieves the same effect of what dree12 has stated.

Bitcointalk isn't a democracy unlike Bitcoin, but the moderation needs to be done in a fair and objective way, with conflicts of interests sorted out and not participating. Moderators needs to do what is best for Bitcointalk and Bitcoin, not for their personal interests.

I am not saying that this isn't happening or that all moderators are guilty of this, but some like pointed out in this thread definitely needs to reconsider. For example, if theymos were more aggressive and as you can see GLBSE failed, this can significantly impact the bitcoin economy - "Official bitcoin forum moderator promotes illegal scams, censors doubters" could be a headline for an article, and that will give new bitcoin users a bad first impression.
