701  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Project-X ||| Beta Closed ||| Cluster based Mining Contracts on: June 03, 2017, 10:56:17 PM
It would appear that no one is willing to help the dev with the heavy lifting and they are simply waiting around for the payouts.  The wallets stop syncing at times because I assume he has to stop his software long enough to implement the standard maintenance that the software and the hosting box need.
702  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Dwarven Bitmine - Upgrade your mine and earn up to 15 000 satoshi a day. on: June 03, 2017, 10:33:52 PM
Something is wrong for sure, been trying for like 10 minutes to start mining, every time I click the button I get redirected to http://cut-urls.com/h8by8rp  tried turning off extensions but still same.

Hmm, I can't find any script which might redirect or create pop-unders. We removed the pop-under. I am wondering of maybe on of the ads is going a bit crazy or so.
Is anyone else having the same issue?

Have you tried something stupid like dropping the adfly in an old fashioned iframe to separate it from the page and testing like that.  It does not seem like it would make a difference, but we used that to switch ad services and it caused other issues to go away for some reason.  It can at least give you a little more info about why the issue is occurring, maybe not.
703  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [PTOY] Patientory Healthcare on the Blockchain on: June 03, 2017, 10:15:23 PM
Fast update by email Thanks for that.
Trading on Bittrex, hitbtc and ICObazaar really great news!

this is incredible, need only 5 days for the crowdsale,,
and will be tradeable on bittrex, congrats for Ptoy team and all investors

At this point it is time to see what is going to happen once that mark is made.  It is kind of the like getting close to the end of the election and wondering how the promises of the elected official are going to be kept.  It can be hard to follow up on all of those things and at the same time it is a great feeling when you hit that first major milestone to success.
704  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Best ROI on USD for new and current mining setup on: June 03, 2017, 07:01:34 PM
Trying to start a small scale mining operation.

Currently have:
Gaming 3 Z170 Gigabyte
i7 6700k
16GB DDR4 3Ghz
Sapphire 390x running @ 400h/s with Claymore Equihash for ZCash mining
Corsair 750W 80+ Bronze

I will be removing all this from inside my desktop and installing it on a "mining rack" (aka: kitchen shelf) and upscaling the whole thing to start doing some more serious mining

Questions:
1- Should I go for Vega once it releases? What's the release date?
2- Is AMD ZCash mining the highest ROI today?
3- Will I be able to stick 5 Vegas and 1 390x on the Z170 with the F20 BIOS update?
4- Never modded any GPU BIOS, is it worth the risk? What efficiency change are we talking about?

Thanks for your time to read and help!

First off, do not ask the members here for financial help.  With a brand new account, they will assume that you are scamming and you will lose the attention and the tendril of trust that you have at the moment.  Secondly, read, read, read and read some more.  That is not that much to get started for mining and you need to ensure that by the time that you get rolling a little bit that you can afford to upgrade.
705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: cancel transaction on: June 03, 2017, 05:53:46 PM
i am using multibit hd.
how long should i wait before i try to repair my wallet?
i got same problem was ago, my tx was dropped by mempool, and it takes 48 hours, and funds come bank to sender wallet.
waiting is your option for now, but your funds is safe.

I would quickly double spend the amount.  That would, if nothing else, buy you some time.  Once you send coins, you can count on them to be gone and consider yourself lucky if you can stop it.  There are many ways to do this, but in the end, it is always possible that it will never happen.  Every block that goes by is another chance that it will get confirmed even more and more.
706  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Blocknet about to blow? on: June 03, 2017, 05:36:56 PM
That does not mean that the dev's are intending to steal, per se, simply that the site has not got the backing to make it and when they die, they may have spent on the reserves to try to survive and really, why would they not simply keep what they have left, everyone saw the end coming and kept their funds in there.
707  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: how dependent is ethereum from bitcoin on: June 03, 2017, 04:35:10 AM
I think Ethereum is independent from Bitcoin.  Ethereum has its own blockchain.  Aside from that it is intended to a different function, smart contract.  When it comes to trading, Ethereum is still independent from Bitcoin since Ethereum price can increase while Bitcoin price decrease or vice versa or both of them increase and decrease at the same time.
There are very few, if any, coins that are built as a side chain of Bitcoin.  There may be a few, I do not think so.  There are definitely more that are built on NXT and ETH itself.  There were a few coins that were created with the specific ability to host side chains with ease and these coins are known for the fact.
708  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: backup up wallets - are web based services deemed acceptable? on: June 02, 2017, 11:32:39 PM
Hi folks.

So, making multiple backups of bitcoin or ether wallets...if the wallet is encrypted, is it acceptable to store a backup on something like dropbox or google drive? Assuming a very strong password, what is the potential drawback of doing this?

Thanks.

I assume that you still have a few FIAT dollars lying around somewhere, probably a bank or vested as a credit line.  Take your bank account info for your FIAT account, including the account number, usernames for your online access and password, include relevant security info, like mother's maiden name or whatever and put all that into a text file.  Zip or Rar the file, whatever you choose and lock that with a 256 bit encryption.  Now, where ever you feel safe storing that file, you can store your Bitcoin wallet or whatever coin wallet there too.
709  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $0.85 transaction fee is absolutely ridiculous! on: June 02, 2017, 10:53:05 PM
I would rather see an option to set the fees on most TX's.  That would make people understand the right place for a fee to be, too small and the TX never gets confirmed, too high and why bother sending the money in the first place.  There is a happy place that most of us have found when it comes to fees and most of us will look at some transactions and know that there is no reason to even bother moving a tiny amount because it will get eaten up in fees.

710  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Help me understand the ownership and provenance of the technology behind Bitcoin on: June 02, 2017, 10:30:24 PM
Generally when talking about bitcoin, "Public keys" and "addresses" are not the same thing.  A version 0 address can be generated from a public key, but they are two different values.  One is used when spending the bitcoins, and the other is used when receiving them.

I want to clarify this -- and keep in mind that I have only used online wallets. Are you saying the public key is used for spending bitcoins (I thought it was the private key)? Frankly, I never saw any public keys or private keys. Apparently, coinbase keeps the customers wallet private keys secret -- so that coinbase can take advantage of their cold storage. Is a version 0 address the common type we see today? What is the version of the other common bitcoin address?

Neither public keys nor addresses are "temporary".  Public keys are "permanently" stored in the blockchain when used, and the information necessary to generate the address is also permanently stored in the blockchain when you receive bitcoins.
Apparently, I was digging myself a deeper hole of confusion here. I assumed an address was a public key. Thank you for correcting me on this. The additional reason I confused myself is because I noticed my address for receiving bitcoins would sometimes change for my online wallet.

For privacy and slightly increased security it is generally advised that you only use each address (and therefore each public key) only once, but that isn't enforced by the bitcoin protocol and many people choose to re-use that information for future transactions.

This must explain why coinbase generates a new address on my wallet for every transaction.

I know you can have more than one public key address attached to the same private key address.

This is false.

Each private key has only 1 associated public key.

Each public key has only 1 associated version 0 address.

Technically, each version 0 address is associated with an average of about 7.9 X 1028 different public keys. However, in reality only 1 of those public keys is ever known.
Does my coinbase wallet use several private keys? because coinbase generates a new address for every transaction.

You lost me on that last statement. Why is only 1 public key known to be associated with a Bitcoin address, when technically there are many associated public keys?

It is is not a perfect analogy, but it gets the point across.  Now, back to Coinbase and the new addresses you keep getting.  As the blockchain needs to remain anonymous, but a website cannot work without some user data, there has to be way to associate the wallet info with the web site client.  Most sites will give the new user a generated address when they request it or sign up and then that wallet info is paired with the user info in a DB on the web server.
711  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: One of many reasons why I love bitcoin on: May 31, 2017, 05:09:21 PM
Most of my time on the internet at least produces the introduction of new knowledge into my world.  There are times, more often than I care to admit, however, when a few hours will disappear jumping from one useless article or video to another.  I will look up something that I was interested in or that I needed info on and then find myself following one vaguely interesting link after another until I am so far from the original subject that no one could find there way back.  But with bitcoins now i always work online trading and services which involves bitcoin making my time spend valuable.
712  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tomorrow 31th May (Japan time) will open internet giant GMO Btc trading platform on: May 31, 2017, 04:53:31 PM
Not many people jump right in at the launch of these exchanges anymore.  There is a huge wall of trust that is impossible to get past these days.  When exchanges that were open for years bail and keep the cash, then not many people trust a brand new one.  It will take some time and that means supporting yourself within the site for that starting period.  That and dealing with the various pressures at the legal level.  Get past six months and an exchange might have a shot.
713  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Scrypt.CC | Scrypt Cloud Mining on: May 31, 2017, 04:26:06 PM
I am just wondering how long this is going to be discussed.  i understand that people lost coins and that can be a real pain, but the longer that everyone focuses on the past, the less time that is devoted to the future.  Maybe it is time to move on to the next investment/site or whatever.  That is the only way that anyone is going to "recoup", on their own, from another project.
714  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1 BTC = 250x fees then you will remain with 0 BTC on: May 31, 2017, 03:59:12 PM
I think people are extremely tense regarding this recent fee and unconfirmed Transactions hiatus, The fees are indeed large but this is in no way permanent I think, this crisis even started just few weeks ago, I'm sure solution would be reached in a month or so, And also the unconfirmed KB's are decreasing steadily (if you are checking chain.so), I guess they would stabilize later around 50000 KB, which wouldn't be that bad.

Accelerated confirmation and TX tools, sites and system are popping up left and right now.  This coin has finally gotten some direct face to face competition and it will be interesting to see where this goes.  Within the system that this coin has evolved, there is a compromise of the basic building blocks of crypto in order to get faster confirmation/approval times.
715  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin reduces unemployment on: May 31, 2017, 03:03:38 PM
I met an old friend in a restaurant January, 2017. Who happened to be my junior while in the university three years ago. I was surprised when he told me that he has never been invited for a job interview till date. I now asked him, how do you survive then without a paid job? He told me whether I have an idea about bitcoin? And I reply him, no sir. He then explain everything about bitcoin and crypto currency to me, and that he has three  account at legend level. From the three account, the amount of Satoshi he make from signature campaign is not less than FIFTEEN MILLION Satoshi in a month different from the profit he makes from trading crypto currency. And the black market value of Bitcoin in my country is about 50% increase of the international value. I believe bitcoin reduces unemployment.

It does reduces since some unemployed were able to make money and provide their living from btc, same wuth their earning more than a job salary they can earn.
That is very true because we are one of the proof for that or i can be a proof for that, my elder brother was earning at least $1,000 per month (Worth of US Dollar in our country) and i was making at least $2,000 and that was x2 of my brother's salary and when i try to tell it to him, he was not believing me until i show him my wallet that is receiving bitcoin and he was so shocked and immediately beg me to teach him.
I wouldn't call that "employment" though.  Online marketing still exists, it's just that the inefficiencies of the market result in signature campaigns paying higher.  Plus, the people who pay signature campaigns tend to earn Bitcoin instead of fiat currency, meaning that their payouts can stay consistent while the price rises.

If it is the official government issued “unemployment” numbers that you are looking at, those probably went up based on Bitcoin, because those that earned money through Bitcoin are likely not listed as as employed via statistics.
Lastly, online business owners increasing over time means fewer brick and mortar stores in some business sectors and that mean a few less jobs out there.  This is a small number, as new jobs types were also created, and companies like Amazon and shipping companies have seen huge increases in volume and hired more people to cover the increase, basically evening out the loses.

716  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was it due to Ransomware? on: May 31, 2017, 02:41:57 PM
I think that ransomware attacks are just a drop in the ocean of bitcoin; the recent attacks have little to nothing to do with the price boost we experienced recently.
I would be more prone to consider the growing interest into the crypto currencies of more people from all around the world as the main cause of the spike we witnessed.

Ransomware is no longer a new thing, it has appeared many times before, and it has survived so far. There are many hacker groups in the world, although their software is different, but they have all the same features, and they use bitcoin to get paid. It can be said that bitcoin has helped hackers steal money from others, but bitcoin is not the cause.

Ransomware is nowhere near as successful as people make it out to be.  The main thing that hurt this virus set of programs was the leak of the code.  When there was a smaller group deploying the virus, there was a higher percentage of people paying out.  The widespread ability to release your own ransomware ruined that virus for those that were using it.

The increased publicity, and the fact that most people knew that there was a fifty percent chance that your virus was deployed by an amateur, meaning that paying the fee was not likely to get anything fixed.  If the ransoms asked for are small, then the effect on the price of Bitcoin is negligible.  If the ransom is too high, then Bitcoin was never touched as the ransom was never paid.
717  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are you enjoying the crazy Bitcoin price rise? on: May 31, 2017, 01:56:34 PM
The btc price reach good amount then recently the value drops a bit because of that i lost some of my btc however thats part of investing in btc you should be prepared, im not greedy because before i enter in this kind of investment i know what to expect. just go with flow but if you cant take the pressure then better quit.

I personally think that the price pumps and dumps of recent are due to the fact that there are many people out there that only keep a passing interest in Bitcoin and may have not even looked at the price for the last six months.  That means that the last prices they saw were either in the $600 range or just hitting $1000.  They wander away six months and come back to a more than 100% increase and their interest goes from casual to fired, meaning more trading, more buying and more price changes.
718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CrowdSale Live] NVO Decentralized Exchange | Multi Wallet 🌟 Escrows 🌟 on: May 31, 2017, 01:24:00 PM
That's good to be a part of the successful campaign which is completely based on the decentralized platform and functioning in an effective manner just based on the support from the investors and the early bonus for the investors is quite good to make a big profit after the crowdsale.

You are right. This is one of the biggest crowdsale we are about to experienced. I think NVO Decentralized exchange project is the need of the hour as we need a single wallet which contains most of our altcoins . Currently we store our alts on exchanges where we have no control on private key. NVO offers storage with full control of private key, making it the securest and the best.
719  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BURST] Burstcoin | Efficient HDD Mining | New Version 1.2.8 | Assets | CFs on: May 31, 2017, 12:59:23 PM
Has anyone ever had issues using dropbox with plots?  When I first got started with Burst, I experimented with using Netdrive and various cloud storage services, mainly OneDrive, Dropbox and Google Drive.  I remember not having any issues at all after a short period of tweaking.  It was just an experiment and I went back to using our local hard drives because they are free and using more than the “free” amount of cloud services was going to increase the mining cost and the free amounts were too small to matter.

I will share my experience. I still have dropbox storing some business files and this week they emailed me with a ridiculous offer for “unlimited” storage.  It was still too high a price for mining Burstcoin, but I have started under trial conditions for our office, to be used next month.  So, when I got home I decided that since my business was covering the cost, I would try setting up some plots on dropbox using the same method as before.
