3101  Economy / Speculation / Re: Best time to sell? on: February 02, 2018, 10:20:17 AM
this question is even worse than "is it the right time to buy?"
it's up to you when it's time to sell, set yourself a goal like: 5%/10/100% of my investment and follow it, for sure, at the moment might be the best moment to sell if you bought at, for example, 2k$, that's a big gain compared to your investment.
None can answer you properly, decide by yourself, i would just want to advice you: if you sell everything now, are you able to jump on btc train again in the next future or you just want to sell and forget about crypto?

I agree. In the cryptocurrency market, there is actually no standard or specific time, which you may regard as the "best time to sell." I think instead of asking the time, what you should be looking at here is your investment or business objective. As you get your assets whether for trade or investment, passive or active, I am pretty sure that you have somewhat an idea in mind of what you want to do with it, which includes your profit plan. Thus, the best time to sell would be based on how much you need the money or profit for, in relation to how much capital you spent to get such asset. For example, like the above-mentioned reply said, if you feel that 5% gain is enough, then by all means, that would be the right time to sell. However, if you see that your asset have all the chances to gain, then I think that the better move is to wait until it gains some more.
3102  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin now below $10,000 on: February 02, 2018, 10:02:59 AM
I will just HODL. It is a bit unstable moment to buy more BTC because if something goes wrong once again it still may get even lower, now BTC is somewhere on the border. Most of this FUD was causet by the crash of Tether. Earlier at the point of 10k I've been expecting BTC to lose about 10% and  then start its recovery somewhere in march (the forecast is made based  on the last big dumps) so the general situation is still fitting my expectations.

I agree. This is the smartest move to do instead of selling it now due to fear of losing, and in return, actually lose a lot of money. Because for sure, many of the people who are holding bitcoin today bought it for either that value or maybe a little lower, thus, if you would sell it now, the profit margin would be too small, or worse, you would lose some of your capital because you would be selling it for a price lower than how much you bought it for. Also, I think that many people have expected this trend to happen because of how bitcoin surged a few months ago that was very uncanny. However, Bitcoin has the capacity to regain its value back, so just be patient and hold onto them Bitcoins.
3103  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to trade right and right? on: February 01, 2018, 06:33:53 PM
You can't trade so that you won't lose, that's like saying I want to invest in a stock and make money but I don't want to risk anything at all. It's impossible, as there is a chance at losing everything that you put in crypto at any time. That is why many say when you go ahead and put money in Crypto, you should be writing it off right then and there -- the volatility here could turn on us and kill all of the coins.

Though the only trading platform I could recommend is Polo and Binance, though as the guy above me said Binance isn't accepting new users right now (temporarily) But once they open up again I would run back to them as they're doing a wonderful job in the trading world.

Now if you want to know what to invest in, you're going to have to research your own coins -- don't trust ANYBODY. Everyone is out for themselves and is going to shill the coins that they own -- it's common sense and common knowledge among investors

I agree. The trading market is not always a "time in paradise" type of venture that there is a standard that could be implemented for you not to experience any loses. The cryptocurrency market is not like that, assets and coins may change in value at any time and at any moment, therefore, there will be times that even if you study every possible scenario and outcome hoping that one trade would be a good one, only to find out in the end that it will result to a loss. Also, since the changes and shifts in value may come abruptly there is not fool proof way to be immune to these changes and trends. The more you stay in the market, the more chances for you to gain a feel and knack to know what is a good or a bad trade. Sometimes, even if every aspect leads to say that it's a good trade, you would have that gut feeling that it won't, and that is of value too. There are so many things to consider.
3104  Other / Meta / Re: Merit system is not working, failed! on: February 01, 2018, 05:56:33 PM
You are right, not all the quality posts are being recognized by most of the people here in forum, the merit system will fail and im sure theymos would do something about this,as he promised he will adjust this when most of the new folks find it hard to get merits. The only good thing about the merit system is,most of the spammers lately are being forced to post quality contents for them to get some merit points.

I agree. Unfortunately, not all members in the forum who are posting or replying in threads are given their due share of merits even if they are really posting quality contents or materials. It's not that I am saying that the system is a failure, but it is not fair to those who are not recognized. Also, how about for those people who have "connections" that they have built over the years that can give them merits on a whim as compared to those starting up member who are just clawing their way to gain a higher rank. I think that there should be some tweeks on how the merit system works so that everyone can rightfully gain and rank up.
3105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Facebook Campaign no more!! on: February 01, 2018, 02:46:06 PM
I didn't see this coming because Facebook never usually turns down a quick bit of cash on a fad. Honestly it won't impact too much because you can just create good content to be shared by bounty campaigns or shared in groups.

Just really shooting themselves in the foot and losing some revenue. Personally I just think it is a marketing campaign to seem more moral after the whole Russia election scandal.

I agree. I think this may be a temporary move from Facebook. That's because I do believe, like the above-stated reply, that one of Facebook's main means of getting money is through marketing by exploiting the traffic of people that comes by their platform on a daily basis. I think what they trying to get rid of are the unwanted flooding of posts about ads related to ICOs that actually doesn't have to content to it posted by those joiners that just post just to complete their weekly quotas without thinking if their contents are of any use or not. I think once all that is filtered Facebook would allow ads again.
3106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Difference between Bitcoin and real money? on: February 01, 2018, 10:10:22 AM
Welcome to Bitcoin and to the Forum!

The questions you're asking are great ones. However, they're also questions that you can find answers to REALLY easily on this forum or Google. I'd encourage you to do some reading here and then come up with some more specific questions.

I can help get you started with some simple answers.

Why would I invest in bitcoin? All sorts of reasons ranging from pure curiosity to love of new technology to investment diversification. Bitcoin is used as currency to buy things and as a store of value, i.e., a place to house your savings with hopes of value appreciation or hedging against the depreciation of stocks or savings held in fiat currency. One example often used is that of Cyprus. Are you familiar with the country of Cyprus and it's severe monetary crisis from a few years back? It was so bad that the Cyprus government controlled how much money their citizens could take out of their banks. Think about that. That government telling you that you can't access your very own money! How scary is that? Bitcoin offers an alternative. No government (currently) can seize control of your bitcoin, this represents safety and security.

What's the difference between bitcoin and dollars? Bitcoin isn't regulated by any government. It isn't created "out of thin air" as fiat currency is. There will only ever be a finite amount of bitcoin, which controls it's value. Once all bitcoin is mined there will be 21 million in existence, that's it. No one can ever create more (as is done every year with fiat currency). When fiat currency is created by central banks they reduce the value of the existing currency in the market, which results in inflation of prices. This is why the price of every day things (that haven't changed in 50 years, like groceries or utilities) have gone up in price over time. There's a lot of other differences, but it's better for you to read up on them.

Why would I gamble with bitcoin? I don't, but if you want to you can gamble for significantly smaller portions of money (like cents as opposed to dollars or tens of dollars). And you can do it from the convenience of your computer.

Here are a few links for you to explore:

Feel free to respond with other questions. I think you'll get better response if you educate yourself a bit first and then come back with more specific questions.

Have you bought any bitcoin yet? Do you have a wallet yet? (If you don't, PM me and I'll set you up and give you some bitcoin)

Good luck to you!

Thank you for the post mate. It is really informative, and it has so many useful information that even to seasoned ones, it can still be useful. To simplify, I think the main difference of money and cryptocurrencies, or Bitcoin to be specific, is its backing. Money is usually backed by the government through their reserves. That is why the inflation in terms of money is always controlled because there are so many factors that could help it keep its value. While cryptocurrency is a new technology that is not sustained by reserves, but is support through blockchain technology. It is an e-currency that can stand on its own. That is why the value may be volatile and may come up or down at any time and point because it doesn't have the traditional support from a government. On the other hand, like any currency it can be used in the same way, but it could be more closely compared to a wire transaction that your traditional hand to hand exchange of money.
3107  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do You looking for in ICO? on: February 01, 2018, 09:55:08 AM
The most important usually:

1. Famous Developers in Team
2. Interesting Idea
3.Apha version of project

I agree. If I may just add another factor which is duration. Developers and Management team should be given premium because they are the ones that have the objective on what to do with the project. They have and lay out their plans short term and long term on how to make the project successful, and to an investor, that's important information if the project would have a hard working team behind it. Idea is another important factor because there have been so many ICOs out and coming out of the market, thus, the idea of the technology, product or concept to market and sell is basically becoming limited by the day. Thus, if you struck upon a project that is new, then go for it because it has more room and potential to be embraced by people compared to those old ones in the market.
3108  Local / India / Re: India may ban Bitcoin on: February 01, 2018, 09:40:14 AM
Declaring bitcoin illegal isn't small step. Government needs to provide suitable evidence in regards of its decision which I don't believe government is competent of. However on the same note I am sure enough government won't even declare it legal as government seems to have clear cut negative attitude towards bitcoin since it is obstacles in government's fight against black money. So on whole, in my views bitcoin will continue as it is and this is best in our interest.

That's right. It would have a lot of repercussions that would actually bring about more negative stuff that good stuff. The Bitcoin, or in general, the cryptocurrency market, is such a big market that yields great profit. It has exhibited how it can increase one country's economy, capital stock and global transactions, which ultimately helped their economies prosper to greater heights. Also, since India inclining on technology and communication as one of its main means of business, cryptocurrency ventures are right around their alley. It could be a big asset for them if they just embrace it and find a way to actively utilize it.
3109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethurum or ripple on: February 01, 2018, 09:25:02 AM
Choose Ethereum, Ethereum's price is increasing and stable. Ripple is also the Top Altcoins but the value is low but also stable.
Ehtereum still deserve to be invested due  to it's stability and scalability.
Although they're both Top Altcoins but still Ethereum is the clear winner when it comes into profit.

That's right. Although the suggestion is good. I would like to add that it depends on the type of investment the person wants to follow through. Ripple is more suitable for short term investments. You can buy it for a lower price, but the return, although substantial if done in large quantities, are just enough to keep you collecting instead of not having any profit at all. On the other hand, Ethereum, amongst all altcoins, is a more stable asset, like the reply said, that could be better used for long term investments. Thus, my answer would depend on that. But, generally, Ethereum is my choice. Smiley
3110  Local / Pilipinas / Re: What causes the bitcoin price to go up/down? on: February 01, 2018, 09:09:57 AM

That may be a reason; however, I think that the main reason why bitcoin's value is going either up or down is mainly dependent on its usage rate. As more and more people do transactions with it, it can add more traction to increasing its value. However, now, since the prices are going down, many people are somewhat forced to hold onto their Bitcoins that lessens deals, trades, transactions and other activities that could help for its value to recover and increase. Another one is competition, there are so many up-and-coming altcoins nowadays that the competition they exhibit is really tight. Since they are increasing in value, and their technologies are gaining more attention from people, the assets being held by people are diversified unlike before when Bitcoin is the only leading coin.
3111  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Philippine News about cryptocurrency on: February 01, 2018, 08:40:07 AM
About two days ago, naging balita po na ang  ating Central Bank ay nakatanggap ng 12 applicatin ng mga exchanges, ganun na kaganda or kadami ang demands dito sa bansa natin, according din po sa data nila ay around $6Million na po ang nagiging transaction natin monthly. A good news para sa lahat, sa tingin niyo po ba magiging daan na to para maencourage na ang ating gobyerno na ilagay din to sa stock markets?

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/philippine-central-bank-reviewing-12-bitcoin-exchange-applicants/

Good read, and honestly, I have been waiting for this in a long time. I think that it has been a long time coming that the Philippine Central Bank and other business entities in the country recognize the legitimacy of cryptocurrency as a good asset that can actually do a lot of good changes in our current trade and investment market systems. If we could have just done this earlier on; we could have reaped more harvest like other countries who pioneered with embracing cryptocurrencies.
3112  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why aren't there more women in Bitcoin? on: January 25, 2018, 02:01:23 PM
Take a look around the crypto community, both in meatspace and online, and it would be fair to say that the majority of participants are male. This is borne out in a recent survey of 2,000 Americans which shed light on the makeup of the bitcoin space, highlighting a stark gender divide. In fact Google Analytics data estimates less than 4% of bitcoin users to be female. The question is, why?

Source: https://news.bitcoin.com/why-arent-there-more-women-in-bitcoin/?utm_source=Why
I dont think if women interesting in this kind of work. because we know that only few used bitcoin as you say there are only 4% of bitcoin users in the world that female. i think because it is in online and they think it scam or just bored and we know that men was more got interesting in one thing if we have gain in it and we know that women was do shopping in one things before it they got interested. we male was more on the online and as an male i fond in this kind of work that female think it is boring.

You can say that; however, I think that there is no real and accurate statistic about that. I mean, in this world today, women are equally as aggressive in business or means to earn as men because of the every changing and increasing need for money not only for everyday needs, but also, for future savings allocated for education, health care emergencies and other instances that might need money. Therefore, even if men usually have the knack to explore money-making activities, or at least have some extra work on the side, I think there are also some women that have been avid supporters and promoters of the cryptocurrency market.
3113  Other / Meta / Re: What do you think about the new rules (merit) of the Bitcointalk forum? on: January 25, 2018, 01:15:06 PM
In my opinion, this new rules is really helpful for Bitcointalk forum.
It will reduce the emergence of spam and shitpost but merit for newbie might not be friendly, because when they just know block chain and BTC, they difficult to make high quality reply. And the new rules still have a lot of problems. Does anyone give merit to others?Even if I make a high-quality response.

I do too. I think it's good since the purpose of the new rules is to actually urge people to post better contents in threads or through their replies. However, I am just unsure of the merit aspect being given by users; I don't know about other people, but I have noticed in my months of posting here that many people don't give much attention to the replies or posts of other people, therefore, since the merit system is based on the person appreciating a content, and giving justice to it by giving a merit point, would be difficult to achieve because not very many would even check on the contents of the posts they see, more so spend the time to actually give merits for it. I am just hoping that ranking up wouldn't become so difficult because of the indifference in giving merits some people may do.
3114  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Bitcoin need to be taxed? on: January 25, 2018, 01:00:12 PM
Base from my recent post "Does bitcoin could be call a job?" I have read your opinions regarding to that. Doing these things is a form of earning money basically we have income. So does it need to be taxed? Because this is also a source of income, and we might call it as a job?

I don't agree. Since your premise is the "need" of it being taxed. I think that there is no need to do that; however, what urges countries and governments to do that is the fact that the cryptocurrency market has been unfolding to be a big-earning market. At first, many are quite doubtful and negative about it, with some countries even threatening to ban any activity related to it. However, since the past year, there has been a great attention and focal shift to the cryptomarket that helped in introducing the advantages it can bring to the global trade and investment market scene. Having said, many countries are seizing the chance to strike while the iron is hot and try to impose taxes on it, or at least, in parts they can to add some revenue to their government to improve their local economies. As they say, the government in each country is the strongest and leading business entity, thus, finding ways to earn more is always their priority, which can be done through taxation.
3115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: what is your plan? on: January 25, 2018, 12:45:15 PM
By plan i mean when do you plan to cash out. Is it when you have made enough to buy a car, a house maybe? or are you setting your sights higher?

Personally i'd just like to own my own home, after that i would just play with spare change.

I think I would somehow say the same and cash out gradually, if not, in a few months basis. I actually ventured into the cryptocurrency market o have a sort of a part-time job, where I can do something that could help me earn extra. I have a full-time job right now, and the only time I can give to all my cryptomarket activities is my free time off work. Therefore, if I find a part-time job that's also time and energy consuming, it won't jive well with my full-time job because it's already a bit demanding. I am studying as well. So I need to juggle a lot of things while being in the constant need for funds; I am hopeful that my ventures would do me good in the future.
3116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is still Ok to invest in Etherium on: January 25, 2018, 12:15:30 PM
I think eth is one of the most promising coins. The rising price of Ethereum will continue but I doubt that it will happen rapidly. For experienced investors more attractive are the new undervalued coins. They can show very large growth rates. But it is very risky for beginners.

I agree. Thus, I would highly suggest that it is a good idea to invest in Ethereum. Since the onset of the cryptocurrency market and the rise many different altcoins, Ethereum has been one of those coins that has proven great endurance and reliability as it was able to stand its ground during all those negative times when most altcoins are slowly falling off, if not, dying out. Even during the time last year when bitcoin surged and most altcoins are really having a hard time, Ethereum was able to keep its value and not be affected so badly unlike other coins. Also, just recently, there are so many good stuff going for Ethereum that helped it increase in value, although just small steps, but at least it's growing.
3117  Economy / Economics / Re: Many new rich people are created from Bitcoin on: January 25, 2018, 11:16:07 AM
bitcoin prices continue to rise as this is one of the causes of increased bitcoin users, whose goal is to change a much better standard of living, give your feedback on this?

I think that's true. In so many countries around the world including mine, many young people who sky-rocketed their assets and became rich were found to venture in many different activities in the cryptocurrency market. I think the fact that you can actually join in it and do ventures as well without any heave requirement was the defining factor why many people seemingly struck gold and became rich in no time. The ease of doing jobs through campaigns, via trading or even investing can all be possibly self-taught, which means, if you just pour in the effort and work, it wouldn't be too far-fetched for you to earn big money and become rich.
3118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Still believe in ICO ? on: January 24, 2018, 09:13:19 PM
ICO is a very risky investment it was clear from the outset. Every month more than 30 new ico do you think that they will all live? Of course 95% of coins after ico will die immediately after listing, but the rest will live and brings a profit to investors.

That's right. But, even though that is the prevailing fact about ICOs; I totally believe that there still good left in it, and thus, venturing in it is not a bad move at all. I think as people who join in the campaigns, it's just part of our duty to actually study and take a look at the background and other supporting information to avoid joining those projects that are doomed to fail and yield no profit at all. Also, I think by checking on the projects' backgrounds you are safeguarding yourself from scams and schemes designed to take advantage of people, which is the main reason why many people have already lost faith in ICOs.
3119  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So Bitcoin is better than Gold? on: January 24, 2018, 08:57:12 PM
So Bitcoin is better than Gold? Roll Eyes
Wake me up when you can transfer $1 billion worth of gold for $2 in ~10 minutes from any to any location of the world. Roll Eyes

Stop convincing people that bitcoin is better than anything not only gold, I can't afford to buy a single coin ever since price jumped from $1100 to $1800 Sad I didn't realized then but now I'm not telling anyone about bitcoin any more, because I've realized that I've found a gold mine and what an idiot I was to shout about it every where.
Bitcoin becoming mainstream and with 50K transactions per second in the future as we all know is inevitable but we must take advantage while is in infancy stage.

Btw, is it $2000 which you can take cash out of a country when you travel by airplane or was it $10,000?

I agree. Although bitcoin definitely holds the higher price point amongst the two, but in terms of value, gold still has that title and advantage over bitcoin. The main difference here is the reliability and the volatility aspect. I have said in past posts that the volatility feature of cryptocurrencies are double-edged swords, it may do good, but at the same time, it may also do bad. Unlike gold, it has stabilized and has been accepted in such a way that people are comfortable with it as an asset. It can be sold for good value, and its value has always been high and is commonly not affected by outside market trends anymore. One indication that gold has reached that valuable state is that even if the amount of gold circulating in the market increases, its price doesn't actually change much.
3120  Other / Archival / Re: Why to Invest in ICO? on: January 24, 2018, 08:39:26 PM
Why people invest in ICO when it is risky and these days most of the coins are dropping. Do you think ICOs are going to survive for a long time?

The main purpose of investing is to expect something in return later on. People invested on ICO's because no doubt that it will really give an interesting return in the future. Any investments is risky that's why if you not understand how ICO projects goes well then better not to invest.

Will ICO's be here actively all the time ? Well as long as crypto world is showing good support from the community, there will be more ICO's around that will popped out every now and then.

That true. I mean, why would you even bother to invest or put your fund in something if it's not your end goal to gain profit from it. Actually, I would say that investing in ICO would be a risky business. I think that the market is so much susceptible now to failing projects than success; however, I think that there is still hope, as an investor, you should make sure to choose those project that have new concept, if not, good products that people have higher chances of patronizing. That support from people would surely transcend to a better chance of reaching the funds they need to push the business forward. Just be critical and detailed when studying the projects you plan to join in.
