121  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ISIS Strips Children Naked – Sells Them at Slave Auction Then Rapes Them on: May 10, 2015, 07:49:00 AM
Can't help but wonder why anyone would want to fund ISIS, except for those who benefit from war and wartime planning.
122  Economy / Services / Re: Any shadow or silhouette artist around here? on: May 08, 2015, 11:29:57 PM
I don't believe there's a such thing as a shadow or silhouette artist; most visual artists should be capable of doing this.  You can find my info in the thread in my sig.

125  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Baltimore burns. Why? on: May 08, 2015, 01:45:13 AM
So in order to hold officers accountable I purpose the solutions that I read about in an article on zero-hedge start hitting them where it hurts the most... their pocketbook.  Taking money from their paychecks and their pensions this will ensure that other officers will police each other when their all held responsible as a department for the bad officers actions.

You should investigate this new technology called "the market", it basically does this except it's p2p so you don't need an expensive middleman political system to sort out who gets money taken from and why.
126  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Corporations reminding us to vote in UK elections today? why? on: May 07, 2015, 09:07:16 AM
Corporations exist solely because the state grants them the title; this should be the only association you need to see why one would advocate the other.  It's a mutually beneficial relationship they share; the greater the reach of the political force, the greater the reach of the corporation.  It doesn't matter who you vote for, all that matters is that you believe in the political system, that, if you can just get the right people in charge, the world will be fixed; this further enables the corporation to eliminate competitors and get closer to monopoly status.

Of course, the reality is, the idea of a republic is millennia old with no innovations and the same flaws that plagued so many republics of the past are plaguing the republics of today, the issue being: elected officials abuse their power for personal benefit until either the republic is overthrown or the nation is weakened enough by the political leeches to get conquered by a stronger political force.  The only people the elected officials answer to are the voters, and if the voters ever believe they can't change things without the political process, it's game over: the political process is believed necessary to existence and to overthrow even a heavily corrupted government is understood to be suicide.  Boom: the door for abuse slams against the wall with a crack and the evil flows right the fuck in.

It's an abusive relationship; say there's this girl with this guy, and the guy says, if she ever leaves him, she'll be nothing, she'll be dead, she can't leave him no matter how badly he treats her because the alternative is non-existence.  And things aren't all that bad, you see; she still gets fed, entertained, and has a roof over her head, which beats starving and living out in the wild.  So why change?  She's comfortable, the beatings aren't all that bad, and who knows what'll happen if she leaves?  Maybe there really is nothing out there, maybe she will starve or die without her man; maybe she really is worthless without him, as he keeps telling her.  When you believe your entire existence is dependent on just this one person, you will stick with them, no matter what.  That's why things are so bad today: societies are the broads with black eyes who won't leave states bearing stained wife-beaters; everyone, EVERYONE knows this situation is fucked up, at least on some level of consciousness, but nobody's doing anything about it: they're comfortable.

128  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [Poll] what do you think about indonesian government's policy of executing drug dealers? on: April 30, 2015, 11:02:26 PM
Agree with the last two, they're just murdering people; killing someone over trade is barbaric and inhumane, no matter what's being traded; even just fines are unacceptable, the action is non-violent and beneficial to both parties by its very nature.  All drug dealers do is supply a demand, and so long as there's the supply (point A, the drug lords) and demand (point B, the drug users), there will be these middlemen who get the drugs from point A to point B.  This law will make the trade more expensive and risky, but the demand and the supply aren't going anywhere, so all they do is raise the price since finding willing & more experienced (to avoid detection) middlemen will be much more difficult.  The only way to raise the price high enough for this to finally discourage completely is for the state to be all-encompassing and omnipotent--it must become totalitarian, think Orwellian levels of governing, to which there's no way to avoid detection anymore, your entire life is monitored to ensure you do no wrongdoing.

AND STILL that's not going to stop the market, it simply cannot be done.  You can turn the whole thing black (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_Union ), but so long as there's desire or need, it's going to happen.  All this law does is make things harder on everyone (increased crime due to black market status, since trade is taken care of by, drum roll please...criminals), make things esp. harder for the drug users (who are the only ones who can truly stop the drug trade), while giving the state increased ability to kill its own civilians, so I hope the Indonesian court system is perfect because inevitably someone innocent is gonna get accused of dealing and get the guillotine, whether by another civilian or by the state itself seeking to eliminate whatever unwanted individuals.

So even if you have complete contempt for drug users, you're not going to stop it even with the threat of death.  As is usual when it comes to politics, the only true solution is outside of its scope; as it turns out, applying violence liberally over a non-violent situation winds up making things worse, whoever could have guessed?  Who, in the thousands of years of using this as the solution to everything and having it backfire, could have ever known? Shocked

In pretty much every nation, there are laws against murder, and yet murder still occurs; the threat of prison or even death does not stop wrongdoing, all it has is the presumption that "wihout it, things would be a lot worse," like everyone's just a stupid animal until law enforcers come around, like everyone's a psychopathic killer without the threat of legal action to stop them from slaughtering others at will; funny enough, none of the other animals do this, but apparently human intelligence also makes us murderous machines, according to law.  Legalism does not cure an ailing society (in fact it's an indicator of illness), all it does is provide the illusion of order; a society is just a collection of individuals, and if some of those individuals are not doing well--bad upbringing, chemical imbalance, or whatever it is--they will start doing things looked down upon (rape, killing, drugs, et al), no matter what is legal or illegal, no matter what the legal consequences of breaking the law, as is clearly observable today with all the killers, rapists, and drug users around despite all being illegal; they're around because, as said, the state is not all-encompassing so it cannot know who is or is not doing drugs, it's pointless to stop something without complete control over its citizenry (and even then it doesn't work because perfect control is impossible.)

Legalism is primitive, supported only by people who refuse the scientific method, for had they not, they would see how it doesn't work and only hurts everyone as time goes on.  Killing people over trade is just a testament to its primitive nature, it's hard to imagine anything less civilized.

I had a PSP 1000, jailbroken so it could play emulators and ISOs off the mem stick.  Had to sell it for various monetary reasons however; miss the thing, even tho the trigger was messed up.
130  Economy / Services / Re: Looking for a pixel artist on: April 27, 2015, 01:27:12 AM
These things take time to make; 0.10 is roughly 20$, each character sheet will take around an hour or two a piece; for ten characters, let's say that's about 10 hours of work, minimum.

Which means you're seeking to pay 2$ an hour, assuming your artist rushed.  Would you want to work for someone at 2$ an hour?  With no benefits or provisions as you would normally get in a regular job?

Let's say you paid 0.5, about 100$, which translates to 10$ an hour, still without anything on top of that; still a professional will not accept this rate, because they still need to pay for their own supplies, electricity, etc, which is expensive.  Once you get into the 30+$/hr range, then you'll find someone willing to provide quality work, and even that's really cheap, relatively speaking.

Considering your budget, if you take care of the programming, you'll be better off partnering up with an artist and splitting the profits; there's no way you can afford an artist that'll do any game justice, least of all the kind of game you seem to have in mind, I assume some kind of RPG or something similar which is graphic intensive.

132  Economy / Economics / Re: Video: Paul Tudor Jones II: Why we need to rethink capitalism on: April 22, 2015, 12:29:45 AM
This guy is completely full of shit.  Capitalism is not a political system, as stated in the definition he provides in the beginning; I don't know where he got it, but here's the definition in the free dictionary:

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/capitalism
Quote
cap·i·tal·ism  (kăp′ĭ-tl-ĭz′əm)
n.
An economic system in which the means of production and distribution are privately or corporately owned and development occurs through the accumulation and reinvestment of profits gained in a free market.

And another

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/capitalism?s=t
Quote
noun
1.
an economic system in which investment in and ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange of wealth is made and maintained chiefly by private individuals or corporations, especially as contrasted to cooperatively or state-owned means of wealth.

Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capitalism
Quote
Capitalism is an economic system and a mode of production in which trade, industries, and the means of production are largely or entirely privately owned.

None of the definitions here say anything about politics either: https://www.wordnik.com/words/capitalism

Where does Paul get the idea that capitalism has ANYTHING to do with politics?  AFAICT not even Marx called capitalism a political system.

Combine this with the fact that Paul founded a corporation--a public entity, at least partially--and runs a hedge fund, and dares call the freakshow of the last few decades "capitalism", it's pretty obvious that he's got malintent and wants only to confuse and divide the public, which does very well for the wealthy to continue their horseshit while people try to get their shit together.  What an evil piece of fucking ass.  And fuck TED for allowing this to occur at all.  "Rethink capitalism," yeah he's rethinking capitalism all right, to whatever he claims capitalism to be.

Common saying: house always wins.  Given enough time, you'll always come out negative.  My advice is to not gamble this way; if you're gonna gamble, you may as well put your money into business, at least it's not totally random then.
134  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why the Libertarian Party is Hurting Liberty on: April 21, 2015, 11:26:12 PM
Politics and liberty are diametrically opposed: one frees, the other limits.  I'm sure the LP is well meaning but, as with anyone who lives with a political-centric mindset, they're naive; only thing the LP would be able to do is either slow/halt the state or repeal law, and the latter is just impossible--the state is like a business, and none of the business's many wealthy benefactors are going to accept less influence.  These men don't play by the rules, they make the rules for the naive to abide by, which is why they have the power and those who play by the rules do not, but wind up, at best, as enforcers of the rules.

Anyway, a silly article written by a silly person: once again, anarchism is misunderstood as some impossible ideal where some centralized use of force is necessary for survival because "we don't live in a perfect world with perfect people"--but perfect enough to maintain a centralized monopoly over the use of force, apparently, because that's always worked out peachy right?  Oh what's this, a piece of paper limiting the power of government, enchanted by almighty Zeus no less?  Oh wow where have I heard this one before...oh that's right, back in the 1700's, a time where slavery was still a-ok, used with a nation that became the greatest force against liberty known to date, which wound up getting ignored in the end anyway.  Goddamnit, Jeff, just get a fucking gun and do your own dirty deeds if you really feel force is a good thing, stop supporting the enslavement of those around you just so you don't have to sort out your own conflicts and apparent bloodlust.  Oh, and this is just the icing on the cake:

First "out of the Matrix" experience I had from a movie was from the Zeitgeist series by Peter Joseph; much of it is great, the economic philosophy complete garbage however.
136  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Welcome to Liberland, Europe’s Brand New Country! Taxes 'Optional', No Military! on: April 21, 2015, 10:49:13 PM
These guys are all very naive; this nation is a joke (much like sealand), it's founded in an area where not much economic activity will occur due to constant flooding (why none of the larger political entities surrounding want it), and even if there was, they'd get sucked into the neighboring nations very easily since, even if they had a military, it wouldn't match up to a larger nation's military.  Not even larger nations are completely sovereign; America says jump, many smaller nations ask "How high?"

Anyway, cool display of protest nonetheless; I'm sure they'll get to keep their spot since it's not gonna be a threat to any existing power structures, plus the added bonus of people believing they're freer than they really are: "just look, you can go make your own nation too if you wanted, it'll just suck really bad so you may as well stay put."
137  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Q: Is it better for a child to be born or to be loved? on: April 21, 2015, 07:33:30 PM
Doesn't really matter; what matters is whether or not we should force others to do as we wish of them.  I say, if you will abort, then abort; if you will raise a child, raise a child; people individually decide what is better for them given the circumstances and taken responsibility over these decisions they make.  If someone has a problem with someone who aborts, they are always free to disassociate; if someone has a problem with someone who will always birth, they are too free to disassociate; what we shouldn't do is make-believe that there's a one-size-fits-all solution to everything and everyone, like there's a single right answer to millions of lives in millions of unique situations.

But I agree with you, the idea that people collectively own each other is ancient and needs to be abandoned if we'll ever improve as a global society; people should retain complete ownership over themselves and the effects of their actions.  This extends beyond just choice/life of course; the entire idea of a nation state is that one citizen has the right to determine the actions of another.  Even in a democracy, the supposed ideal society as asserted by many, the majority maintains ownership over the minority, so it should come as no surprise that people raised all their life with the belief that they own a stock in their neighbor's lives feel they have a stock in their offspring as well; if a democratic republic is to be taken seriously, your neighbor literally does own a piece of your offspring and can call them theirs, even if only partially.
138  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Liberland on: April 21, 2015, 03:13:16 PM
This news was reported on national TV in my country, so this is not just another stupid joke.
In fact, Liberland is my neighboring country and because there is no final agreement on borders, this territory does not belong to anyone.
So, I think that this kind of news show the desire of people to get rid of the constraints of classical State and Government and live in freedom, which is not bad tendency.

Not bad indeed, but the question is how the state will react?

Violently, the only way it can react

If I knew, I'd tell you lol
