301  Economy / Speculation / Re: A whale took profits for the first time since 2010 sold 1000 Bitcoins on: March 06, 2024, 08:34:56 PM
I doubt it that person it's all that he's got. Yes, 1000 Bitcoins sure are a lot of holdings but if he's been there since the early days of Bitcoin, it's possible that he's got more on his stash and he's kept a lot of it ready to be sold in the market and preparing for his retirement. I think that if there are dormant accounts and bitcoins that have been sold in the market, whoever holds it deserve the money that he's gonna have. But the thig is, these medias are making it look like it is a scary thing when an old account starts moving those bitcoins into exchanges as if it's not a normal thing to hold for a long time and send them to the exchange for that person to profit. And if that person can afford to sell 1k bitcoins, I am pretty sure that he's gonna wait for some more to release the other bitcoins that he's stacked for a very long time.
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Just a friendly Bitcoin friend reminder - High price = more scams on: March 06, 2024, 07:15:45 PM
If you can dispose that email where you've been receiving constantly scam and phishing attempts that's much better. Because it is not going to stop once your email has been on the hands and database of these scammers. They'll keep sending you attempts everyday until they get tired and not just that, if they pass on your email or their database to another scammer, they'll just rinse and repeat the process and that's why we've been receiving spam emails from these unknown people. Once your email has been exposed and recorded by these people, you'll always see them on your inbox. That's why it's best to separate your personal email, your crypto email and other stuff that you with such registrations.
303  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy Buy Buy or Sell Sell Sell? on: March 06, 2024, 11:33:50 AM
Ive been hearing about situations where someone buys a coin for a certain rate and not quite long after,  the said coin drops in value, or  someone sells his coin for a certain rate and then it appreciates just after.
What's your take on this? Given the period we're in is it buy time or sell time?
That's the normal thing in the market. You buy when you're able to buy and decide until how long you're going to hold it. And the same goes for selling, you sell at the rate that you're satisfied and no matter what happens next will be out of your control. You have no control over the market so if you sell and then suddenly it pumps, what's the matter with that? You'll regret because you've sold too early? That's normal because not everyone that sells are selling at the top and no one knows if it's the top already. That's why plan all of your activities whether you'll buy or sell, as long as you're able to plan that, no regrets afterwards for any decision that you do.
304  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I don't understand you people... on: March 05, 2024, 11:31:04 PM
When I see that the price is flying down steeply, I sell everything and let it fall down. When it stops, then I buy cheap and I have earned...
Actually, this is good on your end because you know what to do and you just have to rinse and repeat this strategy of yours and you'll never know how rich you'll be ending up from doing it so on this market.

BTC is going down now, so let it go and buy when it stops. We can all make money from it and then we will again get it up together!
And while us the holders, just do nothing but to watch everyone get liquidated and do their hustle and bustle in action.

Unfortunately, there are always a few "geniuses" who go against the flow and they are buying when they should be selling, and that destroying everyone's earnings...
We can't blame them for that. We are geniuses in our own paths and ways. If that's what they've done and this is the first time they encounter this bull run, that's understadable. But if you've been sitting here for years and you still do that mistake, it's your mistake to correct and that's still not a shameful thing because no one can easily win against this market but base on your experience and decision making.

I'm seriously upset because a couple of such  " smart "  people just ruined my chance to make up for a 15k loss... I would like to kick them somewhere!
LOL, just be grateful that you're on the right path doing the right thing instead of making significant loss that others are still trying to recover with.
305  Economy / Speculation / Re: Patterns to the halving Changed | New investors fate? on: March 05, 2024, 09:16:22 PM
My question is: what's the fate of late investors?
Does this new price or trend that seems to evade the usual of a bullish trend after the halving affect anything significantly?
It will make them even more exciting because they see the change that instead of there's a need to wait for a year, the change and impact of it happened before the halving. ETFs are the game changer now and they have added more capitalization to Bitcoin and as well as the demand which even helped it out that we've seen these high prices again without the halving yet.

My guess would be to expect a fairly typical timeline - same pattern, just came early thanks to the ETFs. So now I'd expect a bull peak in the next 12 months, and 2025 to be the crash year instead of 2026. But time will tell.
Typically, it goes 3rd-4th quarter but that makes sense if we are this early. It's possible that by next year, we'd see the crash on late 2026. That's possible but you're right, only time will tell and all of these changes that we're seeing are unexpected.
306  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥🔥🔥 BC.GAME - CASINO AND SPORTSBOOK | $1,000 GIVEAWAY LIVE! 🔥🔥🔥 on: March 05, 2024, 07:55:08 PM
Possible that in some parts that a certain website is blocked by the ISP and in where you're located, it's accessible. But as bc.game was able to solve this problem by providing several mirror links that are really helpful for users that deal with this kind of problem.

I use Brave to cross-check whether it's me, my ISP or the service I want to access in general. Brave allows you to start new tabs via a Tor integration, so you can definitely rule out local and ISP problems.
Me either and if that's enough, there are other browsers that I can use as well but it seems that everything is working out for him now through the mirror links.

Yup! I agree this is nation that we call India is so big that ISP are now slow. It is also a possibility that ISPs are now fed up with blocking websites. The government and the party ruling now is not so good with crypto. The next problem that India is facing is money laundering. I think that might be the reason why for some the casino access is banned while I can still visit it.
All have the possibility as long as it involves the ISP and the government. But this is all good now mate, good thing that bc.game has its supported mirror links for troubles like this and everyone can still enjoy to have access if there are accessing problems from the main website.

307  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: BC.Game account locked?! on: March 05, 2024, 01:46:40 PM
I don't have any answer from them! I just can't login:

https://iili.io/JVBcO0b.png

I sent email 4 days ago and I got no answers...

My USDTC acc is 0x590C8d92750F44E388666F01e2769d670f636F35 in case the bc support op can solve it
If you've sent those asked details by the support 4 days ago, you should ask them some follow up on how's your concern doing right now. The instructions and conditions being asked on that chat by the support representative will help you solve your problem but this time, follow it up and ask some updates about it if you've sent and provided them already all of those information.
308  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Ledger S Plus Firmware and Ledger Live Update? on: March 05, 2024, 11:09:19 AM
At the moment, I do not have access to my seed phrase where I am located.  Thus you never do a firmware update when you don't have access to your seed phrase right?  I mention that I travel so because of that, I don't have access to my seed phrase.  So there would be no issue still using the nano ledger s plus as is right?
You're not required to have your seed phrase if you want to update your firmware. As I haven't updated yet my firmware as well, what if the process will require you to write some of it? I wouldn't even have the guts to update the firmware when my seeds are not around me. My experience long time ago when the firmware update failed, I have to restore it through my seeds. Are you in a hurry? Why not just go home and have your seed phrase and do the firmware if you want to just to be safe?
309  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Mistakes?? on: March 05, 2024, 09:36:16 AM
What you need to avoid is the influence of other people with your decision making. Whether you wanna buy or sell, it should be you that must have the last decision. It's okay to gather and survey people what they're up to when you have something in your mind that you aren't sure of. That's a normal thing to canvas people and ask for their opinion about what you are unsure of or with a topic or thing that you haven't understand clearly. But even with that, never ever let someone influence you just because they've said something good or bad with that. Always verify the answers and opinion of people or contemplate before you follow those guides that have been given to you especially on this market that's all about investing and your money.
310  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seed and hardware wallets on: March 04, 2024, 09:00:56 PM
It seems to me that being able to review restoration words is very important for a beginner, as you don't always have the right reflexes at first.
If this is a matter of personal eyesight and reflexes of eyesight and coordination with hand, I know what you mean here and not everyone can clearly look at it. But worry not because there is no time or shot clock like a ticking bomb for you to write and save those seeds/recovery words. So, hurry not with that because it is going to take time and you have to check them clearly upon doing so.

The question is: can we check the restoration words on Ledger Live
No, you can't. Unless you want to avail their Ledger Recover which is a big no.

if we've lost them, do we have to send them to another wallet and write down the new words?
Say, that you're still able to access the ledger wallet and you have lost the seeds. You'll have to verify the transaction on the actual device before sending. I think that I understand you here. Yes, send it to another wallet like a desktop wallet, sweep that hardware wallet and generate new recovery phrases and after writing them down and backing it up. Send back the balances on that new wallet that you generated you've sent before.
311  Economy / Economics / Re: Reckless financial decision ? on: March 04, 2024, 06:49:15 PM
Do you think a celebrity who turns down a multi-million dollar deal solely because the organization doesn't allow him smoking weed is a reckless financial decision?
Totally reckless. Stardom can fade in the next few years when you're not obeying your organization's liking and instructions and so as your manager. That's a multi million dollar deal and just for the sake of smoking weed or any violation that you've been told to stop, you have to stop that on an instant if you like your career. Understanding being in the entertainment industry will make you realize that this career won't even last forever for the most of the talents and celebrities and that's why wasting such deal is a reckless move and decision.

Keep in mind this definition of reckless financial decision - It entails when a person makes choices that involve significant financial risk or lack of consideration for the potential consequences.

What other reckless financial decision do you know or have heard of?
When Dennis Schroder rejected Lakers a multimillion contract offer which was estimated $84M. And then, he's signed back to Lakers last year for $2.64M.
312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tournament gave 25 bitcoins as prize to last places on: March 04, 2024, 04:17:25 PM
This isn't something surprising. Because then it was placed based on the Bitcoin price, and wasn't it popular? We can't complete this with the current situation. The world has changed a lot, so everything is changing. For me, even if I won that bitcoin when it was placed, I may sell it when the price becomes double. I can't imagine holding on till now unless I totally forget about Bitcoin. Maybe after 10 years, some people still can't imagine Bitcoin was $50K and we haven't bought it. Everything will change from time to time.
That's right, most of us upon receiving that consolation prize might not keep it and just sell it as-is because Bitcoin has no place before in everyone's pocket and it's still new to everyone's ear. Well, for these scenarios, what we can learn is about the value of Bitcoin that has been treated as a consolation prize now has grown a lot.

I am pretty sure most of those coins are lost. If you search the block explorer for that day and you find an address which sent 25 BTC to the 4 participants you will see that they were never spent.

They probably just delete the email or threw away that piece of paper with the private key and it’s gone forever. Bitcoin was like less than $1 back then and not worth it setting up a wallet, finding an exchange to sell just to get $20.
A sad twist for this piece of history then. Those winners don't even keep a few bucks from having it after winning as a consolation prize. But on the brighter side, they've just donated this to the community as it's considered burned and lost Bitcoins forever.

...
It is for sure that no one anticipate[d] that bitcoin will be something else in the next decade and that's why those players have probably sold it just like me if I'm on that tournament to receive the prize.  Cheesy
...

Plenty of people did, see below about the people who got the potential for bitcoin, plenty of people didn't, but there were plenty of people who understood in 2010 and 2011 that bitcoin was going to be worth a whole lot of very little and that it was something of a binary out coming.  As time progresses, one way increases in likelihood more and more.

But the negative comments related to bitcoin in some of these are just golden, and are still repeated now, nearly 14 years later, see e.g.:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=12156.0

https://themonetaryfuture.blogspot.com/2011/06/bitcoin-is-economic-singularity.html

https://news.slashdot.org/story/10/07/11/1747245/bitcoin-releases-version-03
I've been looking for this thread as I've seen someone posted that in socials and he's right with what he's said. I can't imagine how much enthusiasm that this guy has. Because before when you talk like this in front of people, you'll be just laughed by them not knowing what you're saying and even asks you what you're talking about. He's even talking about 10 bitcoins and $10k at that time. While even having less than 10 right now is a wealth that one can keep and have a life changing transformation in our lives.

Things like this from tomhudson on slashdot:
"... except I didn't have to even read that to figure out the system was insecure. The description from Wikipedia was sufficient. In other words, if someone who is not familiar with the system can spot the main flaw in 2 minutes or less, then it's garbage.  ...
Summary: Bitcoin is worthless."

AC: "So it's slashvertising AND garbage. Three cheers for kdawson"

"The first thing the client did was try to connect to a webserver on port 80, probably a version check. The second thing it did was try to connect to a an IRC network. Can you say, botnet?"

"I see no reason this would be preferable to any number of already-available systems for valuing goods (like, say, US dollars), unless you're an anti-government paranoid."
I bet that these people have been ROFcrying and still regretting that they've talked sh*t about Bitcoin and never even got a handful of it.

That's the best prize in that tournament if they only knew back then, if they only managed to save those bitcoins until now, surely they have been living a decent life nowadays with that money and those who won the 1st to 4th places wish that they had been the ones who won the last places. It's really good if they can find someone who took part in the tournament and won those 25 bitcoins, I wonder how they are now and how they spend those bitcoins after they finally convert them to fiat. Just like the Pizza guy who accepted to be interviewed these guys right here also deserve such exposure and documentaries if they also want to.
It's likely that they have never kept them and that's sad on their part. That only shows on how Bitcoin was treated as if it's nothing even if it's given to them as a consolation prize.

These were gamers we're talking about. If they see the price of each bitcoin go up even by a dollar or ten dollars, they'd immediately sell those for equipment or gears in game. The chances of them still having those bitcoins are pretty slim, and if ever they still have them, they'd probably be famous by now since they are millionaires.

If I was one of those people in that tournament, I wouldn't believe it if I find out that me losing a tournament would have made me a millionaire.
I'll even use it to buy a new game or some items that will make me happy and that's for sure. But past is past, the lesson is there and I don't think we'll ever see another tournament that will give Bitcoin as its prize whether it's a major or consolation.

Makes me think of the mini tournaments held as well these days with crypto as prizes, most of them for their own utility coins that have little to no outside purpose besides their network, much like what bitcoin is back then. Will they flourish? Will some of the winners keep their coins only to lose their seed phrases/passwords? Will they spend it and eventually be remorseful when they find out they could've cashed out, saved, and sat on a million dollar paycheck in the future? Ahh, it makes me all excited and giddy about the future of Esports and cryptocurrency.
It's much like that these are cypher punk things and those winners will have to figure out how they're going to keep or sell them. But then, no one cares, no one even moved them as said.
313  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥🔥🔥 BC.GAME - CASINO AND SPORTSBOOK | $1,000 GIVEAWAY LIVE! 🔥🔥🔥 on: March 04, 2024, 02:23:33 PM
Could it be that there's something to do with some cache that he needs to clear? Or try to restart the modem and get some fresh IP if those ISP that you've mentioned are using dynamic IPs. I'm not from there but there's a possibility that it could be these things when you have no problem accessing with the same provider or it has something to do with the browsers they're using. But if the mirror links are working for them, I guess that's okay then as that's the purpose why they're made for.

Airtel is a mobile service provider in India. They do have broadband service. If they have blocked the website on mobile service then they will block it on their broadband service. I live in a state of India that has access to the big names and I have access to a good local broadband service. Using the local broadband I am able to access bc.games when I use Jio which is a mobile service provider I cannot but when I am using Airtel it allows me.

Maybe they might ban the casino after sometime. India is big country and it has happened in the past when it takes time to ban websites. BC.game has got a good user base in India. If they see that user base in India is shrinking then they would come up with an alternate url.
Possible that in some parts that a certain website is blocked by the ISP and in where you're located, it's accessible. But as bc.game was able to solve this problem by providing several mirror links that are really helpful for users that deal with this kind of problem.

It does seem complicated if he really can't access this site and using a mirror link won't help
The guy wasn't able to access through bc.game but he's successfully accessed the mirror links. So with that, there's really no problem anymore even if the main site is inaccessible because there goes the mirror links that are fine and accessible.
314  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🔥🔥🔥 BC.GAME - CASINO AND SPORTSBOOK | $1,000 GIVEAWAY LIVE! 🔥🔥🔥 on: March 04, 2024, 12:21:25 PM
Frankly! I still do not understand why your friend was not able to access the platform using Airtel service. I again checked it and I am again able to get access to the casino. It is kind of weird to me as Airtel is a national service provider and if it has banned the website then it should be applicable for me. I would have again shared the screenshot but you won't again agree with me. As of my understanding, anyone using Airtel mobility connection can get on to the platform. I am not sure whether your friend was using Airtel mobile or its broadband service. I am able to access it with both my local broadband and Airtel mobile connection in my state.

315  Economy / Speculation / Re: crypto on: March 03, 2024, 10:49:14 PM
hello is this the right time to sell these btc or wait for the halving
If you are in need of money for medication or any important matter then what's more important to you? Life or money? But if you're not in that type of situation, ask yourself if you need that money now and what makes you hurry to sell? Since you've mentioned to wait for the halving then we'd all say that it's the latter. The halving isn't there yet and all you need to wait is for it to happen and then let Bitcoin move on its own for the next several months to come up to next year. If you sell now, are you going to regret when you see the price of Bitcoin soars? For sure that you will because many of us did but the difference is about the usage of the profit and where you allocated that. If it's with a great purpose, no regrets and sell at any time you wish.
316  Economy / Economics / Re: Saving don't make wealth on: March 03, 2024, 08:21:57 PM
Like what it is being said, "teach them young" to save. And that principle will start from there and they'll have the idea on how money works coming from savings, to investing, to inflation, to economy and so on. While no one becomes rich by saving because you have to let your money work for you and the term saving for tomorrow is wrong. It should be "save for the rainy days", this is all about having the emergency money that you can pull out. But this narrative has changed overtime when there are a lot of assets that are liquid and you can always pull out when you are short and are in need of cash. As we're here, someone who's interested in investing in Bitcoin will also see himself that he's learning about investing in general because he has to learn about the market, news, charts, halving, some jargons and technicalities that are basically needed for one to know being invested to Bitcoin. And with this, an investor will bring this to any other investment that they're going to be interested with.
317  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Latest news in crypto? on: March 03, 2024, 06:16:44 PM
Hello, since bitcoin is on the bullish side again, I permit myself to read and research again about crypto (quite busy nowadays because of work and post-graduate study hence time is precious).  So far, bounty campaigns and air drops are lively again and I hear my friends getting big rewards recently.

I just want to ask what is the "new" or "hype" thing this time?  Last time was the introduction of NFT, what about this time?  Or are there any specific reason why Bitcoin is in the bull run right now? Is it because of the halving or the ETF?

Thanks in advance.
If you're asking about if it's the halving as the new thing or hype this time, it's a no because every cycle there's always been the halving that we used to experience. But this time, it's true that it's with the Bitcoin Spot ETF. And as we move on, they're also counting about the potential approval of the same thing with Ethereum for which I don't think it will happen because it's unlikely gonna get an approval.

I don't understand what Bitcoin have to do with NFT and why a hype from would affect its price.
I think he's talking about the last bull run wherein there have been bunch of NFT projects that became hyped.
318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tournament gave 25 bitcoins as prize to last places on: March 02, 2024, 10:08:35 PM
After a year, I don't think that there's a need for me to create a new thread encouraging people.
Absolutely people need to understand the value of the coin. This thread is the perfect example and motivation for the people to buy the coins and hold it. Bitcoins have really done great in the past few years and have given a lot of returns in return. So people need to understand that Bitcoins are limited in numbers and very rare. So just buy and hold to earn maximum profit.
During the times before, we've seen that it's just like a consolation of the last placers but then no one knows that it would be a great value in the future. And just as what everyone is seeing it right now, we may not be able to predict how high it can go but if you are holder and you believe that there will be of a greater value soon, you'll hold. The limit that it has got, the total number of bitcoins that are lost forever, they'll never get replaced. That's why the longer the time passes by, the rarer that these Bitcoins that we're holding will be and the institutions are craving to have it soon because they want us to sell these to them but not for now and the time will come when the price is higher.  Grin

I saw one of the comments on your Reddit post, the guy waiting for 5 months is completely ridiculous. let's hope yours doesn't take that long.
I have never used this exchange but that kind of customer service is terrible and making a customer wait for 5 months just to solve an issue is unacceptable. OP has been waiting for a month and if this is how they're solving problems of their customer, he's got 4 more months but I hope that it won't take that any longer. And with that OP, no one is able to help you when they've answered the same thing from your ticket and from your reddit post and even here, it won't do that much anymore. As these tickets have got logs written on your report and it's up to their team, department or supports or whatever they call that as they're not forced to solve it asap.

All of you guys are right. It is not bc.game that has blocked my country. May be it's the ISPs or the country itself that has decided to restrict access to bc.game.
But I wonder why they have restricted only bc.game and not other gambling sites.
Fortunately, I was able to access the mirror links that you have provided. Thanks for that. I never knew about it until today.
It's possible that IP from bc.game upon you visited it was put into your ISPs blocklist. For what reason? We don't know, maybe someone demanded for that or your government is too strict with online gambling. There are countries that are too strict with online gambling but I doubt that your country banned online casino/gambling.

WTF moment at bc.game

Played on crash and targeted 1.4x but crashed at 1.39x. This is very annoying because the difference is only 0.01 points. This is the second time I've had a WTF moment on a bc.game crash game. Do you also often play game crash? Are there any special tricks you have?

Btw, the RIO contest is almost over, have you got a lot of RIO guys?
That sucks but that really happens. I don't even go that far when in my first few attempts were failed crashes. I don't have special tricks when I play crash but I just get out of it quickly and be happy with how much I get from that point.
