4921  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ANY BTC HOLDER WORST NIGHTMARE, and it happened to me... on: April 30, 2017, 03:43:36 PM
i remember andreas suggesting to hide your bitcoins in a picture of a cat.
if you lose the pwd just get them from there.  search openpuff

there are a lot of these ideas out there, it is best to come up with some combination according to where you live and the household objects you have!
for example i read once about someone who was keeping his electrum seed in his physical phone book. among names and random phone numbers!
4922  Economy / Exchanges / Re: poloniex scam? on: April 29, 2017, 04:16:18 PM
the dump (those big red candles leading down) is perfectly normal. people were holding some of these shitcoins and as the delisting news came they started dumping.

but what people are missing are the pumps 3 or 5 days before the announcement and the dump. they all started days before the news and price pumped and those with internal information made their exit on top then the news came!
4923  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING: Exchanges are all shell games !!! on: April 29, 2017, 03:56:25 PM
The USDT thing is making me extremely worried about Poloniex. Poloniex is pretty much the only place to do altcoin trading with decent volume, if Poloniex crashes it's going to be bad. Im withdrawing all of my coins from Poloniex for the time being, until the USDT situation is resolved. I like trading and having some liquidity in exchanges (I understand the risk) to take advatange of quick market moves but this is making me too nervous to have single satoshi there.

In their offical web page, the tether says 1 USDT is always equal to 1 USD and this does not change. Yet, we see that they actually lied to us!

are you sure about this because i have never seen anywhere on their site saying this, also they assure you that they don't guarantee any exchange to fiat.
4924  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prediction - $1500 in 30 days - What do you think? on: April 28, 2017, 03:35:39 PM
i think it is more of a bold prediction at best.
reaching $1500 is going to be a big rise and although i believe bitcoin will still be cheap and under-priced but i can not see it happening this fast. there are too many people wanting a price like that to make their exit and dump the price to buy back.

Correct, price is still we can buy the bitcoin now also to make profit in future. As satoshi speculates price will be 10000$ in 2030. In that case, if you buy and hold the bitcoin now. In future you will be a millionaire for sure. I do not think we gonna see more hark forks in future. Now bitcoin touched 1335$ today. will increase to more value in future.

i can't see how what you say relates to what i said but ok!
i have a couple of things to say to you too.
- i have never seen satoshi making speculations like this, would love to see where you saw satoshi saying price will be 10K in 2030!
- also if by hard fork you mean the BU drama split then no it won't happen but if you are talking about hard fork in general then it is a possibility, we have already had one hard fork.
4925  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [ANN] Bittrex - Next generation exchange (btc/ltc/eac/ppc/rdd/ftc/and more) on: April 28, 2017, 03:14:19 PM
hey,
looking for quick help with your public api Smiley
I would like to access your candlestick data from my software, therefore i checked out your api documentation.
https://bittrex.com/Home/Api
but somehow i cant find this specific reequst there  Huh  maybe i am just blind Wink
what i am basically looking for is the equivalent of this api call on poloniex:
https://poloniex.com/public?command=returnChartData&currencyPair=BTC_LTC&start=1405699200&end=9999999999&period=86400
...which returns the candlesticks for the given period and market
thanks

it sucks but Bittrex doesn't offer candlestick (OHLC) data. i've looked everywhere.
i hope they add it, also while you are at it add sockets too like poloniex, it is an essential part of any professional API in my opinion.

you can still use polo for chart though, the difference is not that big.
4926  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is your best strategy to determine if the coin will be profitable? on: April 28, 2017, 02:49:17 PM
a coin that has a possible future and that is a real future not just an illusion hype that the shills create so that they can pump the price. with this criteria i limit the coins that are worth my time to a handful. and that list consists of bitcoin, litecoin, monero and two others that i am not so sure about so i won't mention them.

then since this is trading board i'll assume your questions is about trading. and for that, you only need to invest in the altcoins before they are pumped. sounds pretty simple but it is hard to buy low and sell high and don't get greedy and miss the chance. for that you mostly need to look at the charts and look out for some news.on twitter on in altcoin board.

4928  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: "You have not payed you Bitcoin capital gain tax"? on: April 27, 2017, 04:44:09 PM
How is that any different from having coinbase for example handing details to the IRS for example? Its pretty much the same thing If you ask me and also, Its probably just a matter of time since they will actually regulate bitcoin and tax it.
They can only regulate Bitcoin that they know about.  Anyone that really wants to launder their money or avoid paying taxes will probably be capable of it unless governments do some very complicated analysis.

It seems unlikely that many people will be contacted for avoiding tax if they were actually trying.

they can't tax it unless you mix fiat with the business Smiley
meaning if you trade on an exchange and link your bank account there so that they can know who you are and how much you are trading. otherwise it is easy to deny possessing bitcoin Smiley

although you may end up like Burt if you are in US
4929  Economy / Speculation / Re: ask for invest in bitcoin on: April 27, 2017, 04:34:16 PM
Hello friends....
Is that good time to buy bitcoin..need ur reply for safe investment...i heard that bitcoin will dump to1000$..so in these rumours i can't do that decide proper fact

if you can't make up a decision on your own then i think it is best if you don't invest. besides how do you know if i tell you it will or will not go down to $1000, i am telling the truth or just spreading FUD.
it is your money and you need to decide on it yourself.
4930  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Use Poloniex for receiving payments on: April 26, 2017, 05:16:53 PM
you just have to know the risks and accept them first. it surely is easier and more convenient to receive payments, specially in altcoins, in your exchange account. and it is actually a better idea than downloading one of these scamcoin wallets and installing them, risking contaminating your PC!

but an exchange wallet is always going to be a third party service that have access to your funds and can either block your account or runs away with all the funds.
so it also depends on the amount
4931  Economy / Speculation / Re: Looking Forward to 2017 on: April 26, 2017, 05:01:35 PM
and now bitcoin price is at $14xx and its should makes us happy because we can make a big money for people which buying bitcoin at $9xx and now they can sold their bitcoin. but for people which is buy at $1xxx or above, then i think you don't have to be panic when you see the price is down because the price will be more higher than now and its the best for you to keep hold it in your wallet or you can use it for trading btc-altcoin to grow your bitcoin amount.
In bitfinex its already been touch in $1,400 value but i think in preev price still not and we should relay on btc-e as our real price..
Well we already get back in $1,300 so i think the next stage is $1.4k
Do you think bitfinex issue already been done i didn't still see any new post in their site..
Or this is just another trap because the big crash happen..

- the "real" price is on other exchanges and that is $1310 at the moment of typing this.
- "preev price" is not accurate it gives you an average unless you change it explicitly to a specific exchange.
- btc-e has never been the real price, it usually is lagging behind!
- no bitfinex issue is not yet done.
4932  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC-e might have been compromised on: April 26, 2017, 04:54:43 PM
Unfortunately this security breaches happen all the time and this is just one more reminder that is not safe to keep your funds on exchangers unless for trading purposes. Exchangers are not meant to be wallets. People have to become more aware that they have to protect themselves and secure their funds.

But no matter how secured the password is, if the site data itself is compromised then there is nothing a user can do.  Hackers today are getting smarter and smarter being able to breach securities and steal data of bigger company.  Even Yahoo user data were compromised. So I guess we should keep most of our funds in our cold wallet.

another way to look at it is that the people are getting dumber and dumber. in all the hacking news that i have heard so far, it was mainly mistakes of what an idiot employee of that business made.
and as for most services, if they are honest and legit, they will pay the customers back if it were they fault. i believe btc-e had at least one major hack back in the days and paid the users back.
4933  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: having problem to get blokchain info API on: April 26, 2017, 04:12:17 PM
What are you talking about?

The bitcoin API is open for everyone who wants to develop with it.
https://blockchain.info/api

everything is free, but not everything is open to everyone. the public stuff such as querying the blockchain or getting your balance for example is open but the "payment receiving part" is not. you have to make a request to get a key.
and i believe they denied OP because he is running a "MLM business" as he calls it business!
4934  Economy / Speculation / Re: POLL : ETF approval or disapproval on: April 26, 2017, 04:03:40 PM
Not trying to be a fudster or anything, but yeah, this review just seems like a formality almost to cement the original rejection decision. Like them saying not just "No," but "Hell No!"
Maybe they tought that BTC would be done for when they denied it. Now we will reach a news ATH in the upcoming days. They cant ignore Bitcoin anymore, its getting to big

unless you think those who rejected ETF are a bunch of kids that just were born into the world of economy then no, that assumption is wrong Smiley
but on a side note, yaaay ATH, we have already broken $1300 ($1400 on fakefinex)
4935  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 1 in a million on: April 25, 2017, 05:35:43 AM
I wish i started mining and bying bitcoins back in 2010 like the early adopters.
I was pretty stupid at that time. Angry
I don`t know what`s the point of this "research"?Do you have 21 btc?
I will never have 21 bitcoins.
This post is very useful, it allows to us to see a comparison on the average price as time has passed, in this year alone the amount of money needed to buy those coins has doubled if bitcoin keeps going in this direction it will not be long before it takes an amount of money that is out of the reach of most people in the world.

the only thing that the post you quoted shows, is that certain group of people will always remain where they are and never advance in their lives because they will always remain scared in the present and regret the past.
and unless they stop this behavior you will see them in the future saying the same thing about today: "i wish i did ... back then"
4936  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Poloniex or Bittrex on: April 25, 2017, 05:23:59 AM
Which of these two exchange services do you use and why?
Do you trust one over the other or is it a support or service thing that one is better than the other, have you tried both?
And how many of you use both services just to spread your funds across?

I prefer Poloniex.  It's very good at listing legit cryptos even if they're ones that get pumped and dumped often.  It also has a much larger trading volume which is better, and I rely on Bittrex a lot less (especially since they're not allowing fiat withdrawals for their Bitcoin/fiat exchange, which makes me think they're having serious trouble and something might go wrong).

Poloniex looks better as well but I can't say that that matters too much to actual trading.  It's just quite pleasant.

Yeah I'd say the biggest difference between the two is that Bittrex is more along the lines of Yobit when it comes to the coins they add, they add the coins that are shitty and submitted by people who simply have them in order to pump them. There's no other reason for a site like this in the least.

Poloniex on the other hand holds coins which actually have a pretty high market cap and daily trading volume such as XEM,XRP,XMR,ETH,ETC, and so on and so forth. These are coins which COULD be used (they're not but they could be) based on the tech that is actually behind them which is pretty nice too.

So, Poloniex all the way

first of all, don't fool yourself. all exchanges add what gives them the most profit. they do not see things that you and i call shit or scam, etc. the only thing they see is how they can make more money from adding such coin. and if they have to choose between 2 they will add the one that gives them the most profit.

secondly, do not even begin to compare bittrex with yobit. bittrex a legit and good service that has been working very well for years without any serious problems and the coins they add are all good and they are what people want.
yobit is a shitty scam place that is run by scammers who will add anything they want even if people never trade them.
4937  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins negotiations with Bot's on: April 25, 2017, 04:53:37 AM
In my personal view bots into altcoins trading seems to be profitable to some extent, because depending on the price variation it cannot make the trade moves same as that an human mind does. When it comes to negotiation users offer based on requirement, but bots function as preprogrammed.
As a non bot user on trading or in any altcoin i do not consider using bots. But I know that bot is a programed bots that may have a trading base on the set function of it. But i think using it as a main decision maker on your trading may cause you on losing bitcoin. Because in trading it requires thinking and logical analysis where you need to decide based on what you do and what you need no like the bots where it have already a specific job or goal or what others called program.

i'd like to think of bots mostly as two things:
1) a way to make things faster, specially about some of these platforms that are pretty slow. for example opening poloniex and letting all the charts and stuff load and to place or cancel and order it taking a lot of time but clicking a button in my bot is only half a second.
2) run some special strategies, this part is not as useful as the other in my opinion but there are times that you want to do some quick analysis and some calculation and then execute some trades. a bot can do it fast and automatic without needing you bring up a calculator!
4938  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Bitfinex situation - how long will it take? on: April 25, 2017, 04:33:32 AM
But as soon as all the whales and the big traders have gotten everything they have out from Bitfinex that is when the truth starts coming out. It is happening just like Gox. I hope we also get the biggest pump in Bitcoin history with it.
I expect a dump will happen as soon as all the whales and big traders have gotten everything they have out of bitfinex if they decided to convert it into fiat. I also hope to see the biggest pump in history but there is the possibility that we will see again the repeat of 2013 and I know many of us dont want to see a dump that big again except for those who want to buy cheap bitcoin.

Whales are not stupid, why would they immediately dump after they bought bitcoins at a premium?

This is what panic sellers do.
And panic sellers have small purses, because they lose their money just as fast as they make their few pennies.

And you're hoping for a dump.... Problems with the stomach?

Maybe that is why during MtGox they pumped the price to more than the premium price they bought in then sold high and after the dump, they bought low again.

MT GOX was a stupid fake price rise that was done only because it had way too much power and influence. i mean there were literary no other exchanges even remotely big to have any effect on the price!
right now the volume that bitfinex has is the same percentage as those small other exchanges at the time of GOX.
and also gox pump was a one time thing that happened because of that influence that place had. and it was done by the exchange not the whales.
4939  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you see alts have chances against Bitcoins? on: April 25, 2017, 04:12:53 AM
I don't really think any altcoin will take over from bitcoin but it will have brothers and sister coins. Altcoin is to bitcoin as bitcoin is to the USD. So altcoin doesn't really need to have a chance with bitcoin. Unless a newer better version of bitcoin with better technology comes out. Its mostly up to the technology behind the coin and not the coin itself.
I think even though altcoin has great technology though. If the user prefers and believes in bitcoin. Then the altcoin will not be able to do anything including take over

It is unnecessarily possible that bitcoin users couldn't consider altcoins since most of bitcoin holders are traders. Althogh bitcoin can stand alone without the presence of altcoin/crypto currency coins, digital currency would not be considered if there is no other currencies being traded with bitcoin except fiat money.

it is not supposed to be just about trading. but yeah these days altcoins are only for trading and nothing else. you join the pump and dumps and make money from them.
but in fact altcoins are supposed to be alternative ways of exploring different possibilities in cryptocurrency world. offering new features, different ones. and a lot more interesting stuff, which all have been forgotten and only the money is all people think about when it comes to altcoins.
4940  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitfinex is trading with ATH on: April 23, 2017, 04:07:44 PM
that $1350 back at the time of ETF doesn't count the same way this $1350 doesn't count.
the first one was a whale going crazy and messing with all the shorts of everyone when they bought all the way up and dumped all the way down in one minute!

and this new $1350 also doesn't count since bitfinex is getting empty of traders as they buy BTC and get out. you have to want to take high risks to sell BTC on finex and keep fiat there.
