So here is where I am... it looks like my wallet.dat file was corrupt. After restoring it from a backup -- everything is fine and the qt is no longer crashing!  I was letting the wallet download the blockchain and it seemed to stall out with about 30,000 blocks left. I followed the instructions on P17 of this thread and that got me closer with only ~2,700 blocks remaining. It's just extremely slow at this point -- I wonder if the wallet is trying to resolve forks. Good information. I have not done a full block chain download in a while. I am going to try it on a fresh computer with a fresh wallet see if I have any issues. I am glad you are back in the game.. |

Completed 1.2.2.3 tonight.
- Added fmintonly bool to rpc. This will block rpc send coins commands if set to true. Should this be set for GUI? I think yes..
- Added addnode to rcp.
- Fixed Splash screen.
I'll package this up tomorrow and unofficial release.

my wallet keeps going out of sync
it seems like i always have 12 blocks to catch up on
any ideas what is going on?
Hi ryanb, is this the win client or the mac client? How many peers do you have connected? What is your block count and diff? that is on windows today i received a payment from the pool and not showing on my end and the wallet showing that it is in sync, now i am restarting it to se if it needs to resync payment shows up after restart and difficulty is  { "proof-of-work" : 0.45003811, "proof-of-stake" : 0.00390625, "search-interval" : 0 } it was showing that it was in sync but when i restarted it download 128 blocks Ok, you seem to be in good shape. How many peers do you keep connected? I keep 6-8 and I mine and stake without issue. Do you use IRC? I have 18 active connections and i use IRC I do occasionally have difficulty catching up, if my internet goes out for a spell. Still an issue? |

So far so good!  I have ~ 132,000 blocks left to sync. I haven't been able to get this far in a while. Looks like my actual wallet.dat file was corrupt. Good think I keep backups! Good advice. I keep weekly backups of my wallets, especially staking wallets. As new private keys will get added. |

ill open one its pathetic that it was even allowed to get this high.ill open a PPS HBN Pool same goes for WDC for anyone here who is interested in WDC. there is a 0.5% fee prop pool with a 50WDC Block Bonus for the next 5 people who find a block and all fees/donations go back out to the community via schaermbeck. http://mineworks.scharmbeck.comThanks ahemd. The wallet's getblockcount reports 287403 blocks when it failed.
I am going to kill it and let it run again and see if I am 'stuck' on a block.
Wmikrut. I'm not sure what is causing your issues off hand? have you been able to get fully up-to-date yet? To me it does sound like some type of wallet corruption. If it does crash again please try the following. 1) Navigate to %appdata%/HoboNickels directory 2) Rename your wallet.dat wallet-bad.dat 3) Startup the client with the parm -usewallet="" 4) After you are fully synced up. Let it sit for a while and see if it crashes. If not got 5, if so please report back here. 5) Using the load button, load up your wallet-bad.dat 6) If encrypted goto debug window/console and type usewallet bad walletpassphrase <your pass> 999999 If not skip to 7 7) At this point I would send your coins from bad to ~Default. Do a few test sends first. As always be sure to keep backups of your wallet.dat and other wallets offline as well. Please let me know if you have any success. |

I have temporaly put a very high fee(4%) on the HBN pool because we have 80 % of network hashrate and I want to motivate some miners to switch at least sometimes on others pools
I am going to work on getting a few more pools open. Coinex is down for upgrade, and the other 2 went awol. You are it for now. Enjoy the extra HBN, the price is starting to rise very nicely. |

Hi lucazane I just want to make sure we use caution with the HBN pool. I realize it is not your fault, but you are now controlling a very large % of the hash rate. So please be sure you are getting sync checkpoints and relaying to as many peers as possible, just so we don't get into a fork situation. Everything is working great, just keeping everything as smooth as possible.

But I don't now how to check if I have the last check point Just look for ProcessSyncCheckpoint in the debug.log $ egrep 'ProcessSyncCheckpoint|SetBestChain:' debug.log |tail -2 SetBestChain: new best=00000002755c8f2db42e height=403402 trust=346301143475 date=12/11/13 22:15:10 ProcessSyncCheckpoint: sync-checkpoint at 00000002755c8f2db42e4730ba45913714e1c0 4cf8d8be7cdcd3ae85a61adf46 Each block is currently getting a checkpoint, for now. If you don't see this, you maybe on the wrong chain(unlikely), or the server is down. In which case I will fix as soon as I can. BTW you run a very good pool. Up time is great, good support. Anyone else having this problem with 1.2.2.0. I cleared out my %appdata% and attempted to re-download the clock chain. (Yes, I left my wallet.dat and config file alone) I have tried downloading a copy of the blockchain here.. I have tried other copies for download. I have tried clearing out the %appdata% folder and allowing it to download again.. but I keep running into the same problem.  Helloa wmikrut. Sorry about your issues. I believe this is caused by encrypted wallets. There is a current bug which is causing encrypted wallets to crash randomly from 2-10 minutes. I have not pinpointed this in the code yet, so I have no fix currently. For now there is a work around. Where you still downloading the block chain when you took the snapshot? You should not get that many orphans. I get about 4-7% PoS orphans. if you are looking for long term hold, buying a coin that uses Proof of Stake, is a good option for 100 USD.
Find the one you like the best, buy the coins, download them to your wallet and let the interest accumulate.
PoS coins require the client to be running in order to "gain interest". With only a 100usd investment, you'd have to consider whether it's costing you more to mine than the return you're getting. This is not true. The client can be left closed until the coins have aged enough and then turn on client, to let them stake. You can run them off of a Pi. I don't that is much energy. |
