1301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Good news! Gavin Andresen: I think everybody should switch to talking in "bits" on: November 03, 2014, 10:33:18 AM
It might be better to come up with a sliding scale based on the amount being discussed.

If I have $5 I don't say I have 500 cents. But if I have 50 cents I don't say I have .5 dollars.

So when discussing something like .1 bitcoins you might say you have 100 mBTC and if you have .1 mBTC you have 100 bits.
The obvious problem here is, that you have 3 words (bitcoin, mBTC, bits) where you just have 2 words in order currencies(dollar, cent). For a not techie person, that is a big turn off.
Another Problem is, that Bitcoins are just too expensive. If you are from USA or an EUR-country, you are just not used to exchange 1 USD/EUR for some cents in another currency. So from a psychological aspect, we should just stop using BTC when we are speaking to the mainstream. (Yeah I know, that is not really going to happen)
1302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I warned you on: November 03, 2014, 09:51:21 AM
Quote from the article:
These are the price junctures where manipulation forced price in the opposite direction than that dictated by wave principle:

So if the price doesn't move accordingly to the "wave theory" then it's manipulated? LOL
And what the hell is this wave theory in the first place?

I've read the Venzen Kahosan bullshits many times in the past he is the kind of trader who loves to draw thousands of meaningless lines on the chart and always concludes:
"If it breaks this level then it will go up, instead if it breaks this support the price will go down". That is the perfect loser mindset.
This guy has no fucking clue of how financial markets work, stop listening to his bullshits please.

And unless you can still deposit your money in those exchanges, buy the offers shown in the orderbook and withdraw your bitcoins, please explain me how the hell is that supposed to be a fraud or a fake price?
Have you ever heard of fractional reserve?
You basically say, "If I can cash out my money from the bank, why the hell do you think, they don't have all the money of the customers in their vault?"
Have you ever heard of mtgox?
1303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I warned you on: November 03, 2014, 07:52:29 AM
These exchanges are manipulating the price of Bitcoin on a colossal scale.  Just as the Karpeles 'trading bot' pumped the price of BTC last November, new trading bots at the big exchanges are artificially deflating the price so they can 'buy in' at the lowest rates.
While I do agree that it is generally a bad idea to hold your bitcoin at an exchange, I do dispute your claim that the exchange are manipulating the price of bitcoin.

All the willy bot was, a mechanism that whales were able to purchase large amounts of bitcoin via gox in an orderly fashion. Likewise the price of bitcoin on the exchanges are merely a result of supply and demand
The willy bot put money in his account out of thin air to purchase this large amounts of bitcoin.
1304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Foundation to repair relationship with community on: November 03, 2014, 07:50:33 AM
I don't think many/any foundation (or similar entity that accepts donations) is ever going to be willing to give refunds in the way that you request.
I find "traditional establishments would never do this" to be a particularly uncompelling argument within the bitcoin space. The whole point of bitcoin should be to NOT make the same mistakes of traditional institutions.

From this perspective, the foundation has failed so far. When their chief scientist abandoned them, and stated reasons like lack of transparency, that was a major red flag for me - and should be for any bitcoiner.
Who do you mean by that?
1305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I warned you on: November 03, 2014, 07:42:17 AM
Quote
One goes down – they all go down.

Well, of course. That's how multiple exchanges work. If there's any significant price difference between exchanges, somebody will buy on one and sell on another, and the prices will equalize. The prices will close up to the cost of the transaction, which is a few percent on Bitcoin exchanges.

This is arbitrage.

If you see a significant difference between exchanges, that's a bad sign. It means there's trouble getting funds out of some exchange. Remember when Mt. Gox was far higher than anyone else?  That was because most investors couldn't get funds out of Mt. Gox.

I am pretty sure, it is bots, who even that difference out.
1306  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are Bitcoiners Neoliberals? on: November 03, 2014, 07:37:06 AM
@DumbFruit
I really put you in the place to endorse minor sexworkers, where I just wanted you to see the flaws of your thinking.
One thing is even more disturbing.

I don't know if you really believe this, or are just merely trying to stay true to your broken philosophy, but just so you know, DumbFruit, you are coming across like a really sick and twisted person.

First of all, only pedophiles and psychopaths think it’s okay to sleep with 12-year old girls.
Secondly, only a truly evil and degenerate modern society will intentionally allow sexual commerce involving 12-year-old girls and adult males.
Thirdly, this is why social safety nets which you detest so much are important.

...

2.) Did the parents decide to put them there?
If 12 years old is not the age of consent, then it was the parents decision to put them there.

...
So, parents have full control of their children? It is ok for them to put them into sex slavery for the money.
Would it also be ok for them to sell them to a scientist to experiment on them or to a warlord to kill other people?

btw. as far as I saw, you didn't answer that question:

So, it is good when a 40-year old first world country tourist goes to a third world country fucking a 12-year old because it is good for their economy?

[Stuff about an alt coin]
that takes away the decentralization, but decentralization isn't the only pro of blockchain technology,
Wow.
It doesn't have to be a coin.
If you are thinking of a blockchain, just as part of a virtual currency, you obviously don't have much imagination.
There are already enough projects out there with a blockchain, that doesn't include coins.

Such as? I have never come across one of them? Maybe NXT (they have coins, no?)
I already linked one in my first post in this thread.

or check out Ehtereum
https://www.ethereum.org/

I heard about projects, where they want to make a chat on a blockchain. Lets talk Bitcoin uses Tokens to e.g. have access to a part of the forum(your account is linked to a wallet, if the wallet has that token you can use the forum).
I am not sure, if this ideas will work out(or if they are good ones), but there are people out there trying this stuff.
I am all for centralized money... for you. All of your examples use coins. By all means buy them with your money. I'll hodl bitcoins tyvm.
This projects don't just use a blockchain for storing transactions. If you are to stupid to understand that, I can't help you.

1310  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: About smart phone wallets.. on: November 01, 2014, 10:14:29 AM
I have never try install a wallet on my smart phone.
The safety of phone always bothers me.
By "safety" do you mean the possibility of the phone being lost or stolen? If that's the concern, make sure you lock the wallet with a PIN. When you discover the phone missing, restore your wallet from the paper backup and transfer the bitcoin to a new wallet, with a new private key.

Or are you concerned about the possibility of the phone being hacked?
If you have a 4-digit PIN to "protect" your wallet then there are only 10,000 possible combinations that an attacker would need to try (at most) before finding your PIN. All an attacker would need to do is make a clone of your phone in airplane mode and try all combinations until they figure out which one is correct. This would logically not take very long considering how fast even CPU mining is. This would not give you very much time to secure your funds in the manor you describe
A four digit pin is just 1,000 combinations 0000 to 9999 Wink

Wrong, you can have 10 possible integers for each space. 10x10x10x10 is 10,000 combinations!
Oh, I just got up, when I wrote this.
You are of course right
1311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Blockchain technology will pervade, but not bitcoin." on: November 01, 2014, 09:04:27 AM
I have a similar view.
I am pretty sure, blockchain technology will be a big part in future technologies, but I am not sure if bitcoin will survive.
Speaking of incentives to mine: There could just be some servers around the world, which get normally paid to maintain their service. Sure, that takes away the decentralization, but decentralization isn't the only pro of blockchain technology, e.g. blockchain technology is also about not being able to manipulate data, that was generated in the past.

I heard an interview about factom the other day, which shows such a possibility.

I am also interested to hear you answer to @turvarya's question, DumbFruit.

Why bother? What if I said the following;

Should a 12-year old work in a mine?
I say that depends. You say, no, they should be taken out of the mine and left to starve to death in the street.

Should a 12-year old fuck a 40-year for money?
I say that depends. You say, no, they should be taken out of the brothel and left to starve to death in the street.

Of course, that kind of misrepresents your positions, but you both seem totally satisfied in misrepresenting mine.
So, it is good when a 40-year old first world country tourist goes to a third world country fucking a 12-year old because it is good for their economy?
1314  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are Bitcoiners Neoliberals? on: October 31, 2014, 09:10:17 PM
I never asked about capital accumulation, I asked about "free choice" of children.

What ideology do you hold, and what is the age of consent?
My question wasn't about age of consent. There is a huge difference between having sex for fun and having sex as a job.

Should a 12-year old work in a mine?
I say no, they shouldn't. You say, yes they should.

Should a 12-year old fuck a 40-year old for money?
I say no, they shouldn't. What is your answer to that question?
1315  Economy / Speculation / Re: what are your thoughts on recent price drop? on: October 31, 2014, 05:34:12 PM
Bitcoin will fail, sell it all now
1316  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are Bitcoiners Neoliberals? on: October 31, 2014, 05:16:07 PM
Minor sex workers and children working in mines is both about children labor and their "free choice" to do it.
You gave a ridiculous example about "what if aliens invade us"?
How is that answering my question?
I was answering the portion concerning capital accumulation, would you like me to answer what I think about the age of consent? What age am I supposed to assume people in some some random drawing are suppose to be?

There is not a definitive Anarcho-Libertarian position on this issue, but it's certainly not the "children are cattle" sort of nonsense you're trying say.
I never asked about capital accumulation, I asked about "free choice" of children.
So, are also minor sexworkers, ok?
If not, what is the difference to "choosing" to work in a mine?
Saying  there is no "Anarcho-Libertarian position" just shows, that you are cherry picking. Minor sex workers is something in the real world. A theory about society, that doesn't have a position on it, is just a real bad one. Avoiding delicate questions is weak.
1317  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are Bitcoiners Neoliberals? on: October 31, 2014, 04:42:59 PM
Yeah, that is great, just don't answer my question, because it shows a big flaw in your argument of "free choice".
Going on an abstract level, when there is a concrete question is just weak.

No. I answered why third world countries tend to have working conditions, hours, and pay that don't come anywhere near to matching the first world, then you one-line bald-faced swapped the topic out to sex trafficking which is a different issue. To me, that signaled that you either have zero integrity, or you have zero capacity of following a conversation. In either case, why should I waste my time on you?
Minor sex workers and children working in mines is both about children labor and their "free choice" to do it.

Please read a little bit into the topic before you make such suggestions.
The whole point of private/public key pairs, is that you don't send private keys.
1319  Other / Off-topic / Safe E-Mail Provider on: October 31, 2014, 09:05:30 AM
Hi,

I am currently looking for a new E-Mail Provider.
I have used G-Mail for a while now, which is dumb, I know, but I am just a really lazy person sometimes.

Is there anything out yet, with a good client side encryption? Preferable not located in the US?

Thanks
