461  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: French National TV Starts Advertising Bitcoin on: December 01, 2019, 01:38:22 PM
I think that France is one of the crypto friendly countries, back in 2010 i saw a news report about a guy earning money with his computers by mining bitcoin and that was the first time that i learn about it and kicked off my passion for bitcoin to where i am at now, and if these kind of ads get to the right people and influence them like influenced me, bitcoin will have many new people coming to it and increasing its popularity, and also i saw another post about them starting to teach it in universities and this makes me think that they are really making huge step toward bitcoin adoption.
462  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who has entered a shop (non-BTC accepting) and asked if they will accept Crypto? on: December 01, 2019, 12:00:31 PM
A lot of times for me when i try to use my bitcoin to buy something from real life stores i look them up, i get there but they tell me that they have no idea what i am talking about, but one time i did the same thing but after the owner told me the usual answer a guy heard me and came up and said yes we do, and it turns out that he is the son of the owner and i paid him to his wallet and he gave me my order, and think makes me happy and hopeful knowing that it might not be today or tomorrow but in the few next years we will have these kind of people who will become shop owners and managers that know the value of crypto and bitcoin, and for sure we will see more of them in the future.
463  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: French High School Students Will Learn About Bitcoin And Crypto on: December 01, 2019, 11:31:53 AM
It appears that many countries and many universities have acknowledged the potential and the power of not just crypto in terms of financial, but what it brought with it from the blockchain technology that is being studied all over the world today and people are already using it and creating projects and utilizing it for improving all aspects of our lives and i think teaching from early stages is a step toward the inevitable progress and i think that it should be teached all across the world.
464  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You think terrorist groups around the world use Cryptos as a means of payment? on: November 29, 2019, 09:55:15 AM
Considering that there are still many terrorist groups or insurgents groups around the world right now fighting with weapons that probably cost a lot. Do you guys think that they use cryptocurrencies in order to fund their armies or do they stick with trading with cash or trading valuable resources that they have?

I would not be surprised if they do trade with cryptocurrency considering that cryptocurrencies are really hard to trace compared to the conventional means of trading such as cash or valuable resources. Unless their funders don’t really accept cryptocurrency and they stick with the older methods of payment.

By the way, just to make it clear. I am not in any way planning to make a terrorist group or insurgency, I am just asking out of curiosity as I can see that those terrorist groups or insurgencies in the news must get their funding from somewhere and I was wondering what means do they use to trade for their equipment.

If you have taken a look into what is sold on the dark markets you would be amazed with what is sold there, from all sorts of illegal stuff, from drugs to guns and even mercenaries, and with all of these things sold using bitcoin and other cryptos that are hard to track their destination and their source, there is no doubt that some terrorists and mafia are using it, as it provides the perfect shade for them, and this one of the controversies that is debated about the anonymity of the crypto.
465  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does cryptocurrency mining produce more pollution? on: November 27, 2019, 03:15:03 PM
Ever since cryptocurrency has existed people have started to mine it using their PCs or Miners’ GPUs. Considering that cryptocurrency mining consumes a lot of electricity because of it using a lot of processing power, does it really cause a large ecological impact on the world?

Every time I see mining operations around the world, there are multiple miners in one place ranging from dozens to even hundreds in for those who can afford a lot of miners. That got me thinking that since there are a lot of GPUs running at once then it must use a lot of electricity which means that power plants, as a result, will need to generate more electricity which will lead to more pollution.

Is the carbon footprint of these mining operations large enough to make a large impact on the world or it doesn’t really cause a lot of pollution in the long run.
What do you guys think and are there any greener solutions for mining cryptocurrencies?

If you wanna look at it from an ecological perspective, the percentage of carbon dioxide produced by the power used by bitcoin miners around the world is nearly insignificant compared to what other day to day lives activities produce, so at least we don't have to worry about that now, besides the number of people who are mining bitcoin on a large scale bases is not that high so that it significant, and also many mining companies have started to utilize solar and other clean power methods for their mining, not because they care about the environment but it is profitable on the long term.
466  Economy / Economics / Re: The Government-Backed Digital Dollar (USD) on: November 27, 2019, 10:26:26 AM
I think that many think that it is kind early for them to jump into creating a centralized government based crypto, while it is still a new concept, especially with most of the crypto supporters not agreeing with this kind of currency, Countries like China is trying to take the risk because if it succeed it will pay off and they will take teh lead in the market, and the US is just playing it safe and watching from a distant but i am sure as soon as they see profit in it they will jump on the train as well.
467  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why would one pay $7K for Bitcoin if he/she can get the same thing for $0.001? on: November 27, 2019, 09:02:45 AM
Imagine a guy that pays a million dollars for a bread roll, while in the same time he can buy it for $1 at other bakeries. Such scenario would be crazy because no one would give million times more money for the same thing. That is why the above scenario is not possible in reality. But... in the crypto world, it is possible.

In the crypto world people are paying million times more for bitcoin than for altcoins, even though these coins essentially have the same features as bitcoin. Functions and features of cryptos are pretty straightforward. Elimination of expensive brokers, lawyers, and other typical “middlemen”. Low transaction costs. Transactions are transparent, quick, permanent, and hard to fake. Cryptos that are priced below $0.001 have all these functions and features. But despite that people are paying thousands of dollars for bitcon.

Of course that being the first in the industry and having reputation means something. For example, if a bakery has good brand reputation, consumers trust it, and feel good about purchasing its bread rolls, they might pay $2, $3, or even $10 dollars for these rolls if competitors sell them at $1. But no one would pay $1,000,000, since they are just flour, water, and yeast mixed together. The same is with cryptos. They are just numbers associated to addresses and are transferred through the network via some protocol. In that sense, bitcoin is equal to thousands of other cryptos, and  there is no rational reason for it to cost millions times more than them. To put it differently, bitcoin is a mega-bubble, even at $10, and it is only a matter of time before it bursts.
Well here lies the problem with crypto industry, a lot of the people who are involved in it are just using it or seeing it as a way of profit and not as a payment method, bitcoin has a high and fast growing price, like in a day bitcoin could change by a 100$ and that is what why many people use it especially  since 2017 when they saw the potential, and they really don't use it for buying stuff only if they have to, and anyone who says otherwise is a big lair.
468  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: According to Nick Szabo “Bitcoin Could Survive Nuclear War” on: November 25, 2019, 04:52:00 PM
The whole bitcoin network and blockchain system is decentralized and split between all the users of the network, and it only exists and operates using the internet and that is one of the main reasons that most people are still using physical money rather than using digital money and crypto, so in case of a nuclear war the blockchain will survive unless it is a mass war where all the systems going down and no internet than the physical money will be the only option.
469  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Would it be realistic for the world to run on cryptocurrencies? on: November 25, 2019, 03:42:20 PM
i don't feel like teh world would actually be able to operate on cryptocurrency ever, the thing is that cryptos are anonymous which is kinda of a blessing and a curse at the same time, sure we use it for good things like doing fast transaction and secure but others will use it for other bad stuff, so imagine a world where transactions are being made and you can't track where the money is going or coming from, it would be a mayhem and people would use it for all sort of illegal stuff, and scams and money laundering, i do believe that crypto should be used as a payment method but not as the only payment method.
470  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Currencies VS local law policies on: November 25, 2019, 01:26:32 PM
There is a wide misconception between crypto and blockchain, just because bitcoin cryptocurrency was made on the blockckhain technology does not mean that it defines it, a lot of countries and governments have acknowledged the fact that the blockcchain technology is a key to the future and have already started implementing it and using it for many services, and the only reason why they would ban crypto, is because they are unable to control it and they feel threatened by it taking over the local currency.
471  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China implements new strict controls on Cryptocurrency on: November 25, 2019, 12:30:56 PM
Well for a long time crypto has been making an impact on the Chinese market, that most mining and exchanges companies favored it, and due to how popular the crypto is there the government saw how their currency would start to fall behind so they started taking actions, from  setting strict regulations and threatening to ban it , to creating their own centralized cryptocurrency, i feel like china is the first and other governments will do the same in the near future, because if you can't beat them join them.
472  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Government Could Shutdown Bitcoin? on: November 23, 2019, 04:06:43 PM
I read this article online that the government could stop the Bitcoin? Easily using a simple trick.
Making the bitcoin market price staying in under a 1000$ for a long time and wait for the people to lose interest in it.

For me, this is easier said than done, making the bitcoin market price lower than 1000$ would encourage investors to invest in bitcoin that will inevitably affect the market price.

What is your opinion about this? Could the government do this?

https://bitcoinist.com/bitcoin-could-be-stopped-by-governments-pretty-simply/
They could do that but it would take a lot of resources, the way i see it is that they could impose some huge taxes on the people who are investing on crypto and the exchange company, so that it becomes unprofitable with how the market and the price change, but as i said that requires a lot of resources and a lot of effort, and how governments already tried to shutdown bitcoin when it went to the moon is by setting regulation and influencing the media to give a bad reputation for bitcoin.
473  Economy / Economics / Re: Which countries have banking friendly to companies that get paid in bitcoin? on: November 23, 2019, 11:08:39 AM
If you are going out of your way to look for a country to move in so you can start a cryptocurrency based company, than you are better off doing something else, what happens when suddenly that country changes its policies you will be in a deep trouble, i mean we though that china was the paradise for crypto mining and exchanges for a long time , and look at them right now, if you want to take teh risk than Malta is probably the best option since a lot of crypto related sites are based in there.
474  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much can bitcoin cost in Future. on: November 23, 2019, 10:28:56 AM
Looking back how much bitcoin has gone up in the last 10 years it is crazy, the op said that it has risen from 0.06 to 7k and if in 10 more years we have the same percentage literally the skies are the limit, and the thing is anything could happen it never stops to surprise us , back 2017 it gone from 6k to almost 20k in less than 3 months and there you could see the real potential of it as an investments, and i am sure that in the next few years we will see some good things for bitcoin and the crypto in general as it is a growing field that is attracting more and more people everyday.
475  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If Bitcoin never goes past 5-10KUSD again, what is the best action? on: November 23, 2019, 09:50:29 AM
This is my first post in a long time, I lost my other BCT.org account and had to make a new one. I sold a few ASICS from BITSHIT (you know the company) after they screwed the mining market and havent touched my wallets in a long time. I recently checked Binance for the first time in two years, and see that Bitcoin is around 9K. Now it's down to 7. I am not here to FUD, I am here to beg the question: If Bitcoin never goes past 10KUSD again, and rallies up and down between 5-10K, what is the best course of action? Knowing (believing) the circumstances of never getting a moon mission again, what is firstly the community reaction? Second, will this affect Cryptocurrency adoption? Will this hinder or accelerate Crypto?

Sorry if this seems like such a silly hypothetical, but if it remains consist for the next 5-20 years then it is important to take into account Bitcoin and subsequently other Cryptos will never rally to the moon again like back in 2017 anytime soon. What is the best course of action to take here?
So bitcoin has a limited supply and the chances of it staying in this price range for the next 10 to 5 years are very slim, and even if the prices bounce back between 10 and 5k there is still potential in that , there is 5k profit to be made so people will still hold it and traders will still trade it, as of adoption i think that having a more stable price will actually increase it and not hinder it .
476  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Governements Projects and Futur of the Bitcoin Revolution. on: November 22, 2019, 03:10:24 PM
Governments really didn't pay much attention to bitcoin in the past because it was not that significant and not many people were invested in it, but since 2017 when they saw what it was able to do and how it was able to draw so many people into investing in it when the price got to high values they felt that they were threatened and so they started pulling it down, from strict regulations like banning it and banning exchanges to coming out in the media and talking shit about , anything to give a reason for people not to support it, people need to realize what bitcoin is truly about it, we need to change the vision and the idea painted by the false media and by that and only that we can come out on top, because if there is one thing that is strong and the one thing that has kept bitcoin all these years going is the community and by making it larger and expanding it we will win.
477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Millennials Increasingly Prefer Bitcoin to Gold or Real Estate on: November 21, 2019, 04:14:41 PM
I feel like the current generation is all about doing things the easiest and the fastest way possible, being raised in in environment where internet allowed us to do things with just one click and without leaving our homes , not only Bitcoin and crypto makes a good alternative for fiat for the current gen but a quick way to make profit for them, do you think that they have the patience to buy some real estate and spend like 3 or 5 years so they can make profit from it , the answer is no, so i think that  bitcoin might prove to be a better option for them.
478  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are there any countries that accept cryptos as an actual method of payment? on: November 21, 2019, 02:48:19 PM
I don't think that there are any countries where the government has implemented bitcoin or crypto as a main payment method at least not yet, but the bitcoin is really popular not just among the places where the fiat is failing but in countries like in the north eastern Europe and Canada, you can find many local stores and people dealing with bitcoin but in places owned by the government it is not available , but iam sure that in the next few years will see some that fully implement it into the system.
479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: According to the Ceo of coinbase 1 BTC can actually change your life. on: November 21, 2019, 01:57:37 PM
I mean having  btc right now with its current price is enough to make a change in some people's life, in a few years the price might go up to the moon your whole financial life will be different, some of the early holders have become millionaires because of it, and that could be us if we just have the patience and faith in it, i mean it is crazy how bitcoin is changing the whole world not in terms of currency but everything, the blockchain technology is becoming more and more popular and that could only comeback with good things for us crypto users.
480  Economy / Economics / Re: What is the weirdest thing you have seen for sale for Bitcoin? on: November 20, 2019, 01:48:46 PM
Today I decided to crawl around on the so-called DarkNet to see what people are sellling for Crypto currencies. First of all, I was amazed how many

people are dealing in Monero these days. The second thing that grabbed my attention was the weird things people were buying online with their

bitcoins. You have the normal drugs and steroids and stolen credit cards, but what caught my attention was the dirty panties. That disgusted me

to no end... why would someone want to buy used panties with stains all over it? In any way, it was a fun afternoon and I have seen some very

weird and disgusting things.... but I will never buy used panties.. thanks.  Roll Eyes

What is the most weirdest thing that you have seen for sale for Bitcoin?
It is called DarkNet for a reason, the thing that are there really makes you fear and have nightmares and stay in shock about what people can do for money, probably the weirdest thing that i have ever seen sold for bitcoin is  a dedicated site live streaming a hostage where people bid on what they want to do next for that person, from cutting fingers, from pulling teeth to eating human flesh, and they were bidding money like crazy, that was probably one of the sickest and most disturbing thing that i have seen.
