2281  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: September 04, 2013, 06:17:40 PM

That may be, but it's true, it mainly happens during hard bounces after a selloff. These are rare occasions, but they are there.

true once every blue moon. must be patient...

2284  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Coinbase: Instant Transactions on: September 03, 2013, 10:29:35 AM
If someone verifies to level 2, then empties bank account, instant buys 50 btc, then never pays, how can this be stopped? Cpinbase takes 2 days to take the bank funds....but they give 50 btc instantly?  Sounds like coinbase open to get scammed.
To get "Verified, Level 2", they essentially get your personal info. If you attempt to scam them, they know who you are and will go through approved venues (collections, etc) to get their money back. It's why they can do Instant BTC, they know who you are and where you live.

you might also get reported to the 5-0 for wire fraud...

nice one prophetx , definitely interested in seeing how bitcoin and mobile payments come together, in particular in Africa.   Cheesy
has the M-pesa system run into any regulation problems?

from what I can tell, and i definitely need to do a bit more reading up on it, there is some sort of tax on mpesa transaction fees as of last year, and apparently the gov't is a partial owner, which i was not aware of previously.  so it seems the govt just sees it as another revenue stream.

I need to do more reading on this too (and maybe some youtubing as I want to see M-pesa in action, understand the process.

i have a a Nigerian friend who has worked in the banking industry in his country who just finished his masters thesis on mpesa, I will try to see if I can obtain a copy.

2287  Economy / Services / Re: Anyone want to help me with bitcoin options? on: September 02, 2013, 01:58:11 PM
i thought icbit.se was alreayd doing this, however the guys behind it, at least from what i could gather on the forums, do not have traditional options trading platform experience.  it is possible that they have adjusted their platform to align with expectations users may have

note that i also agree that competition is good

2289  Economy / Exchanges / Re: MtGox withdrawal delays [Gathering] on: September 02, 2013, 01:09:42 PM
excuse me... SOMEONE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS IN BTC (not sepa or bank or other) WITHDRAW?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=286255.msg3063524#msg3063524

so for BTC withdraw from mgox there are no delay or problem?
it's important because IMHO i think that mtgox can still be used only for trading: but when you have to withdraw currencies via sepa or normal bank transfer, it's better to withdraw btc from mtgox, and so, put btc to convert in another exchange in which bank transfer work well

this is misinformation, there is a big list of people on this thread and other who are getting sepa transfers apparently within a couple days in most cases...

2292  Economy / Services / Re: Stumbled upon safello - the fastest Bitcoin reseller in Europe on: September 02, 2013, 09:39:28 AM
@prophetx: the VAT is included in that 9%, so it's actually 7.2%. Legally we are required to add VAT, we'll rephrase that so its more clear. Having said that, what would be a percentage that would change your opinion on this?

it sounded like you were charging VAT on the price of BTC, not the service charge, if that is the case it should be rewritten.

but given that i can easily do a sepa transfer to btce or bitstamp, i do not understand why anyone would use your service at 9% when their trading fees are more like .5%
2293  Economy / Services / Re: Can anybody apply Twitter Bootstrap to my 2 page website? Paying $5 worth of BTC on: September 02, 2013, 09:05:02 AM
2 page website can be done in about 30 minutes or less, so it is a low ball price but hey we all got budgets...
2294  Economy / Services / Re: Stumbled upon safello - the fastest Bitcoin reseller in Europe on: September 01, 2013, 02:06:26 PM
they take 9% fee and charge VAT... sweden definitely is not going to be on the bitcoin forefront...

I found the piece interesting, but I wonder how it came about.

"American software mogul John McAfee appears relaxed at a downtown restaurant as he digs into a bowl of poutine" - and a reporter happened to show up and they did an interview.

What is the purpose of this not-so-chance encounter?

i think you misinterpret the meaning...

the older generation writes all this stuff as if it is bad

the younger generation reads it and thinks it is great
