Thanks Heskey, From my understand of the preliminary tests the technology is already working, it just needs to be tweaked and some bugs that came up during the testing phase needs to be ironed out. So it seems it is almost there!

Thanks, I actually did not understand it either when I first read about it, but after some research I managed to piece it together. The OPs post actually has a great explanation of how Darkcoin works. It's just not a very impressive URL being a blogspot blog, but not a bad post at all. I learned something from it. Thanks for posting.

I think once they finalize the "dark send" option things will change very quickly. I can definitely see lots of demand for a full anonymity crypto. Got the usual launch spike, best have a look in a week to see if it can sink or swim in the sea of alts

I can confirm the 13.9 drivers work really well for the GPU miner on AMD cards! Has anyone got sgminer working with a 68xx or 6990? Myself and a few others I've talked to by PM have tried for hours getting it to work with no luck... Really annoying not being able to mine one of the most promising coins in a long time! All I get is:
------------------------------------------------------------------ [08:36:44] Started sgminer 4.0.0
[08:37:32] Error -11: Building Program (clBuildProgram) [08:37:32] Error compiling program for search.
Frontend phase failed compilation. Error: Creating kernel search failed!
[08:37:32] Failed to init GPU thread 0, disabling device 0 [08:37:32] Restarting the GPU from the menu will not fix this. [08:37:32] Try restarting sgminer. Press enter to continue: ------------------------------------------------------------------
The new CPU miner is great though, getting ~100 kHash/s @ 3570k
Have you tried the 13.9 drivers? I had problems too until I used that driver. also, my 3570K is pumping out 455 kh/s overclocked slightly @ 4.1.

Once you get the cryptocoin bug, that is it, there is no going back! Also check out Gridcoin, you might like that too. You know, my husband and I were laying in bed late one night with our touchpads and he read to me an article on silk road, they'd just been arrested. so we thought Hummm, we don't really know about bitcoin... what's it all about? We started reading things, got out of bed and I started putzing about with a bitcoin wallet, tried to figure out how to mine, etc... we went to sleep even later, and continued to try and understand how it all worked. After about 3 or 4 days of that, we thought, oh, we should be looking at some new coins, it seems if you get in on the ground floor, and you catch a good one, you could make a lot of valuable coins. So we started looking at what was coming up. My husband saw this coin, and said, we should try it. It was opening the next day, so I was ready, but didn't know what the heck I was doing really. So I got on the band wagon wet behind the ears, and struggled to figure out what was going on. I don't think I ever posted in the beginning, just struggled through by myself though other people were asking good questions. Anyway, I only had my two machines, and it wasn't until last week I ventured VPC's, and only this weekend where I'm loading up on them. So, I didn't make many due to my caution, though I did make some, and it's been a really great experience.
Who would have known, my first try at joining a fledgling coin would end up being such a fantastic coin! Since then, I've learned so much, it's amazing! And I have what I truly believe will be the most important coin around. Finally, we did something right!
Thank you Eduffield. In life, there is a lot of luck, and then there is a bit of moving on something when it presents itself, so you do have to take a leap of faith and JUST DO IT as Michael Jordan's ads used to say. Thanks for the luck, the dedication, the idea, and everything!
And thanks to my hubby for seeing Xcoin just before launch! LOL

I am in full agreement with you, just some other people might not be. Your public appearance may have implications for you that you quite simply have not thought of yet. Plus, it is a lot cooler if the creator of "Darkcoin" be mysterious and unknown. Adds to the appeal! ;-) Is that wise? Considering you are making something that can have some serious implications in the real world. I'll be speaking at the Cryptocurrency Convention on Apr 9th in NewYork, detailing how DarkSend works and promoting DarkCoin. If anyone will be in NewYork at that time I'd love to meet you!
http://cryptocurrencyconvention.com/*My details should be up on the site soon I'm just making the technology. Me nor InternetApe support any illegal use of this technology (drug sites, darknet, etc). It's more about the privacy of the blockchain, it was made to be way too open and I can solve that. It's kind of the same thing as us building and selling guns. Someone could buy one to defend their house or someone could buy it to do terrible things.

Difficulty does not determine market price. Gridcoin is backed by work done for science projects, that is its major strength, not the difficulty. Is the current difficulty for mining relevant to its current market price?
I do not wish to purchase for 10 btc's worth in the period of 1 week and have the coin drop in price by 500% once many more pools and miners start mining.
|
|
|
Relevant to mining costs? can you explain what your mean? Hey guys i want to invest a lot in this coin. 1 question though. Is the price right now on https://c-cex.com/index.html?p=grc-btc relevant to mining costs or is it just a random $ value right now?

WOW that is a record for sure. I have a feeling as more and more people realize how important distributed computing and Gridcoin really are, we are gonna see huge increases in daily credits. New credit record today! Over 2.16 million credits! Great job! Our position is 110 in the world in average credits..Almost there! Andrew.

Most people tend to gravitate towards to the big ones anyways so it works out. Found yet another exchange... http://www.ecoinfund.com/voteSeems like exchanges popping up like crazy lately. GRC is not on the list yet, but I emailed them and asked them to add it to the list of coins to vote for. People don't be naive. I could be opening exchange (some crappy website) and then steal all the coins and money. This reminds me of forex bucketshops and this is 1000 times more unregulated. You think police is gonna do anything about some stolen cryptocoins ? Also isn't it better for volume (buy sell orders) to be concentrated at 1-3 most popular exchanges than to be spread out all over the place?

I think this is very needed. Also, I don't see any need to add filters or different views. All info is there: rate, fixed/variable, time. It's even sorted by rate. There are a lot of days when two-day lending offers completely swarm everything else, and somebody looking to borrow a large amount for 30 days, can only see a few offers, not the whole picture. Having a filter would not harm anybody. The options could be e.g. "all", "2-7 days" and "8-30 days". In that way, those who like the current view, could continue using it. From Bitfinex's point of view, this would be beneficial, as it helps connecting borrowers with lenders. There would still be just one orderbook, but alternative ways to view it.

Some people are not interested in societal benefits unfortunately. I sent a request to have Cryptsy add this coin since this is the most worthwhile/valuable coin out there IMO. Every exchange should have this coin based on the societal benefits alone.

A quick tip for AMD GPU miners!
When I was mining on one of my rigs Radeon 5870 with the latest amd drivers, sgminer would lock up after a few hours of mining.
With AMD 13.9 drivers everything was running perfectly for hours.

Hey Spoetnik, I was actually gonna message you about Gridcoin, I saw you tearing up the dogecoin guys, I thought, this guy might like Gridcoin as it is quite different. And now, here you are! this is interesting i have peeked in a few times over the months too see what is going on.. i got the stuff to get mining but didn't do it yet though..
just wanted to say thanks for trying to do something useful unlike 90% of the retarded garbage the spineless scamming brats here put out non stop.. they are such sleazy cowards they can't even keep their name.. they have to evade the scammer tag rating system to create a new account for each clone coin. hmm wonder why ?

I just put in a vote. Hey guys, I sent an email to MintPal (a new exchange) this afternoon, and was able to get them to add Gridcoin to voting. Vote here: https://www.mintpal.com/votingAs a registered user, you can vote 6 times/hour. THey are also accepting 0.00005 BTC per/vote if you want to place additional votes that way. I haven't traded on this site yet, but it seems like it runs pretty smoothly.

Looks like we are in. When is this exchange officially launching? Woho! Added on allcrypt

I am sure Rob will get to it. It definitely needs to be changed to reflect the total value. The OP is still showing 168 M coins instead of the real 336 M coins (CPU+GPU).......... now these are things that will seriously hit the credibility of our coin ... I had already asked earlier for this to be changed ... also on the website :-(
