1481  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: February 15, 2014, 05:19:10 PM
That is a good idea. Filtering would be much better as everyone can see the time frames for borrowing and lending.

If I have to guess, some whales are taking their money elsewhere.
My guess is, margin traders got burned badly on Feb. 10th. Almost all of them were forced out of their positions, some traders wiped out completely. Now the swap market is damaged, because of lack of borrowers. No borrowers -> some lenders, including me, will find greener pastures. Today's 0.09% swap rate is about 30% annualized. Faced with that, I think I'll try my hand with stock picking instead.

A similar crash took place in another margin trading platform, BTC-E. IMO, the point was to force margin traders out of their positions, and buy back at cheaper prices. Bitfinex should protect their clients and their business against this kind of 'predatory trading', and prevent the biggest flash crashes. Many stock exchanges and futures markets automatically freeze trading, when the prices fall a certain amount. A five minute automatic freeze if the market falls e.g. 20% in five minutes, could prevent these manipulated crashes from happening.

Another problem with the swaps is, there is an imbalance between time frames. Borrowers want 30 days, lenders offer 2 days. This is not a problem in itself, but when they're placed on the same orderbook, the supply and demand do not meet. Two-day lenders are happy with whatever return, while those willing to commit capital for 30 days, naturally want more. Therefore, Bitfinex should enable filtering swap offers, e.g. 'less than a week' and 'longer than a week'. In this way the borrowers would get more realistic picture as to what kind of rates they need to pay. I made a sample of what it could look like. By clicking '8 -30 days', it would only show those offers.

It would be good for Mcxnow to put up a voting poll where people can vote on new coin additions. I think this exchange is very good, trading engine seems really quick.
I honestly haven't seen any other exchange like it.

For cpu mining it is mazimum of 150 grc per day.

Is there a way to estimate the number of BOINC points needed per GRC?
Or a way to estimate how many GRC an i7 desktop can mine per day?

i'm pretty sure you can mine 150grc per day. If i'm not wrong, 150 is the maximus you can cpumine.

did you follow these instructions: http://www.gridcoin.us/download/InstallingGridcoinQTOnLinuxAndMac.txt ?

Trying to compile the linux wallet to add to AllCrypt.com and won't compile - fails to find io.h

Anyone here get it compiled on linux? Cant get it on the exchange without a working linux compile.

Mcxnow is an absolutely amazing exchange. Lightning fast execution, I don't know why anyone would use cryptsy, the volume on mcxnow is amazing.

I don't know then. You have to add the nodes to the .conf file, in the roaming directory.
You may have to sort the password entries out too.

BTW MAX is cheaper on https://MCXnow.com than on cryptsy.

What amount is considered "large" for a withdrawal?

Are BTC withdrawals not being processed right now? My withdrawal request has been pending for over 2 hours.
Do you have 2 factor authentication enabled?  If not (you should), did you click the link in their email confirmation?  I think they may have changed their BTC withdraw policy within the last two weeks:

"For security reasons, withdrawals will be automatically processed only if you have enabled OTP authentication (Account Security menu). Otherwise, you will receive an email with a confirmation link to approve the withdrawal. Large withdrawals will be processed manually."

Can someone please compile a windows exe?

Phm gave us his GPU miner code, and I merged in his changes into my project at https://github.com/evan82/darkcoin-sgminer

I got it to compile and it seems to work for me, although I have a terrible GPU so I'm not positive.

Try to compile it and let me know if it works so I can pay the man.

Thanks!

Any news on windows version of this new miner?
1489  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decentralized P2P Exchange Proposals: exactly how do you fix the fiat issue? on: February 14, 2014, 01:23:44 AM
The more you try to move fiat into Bitcoin anonymously the more problems you will have. And I am not talking just technical or trust ones.

No government will allow you to get fiat into Bitcoin anonymously, they will start cracking down on anyone doing these types of transactions very soon.
Which is why we (well some of us) are trying to make the process basically invisible. It will not be perfectly so, but we have to move in that direction. I like to call it "steganographic banking".

Best idea for people is to start using Bitcoin itself, this is what Bitcoin was meant to be. People need to start offer their goods and services for Bitcoin. Any form of fiat is poison to the Bitcoin ecosystem. Bitcoin and fiat do not mix well and never will.

The more fiat gets mixed in with Bitcoin the more excuses governments will have to get involved, by cutting out fiat you are cutting the root of the problem.

Nobody is trying to mix fiat into Bitcoin - the problem is that fiat exists, whereas for 99% of people today, Bitcoin does not.

You don't solve the fiat issue. You get rid of fiat altogether and you do not use it.

Thanks for the exe, looks like all the shares the miner submits are rejects.

can anyone provide a compiled exe for windows?

Just to let everyone know we're up to 3000DRK for the GPU bounty to try and get phm to release his source code. It would be helpful if other people could donate also to even the playing field again :

Thanks for your support!

ps, this bounty is extended to anyone who can get a GPU miner up and running with a reasonable amount of efficiency .

Here's my partially working GPU miner: https://github.com/evan82/darkcoin-sgminer

I'll post up a compiled version of his sg miner for you, I've been working on this for two days now and managed to tweak it out to much higher hashing speed but the shares are all rejects (above target) - if anybody know's a fix for this we'll be able to get a few mhash out of our gpus in the short term at least.

Will edit with link

Dark SGminer (compiled) - Credit to eduffield for source **This is HIS original version, not the faster one I spoke of**
https://mega.co.nz/#!SpQigLDS!Ph-MZ7QrR55Gb4BDGEeHaCmWI1y3EDw-oYi22do-Umo

I will post a more tweaked out version as I go, but alas.. Not worth it until it actually starts pumping out shares :p, I'm rebuilding from scratch

Fixed

Nice chart. I think a lot of new cpu miners have joined too, last time i checked it was ~ 800. Once scrypt sleep is turned on you will see a big spike in credits from the GPU miners too.

New credit record today! We're almost in the TOP 100 in average credits in the world!
Great job everyone!

Scanning hd for errors might have caused this problem. Try installing the backup wallet on different pc.

Using a backup should work. Try reinstalling Gridcoin in new folder and use your backup and rebuild the chain from the start.

Today i got "wallet.dat corrupted. Salvage failed" error. It's happened after i rebooted PC and Windows 7 scanned HD for errors. It's ~ 2500 GRC on it plus not payed yet pool mining rewards for 5 days. I tried to run gridcoin.exe -rescan - gettin new 0.00 GRC wallet. Tried to restore from backups (from 30.01 and 06.01) i got or same error. Also tried to --dumpwallet with pywallet.py, but it said "can't open wallet.dat/main. Close Bitcoin-Qt and try again". I must use "--otherversion" parameter? If yes - which it will be for GRC? Any help? Thank you!
Wallet addr: Fw2Kd6yXyge52WVVcPbiggGKNWTUwCvXeP
Thank you!
But didn't helped. I got corrupted wallet.dat from current wallet and 2 wallet.dat backup files which was on another partition. I'll try again.
Also i tried pywallet with this parameters. I can't see what is wrong here..

I think cgminer should be completely removed from the gridcoin package, to be completely honest.

Chrome does not allow me to download the wallet for Gridcoin or any of the files on their website.

http://www.gridcoin.us/

Can some one share a download link that isn't completely blocked by Google?
1498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Dogecoin halving is soon! on: February 12, 2014, 07:32:09 PM
I think once block reward halves the major miners might look for something else, and with them the big speculators. What that means for the price of doge I am not too sure.

LOL HAHAHAHH

I believe that is the "bribe" function at work.  If you really want to make the top of the list - think about sending a few satoshi over there.  "Every .000125 (12,500 satoshi) BTC an address receives will count as one vote".
The BTC address to bribe for GRC is 16JfRDjQndMnohi1d6HX4HXSDv4SdHB6er

And of course, vote every day!

Yeah I noticed that too. All of the sudden a few k votes out of nowhere. Gridcoin is almost near the top of that list.

Wow. How did that huge jump happen on allcrypt? Keep it up.

donate to me then, I will make 50k votes for GRC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we paid a lot of money for that. You see we increased by  5k votes in a single day.

I hope everybody in GRC should donate to us.

please donate to me and I will distribute to others.

GRC: GAcm1qG5XAjZGh8FJ7X5jSUFBM49Kom9Et

You do realize that if they find votes to be fraudulent, they will remove the votes, right...?

I.E. from their homepage: "Over 8000 TOR votes have been removed. Don't be a douche."

***EDIT***
Unless you made donations to get those thousands of votes... In which case, please disregard my comment...
