Just installed a second 5850 card. Running Win7 x64, 11.4 driver, phoenix 1.4 miner with poclbm kernel.
When using the BFI_INT flag, it says unable to activate support for BFI_INT, make sure that my card support it. I am 100% sure the card supports BFI_INT, as it is a 5850 card! The first card, which is an identical card as the second, runs BFI_INT without any problems.
Help please, thanks

How did you hit 900MHz core with the default voltage My card only goes up to 830.

Yes, I know the actual PPS stays the same in both cases. But I am comparing PPS payout to Proportion payout. So when PPS is COMPARED to proportion, PPS is lower when the pool have good luck. And PPS is higher when the pool have bad luck.

Wow, 1.4 is out already. Where do I get OLDER drivers? Sorry, I am a noob when it comes to AMD GPUs. Have been a nVidia user for too long.

so you are the same person i chat with last night?
So if the pool as a whole have lower than normal "luck" when compared to the entire BTC mining community, I will get lower BTC if choose Proportional?
This is what I am understanding: 1. When the pool operates at normal to above normal luck: PPS gives lower BTC, while proportional gives higher BTC. 2. When pool operates at normal to below normal luck: PPS gives higher BTC, while proportional gives lower BTC.
Did I get that right?
Does how powerful a CPU or GPU change the above facts?

Yes, I am using afterburner, but every time I set it below 700, it freezes the system. Can't up the core any higher, it will crash. Unfortunately, my card does not allow me to increase voltage, and it is NOT a reference design card.

I would get 5850 or lower end. Yes, the high end cards will give you more power, but it will be a pain to manage the heat, power, and NOISE!
I've built multi-GPU platforms in the past, and come to realize never get the highest performing card. Always get something that is not too hot, too power hungry, or too big.

Good to know that I can't unlock the 1GB XFX's.
I'll let you know about the HIS 6950's.
I think I might end up with a 'cheap' 6990 and 2 unlocked 6950's.
Don't get the HIS 6950 2GB, they have high number of defective cards. Having issues with Fan speed control. Basically the fan will blow at 100% all the time, no matter what you set it to, as it doesn't take any commands from the driver at all.

Mining for deepbit.net. They have pay per share, and proportional to choose from. Which is better for high end GPU? and which is better for CPU? or low end GPU?

Running Win 7 x64, with 11.4 catalyst, and the default SPP that came with it. GPU 830MHz, Memory 900MHz. My settings on the miner: Start /DD:\phoenix-1.3 phoenix -u http://xxx@xxx.com_3:xxxx@deepbit.net:8332/ -k poclbm DEVICE=0 VECTORS BFI_INT AGGRESSION=7 Changing the Aggression anything higher than 7 doesn't make any difference for me. What changes do you guys suggest for a 5850 to get higher hash rates? I've seen people running 5830 over 300MH/s, and 5830 has far fewer shaders. I am still trying to figure out how to lower memory speed below 700 without crashing the system.

I've read people running their memory at 200MHz. How is that achieved? The lowest setting on MSI AfterBurner is 500MHz for a 5850. And every time I set it to anything below 600 is crashes. How are you guys achieving such low memory clock rates?

man you cant do that? Take 5cm of ANY cable and just put it like the image... In the picture, it looks like the wire is just placed inside the PCI-e slot.

well, i am running Windows.

I am sure many have built several dedicated mining rigs without monitors attached. How do you guys monitor the PCs to make sure the mining program is still running and not hanged? I know I can use VNC to remotely login into the PC and check on it, but that requires me login into individual PCs. I am in need of a way to monitor all mining clients all at once, whats the best way to do it? What parameters do you want to monitor ? Hashing speeds, temps or what else ? You can see how the mining program is running by looking at your personal page on the pool's site. I just want to know if the mining program is still running, and hash speed if possible. On the pool's site, in the case of deepbit.net, I would be looking at the "Shares" column?

if it is pointless to you, then you don't need to participate. Some people also think SETI is pointless, so they choose not to participate.

are you talking about 6950 or 6970 (unlocked 6950)? if you are using poclbm try the keys -f1 -v -w128 (or -w64) also, remember to keep memory clocks between 340 and 400, i found those values to give more MH/s How do you get memory clock to 400? The lowest setting on AMD CCC only goes down to 625MHz.

console version is working fine! remove all ati drivers and seperate ati stream drivers if are installed. then download catalyst 11.3 with APP (the file should have the _ocl extension) install them reboot and you are ok. then you may use msi afterburner to change clocks Yes, I am using 11.3 with APP. I added the -v -w128 -f2, and now it is running 280MH/s. Is that normal now? Also read that memory clock should be lowered to 400MHz, how is that even possible? I mean, the lowest setting on AMD CCC only goes down to 625MHz. Will be flashing the BIOS to 6970 tomorrow.

i am running poclbm console version

My 6950 is only oding 100MH/s. It seems that the GPU clocks are at 250MHz only instead of 800. How can I force 3D clock speeds?
