61  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The risks of using Bitcoin on: August 12, 2021, 12:11:12 PM

  • The risk of Policy
  • The risk of the law
  • The risk of Substitution
Quote
This is a systematic risk, and it is difficult for individuals to avoid it.
  • The risk of Speculation
  • The risk of  Money laundering
We can control these two risks ourselves. This is not all risks, you are right, but also opportunities. Investors can profit from it.
Indeed. Even though as you enter investing in crypto, lots of risks is already expected, you still shouldn't let such take over your earnings instead you should find away on how you can avoid or reverse those risks into something beneficial towards you. If you are too afraid of confronting those risks, might as well choose not to invest or invest on something safer in crypto though there's no such thing in here. You should also remember that bitcoin is still developing and soon those risks might disappear or may occur less likely as new innovations aids safety and security towards users and investors.[/list]
62  Economy / Economics / Re: When debt is an asset on: August 11, 2021, 05:57:11 PM
It may soon change due to inflation, but as of now we live in a crazy world with the Euro - it is called the wonderland of negative interest rates. For those who are not in the loop, it works like this: You lend me 100 euros and I promise to repay you 99 euros. My first question, how much would you like borrow under these conditions?

I was speaking with a friend that wants to buy a house, mostly on credit as it is usual in many places. He was saying that he wanted a 25 year mortgage because he would like to have the house paid as early as he could. However, my take on this is that given the ridiculous interest rates, I would rather do like Europe or US and have that debt ... forever Smiley
Your friend who decided to bury himself to debt did not commit to a smart move at all. Borrowing, regardless of the value, is not an ideal thing to do when entering crypto investment not unless the timing is in his favor. If all of a sudden a bull run consecutively occurs right after you took the risk snd borrowed monet. Maybe in central banks, it is more likely to happen, wherein there's a great possibility that your profit is guaranteed yet not that much. You should always choose to invest only with the money you can afford to less and not with the money that you just borrowed.
63  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: There are three kinds of people in the Bitcoin world on: August 11, 2021, 05:27:54 PM
There are three kinds of people in the Bitcoin world, idealists, opportunists and faithists.

    • Idealist
Many early Bitcoin participants were mostly idealists, and they hoped to get a lot of benefits through Bitcoin. But many idealists have not persisted until now. After holding the currency for a period of time, they have not seen more benefits in the currency circle. They chose to withdraw due to their own greed.
    • opportunist
They prefer the volatility of Bitcoin prices and find opportunities to buy Bitcoin at low prices by analyzing market price fluctuations. When they see a opportunity in the market, they want to realize the freedom of wealth quickly
    • Faithist
They stick to their beliefs, believe in Bitcoin, and as long as they buy Bitcoin, they are willing to bear its risk. When the price of Bitcoin falls, they will not panic the market and choose to sell, but think it is a good opportunity to buy at a low price.

I think there are more Bitcoin opportunists in the forum. What is your opinion on this? Which one do you think you are?
Considering the massive growth of people investing on bitcoin, for sure there are more than three types of people in the bitcoin world. If I were to identify myself on the types you've mentioned, I would consider myself as to having the three of it. Not because I am trying to lift up myself but because have the mindset of the three is necessary in achieving success in your investment. If you are going to consider yourself as only one of those, there's a chance that as you end up leaving behind the others, you won't be able to make the most of your bitcoin investment. You are free to choose what you do but you shouldn't limit yourself on what else you can do to further enhance your performance.
    64  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why I'm an atheist on: August 11, 2021, 04:51:35 PM
I just wanna share my insights about religion as I grew older. Before, I can say that I really believed on it and I devoted most of my time to please the church as well as God but as I learn and reflect about the things happening in the world, I find it illogical to keep my faith on something that lets the people of the world suffer with injust. I found it logical that it is very impossible to have a scripture that is not revised nor manipulated that was kept clean up until now. As clueless as I am on how the world really began, I am also curious about what is the true religion or was there such thing as true religion.

66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which NFTs are worth the investment? on: August 11, 2021, 02:16:23 PM
I know the NFT market is quite a risky one, as "not all that glitters is gold". Yet, I've seen many people making millions of dollars in an instant by selling highly-demanded NFTs. The NFT hype sparked my curiosity, as I became interested on making money buying and selling digital art, in-game items, paintings, etc. As far as I'm aware, CryptoKitties are one of the best NFT investments you could make right now since they tend to appreciate in value over time. Still, I'm eager to know which other NFTs are worth it as a long term investment.

Any help, suggestions, and/or recommendations will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Smiley
Right now, try axie infinity! SLP are very cheap, nearly 50% off after reaching the ATH, and there are a lot of players, I believe there are already 1 million and counting. SLPs are being held by a lot of players right now, and some are panic selling, so it's currently on sale, so we should invest in SLP or AXS, both of which have good gaming usecases. But, as always, DYOR so you don't end up regretting your investment.

you can try other NFT assets that is being used in games -- > https://www.techtimes.com/articles/263628/20210801/top-5-nft-games-play-earn-100-day-splinterlands-lost.htm
Axie Infinity has been the talk of the town also for the past few months because of the surprising massive growth of its coin which is AXS and SLP. The sudden growth over the number of players was proven effective although there has been a new adjustment made as a new season of it started wherein the SLP that can be gained by a certain person has been lowered which was meant to regain the balance of the currency. It has a great future a head as developers mentions some of their plans on expanding the game which will pique the more players interest over the game and will lead to a healthier system for this NFT.
67  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrency: The Future of Finance in a New World Order? on: August 11, 2021, 01:47:48 PM
In 2009, the first cryptocurrency -Bitcoin-, officially launched and since then has continued to roll into a snowball effect that poses a serious threat to the existence of conventional finance. As much money as the restless World Central Bank, the government seems helpless and dragged into the vortex of the evolution of the world's financial system. The Covid-19 pandemic has become a catalyst for forcing the entry of all financial and banking industry sectors into the digitalization era. Imagine a concept of a world without physical currency. It is strange, but real. Money will be removed and replaced with a digital currency system.
The New World Order wherein the world will be ruled by a single government only wherein a single currency is expected to be used is still just a theory. Although the current pandemic seems to make sense with regards to this plan whereas a certain country is already silently taking over the world but still, involvement of cryptocurrency is far from being possible with this plan. There are a lot of consideration that is needed to be seen first before we can jump into conclusion that we will one day experience having a single government and a single cryptocurrency.
    68  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I buy Bitcoin? on: August 11, 2021, 01:17:21 PM
Hey everyone, I am new to crypto and have yet to start trading but all I see in the news is that Bitcoin prices are up and down fast. As a newbie should I look into purchasing it? If I do not have the capabilities to purchase a single coin can I purchase like a percentage of it? If yes how do I do it? Please help!
The only reason you should take consideration on not buying bitcoin is when it is at it its highest value at the moment because the likelihood of you earning from that investment is very low. Also, if ever you are transacting with someone who seems shady and untrustworthy, you should set back your transaction right away or else you will lose lots of money. You should never waste the chance of buying a bitcoin if its value is currently low yet you should take a look at the probability of it falling even lower so be careful. You can try diversifying your investment to other coins and you can buy only a percentage of it because buying a single coin will surely be expensive.
69  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Are humans not changing naturally? on: August 10, 2021, 09:56:46 PM
Humanity has limitless innovatiin and evolution consirdering the never ending growth and increase in knowledge of a certain individual If we'll take a look back at the beginning of humanity, we kniw hiw much important it is to to be strong and be the one who dominates over his tettitory. It was survival of the fittest before and it is survival of the fittest up until now. It is just not like that anymore where the strong survives, and bring you problems as you become the weaker one. Even the weakest now can become the strongest all through his wits. Knowledge has become powerful nowadays.
70  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am trained in software engineering but don't know bitcoin on: August 10, 2021, 03:22:12 PM
    Hi,

I was trained as a software engineer but did not have a career as one. Ventured into CNC Precision Machining and out of job 2 months ago. Since I have some knowledge about software, I would like to learn something about bitcoin. Meanwhile just helping my ex colleague to market machinable glass ceramic, as this type of material is too unique and I end up having too much time. Learning something new is important.

I would like to learn and may be set up my miner as well.
Please do help to point me where to start.

It sounded like you are implying that your profession is something that is familiar with bitcoin since it is all about software engineering hence it does not work that way. Bitcoin is something that you don't get to learn at school and I don't think there is an official course or subject that tackles cryptocurrency. As to what you have said, you are looking forward to learn more about it and build your own mining set up. First thing you should do is to never forget taking in the basics. Learn about bitcoin and how it functions. Afterwards, you should be able to involve yourself on topics that gives you wisdom with regards to it so that you can further expand your knowledge.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum pump on: August 10, 2021, 01:29:46 PM
Ethereum has achieved a lot in the past few years together with bitcoin. It managed to stay by bitcoin's side ever since and was able to stay as the most popular cryptocurrency next to bitcoin. After the hard pork, the value went low but as it ended, we can see how much the value has grown. It is very evident that innovations by the developers are surely being made for the betterment of it and its investors. We can expect the best from ETH once again and it is looking good so far after the adjustments so things might even look better for it before the year ends.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The future of crypto on: August 10, 2021, 01:01:01 PM
China is always two steps ahead of all other countries in terms of future tech and I think the reason why they ban crypto miners is because of their CBDC but what will happen if other countries later follow the same steps? Will this put crypto in trouble?
We cannot be certain yet over China's decision of banning bitcoin mining within their territory but one thing is for sure, they are trying to get ahead of the game over other countries. If China's plan and outcome finally shows up, it might encourage other countries to do the same thing and it might make a huge impact to crypto for a while but for sure it wouldn't last long since crypto investors all over the world is growing each day. China is a powerful country and we can clearly see how efficient their strategies are nevertheless, let us hope the have good plans over crypto someday too wherein both the country and crypto will develop mutualism and benefit from each other.
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does Covid-19 affect On Bitcoins on: August 10, 2021, 11:50:37 AM
I think it does have an effect but it does not directly affect bitcoin. Since everyone is adviced to stay at home due to the pandemic and the virus evolving into a more fatal one, investors have now more time to focus and analyze their investment. Some was able to spend most of their time during the lockdown mining and a significant change happened when the quarantine started last year wherein bitcoin was able to achieve consecutive new all time highs. The pandemic is a blessing in disguise yet it is still a nightmare for many specially those who are just barely surviving each day so let us not hope for the pandemic to last longer, we're all not in the same boat.
74  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should you own at least one Bitcoin? on: August 08, 2021, 09:50:26 PM
Many people are considering how to invest in Bitcoin. My advice is: try to hold as many Bitcoins as possible. If you are not rich, you also need to hold at least one Bitcoin. If you don’t own one Bitcoin, It is possible that an entire era will be missed.

    Why would I suggest this?

Because I think Bitcoin will rise to an unattainable price in the future. In fact, it is difficult to value Bitcoin according to traditional valuation systems and models. Because Bitcoin belongs to a completely different category of assets, I think a more accurate name should be "monetary assets". This is an asset with a very strong currency attribute, and it is also a currency with a very strong asset attribute.

It has become a consensus that the economic crisis will come back every once in a while. The reason for the financial crisis is very simple: both parties are greedy, investors' greed and bankers' greed. Greed is what it should be on Wall Street, it can almost be regarded as an obligation.

And when will the next round of crisis come? We don't know
Having bitcoin is surely the key to success in the future wherein if in the next few years you are still clueless and you don't have any investment on it, you'll surely die from either war or starvation. No matter how expensive it has become, there are still chances that you can find a good timing wherein you can start buying and begin holding. Also, with consideration to the pandemic, for sure an economic crisis will soon rise which will show the importance of having crypto so find your own way already on how you can esrn and start investing on it to further secure your future.
75  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Increasing acceptance level - Cryptocurrency on: August 08, 2021, 05:31:35 PM
Such instances that depicts cryptocurrency's growth and recognition all over the world regardless of the social status could be a hint on what we will have in the future. Although we cannot really get everyone to believe and accept crypto, it will still play dominant over fiat in the future as it offers more convenience and benefits as well as financial freedom compared to the traditional currency. There might still be some problems with the transactions with that right now but in no time, it will be developed so that it may cope up with how people wants to use it.
76  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Abortion should be banned. on: August 08, 2021, 05:07:16 PM
    what's your take on that?
It is one of the usual debate I had when I was still studying and my opinion about this is 50/50. I agree that it is the mother's responsibility to stand up to the consequences of an unexpected pregnancy instead of running away from it through taking the life of an innocent child. On the other hand, as to how other views this, the baby inside the mother's womb cannot be considered as a person yet that is why if the parents are financially unstable and there's a high probability that the children will suffer more if the pregnancy would be supported and continued. Once a baby is born, no parent should run away from their responsibility hence they should consider the future of the children on their hand.
77  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Introduce Bitcoin in one sentence on: August 08, 2021, 04:48:45 PM
Bitcoin is too complex to be introduced by just one sentence. It works differently when defining it to an individual wherein you will need to take consideration on that certain person's current knowledge about bitcoin. May it be that they already know about it or they are completely ignorant when it comes to bitcoin. Nevertheless, if I would be given a chance to define it to a person, I will describe it to them to the point that they will get curious and crave for more data about it. I would say to them that: Bitcoin is the future and if you don't want to regret soon, start investing on it now.
78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum is rising, Is this really the effect of ethereum's London hard fork? on: August 08, 2021, 03:51:34 PM
It can be seen clearly that all of it is the effect of the hard fork and after it occured, there is a significant change in the price of Ethereum that has been seen. So far, it has already reached $3100 and we can now look forward on having it exceeding its ATH. Those who chose to hold their Ethereum and waited till the hard fork is done will surely benefit right now. Ethereum had an effective feature and let us hope that it will further more increase Ethereum's price so that it can attract more investors and will give back to those who never lost hope on it.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Can these expert's opinion on undervalued projects be a spotlight for decision? on: August 08, 2021, 02:02:38 PM
Crypto market has been magnificently recovered and putting all the bears in a silent mode. This piece of the article highlights some projects that will give some outstanding returns in this current phase of the market. Are they actually right or there are other big gems that are left out?
The expert's opinions matters but still, it is with your own speculation and prediction that you should rely with most of the time. Regardless of being an expert, predictions and suggestion does not usually occur most of the time. The market is very unpredictable hence you can depend your predictions on what's currently happening in the world with regards to crypto. There are indeed a lot of big gems out there waiting to be discovered and I hope most of us would find some of that as it grows with potential and helps all of the investors who would believe on those specific coins.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which coin did you make the most money from? on: August 08, 2021, 01:31:17 PM
Ethereum and bitcoin has been the top coins that helped me gain much profit way back and up until now. It might seem quite usual since most of the people here earn from those two but still I would say it out loud and be proud how much the faith I had for these cryptos changed my life. It was a roller coaster ride and it was never an easy thing to be patient and persever with my holdings but as I things gets well for the two, all the hardships paid off that's why I will keep on investing on believing because I know it still has more for me in the future.
