that's partly true. i once had a portfolio of around 6 stocks where 2 of them were sinking heavily and the other 4 increased with a decent amount. i ended up with around 10% profit after 8 months. and another time i did the same with 5 stocks. this time it didn't work out very well. i had around 14% profit on average, and in a matter of a week nearly all profit got vanished. i was glad to get my money back with only 0.3% in profit. if i didn't sell i would end up with at least 5-10% in losses.

The trick is too make a good choice. Choose an investment that is not likely to fail. That can make your money grow. In saving, your money is idle and not earning anything.
