What if US Dollar Crashes?

The only thing that will make USD crash is if there is a mighty, global economic collapse. That is not good news, even for bitcoins.


It means bitcoins will be the only reasonable means of exchange and you can't even sell btc for your local currency because your local currency would have been seriously devalued due to the world economic condition.

If there is a global crash, the dollar will rise - flight to safety. It happened during the financial crisis of 2008, and then in 2013 during the eurozone crisis - the dollar rose both times.

The dollar isn't going anywhere (and neither is the pound or swiss franc). They are backed by stable democracies, and yes they will have recessions from time to time because recessions are normal, but nothing is going to happen to their currencies.

It is the weak countries that will adopt bitcoin. What will happen is their own currencies become worthless but they can't get hold of US dollars (because of capital controls), so they will opt for bitcoin as the next best thing. See Venezuela for this in action. The bolivar has collapsed, the people want US dollars, they can't get them, so some are opting for btc.

What if the us dollar wil crash one thing that i know is that the bitcoin never can take over. So dont think that would happen. The crash of the dollar means allot of people are dead and i think whole america is gone because they all has dollars. And thats why he never will crash there are to many people interested in.

I cant imagine that usd will crash even in the future because its impossible to happen and i think even its crashes it cannot change bitcoin replace usd.. its impossible bitcoin will always ecurrency and there posibility that bitcoin alive in the future..

the dollar goes away what will the price of the bitcoin be exactly nothing because there is no dollar anymore.

If the US Dollar is going to crash then it would effect the Bitcoin in someway because there are allot of people in the us that make use of the Bitcoin so there would be less Bitcoin users. 

Why would there be less bitcoin users if dollar crash? Actually, they will most likely switch to bitcoin because bitcoin will be soaring high by then. Maybe there will be more merchants using bitcoin because dollars will be to low to buy something. Bitcoin will replace dollar as the strongest currency.

I believe so if the US dollar crashes and so is the bitcoin for we are still depending on the economy and the status of a country. I still remember when Dollar Crashes during the time when I was abroad. Recession happens in any part of the world not just in the Philippines but also in the other countries dependent on US. It was a big heart ache for the country but somehow I was blessed for just transferred to the other branch of the hotel. Milions of people looses job and find it hard to recover.

I think the effect on Bitcoin will be very short term when the USD happens to "crash" at some point in the future. The speculation aspect will give Bitcoin a huge bump in the price but it won't last very long as the US government will do everything to prevent further damage. As soon as Bitcoin traders start to notice that the price will start to tank again.

I will say US Dollar is not going to crash as long as its real backup has importance.The real power and strength will make it powerful and global currency is Petrol which can be traded only in US Dollars.Petrodollar is real thing and this is not going to loose its importance.Bitcoin has come out as major player and will continue spreading its influence even in existence of US Dollar.

I disagree. Bitcoin will not disappear if US dollar crashes. First off, bitcoin isn't only dependent on the USD value. bitcoin can also be exchanged in local currencies, eg EUR, AUD, JPY, PHP, etc. USD isn't the only currency in the world you know. If US dollar does indeed crashes, I'm can somehow see EUR will become the new world currency

That will not happen so fast and that is because you already can see now that the Bitcoin is not everywhere acceptable and that have to change of course for the currency.
But indeed Bitcoin is getting now more used as a payment method and that is really nice.

Who will reign over United States of America? China? Yes that is possible but that wont happen without a fight. I guess I will think more about the state of the world after that before thinking of the US dollar crashing.

What if i dont think he would ever crash because there are to many people who are using the coin right now and i now for in the future that amount is only growing fast. So dont think dollar wil crash and bitcoin will take over that will never happen

Let me get this straight: The dollar is designed in a way that it is certain that it will collapse eventually. When it does happen is a matter of time and time only. The safest bet is to bet against the collapse of the dollar.

But with bitcoin it's obviously different because bitcoin has no single entity that controls the supply of coins. With this in mind, your future will not be controlled by a central bank or government. You can control your own future. You can predict the inflation of bitcoins. Also the value of bitcoin is retained over time so if the dollar collapses, bitcoin will skyrocket.

It is possible, but through what process is the question

Currency's value comes from demand, when economy goes bad, people desperately want more currency, that's why currency will never crash during a recession, they strengthen instead. FED printed 5x more USD without crashing its value, just because exploded demand for USD after financial crisis

So the only possibility that a currency will crash is during hyper inflation. That is also not possible, since banks are holding most of those newly added money supply, they watch inflation carefully and strictly restrict how much money flow into the economy to avoid inflation

Another possibility is that people find some other alternative (for example bitcoin), thus give up using USD. That's also not very likely to happen since most of the people's income is received in the form of USD, unless USD is in a state of hyperinflation, they will keep using USD

Currently we have a huge bond bubble, if those bond can not be paid back and default, it will crash the bond price, cause large loss for investors, but again, that will trigger a shortage of USD, gives bank more reason to create more USD

In a disasters scenario, people will always chase USD, which is the most liquid format of asset, so it is not likely it will crash in any foreseeable future

Dont think the dollar will ever crash do you know what wil happen if it does crash. The world will collapse ok not the world but whole america will be under atack by everyone so dont think dollar wil crash because he wont crash.

Well, maybe if the dollar experiencing a problem, the whole economy in countries that use the dollar will occur a severe economic crisis, and I guess it can not be completed within the time period close, probably most users will use bitcoin or altcoin other, for of saving money they have and I think it will greatly affect the price of bitcoin

USD is the reserve currency for almost every country in the world at the moment, trust me, nobody would want USD to crash. Bitcoin has no influence over the price of the dollar, and it will never have influence over the price of the dollar, so I'm not really sure how you come up with that.
