Well, since you're just giving out bitcoins, essentially, I request that my bet be raised from 20 BTC to 30 BTC.
If that's the case Maged, then use the 250btc limit. Its free money, right, so why not? I only bet what I don't mind losing, even when the odds of me losing are less than 1%. Three hundred dollars is quite a bit of money for a single bet. If I could make this same bet on a hundred other suspected ponzis that are in this situation, I would absolutely bet the maximum.

I would like to advise everyone in this thread to not bet with Matthew UNLESS YOU BOTH ESCROW
I made my bet without an escrow, so I might get scammed, but you shouldn't. DEMAND AN ESCROW OR DO NOT BET
I'm not sure what that means but I will make the same bet with you (with escrow of course) to prove I'm not just trying to dodge the bet. This is on top of my bet with Matthew. It means, that if it's good enough for the forum admin to bet without Escrow, it probably ought to be good enough for you, Joe Random. That said, sure, I'll take your bet. Exact same terms at Matt's bet. 100BTC from each of us, winner gets the total 200BTC. I choose Matthew N. Wright as the escrow holder

He is however a respected member and much more trustworthy than most. I will bet with you the same bet I made with Matthew, my 100BTC against your 250BTC. Obviously I will not have Matthew ecrow, as I would not want to put all my eggs in one basket.

Matthew, I will reduce your liability from 250BTC to 240BTC if we amend the terms of the bet to include an escrow on both sides.

I came up with the 100:250 BTC ratio because that was in line with what the market was pricing passthrough bonds at.

Fair enough, no probs I came up with the 100:250 BTC ratio because that was in line with what the market was pricing passthrough bonds at.
Ok, well that has nothing to do with this thread. If you want to bet 1:1, that's fine, otherwise no thanks.

I think this has only proved they actually meant it.
I agree. The fact that not all of them have funds to up the bet much more doesn't change anything.
Also agreed, and its the reason why I allow bets as low as 0.1BTC. I want everyone to have the chance to back up what they say with an amount that is a maximum allowable bet to them personally. If someone only has 1BTC, I wouldn't want them to bet it. Betting 0.1BTC would be sufficient and would mean quite a lot considering how much that person has. With that point lost already, it's only BTC that he can possibly win.
The point is far from lost, it's not not going to be made until this is over. When people lose because they were too proud to admit they didn't know for sure if it was a ponzi or not, then those people will be more careful next time. It's going to serve it's purpose very well. And if I lose, then I'll have learned a valuable lesson as well (I also enjoy entertaining the community). The perception that he's prone to reckless behaviour is on the rise.
You must not know me very well. You have edited this post several times. The last part, once it was several pages behind. What's the deal with that? You started saying I was judging, then you changed it to saying everybody knew that, and now it's ambiguous.

I have not read the entire thread, but in your original post you said 100 post minimum, now it seem you have changed it to 250? Am I still allowed to bet? Also I will only have to pay if pirate pays out 100% of what is owed correct?

Hey Matthew I could be interested now that you raised the bar, but I need to see some proof that you hold any amount of coins to pay all the bets beforehand. Think you could do that?

Sorry, I don't need to dance. Read the OP for rules. I'm glad you're interested, use an escrow if you feel a risk of losing your coins.

It is a shame that I'm not what you consider to be an estabilished member. I'd go all-in.
I'm 100% sure pirate is a scammer. And what you're doing now is a desperate act of denial.
It is a shame that I'm not what you consider to be an estabilished member. I'd go all-in.
Again, I can proxy your bet free-of-charge. I'll proxy bets for 4% of your bet amount if you've already bet 250 BTC directly, or 6% otherwise. You'll need to send me the bet amount + fee in advance.
Come on the_thing, what's the hold up?

And why should I use an escrow to make a bet with you? I don't trust anyone. I'm just asking politely you prove that you own the coins set as maximum bet, by your own words in OP, so I can trust you and make my bet.

You either trust me or you don't. You know I trust you, almost, half of it. You can gain my full trust right now by putting your coins where your mouth is.

I can offer you the same as I offered dust: I will bet you 100 Bitcoins that Matthew will fulfill his end of the deal within 3 weeks after a conclusion. This means that if Matthew wins (pirate pays out) Matthew is done and I get 100 Bitcoins from you. If it is decided that Matthew loses and has to pay you his side of the bet with you, and he /doesn't/ do so within 3 weeks, I will give you 100 Bitcoins. (The 3 weeks start after it's been decided that Matthew loses. Suggestions on how this should be decided?)
